Using operator on Date attribute on ADF Searh Form ?
Hi All,
On our ADF Search Form, there is Date attribute. We have requirement that user can type :
'15-01-2007'or
BETWEEN '15-01-2007' AND '15-02-2007'
How can we achieve that ?
Thank you for your help,
xtanto
Did you try typing in exactly what you've posted here?
That should work out of the box in the ADF BC Tester.
It won't work in an ADF Faces application using Find Mode, however. See release notes http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/jdev/htdocs/10.1.3.0.3/readme.html#dbind4

Which trigger to use for insert data into db table in Forms
Hi,
My form is current having a database block with table reference. When enter data into form field and click on save button. Automatically the record is inserted into database table.
I want to make this as manual insert. I changed the data block to a non-database. Where should i write the insert statement in order to insert data into table.
Is it Key-commit trigger at form level?
Please advise.
Thanks,
Yuvaraaj.Hi Yuvaraaj.
Insert should happen when we click on the save which is inbuilt in the form. In this case where should i write the insert statement.Forms in built save commit's the form data where block is based on database not non database.
@2nd reply
Ypu are right. The reason i chnaged the database block to non-database is Currently i have a database block with form field canvas which insert only 1 record in to >table when we click on standard save button. The requirement was to add a field called CHANNEL which should have multiple values displayed. (i created this channel >field in a seperate datablock (non database) and used the same canvas.) When we insert data in all fields (single record) and channel we should be able to selected >multiple channel (say A,B and C) when we click on save then 3 records should be inserted in to the table which looping values for each channel. This was the actual >requirement and this is the reason why iam changing the block to non-database block. You are talking about two blocks.. 1. Master block and 2. Details block name channel
You are inserting one record in master block then insert 3 record name A,B,C for that master record.
Now you want master record should insert to each A,B,C record. Means
'how are you' --master record
and you want
'A'- 'how are you'
'B'- 'how are you'
'C'- 'how are you'OR
?Ok. If you want master record save in database and then want to save non-database(channel) data into database USE Post-Insert trigger at block level and do the rest.
Hope this helps...

How to use Master Data Attribute of in Update Rule's Formula
Hi experts.
In update rule, there is an option to use <b>Master Data Attribute of</b>. However, due to user requirement, I need to use that in <b>Formula</b> instead.
<b>Field to update:</b>
Profit Center
<b>Logic:</b>
If Cost Center is empty
Then Profit Center
Else
Master Data Attribute of Cost Center
I use the following formula at the moment but it is not 100% correct.
<b>IF( Cost Center = '', Profit Center, Cost Center )</b>
Appreciate if anyone could help me out.
Thanks!Hi,
The easier thing to do will be to use a Update Routine.
Logic will be as follows :-
If Cost center iss initial.
Result = Profit Center
else.
result = Cost center.
endif.

Using "Master Data Attribute of" in the Update Rule
Hi,
In my update rule of, i want to replace the master data attribute of my characteristic instead of using its source characteristic. For example. <i>InfoObject ZSTORECODE</i> has an attribute <i>ZSTORENAME</i>. My objective is to use the Store Name instead of a Store Code.
I initially thought of using <i>"Master Data Attribute of"</i> in the update rules. However, I always end of with having an error of <i>"No Values."
</i>
Hope you guys can help me with this!

Using master data attribute in BEx Query u0096 formula
Hello,
I want to use the master data attribute (Eg. Customer master 0CUSTOMER, 0ALTITUDE (Geo Location Height)) in query formula calculation. How do I do this?
Please help me.
Thank you
SubbuHi Subramaniam,
You can definately use the master data attributes in the formula calculation if that is a numeric value (logically u can use a characteristic in formula).
for e.g Net weight from 0MATERIAL can be used through formula variable in formula but Color is a characteristic and there is no point in using that in a formula. -
Can't assign an infoobject using master data attribute of
I've added in 0purch_group to my cube and I want to assign it using the master data attribute selection but it doesn't bring back anything to choose from. the attribute is 0mat_plant_purch_group and I've made it navigational. any ideas?
So do you say that you dont have mat_plant included in ur cube.
Then what are trying to get into the field with out a source field. How do you want to fill the value if you dont have mat_plant - i mean which of 100 values of matplant and attribute values should be populated. -
Master data attribute of Option in UR
Hi All
Can someone please explain me in what circumstance we use the "master data attribute of" option in the Update Rules ???
Thanx
C Hthe value of the characteristic is not available from the datasource fields..but it is a master-data attribute of one of the infoobjects present in the communication structure..
in such case..use this option..
example..u required contract-account in the cube..but it isnt available from datasource..but contract is present in datasource..and contract account is a master data attr of contract..
so this option will be used while creating update rule for contract account infoobject...MDA of (contract)..

Invoking binding operation from backing bean -- no data displayed in ADF table ?
Hello experts, I have data control derived from Web Service proxy client. In this data control, I have multi record list derived from web service call.In my ADF page, I have bunch of input components with many drop down lists and radio buttons, check boxes etc.
Finally I want to transfer user input to data control. In my ADF page, I have mapped the result set of data conrol to ADF table.
When I click submit button, the input data from ADF page is passed to data control operation. In the bean method, I am making use of operationBinding.execute() and operationBinding.getParamsMap().put(). I see it is fetching data by checking getResult().
I am invoking partial trigger also on the table. However, table is not getting populated with the data.
please help me. Jdeveloper verion is 11.1.1.6. I have set "Refresh" attribute to "never" for iterator in the bindings tab. But no luck. I see that control coming to data control and calling web service and getting the data and then it comes back to my bean method submit() and I see that getResult() is showing records fetched. But why the table on ADF page is not showing the data ?
thanks a lot in advance.I still not able to get my table updated with data. If I set "Refresh" to "ifNeeded", soon after coming out of submit method of bean, it again tries to execute the web service call in the data control and brings empty result since the search parameters are empty. I do not know why it goes again to data control method. So, when I hit submit button, the bean method calls operationBidnding.execute() and before this I set the parameters also. After execute(), addPartialTarget() gets executed and it comes out of submit. At this time, it is supposed to go to ADF page. But I see that it tries to execute method in data control with empty parameters. This is ridiculous. It neither works with "never", nor with "ifNeeded".
I see many forums on this issue but no solution found...all those forums are not answered. This looks like it is a bug in ADF table not able to refresh from managed bean !!!!

Java.lang.NoSuchMethodError on my adf:inputrender tag for Date attribute
Hello!
Please help. I don't know how to fix this error:

I am using Jdev 10.1.2 and this error points to my adf:inputrender tag. I am rendering a Date attribute from my viewobject. Also this error only shows up in my deployed jsp (deployed to OAS 10.1.2). If I just run the web app in JDev 10.1.2 (using Standalone OC4J), there is no error.
Please help!Hello,
Anyone, please help me on this... by the way, I run my program without errors in JDev's OC4J, not the standalone OC4J. But when I deploy it to my server's OAS, it gets the error above whenever I load a jsp with an adf:inputrender on a Date attribute of my VO. -
ADF BC declarative Compare validator on date attributes
Hello
I trying to abandone validation on the UI beans by resorting to the built-in ADF declarative validation available at the Entity object level.
I test the Compare validator between two numeric attributes and it worked well, also between two String attributes, but when i tried to compare two dates attributes the results of the validation was not correct.
any reason as to why Entity based validation based on dates values does not give appropriate results

Remember that Date type has also a time portion in database.
may be there is your error. -
Use of field 'StartPoint' in work order operation's 'Dates' tab
Hi,
Can someone please explain me on the uase of field 'StartPoint' on work order operation's Dates tab.
Regards.Start point will be used in case of scheduling for the operation.
By mentioning the condition & date, while doing automatic scheduling, system will change the start date of the operation & correspondingly finish date.
Note: This will work only when Automatic scheduling is ticked for the control key.

ADF View Object query to use Oracle LONG data type
Hi,
I'm using a view object that uses Oracle LONG data type. The following exception is thrown
*"java.sql.SQLException: Stream has already been closed"* and it is not fetching the correct data.
I have searched in many forums, they suggested to use LOB instead of LONG as LONG is deprecated. But in my case I can't avoid using LONG as some of my legacy applications using the same DB.
Please suggest me a way
Thanks in Advance
FelixThanks for your reply Arun,
I have solved this problem using the solution suggested by this blog [AskTom-Link|http://asktom.oracle.com/pls/asktom/f?p=100:11:0::::P11_QUESTION_ID:839298816582]
In the above blog link, they have suggested to convert Long to Varchar by functions and asked to use this function in the column.
Thank you all guys who have seen this post.

EJB 3.0 / Data control binding / ADF Faces
We have a great and very useful tool to generate rich client web application. Generate web component from a data structure is easy but manage the full life cycle is a little bit more complex. This complexity is dramatically increased when tool/platform are offering many models to solve the problem.
In JDev we have three major choices:
1) adf business components
2) top link pojo
3) ejb3.0
From the client side and in my point of view (at my current understanding) the first and second choice are the easiest way to manage the persistence because they are what i say "bidirectional", that mean i will use the same data structure to persist and synchronize the database. I may only calll a method from the object to put my changes from the midle-tier into the database.
EJB 3.0 seem to be more cormplex due essentially to the presence of the session bean that acts like conversational api. I like this architecture because it is the most flexible but from my client i have to manage these api's instead of one data structure. This mean for me to catch/detect every updates, new insert or deletes in my business object and to write the corresponding code to apply to correct entity bean methods from my session bean.
Why not manage this logic in the data control framework by declaring which methods are to use as finder to get the data and which methods are to used to manage the persistence (persist, merge, remove) at object level.Exactly what i mean
Actually Data Control architecture seem to be business object oriented with native method called from the same object to retrieve (the most part done)/synchronize the data with the database.
This is fine than your architectue don't provide a service layer like session facade.
With session facade you will access different business method to retrieve data and synchronize you data with the database not different method from the same object like application module do in adf bc.
I see two solution, the best is that you extend the data control framework to offer standard crud operation and a tools to map these with one or many methods in the same (has to be the same?this is a question of architecture, i think it has to be the same but the framework may have to permit to use an another one for flexibility) session bean. This may be the same from adf bc or top link but the method may be selected automatically by the tool (wizard).
The second solution is to build specialized sesssion bean with mandatory standardized methods and map this directly in the framework. The advantage i see is that the updates may be collected only once by the session bean by passing a specialized object manipulated by a specialized method.
In fact the best solution is something that combines mapping in the data control and a specialized set of methods in the session bean to execute a transaction in a whole at the server level.
What is to be decided if the framework (data control part) has to maintain a status for attribute (or set of attribute that correspond to a data control node) that are new inserted, updated or deleted and to synchronize only the changes.
I'm very surprising that something like that it is not already in the framework ?
How do I have to take care of changes made in a data control node object when i have used it to generate an adf faces by example in master / detail pages with an edit form like in otn examples. I see that the detail list in the detail table is updated so the data control is updated correctly by the edit form when i submit the changes but how to finally get this changes and synchronize with the database ?
ps i reply previously by mistake by email sorry ... not that the email is not exactly the same as the post here

Use of Incremental Recon Attribute in SearchReconTask
I am attempting to implement Incremental Recon for a custom connector. I am using the oracle.iam.connectors.icfcommon.recon.SearchReconTask and wish to implement an Incremental Recon using the Incremental Recon Attribute. I have added that and Latest Token in the XML when I create my custom Scheduled Task with my custom attributes.
The JavaDoc for this class states:
The following task parameters are supported:
Filter - Filter to be used in SearchApiOp call
Incremental Recon Date Attribute, Incremental Recon Attribute - if the connector supports some attribute which is a good candidate for usage by incremental reconciliation, the attribute name can be specified by one of these parameters, if specified then the SearchApiOp will be executed with Filter containing GreaterThen(${IncrementalReconAttribute}, ${LatestToken}), the difference between these two paramters is that if Incremental Recon Date Attribute is specified, then Latest Token will be formatted as String
Latest Token - If Incremental Recon Date Attribute or Incremental Recon Attribute it will be holding the latest value of the attribute which is specified as incremental
When I define the connector I include the org.identityconnectors.framework.spi.operations.SearchOp interface and the executeQuery as follows:
public void executeQuery(ObjectClass oclass, Object filter,
ResultsHandler resultsHandler,
OperationOptions operationOptions) {
When I execute, the filter is always null. I have attempted this with valid values for Latest Token. I am not seeing either the Incremental Recon Attribute or the Latest Token in the OperationOptions list. Nothing is coming through in the Filter value either.
When I look at the FlatFileConnector.java class in the example, I am seeing an attempt to get a value of LatestToken (no space) which I assume is an error?? Was this tested?
Can anyone provide a real concrete example of using the SearchReconTask with Incremental Recon and explain the process flow? You will have to implement FilterTranslator as well. If you look at SearchOp at http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E21764_01/apirefs.1111/e24834/toc.htm you will see 2 methods to be implemented. One createFilterTranslator and second executeQuery.
You will have to implement FilterTranslator. ICF provides [AbstractFilterTranslator for you to use. Just extend this class and provide implementation for createGreaterThanExpression and createGreaterThanOrEqualExpression APIs.
These methods will be called for filter object. See GreaterThanFilter for more information.
Your implementation should take the attribute and construct a query in string format which your target can understand and return it. This query will sent to your executeQuery API. Without these only null will be sent.

This is probably one of the beginner's questions and I appreciate if someone can teach me how. When e-mailing from Safari, for example, a page includes 'contact information' of a company and sending an e-mail by a click, Safari links to Apple's mail.
