Using prepareStatement for auto_increment value

How do we set a value for auto_increment field on MySQL
stmt = con.prepareStatement("INSERT INTO member VALUES ( ?, ? ,? ....) ) ;
stmt.setDate(1, new java.sql.Date(System.currentTimeMillis()));
stmt.setInt(2, ????);
if value 2 is autoincrement. How do we set it?
Thanks

ThanksWrong, wrong, wrong.
When we said don't set the auto increment column, that meant do not include it in the SQL at all. It does not a bind parameter.
So if your table FOO has columns (ID, X, Y, Z), where ID is the auto increment column, your SQL should be:
String fooInsertSql = "INSERT INTO FOO(X, Y, Z) VALUES(?, ?, ?)";
PreparedStatement ps = connection.prepareStatement(fooInsertSql);
// bind here
int numRowsAffected = ps.executeUpdate();
ResultSet generatedKeys = ps.getGeneratedKeys();
// extract the key from the result set.%

  • How to use Insert for mulit-values

    Can anyone help, I try to insert mulit-values using insert command. but keep getting error. here is the code.
    INSERT INTO PRODUCTS
    VALUES (
    'C','CABLE',39.95,
    'D','DSL',29.95,
    'U','DIALUP_56K',19.95);
    Thank you!

    The SQL you posted isn't valid, assuming that there are only three columns in your table. The type of insert statement you posted can only insert 1 row at a time.
    You could look into loading data into collections and using the bulk insert syntax to insert multiple values in a single statement. Please post to the PL/SQL forum if you need more assistance on this.

  • How to use the same variable value for data entry and the planning sequence

    Hi,
    the scenario is the following:
    Using the WAD template a user enters cost center plan data. The cost center is selected by the chosen value for the variable "V1".
    Afterwards he shall push a button which starts a planning sequence (including saving the data and further functions). This planning sequence uses a filter that also contains the variable "V1".
    What or where has it to be defined that the planning sequence uses automatically the same value for the variable "V1" as selected for the data entry?

    You have to define in the planning function. The planning sequence is only a sequence and it read the planning functions underneath it.

  • How do I search for a value in an Excel sheet using ActixeX

    I am already accessing my excel sheets however I need to be able to search the sheet for a certain value and return the row/cell location. Is there an activeX control that can do this?

    You will need a reference to the range to search. This can be the entire sheet if you wish. Just wire that to the method node Find. Here you can specify all of the typical search options. Wire your string or number into the What input. For the what to LOOKAT value, use -4163 for Value and -4123 for formulas.
    The reference returned is the range of the found value. You can wire it into the property node Row and Column to get the location.

  • Mainframe data loaded into Oracle tables - Test for low values using PL/SQL

    Mainframe legacy data has been copied straight from the legacy tables into mirrored tables in Oracle. Some columns from the mainframe data had 'low values' in them. These columns were defined on the Oracle tables as varchar2 types. In looking at the data, some of these columns appear to have data that looks like little square boxes, not sure but maybe that is the way Oracle interprets the 'low values' in the original data into varchar. When I run a select to find all rows where this column is not null, it selects these columns. In the results of the select statement, the columns appear to be blank, however, in looking at the data in the column using SQL Developer, I can see the odd 'square boxes'. My guess is that the select statement is detecting that something exists in this column. Long story short, some how I am going to have to test this legacy data on the Oracle table using Pl/Sql to test for 'low values'. Does anyone have any suggestions on how I could do this????? Help! The mainframe data we are loading into these tables is loaded with columns with low values.
    I am using Oracle 11i.
    Thanks

  • HR API User Hooks - Can I use to change a value in the table the API for?

    I am trying to initialize a descriptive flexfield on per_all_people_f. I originally tried doing the initialization using a “before row insert” database trigger directly on the table per_all_people_f. Seems to work great in the People form (PERWSHRG), but does not seem to work consistently when a new employee is entered through a template like Enter Employees (PERWSQHM).
    Does anyone know if you can use an API User Hook to initialize a value on one o the tables the API is inserting? For example, could I put a "Before Process" user hook on the "Create_ Employee" API to change the value of a descriptive flexfield?
    Any other good ideas?
    Currently I have a concurrent request that runs once every 30 minutes to default the descriptive flexfield. The delay is causing issues.

    In such cases you should write the code to default the values in the front end PUIs. As one person pointed out, User hooks are provided either to validate the already entered values, or to insert/update data in some custom tables but not for updating values in the same table where data is being inserted/updated.
    BTW for your information:-
    Person form (People Enter and Maintain) does not use APIs so anything written inside the user hook would be ignored by the application when this form is used. (The reason is this is one of the oldest form in HRMS, was created even before the concept of user hook came).
    Template form PERWSQHM uses APIs, so user hook is called when this form is used to create/update the data.
    Hope this is useful.

  • Using HttpHeader to set value for session variables

    Hi,
    We want to set values for 2 session variables (USER and ROLEID) using HttpHeader in obiee 11g. Has anyone tried this? How can we achieve this?
    I found the below note on the forum for setting value for the USER session variable. how can we set the ROLEID session variable also? is it possible to set values for 2 variables?
    for setting the USER session variable,
    You should add this in $BI_HOME/bifoundation/web/display/authenticationschemas.xml:
    <SchemaKeyVariable source="httpHeader" nameInSource="Proxy-Remote-User" forceValue="SSO"/>
    <AuthenticationSchema name="SSO" displayName="Single Sign On" userID="IMPERSONATE" proxyUserID="NQ_SESSION.RUNAS" options="noLogoffUI noLogonUI">
    <RequestVariable source="httpHeader" type="auth" nameInSource="Proxy-Remote-User" biVariableName="IMPERSONATE" options="required"/>
    </AuthenticationSchema>
    Please suggest.
    Thanks.

    I think maybe your SnmpValue type or value is not corrent.
    1.3.6.1.4.1.7064.201.1.200.100.0 is Enum control type
    when I use
    SnmpValue val = new SnmpString("0");
    It doesn't work, but when I use
    SnmpValue val = new SnmpInt(0);
    It works. I think the JDMK should give some warning message when the type is not correct. :)
    The code is following:
    final SnmpVarBindList setList = new SnmpVarBindList(" set varbind list ");
    SnmpOid oid = new SnmpOid("1.3.6.1.4.1.7064.201.1.200.100.0");
    SnmpValue val = new SnmpInt(0);
    SnmpVarBind valueBind = new SnmpVarBind(oid, val);
    setList.addVarBind( valueBind );
    SnmpRequest setRequest = session.snmpSetRequest(null, setList);

  • How does APEX check for null values in Text Fields on the forms?

    Hello all,
    How does APEX check for null values in Text Fields on the forms? This might sound trivial but I have a problem with a PL/SQL Validation that I have written.
    I have one select list (P108_CLUSTER_ID) and one Text field (P108_PRIVATE_IP). I made P108_CLUSTER_ID to return null value when nothing is selected and assumed P108_PRIVATE_IP to return null value too when nothign is entered in the text field.
    All that I need is to validate if P108_PRIVATE_IP is entered when a P108_CLUSTER_ID is selected. i.e it is mandatory to enter Private IP when a cluster is seelcted and following is my Pl/SQL code
    Declare
    v_valid boolean;
    Begin
    IF :P108_CLUSTER_ID is NULL and :P108_PRIVATE_IP is NULL THEN
    v_valid := TRUE;
    ELSIF :P108_CLUSTER_ID is NOT NULL and :P108_PRIVATE_IP is NOT NULL THEN
    v_valid := TRUE;
    ELSIF :P108_CLUSTER_ID is NOT NULL and :P108_PRIVATE_IP is NULL THEN
    v_valid := FALSE;
    ELSIF :P108_CLUSTER_ID is NULL and :P108_PRIVATE_IP is NOT NULL THEN
    v_valid := FALSE;
    END IF;
    return v_valid;
    END;
    My problem is it is returning FALSE for all the cases.It works fine in SQL Command though..When I tried to Debug and use Firebug, I found that Text fields are not stored a null by default but as empty strings "" . Now I tried modifying my PL/SQL to check Private_IP against an empty string. But doesn't help. Can someone please tell me how I need to proceed.
    Thanks

    See SQL report for LIKE SEARCH I have just explained how Select list return value works..

  • How to check for null values in bpel?? Please Help! very urgent!!!

    Hello Guys,
    I have a problem. I have an external webservice to which I have to post my request. My task is to create an Webservice and Service Assembly to which others would post request and get response. I have to create SA to deploy onto the bus.
    The problem is that there are optional elements in the request and response xsd's. In the Response sometimes certain feilds may come or they may not. for Example:- my response could contain a tag like this <firstName></firstName>
    I have to copy these feilds in my bpel process from one variable to another.(like in the mapper).
    My Question is , Is there any way in BPEL process or BPEL mapper where I could Check for null values in the request or response???
    Your inputs would be very helpful.
    Thanks
    Rajesh

    Thanks for replying man :)
    Ok I will be more clear.
    Here is a snippet of one of the xsd's that I am using.
    <xs:element name="returnUrl" nillable="false" minOccurs="0">
                        <xs:annotation>
                             <xs:documentation>Partner specifies the return URL to which responses need to be sent to, in case of
    Async message model.
    </xs:documentation>
                        </xs:annotation>
                        <xs:simpleType>
                             <xs:restriction base="xs:anyURI">
                                  <xs:maxLength value="300"/>
                                  <xs:whiteSpace value="collapse"/>
                             </xs:restriction>
                        </xs:simpleType>
                   </xs:element>
    This means that the return URL field can be there or it may not be there. But if it is there it cant be null because nillable=false. But the whole <returnURL> </returnURL> can be there or it may not be there because minOccurs=0.
    My requirement is , if returnURL is there in the response with a value, then in my BPEL mapper I should map it else I should not map it.
    Thats the issue.
    and Yes kiran, the node be non-existant.
    So can you please help me with this.
    Thanks
    Rajesh

    //do something

    From your post I see you are using a 3rd party package to access the Excel SpreadSheets, you will have to look in your API for you 3rd party package and see if there is a method that will identify a blank row, if there is and it does not work, then you have to take that problem up with them. I know this is a pain, but it is the price we pay for 3rd party object use.
    In the mean time, you can make a workaround by checking every column in your row and seeing if it is null, or perhaps even better: check and see if the trimmed value of each cell has a lenth of 0.
