Using PXI 7352 Motion card and 6025E DAQ

Dear Sir,
I am using SCXI 1520 along with PXI 1011 & E Series DAQ (6025E) to measure the Load Value of a load cell. I am also using PXI 7352 Motion card to control the velocity of a Plunger. Now my requirement is to stop the movement of the Plunger depending on the value I read from the load cell. I am not able to achieve the stoping accuracy for high speeds (around 150mm/sec) in the software. Can it be possible with the use of Motion Control card and RTSI signals? If so, how can I do that? (I am not used any limit switches as the load value at which the Plunger should stop is user programmable and I am using DAQ card in Multiplexed mode because i am reading more number of analog inputs with only one DAQ card)

Hello.
Based on your post I am guessing that you are performing the control in software, i.e. starting a velocity move, and then reading the load cell until it reaches a threshold, then stopping the motion. As such you are essentially limited by the software control loop rates.
You are using PXI so it is possible that you are using real-time. If not, one solution could be to implement a real-time application that would be more deterministic, but again this would still depend on the software.
Depending on your system (stepper or servo), you could implement a direct analog feedback into the motion card itself, but this would require a signal which has a range much greater than your load cells. This is only a good option for servo axes. If this was somehow possible, you can tell the motion controller to move to a specified LOAD instead of a specified position/velocity. Provided you could appropriately condition the signal, this is the best choice.
Unfortunately, you cannot implement limit switches/etc over RTSI, so I believe that this will not be a good option.
A third, and probably most un-desireable option, is to output a voltage on the PXI-6025E proportional to the load received from the load cell. This voltage could then be used as the analog feedback for your motion device. This, however, still adds the software layer of delays.

The first thing you need to figure out is the shape of the trigger pulse needed.
In case you just need a logic high TTL pulse, you can use one of the digital lines of your DAQ device.
In case you need a pulse train (multiple trigger pulses), you will need to configure one of the general purpose counters to accomplish that task.
You can find examples in both Labview and NI-DAQ showing how to program your DAQ board to accomplish both approaches.

PXI 7344 motion controller as a DAQ device for ELVIS

Hi,
Is there a way to reconfigure a PXI-7344 motion controller with its two 68-pin connectors so as to use it as a DAQ device that would receive the signals from a NI ELVIS workstation. The 7344 has a "motion I/O connector" and a "digital I/O connector". Analog outputs are even possible if I remember well, as well as digital.

The card does has some analog input and outputs. I would check the manual here: http://www.ni.com/pdf/manuals/370838b.pdf. The DAQmx API with a DAQ card is going to be much better than interfacing with a motion card, but you should be able to read off it at the least.

Use PCI-e video card and onboard video at same time

This is going to be really annoying if i cant use both at the same time. I am trying to get 3 monitors running and want to use the onboard display port or vga port alongside my PCI-E video card and it seems in the bios that only one can work at a time. I am assuming this means i have to use a PCI card with my PCI-e one to get more than the 2 i have at a time.
Has anyone gotten onboard working alongside a PCI or PCI-E card? Seems like a silly thing to not enable in the Board as businesses have a need for more than 2 sometimes.
Any assistance would be great.

I myself use a M91p with 3 monitors on a AMD HD 6670 plus a 4th on the DP motherboard (Intel HD2000) port.

How come I can't download any free apps or update any app? I used a pre paid card and now I can't do anything.

I used a pre paid card in the App Store. Now when I go to down load updates or free apps it says there was a problem with my last perchase.

PWM Update Rate using PXI 7334 & 6602 cards

I have a NI 8176 controller and a PXI 7334 (FlexMotion) Motion Controller Card. I am using the PWM output to control an actuator and I would like to update the duty-cycle as frequently as possible.
I have the card PWM frequency set to 32 kHz, but can only achieve 1.5 kHz update rate.
The attached VI shows the code I'm using to write to the card.
I also have a PXI 6602 card, I can achieve an update rate of 6.5 kHz with that, but I bought the 7334 card with the expectation of achieving a faster update rate.
Any advice on how to improve the update rate of either card would be appreciated. Likewise, does anyone know another hardware set-up that would be a viable alternative?

Hi Amaury, thanks for the fp2 file, I’ve just moved site, got my lab back yesterday. (please watch the numbers 7344 and 7334 in the text below!)
The FPGA2 firmware I had was Version 5.20.0001, MAX would not allow me to select the file 7344pwm.fp2, I got the message “This file is not valid for the Flexmotion board selected”.
However, I went to C:\Program Files\National Instruments\Motion\FlexMotion\bin and deleted 7344.fp2
I then renamed 7344pwm.fp2 to 7344.fp2 and copied it to the “bin” folder, then in MAX I selected new file to download, pointed to 7344.fp2 and successfully download the new firmware to my 7334 motion controller. Now in MAX the FPGA2 firmware version is 5.20.000f.
Unfortunately I c
an still only update the PWM duty-cycle on my 7334 at 3.6 kHz!
Is this correct? do I need to update the file 7334.fp2 instead? or does the file 7344pwm.fp2 also work for the 7334 card?
Also, is it possible to generate a PWM using the stepper motor output in open-loop mode? If so, do you have example code on how this is done?

Hello I recently disbled my emial that was on file with iTunes. when i tried updating my apps it told me i had to reset everything. so i did. my email and password! obviously i had to log out of all my itunes app store stuff on my phone. when i tried logging back in it told me i had to review some information. it told me i had to put in a method of payment. i dont have a credic card but i have an AmEx gift card. but thats obviously not an option.... I used to have an iTunes gift card on file with my old account. it had under a dollar on it but i dont think thats relevant of makes a diffirence. i was wondering if there was a way to redeem my old gift cards # so i can use my phone again and update apps! Howdy! I have tried to change my Email address with Apple. Since I cannot access my old Email address, they will not let me change my password. Since I cannot recall my old password, they will not allow me to change my Email address. I am in a true Catch 22.

I can't use my iTunes gift card and I'm running out of ideas.

I have been trying to purchase an app from the App Store with an iTunes gift card. I have not used the gift card before. I have, however, activated it in the iTunes app. When I went to purchase the app, it went to the billing information screen. I wanted to touch Gift Card under Payment Type, but I wasn't given that option. So I simply touched None instead. I typed in the rest of my information and touched Done. It asked me if I still wanted to buy the app and I said yes. Then it prompted me to go to the Billing Information screen all over again! For whatever reason, the website won't let me contact Support because "This feature is not currently available in your country or region. Try again later." The problem is, I need to download this app ASAP. I'm getting flabbergasted. What do I have to do to get a stupid paid-for app around here?

This happens for some apps. If you have a computer try to buy on it. Otherwise you will have to enter a credit card or some from of billing.

Using a third-party card and gateway with PowerBook Pismo

My birthday present this year was an Apple PowerBook Pismo - the G3 400 model (full spec. below). It runs the latest version of Mac OSX (10.4.6 as below). Before I got the Pismo, I bought a Linksys WPC54G wireless card for my original laptop, a ThinkPad T23. This works fine with my Linksys WAG354G gateway, but I'm wondering if I can do the same with the Pismo, since original AirPort cards are still hovering at £70-£90.
My Linksys card is the revision-3 ie 'v3' version. It seems to be detected by my Pismo - running the AirPort setup wizard means it is detected and the access point is found. My network is protected with WPA (I think it's version 2) encryption, and AirPort asks me for the network password during setup. However, the next screen is blank - the screen that asks about base stations. Clicking 'Scan Again' does nothing, and I cannot continue. This was all with the original verison of Mac OS 10.4, by the way. I updated the Pismo last night, so I'll have a go with it. Since it is detected by AirPort, would I be correct in thinking the card has the Broadcom chip that is AirPort-compatible? It shows up in Apple System Profiler as 'Third-Party Wireless Adaptor,' if that helps.

Should you need it, the procedure (as I remember it, my Pismo's out of action at the moment) is as follows:
Insert the card into the 'Book and allow Mac OS to find it. Once the 'PC Card' symbol appears beside the clock, click on the symbol and read the drop-down menu. If it says something like 'Unknown brand - Network Controller,' the Pismo has found your card. Next, open 'System Profiler' (Hard Drive -> Applications -> Utilities). Point to 'Network.' If your card is working as expected, it should display 'AirPort Extreme.' If not, you may have a card using another brand of chip, since only cards using BroadCom chips are supported natively by Mac OS. It's hit-and-miss what chip you get in your card - there doesn't seem to be a general trend. My card has the FCC ID 'Q87-WPC54GV3' and the IC ID '3839A-WPC54GV3,' if this helps.
If it does show up as AirPort Extreme, here is the full procedure for setting up the card for your network:
- Open 'System Preferences'
- Head to 'Network'
- There should be an option, possibly in the drop-down box, to select 'AirPort.'
- You will then have the option of switching AirPort on.
- Select 'Only Join Preferred Networks'and either search for your access point, or manually input your router's details (the default IP address for the WAG354G is 192.168.1.1).
- Now, when you insert your card, AirPort should automatically switch on and connect to your network. Naturally, if you want to use your Pismo on the move, you'll have to uncheck the above and try another way. Enabling the 'Show AirPort Status' is useful, while you're there.
Take this as a rough guide. My Pismo has a battery problem, so I'm having it sorted. As such, I can't actually use it, so when the 'Book is back in action, I'll double-check the procedure (I don't posess another Mac other than an ancient iMac G3, long before wireless). The Mac should remember your WEP or WPA key, unlike the Linksys Windows utility, which is tempermental at best.

Why not use both a PC card and the Mac card?

Well I'm looking at possibly getting a MacPro because my wife wants cut down on my computer clutter and she realizes that macs can run windows now. Basically here is my concern. I am a PC gamer there is no getting around that. I'm also waiting for the new DirectX 10 cards to come out, and obviously Vista.
So anyways on to my question. I've read that you can't replace the MacPro stock cards but there is also extra slots for the cards. Now I'm not sure how bootcamp works since i'm still on PPC, but couldn't you just leave the stock macpro card in and lets just say I did have a PC video card, would Bootcamp be able to use that, or is there a way to designate which video card for bootcamp to use?

From what I gather, you can put a standard (made for PC) PCIe graphics card in one of the slots. It's just that you have to swap your monitor lead over when you boot into Windows - unless, of course you have a spare monitor, where you can just leave it plugged in.
I've not tried it yet, but will install XP and an Nvidia 6800GT this weekend... I'll let you know how it goes - although I don't know if the supplied 7300 is a better or worse card (comment anybody?)
But, in the long term, when(!) and if(!) Vista ever supports EFI booting, I'm sure the graphics card makers will make their ROMs both BIOS/EFI compatable... Hopefully then, with a re-flashed ROM, we may be able to install and use off-the-shelf video cards, but don't hold your breath.

I made the update to Os X Mavericks and my MacBook Pro 13' is having some isues; the SD slot card is not readding the cards. Sometimes, when I have a couples of hours using the lap, when I open the finder or any file, there are only the name of the files, but not images and I can open then even if I selected. Yes. That happens automatically when a purchase is made that exceeds the account balance or can't be made with gift card money and a credit card is set up.
