Using render:pageUrl tag

Good Day,
<p>
I am using the <render:pageUrl> tag to render content in a page/portlet. Selecting a link constructed by the pageUrl tag the page renders OK but only once. I attempt to use the <render:pageUrl> several times to call the same page/portlet but the called page/portlet does not refresh with new content.
<p>
The begin() action in the called jpf (Test_Data_Page) is only called once, after the first call it is not called by subsequent calls using the other constructed URLs.
<p>
Each of the following URLs exist on a single portlet. I want to render different content based on the selected link. Help please?
<p>
a href="<render:pageUrl pageLabel="Test_Data_Page">
<render:param name="test" value="test1" /></render:pageUrl>">test 1</a>
<p>
a href="<render:pageUrl pageLabel="Test_Data_Page">
<render:param name="test" value="test2" /></render:pageUrl>">test 2</a>
<p>
a href="<render:pageUrl pageLabel="Test_Data_Page">
<render:param name="test" value="test3" /></render:pageUrl>">test 3</a>
<p>
Thank you,<br>
Everette

Thanks for the tips. I was using the same syntax as in the docs, but let me try
this one. Also, maximizing the portlet will not work, because even in the detailed
view, there are a couple other portlets that still need to be shown.
I also tried the syntax suggested below, but it always returns http://localhost:7001/myportal
as the url. Not sure what is going wrong.

Another thing to consider instead of switching pages is to simply maximizing
the
news portlet when someone clicks a news item link. Maximizing will a)
make your
news portlet take up all the real estate on the page, and b) stop all
the other
portlets on the page from rendering. You can use the windowUrl tag (http://edocs.bea.com/workshop/docs81/doc/en/portal/taglib/www.bea.com/servers/portal/tags/netuix/render/windowUrl.html)
to do it.
Hope that helps,

Basically, I have a portlet that shows news items. This page has several
other
portlets also. What I need to do is - when a user clicks on any news
item, I need
to show the detailed news item. I am open to ideas on how to do this

portlets
need to be hidden. I think the best solution is to call a new pagewhich
has a
portlet to handle the detailed news. So all I should have to do iscreate
a link
to this new page, and pass it the newsId. Thus I was using the render:pageURL,

  • How to render liquid tags in the console?

    Hello!
    I have been trying to render liquid tags in the browser's console using Javascript, but it doesn't work.  This is what I have been doing:
    document.getElementById('globals').innerHTML = '<pre>{{globals | json}}'</pre>;
    That just seems to write {{globals | json}} to the web page.

    BC's tag parser is only applied to files that are considered 'pages', and only runs once, when the page is served. It doesn't get applied to javascript files, and it is not directly accessible from the browser.
    If you need to refresh the display of globals without reloading the page, you could create dedicated page that contains only {{ globals }} and GET it with the JSON=true parameter.

  • Using the CellRepeater Tag

    Hi
    Is it possible to specify a table header using the cellRepeater Tag ? i am bale
    to get my table rendered dynamically using a cellRepeater tag but am not able
    to get the table header.
    The doc does not specify any attribute for table header . Wonder why it was omitted
    as this is such a cool tag .
    Any inputs to the above would be great
    Thanks

    Eddie
    The whole reason for me using the cellrepetaer tag is that we have a requirement
    to dynamically create a table and its columns depending on the total number of
    result objects returned from domain . I was able to get the table dynamically
    created with the dynamically provided number of columns but was not able to incorporate
    table headers for the same . For example if we have 3 columns then we need 3 headers
    , if 2 cols then we need 2 headers etc.
    The way i got around it it have a separate cellrepeater tag and its purpose is
    just to render the column headers depending on the number columns available .
    Is there any struts equivalent to cellrepeater tag ? I wish there were :) but
    hey i still love this tag as it made my job a lot easier .
    Thanks

    This isn't something that the cellrepeater supports in 8.1. It was
    really intended to just
    render cells without the top row set aside as the table header.
    You might be able to accomplish something similar using the repeater
    and occasionally rendering a
    </tr><tr> to close the current row, but I haven't tried this case myself.
    How would you want the table header on the cellrepeater to work?

  • Does ADF supports using HTML5 canvas tag?

    Hi
    My use case is to render the PDF using canvas tag introduced in HTML5 and java script. but I could not find any ADF faces component with Canvas behavior so I thought of using html canvas tag in a jsff page directly
    I am new to JDeveloper so please let me know is there a way to use HTML5 tags directly on .jsff page?
    Thanks,
    Suresh K

    I'm not aware of y component in adf that supports canvas. You can try to include yout html in f:verbatim tags and see what you get.

    hi all,
    I am doing programs in sturts. My program
    My program purpose is to retrieve data from the
    database.My database is MySql. I know that we can
    write connection code in Action Class, it is ok for
    some less prog's if i want to use the sane connection
    code in more Action Classes it is vasting time and
    so.I don't think it's a good idea to put database code in Action classes. (That's one of the biggest drawbacks of Struts - it's completely tied to Actions, HTTP, and the Web.) Better to move that code into plain old Java objects and let the Actions call them.
    You'll be able to test them without the container or Struts, and you'll be able to reuse those objects in other, non-Web contexts.
    So i want to use <data-sources> tag that is available
    in struts-config.xml. I know that thre is tag withThis is the wrong place to configure a connection pool, too. Struts should have nothing to do with it. What if you change Web frameworks to WebWork or Spring? The connection pool should be configured in the container that hosts your app, not Struts.
    this name, but the problem is i don't know how to use
    this tag. If any budy know how to use this please
    tell me the syntax or any example.
    plese... reply soon..Don't do it. Think about doing it in your container, not Struts.

    Hi harish,
              Procedure for using a Struts Tag Libraries in weblogic 8.1 :
              â€¢Copy the tag lib jar files under WEB-INF/lib ( if tag handler supplied as
              classes without package a jar file then we need to copy the classes
              under WEB_INF/classes.
              â€¢ Copy the tld files files under WEB-INF or create a directory under
              WEB-INF and copy tld files under this directory.
              â€¢ We need to give the information about the tag libraries in web.xml by
              adding the following lines to it as,
              <taglib>
              <taglib-uri>bean</taglib-uri>
              <taglib-location>/WEB-INF/struts-bean.tld</taglib-location>
              </taglib>
              <taglib>
              <taglib-uri>html</taglib-uri>
              <taglib-location>/WEB-INF/struts-html.tld</taglib-location>
              </taglib>
              <taglib>
              <taglib-uri>logic</taglib-uri>
              <taglib-location>/WEB-INF/struts-logic.tld</taglib-location>
              </taglib>
              To use tags in jsp file we need to add taglib directive as ,
              <%@ taglib uri="logic" prefix=“logic"%>
              <%@ taglib uri="html" prefix=“html"%>
              <%@ taglib uri="bean" prefix=“bean"%>
              Every tag can support zero or more number of attributes and a tag may or
              may not support body content
              Every Tag Library Uniquely identified by uri defined in web.xml.
              we can use the tags in jsp according to the tags and attributes which are defined in *.tld files.
              if we look at .tld files we can find several tags and its attributes.
              note :any jar files that are related to struts framework ,place under the lib directory of the webapplication.

  • How to use JSP custom tag lib in PAR file?

    Hi All,
    I am trying to customize mastheaderpar file. For that I have downloaded relevant par file and making the changes accordingly.
    As part of the changes I would require to use JSP custom tag library in my par file.
    I have the TLD file and relevant classes in the jar file. I would like to know where and what kind of modifications have to be done to use the jsp custom tag library.
    I tried modifying some things in portalapp.xml but was not successful.
    Please help me on how to proceed with this? It would be great if you can provide the xml entry to use this tag library
    Thanks
    Santhosh

    Hi Johny,
    Thanks for the reply. Actually I am able to change colors etc. with out any problem.
    My requirement is to use XMLTaglib in mastheader par file. This tag lib is from apache tomcat. I have the relevant TLD and class files. I copied TLD file into taglib dir of portal-inf and class file in src api.
    And I have added the following line in portalapp.xml under component-profile section of default
    <property name="tlxtag" value="/SERVICE/Newmastheader/taglib/taglibs-xtags.tld">
    Is this the right way to use tag lib? Actually before adding this line I used to get the error saying "Error parsing taglib", but now the error does not occur and I am getting new error. This is an exception in one of the taglib classes.
    Could any one provide me some inputs on how to check this error?
    Thanks
    Santhosh

  • How to use my own tag in XMP

    I have translated HTML to PDF. It is working properly if I use only DC Metadata.
    But if I write other tag in XMP and load this file in PDF, I cannot see right information.
    I want to use my own tag such as "co-author" and "related paper".
    I define this kinds of tags as namespace and XML Schema.
    Then I want to use this tag in PDF. But I don't know how to do after this.
    How can I do? How can I use my own tag(element or attribute) in XMP?
    Actually I don't have much experience to deal with XMP.
    please help.

    Will you clarify where you are looking for your custom information.
    It should display in Acrobat.
    Acrobat 7 File menu > Document Properties... > Additional Metadata... > Advanced > {list of namespaces}
    Your tags should appear under the namespace you used.

  • Problem in Iterating using logic:iterate tag

    Hi ,
    I am using <logic:iterate> tag to iterate through a list of contents.
    When the List size is 1222, all the Contents in the List are displaying properly.
    When the size execdes 1223, the JSP is not displaying properly.
    I am not getting any exception also.
    I have added try and catch. Still it is not showing any exception.
    When the size is more than 1300, Some contents are not displaying in JSP.
    Can any one provide some inputs, so that I can crack my issue.
    The JSP code :
              <logic:iterate id="someXXXX" property="someXXX" name="someXXX" indexId="count" scope="request">
              <tr>
    <td><html:text name="someXXXX" property="someXXXX"
                             size="50" maxlength="50" onchange="setDirty()" indexed="true"/> </td>
    <td height="15" align="center"><html:checkbox property="someXXXX" name="someXXXX" indexed="true" onclick="setCheckboxFlag(this)" />
                   <td width="4"> </td>
              </tr>
              <html:hidden property="someXXXX" name="someXXXX" indexed="true" />
              </logic:iterate>
    Thanks,
    RamaKrishna

    get the records and store them in a collection. Store the collection in session. take the first 10 records as a subset and pass it to the iterate tag. use the hidden field to keep the last record number in the jsp. So when you first see the jsp the first 10 records will be shown and when user clicks for next records send the hidden field value to the server and take next 10 records as subset and pass it to iterate tag. This is how you can do this. but if you have thousands of records storing them in the session is not recommended. you can pull them directly from the database.

  • Using a custom tag with a 2.3 servlet descriptor BUG?

    Hi,
    I just developed a Custom Tag and I'd like to use in my jsps.
    If I add the jsp in my JDev project with the custom tag when I try to build the project I got this error:
    Error(11): oracle.xml.parser.v2.XMLParseException: Invalid element 'listener' in content of 'web-app', expected elements '[context-param, servlet, servlet-mapping, session-config, mime-mapping, welcome-file-list, error-page, taglib, resource-ref, security-constraint, login-config, security-role, env-entry, ejb-ref]'.
    It seems like when the jsp parser encounters the line with taglib it tries to parse the web.xml against a 2.2 version of the dtd. My web.xml begins with the correct dtd version (2.3). Can anyone tell me if this is a bug and eventually tell me how to solve it?
    thanks,
    Giovanni

    I repost this issue again, now with a simple test case.
    If I wrote a simple custom tag:
    import java.io.IOException;
    import javax.servlet.jsp.tagext.TagSupport;
    public class MyCustomTag extends TagSupport {
    public int doStartTag() {
    try {
    pageContext.getOut().print("FOO");
    } catch (IOException ioe) {
    pageContext.getServletContext().log(ioe.getMessage(),ioe);
    return(SKIP_BODY);
    with the associated tld:
    <?xml version = '1.0' encoding = 'windows-1252'?>
    <taglib>
    <tlibversion>1.0</tlibversion>
    <jspversion>1.2</jspversion>
    <shortname>try</shortname>
    <uri>try</uri>
    <info>A short description...</info>
    <tag>
    <name>mytag</name>
    <tagclass>MyCustomTag</tagclass>
    <bodycontent>EMPTY</bodycontent>
    </tag>
    </taglib>
    and a jsp using the custom tag:
    <%@ page contentType="text/html;charset=windows-1252"%>
    <HTML>
    <HEAD>
    <META HTTP-EQUIV="Content-Type" CONTENT="text/html; charset=windows-1252">
    <TITLE>
    Hello World
    </TITLE>
    </HEAD>
    <BODY>
    <H2>
    The current time is:
    </H2>
    <P>
    <% out.println((new java.util.Date()).toString()); %>
    <%@ taglib uri="try.tld" prefix="try" %>
    <try:mytag />
    </P>
    </BODY>
    </HTML>
    all runs fine if I have a web.xml with the dtd version 2.2
    <?xml version = '1.0' encoding = 'windows-1252'?>
    <!DOCTYPE web-app PUBLIC "-//Sun Microsystems, Inc.//DTD Web Application 2.2//EN" "http://java.sun.com/j2ee/dtds/web-app_2_2.dtd">
    <web-app>
    <description>Empty web.xml file for Web Application</description>
    <session-config>
    <session-timeout>30</session-timeout>
    </session-config>
    <mime-mapping>
    <extension>html</extension>
    <mime-type>text/html</mime-type>
    </mime-mapping>
    <mime-mapping>
    <extension>txt</extension>
    <mime-type>text/plain</mime-type>
    </mime-mapping>
    <welcome-file-list>
    <welcome-file>index.jsp</welcome-file>
    <welcome-file>index.html</welcome-file>
    </welcome-file-list>
    </web-app>
    but if I use the version 2.3 because I want filters,context listeners and so on:
    <?xml version = '1.0' encoding = 'windows-1252'?>
    <!DOCTYPE web-app PUBLIC "-//Sun Microsystems, Inc.//DTD Web Application 2.3//EN" "http://java.sun.com/j2ee/dtds/web-app_2_3.dtd">
    <web-app>
    <description>Empty web.xml file for Web Application</description>
    <filter>
    <filter-name>FilterRedirector</filter-name>
    <filter-class>org.apache.cactus.server.FilterTestRedirector</filter-class>
    </filter>
    <!-- Filter Redirector URL mapping -->
    <filter-mapping>
    <filter-name>FilterRedirector</filter-name>
    <url-pattern>/FilterRedirector/</url-pattern>
    </filter-mapping>
    <session-config>
    <session-timeout>30</session-timeout>
    </session-config>
    <mime-mapping>
    <extension>html</extension>
    <mime-type>text/html</mime-type>
    </mime-mapping>
    <mime-mapping>
    <extension>txt</extension>
    <mime-type>text/plain</mime-type>
    </mime-mapping>
    <welcome-file-list>
    <welcome-file>index.jsp</welcome-file>
    <welcome-file>index.html</welcome-file>
    </welcome-file-list>
    </web-app>
    I get the error I report in my last post. (the jsp doesn't compile) If I remove the custom tag from my jsp all works fine (filters, listeners,etc). In my project settings I use the 2.3 version of servlet.jar instead of the ServletRuntime that comes with JDeveloper.
    Can anyone tell me how to resolve this issue (Using simple custom tag with a web application using the 2.3 servlet specs)?
    Thanks in advance,
    Giovanni
    If I remove the filter secion all

  • JDev 11, Should we use f:verbatim tag in ADF faces pages?

    When you type something in a facet in a jspx page it automaticaly get into an f:verbatim tag.
    yet in the code it has a warning:
    Using f:verbatium tag can cause undesirable results when used with PPR navigation. For inlining styles or javascript, af:resource should be used instead.
    Also if you use call and return from a dialog page, the page is procken
    [http://adfbugs.blogspot.com/2009/08/returning-from-dialog-to-page-that-has.html]
    Is this a bug? or we should not use f:verbatim?

    You shouldn't be using f:verbatim to just display text on your page instead put the text into one of the output components - such as outputText or the formatted outputText.
