Using resources from webcenter 11.1.1.2
Hi everybody,
I'm working on webcenter 11.1.1.5 and I want to use the page template defined in webcenter 11.1.1.2 which does not provide the possibility to manage resources.
How can I do ??? (implementing a page template from scratch ???

The simple thing would be ,
1)Open the 11.1.1.2 project in jdeveloper 11.1.1.5.0 version.It will ask you to migrate the files in 11.1.1.5.0 format,accept it.
2)Run the application , if it is running then it's okay for you. And if not running then copy the template code and it's corresponding page defination file, and paste both the files in your 11.1.1.5.0 project's template.And create portal resources in jdevoper itself.
Hope it is clear for you. This is not a solution but a workaround.

Using resources from an external JAR inside a JAR
Hi,
I'm trying to package all parts of my application into a JAR file so I can deploy my application using Java Web Start. However, I have an issue.
I need to use the files from an external JAR, Ice.jar, with my application. Therefore, I included Ice.jar in my build, specifically in the lib/Ice.jar directory.
This does not seem to be working; my application cannot read the information from the Ice.jar file when I launch my JAR file. It does work in one instance, however:
I have a directory included in the same directory where my JAR file is. This directory is named lib, and contains Ice.jar. My directory structure is as follows:
dist
dist/NVAC.jar //my JAR
dist/lib/Ice.jar //the external JARMy JAR file, NVAC.jar, will ONLY work if that lib directory is included in its directory. This is NOT what I want to do; I want to include the external JAR inside my JAR file, so a user will only have to download the JAR file. I have included the external JAR inside my JAR as I mentioned previously; at the path myJAR/lib/Ice.jar.
Therefore, how do I use a resource from an external JAR inside my JAR? Do I have to use ClassLoader? ClassLoader.loadClass() perhaps?
If I can provide any more information, please let me know.
ThanksSeems to me it isn't practical to want to do things
that don't work. Especially since you're using
WebStart and it takes care of dependent jars
automatically for you if you configure things
correctly, so this absurd idea of jars inside jars
isn't even helpful.Dang DrClap, you seem to be the go-to guy for destroying all my ridiculous ideas (no offense; I mean that in a good way).
Seems I did not understand JWS fully when I thought of that idea. I researched it more after reading the replies here, and I see that I was indeed thinking absurdly.

Access resource from other application using JAAS
i use JAAS for autenticate and autorizate in my web application, but i need access a resource from the other application , but this application don�t use JAAS.
How can i acces this resource from other application?

Can you ping server.domain.com from your client?
If you can ping it, then make sure your port is added as a rule in the firewall of the server.
Also make sure that the proxy setting of the client have an exception to server.domain.com.
If you cannot ping it, make sure the server and the client are conneted to the same network and make sure the hosts file on the client reflects the ipaddress and the hostname of the server.

OSB - Load Resources From URL using proxy
Hi all,
How does one force the OSB to use a proxy server when using the Load Resources From URL option?
I'm trying to create a wsdl resource from an url, but the OSB needs to use a proxy to access the url.
I've tried creating a Proxy Server under System Administration -> Global Resources -> Proxy Servers, but I can't seem to find a place to make it use a proxy server?
How do guys and gals get wsdl files though a proxy?

I tried setting -Dhttp.proxyHost=12.34.56.78 -Dhttp.proxyPort=80 in the startWebLogic.cmd file under the ...\domain\bin folder. But still can't download the wsdl.

Problem using Resource Bundle in XSLT File
Hi All,
I've been trying to use Resource Bundle on my XSLT file with no success for the last 2 weeks. So I would like some help to definitely end this problem.
The fact is that i have a property file that i would like to read and it works fine when i use jsp or a servlet however when i try to call the same property file using my XSL i get the message below:
java.util.MissingResourceException: Can't find bundle for base name thoth, locale en_US
Follow the code from my Stylesheet that i'm calling the resource bundle:

Please someone could help me why this file cannot be located, I am 100% of sure the property file path is in my classpath since it works fine in a servlet. Should i have to put it some other place? Do i have some other way to read this file and show the information from the file?

Is the property file in your classpath? or whether the directory where the property file is residing is in your classpath. Please put only the directory where the property file is located in the classpath and try again.
It may be working fine with the servlet because j2ee servlet containers put the classes and lib directory automatically in the classpath therefore resource bundle gets loaded even without putting it explicitly in the classpath. This doesn't happen when you try to test some component from the console.
Let me know if this does not work.

Using resource bundler with a specific encoding type
Hi All,
Using resource bundler class in Java one can pass the key and get the appropriate string value for that in appropriate language. These strings can be stored in a class (BuldlerList) or in some file.
My doubt is can I specify the encoding type of the string while passing the key ?
This might be needed in a case like follows. Say I have a Java Swing application for which I want to get the labels in appropriate language. The application is Windows based. The methods in resource buldler class while getting the string value for a key uses platform's default encoding type. So if I store my file containing all the resource bundler in UTF-8 I can't read them properly from an Windows 2000 system having Japanese as the locale. The constraint is that you can never make Windows default platform encoding as UTF-8 (or something equivalent for Unicode). In that case one cannot developed a truly internationalised application in this frame work.
Any comments/suggestion/input will be highly appreciated.

SouravI dunno 'bout the bundles BUT u can possiblly use XML
instead.
u can have a attribute type that specifies the encoding
type for the content. This will be a totally application
specific approach BUT it will work.. that much I am sure
of. IF u read this attribute in your application first and
then read the value, in that pre-specified encoding, ur
problem could be solved.
Just like resource bundles, XML files will be stored in
local machines only. The only thing is u need a
JAXP API for processing them.

thanks for your contribution. But how I already said we have seen that the first error message:
The error is: javax.servlet.UnavailableException: Cannot load a validator resource from '/WEB-INF/validator-rules.xml,/WEB-INF/validation.xml'
But behind that message is an additional message that describes the real root cause of the problem:
SEVERE: Cannot find resource "org/apache/commons/digester/xmlrules/digester-rules.dtd"
org.apache.commons.digester.xmlrules.XmlLoadException: Cannot find resource
"org/apache/commons/digester/xmlrules/digester-rules.dtd"
Unfortunately we have no idea why the dtd file can not be loaded. The appropriate line of code is:
getClass().getResourceAsStream("<link_to_resource")
And this returns a NULL object. The NULL object causes the general exception and finishes the instantiation of Struts.
Any additonal hints?

Pass parameter FROM webcenter page TO dropped portlet

I have created a webcenter page
I have created a ADF remote portlet
I have regsitered the portlet as producer under webcenter page "Connection"
I dragged the portlet on webcenter (jspx) page.
now, my design requires that, i should be able to pass the paramter called "Country URL" that is available in webcenter page's backing bean TO this dropped portlet's SRC tag of IFRAME.
is it possible to pass paramter FROM webcenter page's backing bean TO SRC of IFRAME inside dropped portlet ?
If yes, the how will src refer to webcenter backing URL parameter ? ( like binding ...............)

ddThe idea stays the same in WebCenter. The technique i have described above does not change when you use ADF portlets.
There are only a few steps required:
1) Create the parameter in portlet.xml
2) assign the parameter to your portlet (also in portlet.xml)
3) deploy portlet
4) create a page parameter in webcenter on the page you are dropping the portlet on
5) assign the page parameter to the value of the portlet parameter
That's it.
Notice that the link in the above post of me (from 2010) is about JSR 168 portlets. Since WebCenter PS3, webcenter supports JSR 286 and some things change like you do not need to create the parameter in the oracle-portlet.xml anymore. You can easily do this in the portlet.xml

I've tried various combinations of casting & convert functions, all of them give an ORA-29506 error 'Invalid query derived from USING clause', and nothing useful is gained from google about this. Is there a way of specifying the class binary in this way?You can load Java classes into the database, then create a PL/SQL procedure or function in the database that calls that Java class.
This leaves you with a standard PL/SQL procedure/function which you can call from Oracle Forms.

I am having issue when using XSD from MDS. ( AIA 11G)
I have created MDS connection and tested it and it workds. Through SOA Browser -> Resource Pallet I am able to brouse XSD also. After selecting XSD when i import , I get below mentioned error

Bikashi run into the same issue a lot and it seems that everytime i modify the composite or the bpel, somehow all the userid, password, and jdbc-url properties are removed from the adf-config file. i always have to restore to a previous version from history. i have no idea what causes jdeveloper to remove these tags and haven't yet found a remedy for this problem.

Create Resource from URL (WSDL) through corporate proxy?
In OSB I Create a Resource from a URL (WSDL) but I get a "No resource found".
Im using this service to test...

I suspect its because it needs to route though our corporate proxy. Do I set this up in the OSB or the Weblogic Administration Console?
I setup the proxy in the OSB, but it appears I can only assign it to a business service at this point, but I cant create my business service till I load in the WSDL url.
This works fine for internal WSDL's inside our network. Does anyone know how to configure weblogic or osb to take traffic through a corporate proxy so it can find the test wsdl on an external network?

In SB Console go to System Administration > Global Resources > Proxy Servers... Add a new proxy server there...
In your Business Service you configure the proxy server under Advanced HTTP Transport Configuration...
You can create the WSDL on SB Console by copy and pasting the WSDL content...

OIM 10G hide resources from standard request wizard
We have created 65 resources in OIM 10G which must be requested by a custom request page in OIM. This is working fine, now we neet to hide those resources from the standard resourcer self-request page in OIM.
How can we do that ?
is there some kind of fixed filter we can use? (we added a new OBJ field named OBJ_UDF_CATEGORY and this field could be used as a filter)
