Using RUN_PRODUCT to run a report in a web form

I have a web-based Oracle form with a button that, when pressed, calls RUN_PRODUCT to run a report. Reports Server can find the file and run it, but the screen output appears on the machine running Reports Server!
Is there a way to have the output appear on the machine running the form? I am running Application Server 9i on a Windows NT 4.0 machine, and the machine I'm using to run the form is running IE 5.5 as well as Windows NT 4.0.

Use Web.Show_Document and specify the URL for where your report is made.

  • Help me in using RUN_PRODUCT to call a report from form

    Hi GURUs
    I am trying to call a report from a form.
    I enter hiredate as input parameter in the form and click the 'run report' button.
    The hiredate value will be sent to report via pl_id, TEXT_PARAMETER,:CTL.TXT_DT as shown below in when button pressed trigger
    DECLARE
    pl_id ParamList;
    BEGIN
    pl_id := Create_Parameter_List('tmpdata');
    Add_Parameter(pl_id,'HRDATE',TEXT_PARAMETER,:CTL.TXT_DT);
    Run_Product(REPORTS, 'C:\empreport.RDF', SYNCHRONOUS, RUNTIME, FILESYSTEM, pl_id, NULL);
    END;
    Coming to report side its a simple query select * from emp where trunc(hiredate) > trunc(:hrdate);
    I created 'hrdate' user parameter in the report
    The problem is when I run the form it calls report and shows the report parameter form with the carried value. now I have to run report again.
    How do I supress this paramenter form because when I am sending value from form I dont have to see the parameter form at the report.
    I dont know how to use paramform = no with RUN_PRODUCT
    Please tell me what to do it....
    Thanks

    Looking at the Forms documentation it specifies, "To run a report from within a form, you must use the dedicated report integration built-in RUN_REPORT_OBJECT." The RUN_PRODUCT built-in is used to run the Graphics product. I suggest you give RUN_REPORT_OBJECT a try. This is how we call a report from a form.
    Hope this helps.

    2) in the request form (view->request) selecr the report you want to reprint in the Tools menu select print/republish, in the html page that pop up select output format you want, number of copies =1 submit

  • How to Run Oracle Reports from the web.

    How can we run Oracle Reports from the web - for example from a portal such as "Gateway"
    This is a univeristy that implements Banner - so can we run them from within Banner?

    Yes, of course. And for running the reports-server you need an OAS. Maybe here is a good starting point http://www.oracle.com/technology/documentation/reports.html

  • Show the print dialog when running a report from an Oracle form.

    I would like to be able to print an Oracle report from an Oracle form but
    in addition show the print dialog. My PL/SQL code is shown at the bottom of this post.
    I have set the 'printjob' system parameter to 'YES' in the

    However, as soon as I run it from my form I lose this capability. Setting

  • Calling a report from a web form & specifying PDF format

    Has anyone been able to call a report from Oracle Forms (6i or 9i) in a web browser (i.e. by pressing a button or any other link)? We are having problems generating the report in PDF format when we web deployed our forms. In client server mode it works fine with the report deferring to PDF. But in the web browser it reverts to a messy HTML format with the columns being distorted. Running a standalone report from the web is no problem but when it is linked with a form it goes back to HTML. In the old forms (5.0) we used a function like run_product but I am not sure what the problem is in the new environment.

    Hello,
    According to the way the reports is launched, the format of the reports output depends on the
    variables : FORMS60_REPFORMAT (for Forms 6.0 and 6i)
    Two others variables are used : FORMS60_OUTPUT and FORMS60_MAPPING.
    Can you check the variable FORMS60_REPFORMAT ?
    regards Dennis:
    Thanks for the info. Your suggestion of changing the windows registry setting FORMS60_REPFORMAT to 'PDF' worked! I did not have to make any other changes to the form. I left the run_product format as is in the form and it worked like a charm. When we eventually migrate to Oracle Reports/Forms 9i we will look into using run_report_object. But for now we will stick with Oracle Forms6i. There was no need to alter the other registry settings FORMS60_MAPPING and FORMS60_OUTPUT since I followed the instructions of setting the virtual directories (symbolic links) when I installed the forms and reports services.
    Thanks again for your help!

  • Use run_product call report from form failed.

    Hi Expert,
    I have a report in my application server and run report like below, it works fine.
    run_product(REPORTS,'/gr100/MILK/MILKdev/xxc/reports/XCPO5004',SYNCHRONOUS, RUNTIME,FILESYSTEM, pl_id,NULL);
    Unfortunately, I save the report in DB and run like below, it doesn't work.
    run_product(REPORTS,'210.126.129.201:/gr100/MILK/MILKappl/xxc/11.5.0/reports/KO/XCPO5004',SYNCHRONOUS, RUNTIME,FILESYSTEM, pl_id,NULL);
    210.126.129.201 is the db server ip address.
    I change to run like
    run_product(REPORTS,'210.126.129.201:/gr100/MILK/MILKappl/xxc/11.5.0/reports/KO/XCPO5004',SYNCHRONOUS, RUNTIME,DB, pl_id,NULL);
    I still not work.
    Product version is Forms&Reports 9.0.4
    Will any expert give some advise on this? Or Do you have any idea to call the report from db?
    Thank you in advance!

    Hi Tony,
    Thank you for the update.
    If I use run_product to call a report from a remote server, what is the syntax of it.
    I use run_product(REPORTS,'210.126.129.201:/gr100/MILK/MILKappl/xxc/11.5.0/reports/KO/XCPO5004',SYNCHRONOUS, RUNTIME,FILESYSTEM, pl_id,NULL);
    210.126.129.201 is the server ip address, and /gr100/MILK/MILKappl/xxc/11.5.0/reports/KO/XCPO5004 is the location of the report.
    If this is incorrect, which to be modified.
    Thank you,
    Helen

    can we avoid username/password screen using run_product while calling a report from the form.
    how we can use the same login as in form.
    regards

    You can turn security off from your process.
    Go under adminui under Services/Application and Services/Service Management.
    Search for your process and under the security tab you can disable the security or use the 'Run As' feature to run under a specific user context.

    Your code seems to be implementing metalink note 139546.1 - Using Reports parameter forms with RUN_REPORT_OBJECT on the web.
    For what I can see, the P_ACTION parameter should end in ?...
    i.e.
    P_ACTION=http://<hostname.domain:port>/reports/rwservlet?'
    set_report_object_property (
    repid,
    report_other,
    'paramform=yes P_USER_CONNECT='
    || vc_connect
    || ' P_SERVERNAME='
    || v_reportserv
    || ' P_ACTION='
    || v_report_url
    || '/reports/rwservlet?'
    );If this does not fix your problem, then to troubleshoot further you would have to post the code in your Before Parameter Form trigger of your report.
    Hope this helps,
    UPDATE:
    If the above does not fix your problem, my guess is that report name is not being generated in the hidden runtime values build by the code in the Before Parameter Form trigger.
    i.e.
    http://localhost:8889/reports/rwservlet?report=&destype=cache&desformat=PDF
    The above code will throw error REP-52005: The specified key report does not exist in key map file.

  • Security for reprots running by Report Server

    Hi
    When I run Reports in the a Forms application
    usiing web.show_document() all the parameters
    including user/password appears in address bar .
    what should I do ???
    Thanx

    Hi,
    I presume that you are using run_report_object or run_product to generate the report, and then web.show_document to view it. Why the need for the username and password in cgicmd.dat - am I missing something? This should only be required if you are running web.show_document directly from the form without the built-in methods.
    PS: avoid putting un/psw in cgicmd.dat on a web server - not a good idea.
    Regards
    Pat

  • How to run 2 reports to send 1 PDF e-mail attachment instead of 2 e-mails.

    I used 9i Reports to create 2 reports in a PDF format. I run these reports from a 9i form using the web.show_document command. XML is used to send the 2 e-mails with the reports.
    Is there a way I can combine the running of the reports to make one PDF to created 1 e-mail attachment or run the reports at the same time and attach 2 PDF files to 1 e-mail.
    I have no problems running 1 report and sending 1 e-mail attacment!
    This is example of the XML used in creating the e-mail:
