Using Sales BOMs to deliver goods with various tradenames ?

Hallo all,
we are currently trying to implement Sales BOMs to be able to deliver one material with different tradenames. This is necessary as CMIR would not allow us to send MSDS to the customer with the material name on the sheet.
The Sales BOM is not inventory managed and has material master item category LUMF but we are facing a couple of challenges (like packaging not working). Does anyone has been able to succesful implement a solution for tradenames like this ?
Or is there another possibility to have multiple material names for one invetory managed base material with different material numbers (for MSDS) ?
Thanks in advance for you help
Peter

Michael,
I do not see why you should not use this method if this really does the trick as you are not actually violating any rules.   I have worked on a few SAP RB implementations and I exactly know how things work.
I am curious as you have decided to discontinue using Sales BOM....why did you not look at assembly BOM which fits in RB as built to order item.
Pls let me know

  • Sales BOM And Free Goods

    hi,
I have the following problem, for one of our materials (Norm), we have a sales bom for a material (Nlag). however with the same material, we have free goods of the same main material inclusive. what happens now is that i can only explode either the sales bom or the free goods, but i require both to eplode together.

    Dear Reshigan Govender,
This cannot be taken as a part of the standard functionality. For this development is required.
Do let me know in case of any queries.
    Hope this helps you.
Do award points if you found them useful.

  • Sales BOM And Free Goods workaround

we have 1 good with a sale BOM and we want to give the Same good away as a free good, so if the customer buys 10 he gets one free, however there is a problem with the BOM not exploding. Can anyone suggest a workaround this.

    Hi
I think this is a standard sap issue.
When we give a free good the item category becomes TANN. Now BOM material will have different item category. TAB.
Now for BOM category material, i think there is no free good item category. Probably u can try creating a new category which wil be a free goods category and which will carry all the characteristics of BOM mateerial.
Furthermore i think this will be issue only with exclusive free goods. But if u have inclusive free goods then there will be no BOM issue as there will be no other line item added for free goods.
    Kind regards

  • Using Ant to Build EAR file with Various Configurations

    Hi,
I figured that someone has come across this problem and would be able to help
I am simplifying the complexity of my problem for explanation purposes.
I have the followings WARs: product1.war, product2.war and product3.war where product1.war needs to be deployed with product2.war but product3.war is optional.
So I have them all building the ant script and have them all referenced in the application.xml and no problems.
However, sometimes I would like to build with product3.war and sometimes I would like to build without.
I know that I probably could do some work with if-conditions in the build.xml and maybe have two application.xml files and swap them in accordingly (if war is referenced in application.xml but does not exist in ear then ear will not deploy) BUT in reality I have 10 wars and more than just 1 dependency.
So I am looking for a nicer implementation strategy for having a configurable variety of ear contents and configurations.
    Thanks for reading,
    Katie Wright
    [email protected]

Maybe not the best place, but Ant IS one of the most popular build tools out there.
My take would be to have a single build file that is dynamically generated from a Java program, then fire off an exec command to the Ant script/bat/pl with an argument pointing to your build file.
You can call Ant this way more than once; I've had Ant return me a list of webapps from my versioning software that are displayed in a gui; user selects which ones to build, then a build file is created and Ant is called a second time.

  • Sales bom and assembly bom

i want to make sales bom which consists of all the materials to make a product(machine).this sales bom is available to sales person and he has to select the varients depends upon customer requirement(varient configuration).
then all materials are to be manufactured and are to be available in stock.
after this step assembly person has to assemble the components according to the assembly procedure for that he has to refer assembly bom which consists of logical grouping of components for his easiness in assembly.
so sales bom has to be with materials only(components which are to be produced to make final product) and assembly bom is with logical grouping of these materials according to assembly procedures and total materials are same in sales bom and assembly bom
is there any method in sap to link sales bom and assembly bom which are different for sales and assembly?this is make to order scenario
    thanking you
    srinivas

    Hi Srina,
    The difference between them is
In the assembly bill of materials, the finished product appears in the sales order document.
But in Sales bill of materials, the finished product and the components appear as separate items in the sales order document.
For example the finished product can be a set of office furniture.
you can use the assembly bill of materials to define the composition of the set. The finished product is not stored as an entire set in the warehouse. However, the individual components of the set (for example, chairs, tables, and Almirah) are items in stock. If a customer buys a set of Office furniture, draw the components from stock and deliver them to the customer as a set.
    Hope this help,

  • How to transfer sales bom from SAP R/3 to APO?

    Hi Experts,
I just want to ask how to transfer sales bom from R/3 to APO? if i change my bom usage to 5 and use this BOM in my Production version be enough to send it to APO?
Also, this is my first time using sales bom, could you please help me understand how sales bom work in APO planning?
    Thanks so much.
    Mylene

    Hi Senthil,
Thanks again for your reply. I was trying to CIF sales BOM in APO but only the header material are being created in APO. The component are not added in PDS. This is how I create it in SAP R/3:
    1. transaction cs01 -->  enter header material, plant and BOM USAGE =5
    2. inside cs01, i entered components, quantity for each components and ITEM category = L (stock item)
i also eneterd base quantity for header material
    3. create production version for header material with routing and this BOM
    4. create and activate material CIF model for header and components
    5. create and activate PDS CIF model for header and components.
After doing all these steps, PDS is created in APO but I only have the header material (no components)
I tried changing BOM to other bom usage and components were populated in PDS.
Am i missing nay steps?  Thanks.

  • Sales Order - Sales BOM Items To Parent Item Link

I'm using sales boms and as you know, when a parent item is brought into a sales order, all the bom components are also are brought on the order (rdr1.treetype = 'I') and the component quantites are automatically adjusted when the parent item quantity changes. Works rather well.
I'm trying to find  out which table.field holds the quantity per of the component to the parent and how the components are linked to the parent on the sales order. Meaning how does the system know to change the component quantities so quickly. Especially if there are 3-4 sales kit parent items and some of the components are common between the two?
The real reason I need to know is that i'm trying to great a report that shows the sales kit parent item and all of it's components, with the components showing the quantity per kit.
    Thanks all.

    Hi,
The details regarding the Parent Item and the
Components which are part of the Parent Item
in BOM can be obtained from table ITT1.
The following fields can be taken from the table :
    Parent Item
    Component Element Number
    Component Item
    Quantity

  • Sales BOMs

    Hi,
We are running SBO2007A PL5 and have abandoned our use of Sales BOMs as we have had a large number of issues with using them in our Radio Beacon integration.
What we are wanting to do is use the parent code from the BOM as an actual item, so our customers can continue to order using the same item code they have always used.
I have found that if I attempt to tick inventory item, it won't let me because transactions have occurred.  But if I tick asset item, and then untick asset item, inventory item ticks automatically and I can then update.  I have tested then running transactions using this code and it all seems fine.  Note this is after I have removed the BOM.
Is there any reason I couldn't do this?
    Thanks,
    Michael

  • How to deliver goods without stock in that particular plant and storage loc

    hi,
    sap gurus,
how to deliver goods with out stock in particular plant andstorage location.
    or
    how to configure negative stocks.
    regards,
    balajit

    Ideally not recommended.
Still if you wish to go for it, follow the steps indicated below
    1)  Go to OMJ1 and select the box against the respective plant
    2)  Also go to TCode OMSY, Tick the box "ABp" (Allow Back Posting) for your Company Code, so that you can control postings in the closed period.
    3)  And finally, go to material master and select Plant data/ Storage2 view, tick the box "Neg. stocks in Plant".

  • Sales bom - quantities change?

    Dear SD experts,
I would like to know whether sales bom quanties changeable?
I am creating quotation and using sales bom material and bom material header is only having editable field for Quantity, but i wanted to change the quantities for other materials which are part of bom.
Can I know whether setting is required to make the other materials quantities in editable when I use Sales BOM, pl help ?
    Regards
    Srihari

    hi
I am using bom at va21 - quotation level, will give u how it is flow & what i want, pl confirm ur solution works for me or not
    Sales BOM created thru CS01
    MATERIAL                                    Qty    SU      item category
    10     39998                                     1     NOS    TAP                  -
    THIS IS BOM MATERIAL CODE
    20     70701                                     1       NOS    AGN
    30     70702                                     1       NOS    AGN
    40     70703                                     1       NOS    AGN
    50     70704                                     1       NOS    AGN
when i use the BOM ie., 39998 in VA21  - Qty, SU are in editable & Item Category TAP in Grey/display
similarly other items 20,30,40,50 - except Item category all other fields are in grey/display ie., Qty, SU,
Current settings are not fixed, hence If i chance qty 1 to 2 for 39998, the rest all items quantities gets changed.
now tell me how whether i have any chance for changing the quantities of items
    20, 30, 40,50, because what i have maintained Qty : 1 is from CS01.

  • Use of Sales BOM to force ATP against Bulk Material?

    Background:
Our business was recently acquired, and we have migrated to the parent company's R/3 system.  In our previous MRP system (R/2), we planned, produced, and shipped a single bulk Material ID in Trucks, Rail Cars, Flexi-Bags, and Iso-Tainers.  In the new system, specific Material IDs are now required for each of these modes.  However, we do not store the inventory in these modes, nor do we wish to plan at this detailed level.
    Considered So Far:
Initial suggestion was to use A.T.O. to look through a BOM and automatically create production orders for each customer order. However, this seems to add additional complexity that we do not really need, and makes changing order dates more challenging (have to move both the order and the accompanying Prod. Order).
    Desired Outcome:
Order is entered and priced based upon the mode-specific Material ID, but inventory is relieved from the Bulk material.  In our previous R/2 system, there was a field on the material master called "Std.Prod." which stood for Standard Product Link.  We used it for synonymous products where we produced and inventoried under one name, but sold under several different names.  The customer materials were set up as type SALE and referenced the inventoried material, set as type FINI, in this Std. Prod. field.  Thus, at the header level, the user saw the SALE material, but for planning and at the batch level, the system showed the FINI.
    Options?
I am told that, due to the amount of custom coding and user exits surrounding outputs and interfaces to EDI and other external systems, the use of Material Determination would require too much testing and potentially too much development work.  But, is it the best / correct solution to the problem?  Because right now, I don't have the ability to perform ATP against the inventoried Material, so nothing confirms.  Would the use of a 1 to 1 Sales BOM offer anything different?
    Many Thanks in Advance,
    J.P.

    Hello JP
Material Determination (MD) works with Consignment orders, only you need to assign a MD procedure to the requisite sales document type in config ( TO code OV14). Product substitution, which is a specialized form of MD, makes use of special item cats like TAX and TAPS or TAPA and TAN for main and substitute items respectively, but you can always make copies of them and use them with consignment orders also in conjunction with item category usages like PSHP. PSEL, PSA1 and PSA2. There could be resultant issues, but unless you test you won't know them all.
Your second question about 'Sale would go against the finished good (Truck / Rail material) while the production costs go against the Bulk', brought a new realization in me. You are ordering, pricing and delivering Truck or Rail materials, but those requirements have to be converted to Production orders for bulk material, so from a Sales and Distribution (SD) point of view you  don't need anything extra, therefore work with you Production Planning (PP) consultant to convert the requirements at  PP end?? May be without resorting to MD or BOMs in Sales, you can work with your PP consultant and with standard config or custom development, you may realize your desired outcome.
Also as long as cost is maintained in the sales Material (Truck for example)  with due regard to the additional costs in converting Bulk to truck, you should be fine. Follow the example below:
Standard cost of 1 ton , say X, is stored in Bulk Material master.
Now if there is no additional cost and you just load the bulk material into a truck and if a Truck is 10 ton, then Truck material would have 10X in its material master for cost.
But if there is some other material  and/or  labor involved in converting bulk to Truck and their cost is y, then you will have (10x+y) in your truck material. Also it is worthwhile to capture the additional cost in the Production/Assembly order via components and operations.
Your problem is not insurmountable, but you need to assemble a team of SD. PP, MM and CO experts to design an integrated solution for you.

  • Free goods with materials having BOM

I have defined a free goods procedure and assigned it but get a warning message as below. It doesn't give free goods at the sales documents because the paid material has a BOM. How can I come over this problem and give free goods with the material including the ones with BOMs?
    Thanks in advance.
    Message no. V1684
    Diagnosis
There are certain business transactions where it is not possible to
determine free goods in the SAP standard system: reason 3
    Explanation of reasons
1      Document category is not from sales order category (VBTYP <> 'C')
    2      Lower-level item
    3      Bill of material
    4      Product selection
    5      Configurable item
    6      Scheduling agreement/forecast delivery schedule
7      Item with active ingredient management
    8      Item without schedule lines

    hi,
    Go thru this details
"Free goods can only be supported on a 1:1 ratio. This means that an order item can lead to a free goods item. Agreements in the following form are not supported: ‘With material 1, material 2 and material 3 are free of charge‘ or ‘If material 1 and material 2 are ordered at the same time, then material 3 is free of charge‘.
Free goods are not supported in combinations with material structures (for example, product selection, BOM, variants with BOM explosion).
Free goods are only supported for sales orders with document category C (for example, not quotations).
Free goods are not supported for deliveries without reference to a sales order.
Free goods cannot be used in make-to-order production, third-party order processing and scheduling agreements.
If you defined a free goods for variants in a generic article (only SAP Retail), you can only process the variants in the purchase order and goods receipt individually (as single articles). In other words, you cannot process them using the generic article matrix."

  • Sales BOM - Delivery Quantity check during post goods issue

I am working on a problem in my company.  We are running ECC6.0 ehp 4.  We are using standard ERLA functionality with sales bom (5) for product kits.  Delivery manager has requested that we investigate a system check during delivery post goods issue.  THe problem is that when shipper processes delivery, if they have to backorder they update pick and delivery quanity on the TAE item.  They should also update TAQ delivery quantity, so that backorder amount is correct.  If they make data entry error, backorder quantity is incorrect.  The delivery manager has tried a number of attempts to re-train and correct mistakes.  He is now asking that SAP issue a hard error if TAQ and TAE delivery item quantities are not the same.
I have searched on SAP Notes, Forms, and Google and do not see solution.  I know that at delviery item category there is a minimum qty check for the item category.  I've not found a user exit or configuration point that checks quanities.  Does anyone know of out of the box solution?  Or where would I put in custom user exit?
    Test Case
    Create Standard Order
    Enter Material with Sales BOM
    ITEM A     Qty 10
    BOM explodes with Item categories
    ITEM A     TAQ parent
    ITEM B     TAE child
    Create Delivery
Delivery has item categories TAQ and TAE
TAE is pickable, TAQ no pick
    Process TAE
         Pick quantity of 5 items
Change delivery quantity to 5 items
Forget to change TAQ delivery quantity
         Pack 5 items
    Post Goods Issue the delivery.
Is there are requirement/routine than can be run at time of PGI that checks TAQ delivery quantity is the same as TAE delivery quantity.  If quanities are not the same, show hard error and message do not allow PGI to complete.
    Thank you
    Tony Romain

I tried setting that field in the sale order this morning.  By defaulting it to "C"; I was able to get warning message for TAE line.  I was able to post goods with TAE and TAQ, being different quantities.  I need the check to determine if TAE and TAQ delivery quantity are different.  Using this fields seems to be line specific.  Thanks for the suggestion.  I now know what that field does to the delivery.
    I rewarded points.
    Thanks,
    Tony

  • Sales BOM: Quantity correlation for deliv.group 001

When creating a delivery for a sales BOM material assigned to delivery group, I'm getting a partial quantity.
Example is sales BOM material A requires 4 EA of subitem B.  Order created for 1 EA of material A, which requires 4 EA subitem B but there are only 2 EA of B in stock.  The corresponding delivery is created with a quantity of .5 for material A.  I get the following message in the delivery log:
    "Quantity correlation for deliv.group 001 from sls.order 0004831194 for deliv.item 000010"
I'm expecting the quantity to be 1 on the sales order.  Any help is appreciated.

    Hi,
I guess not. Obviously, if you don't have enough to deliver in full, then you can do one of the two; either deliver less (in this case half), or deliver none (maybe you can't deliver half because it is impossible).
Here's something from the online documentation:
    Correlating Delivery Groups
Items in delivery groups can be combined in the sales order to synchronize their delivery. You will receive a warning message when creating a delivery for a sales order if all items belonging to such a group cannot be delivered. If you then create deliveries using a delivery due list, all orders whose delivery groups cannot be completely delivered will be ignored in this process. In this case, the log supplies all appropriate information. If the delivery quantity is changed or if such an item is deleted in a delivery item belonging to a delivery group, you will receive a warning message. For further information on delivery groups, refer to Combining Sales Document Items for Delivery.
In addition, the system will carry out a quantity correlation for groups of items when they are classified together by one of the following requirements:
the items belong to a common delivery group
the items have a bill of material structure
If the order structure arose from a bill of material explosion, the relations in quantity of the items is based on component quantity. If this is not the case, it is based on the relation of the order quantities. The system does not correlate items classified as having fixed quantities.
When creating deliveries, the system automatically carries out a quantity correlation. If you change a higher level itemu2019s quantity, the quantities in the dependent items will be adjusted on all levels if necessary. When you change a dependent itemu2019s quantity, the system generates a warning message. When you delete a higher level item, all subordinate items are deleted as well. When you delete a dependent item, the system generates a warning message. If the dependent item contains a quantity to correlate and is the main item of a batch split, you receive a note. You must decide manually for which batches the quantity change is to take place.
The question really is, from a business point of view, in your example what would you like to do? Deliver 1 A or none?
    Regards,
    Mario
