Using SessionBean (EJB3) as contoller component for JSF1.2

I am hoping to use a session bean as the controller component in JSF 1.2, but I can't find any suggestion / hint on how to configure JSF to do the lookup for me. If you have any examples on how the JSF (Presentation Tier) can be tied to the EJB3 Session Bean (Business Tier) please let me know. Until now I have only seen examples which require a separate controller bean to act as an interface between the two tiers.

The problem at this point is simply that while an EJB3 bean may seem like a simple POJO, it's simply not the case.
As far as I know, the Bean Controller can only be a simple bean and the beans are configured via an actual class name rather than through a Factory.
At this juncture, I think you're stuck with a facade integrating the two tiers.

  • Using States and the includeIn-property for UI-elements inside my mxml-composide-component

    Hi,
    unfortunatly I am looking for a way to use States in a mxml-component. I’m working with the flash builder 4.6 (means as3).
    Because this did not work when I did use the normal mxml tags for the states inside my VGroup-composite-component, I added a creationComplete-Handler in the Script part of my component in which I instanciated the states and the states-Array via as3. I copied
    this of an internet- article from 2006 that was already dealing with
    as3, but at that time the States were part of the mx-namespace. How ever when I wrote: newState1: State= new State(); my development environment did not know the class State. Did I forgot to import anything or to use a namespace in my Script block ? I imported the AS3 Finite State Machine from meekgeek.com.
    But these states have no name-property insted they got a key-property, but this did not work either though I imported correct and did use the correct namespace. I did not find any State-class-description at Adobe's doku either. All I’m trying to do is to use the standard State-includeIn-properties of UI-Components inside
    my mxml-composide-componend. I’d be much obliged if You may help me in this point.
    Best regards,
    Timan Bracht

    Thanks for the answers so far.
    I can show now the correct KmLimit on the field, thanks to a javabean method, so this problem is solved - even I don't know why on hell it does not show it automatically, since I did give to it literal/expression default value in the attribute properties of the transient field; but never mind.
    The current problem: we use a task flow, that shows an input form to enter new records. This form has a LOV, from where I get a value from, which will be then saved once the submit button has been pressed.
    So far, so good.
    I enter some values in the input fields. If now I save the record, it will be saved, and all the form fields reset to null. Perfect.
    But. If I don't press the save button, instead I pick another value from the LOV list, the values of the input fields does not reset to null, instead, they remain with the last entered value.
    It does not seem there's more to change in the task flow properties that would reset the fields automatically.
    So we're stuck with this issue, the fields remain filled, even if I do set it to null. The value is really null - I set it to null with fieldName.setValue(null) and show it in the console with fieldName.getValue() - but the form still shows the old value in the field.
    Any help is greatly appreciated,
    Sergio.

  • Using grid component for layout

    I'm using the grid component to display six panel, 3 per
    line. Everything seems fine except that I thought if user resized
    the browser the six panel would resize but they don't. Even if I
    start the app in a size that can't fit the original size of the
    panels, I get scroll bars instead of re-sizing the panel. Is grid
    the wrong component for this? I've attached a sample code.

    Grid might be the the wrong component. Try VBox and HBox with

  • [svn:fx-trunk] 12025: Switching out the old video component for the new video component that uses OSMF .

    Revision: 12025
    Revision: 12025
    Author:   [email protected]
    Date:     2009-11-19 17:48:04 -0800 (Thu, 19 Nov 2009)
    Log Message:
    Switching out the old video component for the new video component that uses OSMF.  Also fixing RSL issue with OSMF because a change in flex-config.xml accidentally got overwritten.  Also fixing a bug caught during the last code review where you would set the volume on the VideoPlayer, but the volumeBar wouldn't be made aware of that change.
    Switching out the video component results in many API changes.  The changes are highlighted below:
    Class name changes:
    - spark.primitives.VideoElement is being renamed to spark.components.VideoDisplay
    - spark.components.mediaClasses.StreamingVideoSource is renamed to park.components.mediaClasses.DynamicStreamingVideoSource
    - spark.components.mediaClasses.StreamItem is renamed to park.components.mediaClasses.DynamicStreamingVideoItem
    VideoDisplay/VideoPlayer event changes:
    The new video component's events are:
    - bytesLoadedChange : org.osmf.events.LoadEvent
    - currentTimeChange : org.osmf.events.TimeEvent
    - durationChange : org.osmf.events.TimeEvent
    - mediaPlayerStateChange : org.osmf.events.MediaPlayerStateChangeEvent
    The old video component's events were:
    - close : spark.events.VideoEvent (removed)
    - complete : spark.events.VideoEvent (replaced with mediaPlayerStateChange)
    - metaDataReceived : spark.events.VideoEvent (replaced with mediaPlayerStateChange)
    - playheadUpdate : spark.events.VideoEvent (replaced with currentTimeChange)
    - progress : flash.events.ProgressEvent (replaced with bytesLoadedChange)
    - ready : spark.events.VideoEvent (replaced with mediaPlayerStateChange)
    VideoDisplay/VideoPlayer property changes:
    Renames:
    - maintainAspectRatio:Boolean has been renamed to scaleMode:String and rather than true/false, it now access 4 values: none, zoom, letterbox, and stretch.  See the enum class org.osmf.display.ScaleMode.
    - playheadTime:Number has been renamed to currentTime:Number
    - playWhenHidden has been renamed to pauseWhenHidden, and it's "tense" has been reversed.  So playWhenHidden = true correlates to pauseWhenHidden = false.  Also, before we would only pause when the video component was explcitly set to visible=false, but now we detect if the video components or any of it's ancestors have been hidden.
    - totalTime:Number has been renamed to duration:Number
    New properties:
    - bytesLoaded:Number This is a new property not available on the old video component
    - bytesTotal:Number This is a new property not available on the old video component
    - loop: Boolean this was a property added a while ago on the old video component but not in the original video player spec
    - mediaPlayerState: this is a new property that details the state of the video component.  See org.osmf.media.MediaPlayerState for all the possible values.
    - seekToFirstFrame:Boolean (pending PARB approval) - This is a new property available on VideoDisplay/VideoPlayer.  When autoPlay = false, if seekToFirstFrame is set to true, then we will connect to the server to start downloading the video, figure out the size of the video and resize appropriately, and show the first frame of the video.  If seekToFirstFrame is false, then no connection to the server is made, there's no implicit size for this video, and the first frame will not be show automatically.  By default the value of this property is true.  In the old video component, when autoPlay = false, we always has the same behavior as seekToFirstFrame = true.  Now it is controllable through this property.  Eventually, (not for Flex 4.0), we will most-likely have support for a thumbnail source or a splash screen so the video's preview will show up without making an unneeded connection to the server.  The property name may change depending on PARB.
    Other changes:
    - autoRewind: The default of autoRewind is now true instead of false
    - enabled: before we paused the video when the video component was explicitly set to enabled = false.  Now we pause the video when the video component or any of it's ancestors have been disabled.
    VideoPlayer-only changes:
    - videoObject:flash.media.Video property is now a new property on VideoPlayer.  It was previously only on VideoDisplay.
    - The skin states for the old VideoPlayer were: connectionError, disabled, disconnected, loading, playing, stopped, connectionErrorAndFullScreen, disabledAndFullScreen, disconnectedAndFullScreen, loadingAndFullScreen, playingAndFullScreen, stoppedAndFullScreen.  The new skin states are: uninitialized, loading, ready, playing, paused, buffering, playbackError, disabled, uninitializedAndFullScreen, loadingAndFullScreen, readyAndFullScreen, playingAndFullScreen, pausedAndFullScreen, bufferingAndFullScreen, playbackErrorAndFullScreen, disabledAndFullScreen
    DynamicStreamingVideoItem property changes:
    - bitRate:Number renamed to bitrate:Number
    DynamicStreamingVideoSource property changes:
    - initialIndex has been added to DynamicSteramingVideoSource
    - live:Boolean has changed to streamType:String which accepts values: live, recorded, any.  See the enum class org.osmf.net.StreamType for more info.
    - serverURI:String renamed to host:Object
    - streamItems:Array has changed types to streamItems:Vector.
    ScrubBar property changes (THESE CHANGES ARE NOT DONE YET, BUT SHOULD BE DONE SOON)
    - bufferedStart will be removed
    - bufferedEnd will be renamed to loadedRangeEnd.  This property name still may change depending on PARB.
    - bufferedArea skin part needs to be renamed.  Probably will be renamed to loadedArea.  PARB still deciding.

    What kind of namespace I should specify?

    Hello, Paul.
    I'm sure you may not use JavaScript as a language for creating XSLT extention functions with Oracle XDK Parser. This is since parser might have JavaScript interpreter to work with JavaScript, but it has not.
    If you need to build any XSLT extention functions you must build them as Java class' static methods.
    After that, you define the usage of the class by mean of namespace declaration as:
    xmlns:your-ns="http://www.oracle.com/XSL/Transform/java/yourpackage.Yourclass"
    (Prefix "http://www.oracle.com/XSL/Transform/java/" may differs if you use non-Oracle XML parser)
    and use class' static method in XSLT:
    <xsl:value-of select="your-ns.staticMethodName(paramsIfAny)"/>
    In your case you may wish to use standard Date class:
    xmlns:date="http://www.oracle.com/XSL/Transform/java/java.util.Date"
    <xsl:value-of select="date:toString(date:new)"/>

  • Using Hibernate as a Custom Component

    I don’t know whether this question is appropriate in LC context.
    Our scenario, We have very complex logic in each of JDBC store/retrieve activity in the process. We would like to move this part into Hibernate based custom component.
    We tried with simple Hibernate persistence class but it seems to be LC not loading them.
    1)      Is this the restriction with LC? (using hibernate as a custom component)
    2)      What is the appropriate solution?
    You help is highly appreciated

    Jasmin,
    Is your class included in the custom component?
    Yes, It is a annotated entity class,
    When creating sessionFactory it is not loading the class.
    i'm using flowing code block for creating sessionFactory,
    factory =
    new AnnotationConfiguration().addAnnotatedClass(dao.entity.UserEntity.
    class).setProperty(
    "hibernate.dialect",m_dialect ).setProperty(
    "hibernate.connection.driver_class", m_driverClass).setProperty(
    "hibernate.connection.url", m_connectionUrl ).setProperty(
    "hibernate.connection.username",m_userName).setProperty(
    "hibernate.connection.password", m_password).setProperty(
    "hibernate.hbm2ddl.auto", m_hbmTodll ).setProperty(
    "current_session_context_class",m_contextClass ).configure(resource).buildSessionFactory();
    Is the jar referenced in the class patch section of the component.xml?
    Yes , I have tried for this approch too , but class is entity class is not loaded.

  • Error with TaskSearchFilter using Java APIs in custom component

    I have created a custom Java component for use in LC Process Mgr.
    Upon invoke of process containing component, component fails with the following message:
    2011-02-28 16:28:31,260 ERROR [com.adobe.workflow.AWS] Cannot coerce object: [email protected]41 of type: com.adobe.idp.taskmanager.dsc.client.query.TaskSearchFilter to type: class com.adobe.idp.taskmanager.dsc.client.query.TaskSearchFilter
    Code is pretty basic:
            ServiceClientFactory myFactory = ServiceClientFactory.createInstance();
            TaskManagerQueryService queryManager = TaskManagerClientFactory.getQueryManager(myFactory);
            TaskSearchFilter filter = new TaskSearchFilter();
            filter.addCondition(TaskSearchingConstants.pSTATUS, Operator.EQUALS, "3");
            List<TaskRow> result = queryManager.taskSearch(filter);
    Error seems to occur with the creation of the List. This code works ok when run as standalone file in either Eclipse or Netbeans but not within the component.
    All necessary JARs are included and are listed in the class-path in component.xml.
    Does anyone have any ideas?
    Thanks,
    David

    Looks like a class loader issue.  Usually this is caused by having the a class (TaskSearchFilte) in your component that on the server.   In other words there are two copies of the TaskSearchFilte class - yours and the one already in LiveCycle - and they are in conflict.
    If that's the case, the solution is simple:
    remove the jar files containing the TaskSearchFilte (and any other LiveCycle clients) from your component's jar file.  You may need them in the build path, so your code can compile - but you don't need them in the final component jar.
    remove the references to these jar files from the component.xml file's class-path entry
    add an import-packages section to your component.xml file.  This will not reference the jar files, but the package names themselves.  For example:
    <import-packages>
         <package version="1.0">com.adobe.idp.taskmanager.dsc.client.query.TaskSearchFilter</package>
         <!--  add more as needed -->
    </import-packages>

  • Using JDO in a portal component.

    Hi!
    I've tried using JDO in a portal component (DynPage), but it just won't work for me (WAS 6.40).
    What I've tried is this:
    - Looking up a PersistenceManagerFactory using the name "java:comp/env/jdo/defaultPMF"
    This does not work ... I get a NameNotFoundException: Path to object does not exist at java:comp, the whole lookup name is java:comp/env/jdo/defaultPMF
    - After reading this forum I tried with the name "deployedAdapters/jdo/defaultPMF/shareable/jdo/defaultPMF" although this is probably not the correct way
    This did return a PersistenceManagerFactory object, however I wasn't able to cast to the PersistenceManagerFactory interface that I had. It must have been different versions of the interface - I tried downloading the jdo.jar from Sun and compiling the portal component against that, but still the ClassCastException occured. I used the reflection API to determine that the object returned did in fact implement the interface named javax.jdo.PersistenceManagerFactory. I even tried using the jdo.jar libraries from the server, but to no luck.
    So ... my question is: Is JDO not available from a portal component? Must I develop a J2EE application to make it work? If so, I'd rather use Hibernate in my portal components, but it seems stupid when JDO is available?
    Thanks,
    Thomas

    Hi Thomas,
    In order to be able to use JDO in a Portal component, you have to add a Private Sharing Reference to the application sap.com/com.sap.jdo. This is a standard application provided with the SAP WebAS Java installation.
    For more info on how to do that, please refer to <a href="https://www.sdn.sap.comhttp://www.sdn.sap.comhttp://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/servlet/prt/portal/prtroot/com.sap.km.cm.docs/library/ep/g-i/how%20to%20access%20an%20ejb%20from%20a%20portal%20component.mht">this</a> tutorial -> Accessing the EJB -> New Portal Component -> scroll to the section "Add PrivateSharingReference".
    Hope that helps!

  • FileUpload component for jsf 1.1 RI

    I have a serious problem with finding working component for file upload
    i can't upgrade to jsf 1.2 i must use 1.1 RI
    I tired tomahawk comonent same as here: http://www.onjava.com/pub/a/onjava/2005/07/13/jsfupload.html?page=last
    but i doesn't work because uploaded file is always null because of enctype="multipart/form-data" in form element, same problem as somebody in comments.
    Then I tried ADF faces such as here: http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/jdev/htdocs/partners/addins/exchange/jsf/doc/installation.html#Dependencies
    and here
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/jdev/htdocs/partners/addins/exchange/jsf/doc/devguide/fileUpload.html
    but i didn't managed to get throught configuration because i can't find adfshare.jar anywhere, it is not included in adf-faces-10_1_3_0_4.zip and I need oracle.adf.view.faces.webapp.AdfFacesFilter whitch is propably in the missing jar. This result as 404 error for all jsf pages :(
    Does anyone managed to get somehow working file upload component with netbeans 5.5, tomcat 5.5 jsf 1.1 RI.
    Pleas help.

    It might be bad form to push your own library, but. :P
    You might check out the RI Sandbox, which has a calendar component. It should work in 1.1, but, if it doesn't, let me know and I'll make sure it does. :)

  • Dump in Value-Help Component for date

    I created a Value-Help-Component for date fields. (I cannot use the standard value help, because I need the help to start in the month, the user is working on).
    I am using the Date Navigator to select a date.
    If I first change the month with an arrow of the date navigator and then select a date I get a dump in the method IF_WD_CONTEXT_ELEMENT~GET_ATTRIBUTE_REF in line
        attr_info = me->node_info->if_wd_context_node_info~get_attribute( name_only ).
    , because the element does not have a node_info.
    If I just choose a date in the preselected month (without using the arrows of the date navigator) everything is fine.
    Does anybody have an idea??
    Many thanks in advance.

    I found the "solution" to the problem myself.
    I used the method bind_structure in the component containing the date navigator.
    After I replaced it by set_static_attributes it worked without producing dumps.
    Very strange!

    GiriBabu N

    Hi,
    Just use Trinidad's, I don't think 11g has an equivalent and Chris suggestion won't really work in this case as visible="false" is the same as rendered="false" for decoding purpose and you want it to be decoded in your case. Another poor man's solution would be
    <af:inputText value="..." inlineStyle="display:none;"/>Regards,

  • Swing component for awt.canvas

    Hi,
    Can anyone tell me the equivalent SWING component for awt CANVAS. I need it because i need to display only Images (nothing else) on it. If anyone can tell how I can do it.

    JPanel is the Swing-equivalent of java.awt.Canvas, but if you are just displaying images, you can use the JLabel class, which supports use of images as icons (see also ImageIcon class).
