Using 'setMediaPlaybackRequiresUserAction' for html5 video

Hello,
I am working on a site that will need to work specifically for the iPad.  The client has provided me with several mp4 files which will act as short animations that should queue when the page is loaded.  I have found some documenation on developer forums and other sites that mention the use of a UIWebView object to use iPad specific attributes like "setMediaPlaybackRequiresUserAction" and "setAllowsInlineMediaPlayBack".  From what I have found I need to:
1. Create UIWebView Object
2. Attach Object to Window
3. Send a Request to Load Web Content
I found these directions but every example I have come across seems to be for an iPad application and this is just a site that will use the Safari browser.  The markup is in html.
Does anyone have an example using these features on a web page so I can figure out how to implement the code I have found online?
Thanks!
Michael

UIWebView is for native iOS apps and has nothing to do with displaying video in HTML in a website.
Here's Apple official Safari Developer information on using video in websites for iOS devices:

  • Does somebody know how to make Firefox use Gstreamer for HTML5 video?

    ... especially for Youtube ?
    Thanks.

Sorry, I don't get it… does it apply to standard firefox now or why does it say core? If it's still fennec only, I'd love to see one for desktop firefox, too - but I'm not to sure I can open a bug/feature request in an orderly fashion, so maybe someone with smoother "bugtracker skills" might want to.

  • Need help with coding for HTML5 Video with Flash fallback

Hello, need help with my coding in Dreamweaver CS5.5 for HTML5 video with Flash fallback. Not sure if the coding is correct. Do I need anything else Javascipt etc?

The reason you see a blank page is because it's trying to load the file that is pretty humungous and there is no preloader. So, you see a white screen till it complets loading.
Also, the reason why its loading a SWF file and not any of HTML5 type video is because your doctype declaration is XHTML1.0 and not HTML5.
Change the 1st line in your .html file from:
    <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd">
    to:
    <!DOCTYPE html>
Then see if your HTML5 video types load with <video> tag.

  • Advice on used mbp for photo/ video tasks.

Good afternoon everyone. I'd just like to pick the brains of some of the experts here regarding purchasing a used mbp for photo/ video. for about $1300 (preferably less) which models would you look at? I'm open to 15 and 17 inch variants. The 13 is just too small. I've been trying to find a 15" with 2.4ghz and 16gb ram but they are very hard to come by in my price range. Is there going to be a huge difference in speed between a 2.2, 2.3, or 2.4 i7 quad core processor? I'm also aware that some models came with superior graphics cards although I can't remember exactly which ones.
one more question, regarding the high res matte screens, are these going to make my guis look weird? I actually had a 2014 13" mbp retina and was hugely disappointed in its performance and took it back. The retina display was not compatible with photoshop And made it look awful. This happened with some web pages as well. Is this going to happen with the high res screens available previous to the retina technology?
Thanks in advance for any help and suggestions.
One last thing. Am I better off waiting/ spending a few hundred more and looking at more recent units such as a 15" retina? I don't like that the ram can't be upgraded and that they can't be repaired by the user as easily but the lighter weight is certainly a nice feature.

I suppose what I'm asking is whether there are particular configurations that were better than others that I should look out for. you illustrated my point when you mentioned your friend's older but faster mbp. I believe sometimes there are configurations that seem to work better than others despite one being newer or having 'faster' or 'superior' hardware. I'm aware of the advantages of ssd's and had one in my last mbp along with maxed out ram.
Regarding the newer mbp 13 retina model my solution was to take it back. I simply was not happy paying more for a computer that was more expensive but didn't perform as well as my older model I had just sold. Also the size was not going to work.
Out of interest can anyone explain these anomolies in speed between newer and older models. Logic suggests that a newer model with faster processor and more ram should be faster but why is this not always the case?
Here's my predicament: 15" mpb with 2.4ghz i7 quad core and 16gb ram and ssd are running around $1400 used. This is more than I would expect to pay for a mid to late 2011 laptop but they seem to hold their value very well. There is a significant price jump between say a 2.2ghz model and a 2.4. Am I going to notice more performance on the 2.4 or is it not a big deal to save a few hundred bucks? Or do I just spend a few hundred more for a newer retina model? I just don't want to end up with a computer I cannot upgrade or work on myself and that is not a significant performance upgrade from my last model And doesn't even have a SuperDrive or additional HDD. I hope that makes sense.
So with all that said and considering that I use my laptop for photography and small amounts of video are there any particular models anyone would recommend Around the $1300 mark? Or other suggestions?

  • Generating webm, ogg etc for HTML5 video delivery

I'd love to create a Compressor workflow that generates MP4, webm, ogg and potentially other video formats for one-click generation for web sites using the HTML5 <video> tag/player.
I don't see where/how to generate webm or ogg in Compressor 4?  Am i missing it, or are their plug-ins that can do it so that I don't have to run a separate encoding app to generate each format?
    Thanks,
    Karl

Thanks, David ... but that ogg site seems to be just for audio.
I searched this forum before posting using the forum's search ... but a Google search now found a related forum thread on creating OGG (ogv) in which you posted:
    https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3642539
I'll try the Ziph Quicktime plugin mentioned by Tony in that thread... since it sounds like you were able to get that to work directly from Compressor, that'll work for generating mp4 and ogv in one batch.
Google (but not the Apple search) found this thread that also asked about ogv and webm:

Sounds like Miro may do the trick - although in a separate, external step:

Lots of other good tips / workarounds for compressor deficiencies in that thread, including the Firefogg plug-in for Firefox.   Sorry for starting this duplicate...

  • Widget for html5 videos requested

    Dear Muse developer team,
It would be incredibly useful to have the possibility to insert html5 video files by help of a widget. (Not talking about links to vimeo- or youtube videos which is already possible.)
Yet we have to do tricks with inserting our own html.
A proper widget with varieties to select, such as autoplay, loop, or any options for skins, would be very helpful.
    Best,

  • Final Cut export for HTML5 Video tag

I need to export a video into OGG, WebM, and MP4 for use in HTML5 video tag. Is this possible in FCP or are there any good plugins/software that can export to those various formats?

FCP can export MPEG4 and its variants such as H.264.
Googling .mov to .ogg and webM brings up several options for other software, none of which are familiar to me.

  • Which is the best MacBook for me to buy if I want to use it for digital video editing as well as Photoshop?

All the Apple MacBooks have been upgraded.  I am looking for either a MacBook Pro or a MacBook that I can use to edit digital videos and do some Photoshop work.  Which one would you advise me to go for?  I am considering the 13”.

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities
I recommend the 15-inch MacBook Pro if you can afford it. That's because Photoshop runs better on a dedicated graphic card, which only the 15-inch MacBook Pro includes, but it should run without any problem on a 13-inch MacBook Pro too

  • Looking for good book on using DSLR for shooting video

I recently purchased a new Canon t3i DSLR. I've been watching videos on YouTube and it seems like this camera is capable of taking great HD video. My test videos look nothing like these examples. I am looking for a good resource that will teach me what settings to use, especially manual settings for shooting videos. Of course it would be great to find something specific to my camera, but I'm sure that the techniques will apply to most DSLRs.

  • Using SSD for FCP Video Editing on Macbook Pro

    Hi,
I am looking to get a Macbook Pro 15" which i will be using for some video editing related work (definitely HD, might include some 3K footage at times). I was earlier considering getting a 512GB solid state drive for some fast performance, but I have been hearing that they are not great for video editing and that video editing will suck through the lifetime of the SSD, I could use some clarity or confirmation on the subject. Ideally, I would love to have a solid state drive in my laptop for just the overall performance boost and I love the idea of a less heating and power consuming drive, however I do know, that I will be doing video editing related work with large files frequently and would like my drive to last for at least 3 years. Should I expect that from a SSD?
Will it be wise to get a SSD in my case? I'll appreciate your suggestions. The more you can explain your reasoning, the better.

I also read somewhere that the old SSDs might have been a bit problematic but the new ones have 'load balancing' which makes sure you don't use the same bits of electronics all the time and spreads the memory around. Does this mean that video editing playback will be good? Or any improvements of SSD lifespan?

  • Using Quicktime for all Video Types

I'm trying to use Quicktime for some WMV files, and I downloaded the "flip4mac" program, but it still isn't working. I can open the video and play it on Quicktime, but I can't skip around or anything. Is there something else I need?

If you happen to own a copy of Microsoft Office it contains Windows Media Player for Mac. It is only selected when doing the custom installation. It does not install during the standard install. Even when you select it, you will have to run the installer to get it to run. Once it is set up it works fine.
I have also used Flip 4 Mac with no issues and recently started using VLC, which is also needed if you use Handbrake to rip DVD's.

  • Using FCP for live video feed

    Hi,
I'm currently shooting with the new HVX200 Panasonic camera. We're using a small, 7" hand-held HD monitor to use for focus-pulling, but I'd like to be able to use a computer monitor or laptop for a live video feed. (director's monitor)
We've considered using the component-out to go into a Component-VGA adapter for a computer monitor, but I'm wondering if we can do a direct feed using FireWire into FCP or something.
Anyone have any experience doing a computer-monitor setup for use with these kinds of cameras?
    Thanks for the help!

    hey there RI,
if you've tried something similar on your iMac & had no problems it's reasonable to think/believe it will work on your MBP, w/ this caveat: the 400 & 800 ports are actually on the same buss, so the 800 port will handle it's data at the lower(400) rate if there is a device on each port. shouldn't affect any editing w/ the drive once the cam is removed from the MBP. it should the run @ the higher rate.
    good luck.
