Using Spry Master Details And Flash Videos

I orginally posted this in the Dreamweaver forum but found
this one and figured it was a more appropriate place.
Hi, I am using the Spry Master Detail set to Dynamically load
a flash player into a detail area. Works great in Firefox but
doesn't load the player in IE.

I have tried various methods

but still isn't working as intended.
I could go back to iFrames but really don't want to do that
either.

Did you ever get this to work? I am trying to do something
similar with no success. I tried swfobject and other ways of
getting the parameters through Spry to Flash to no avail. Something
in Spry is mangling my embed on the way to IE whenever it's
included in a Spry region.
I am reluctantly being forced to find something other than
Spry due to IE.

How Do I: Bind a YUI Calendar Widget to a Spry Master Detail Region?

Hello All,
Does anyone know how to bind a YUI Calendar widget to a Spry
master detail region? I have the dataset, yui calendar inserted but
no clue how to bind the two so my dataset populates the calendar
(Highlights dates that have a event) and when a date in the
calendar is clicked it shows in the details section.
I have found a tidbit or two via google but they don't deal
with the new yui cs4
widget. I have seen some video on adove tv that touches on
inserting the yui calendar into a spry dataset but not how to bind
the two together...
Any thoughts on this would be greatly appreciated.

You have to write some code that sets up a select callback on
the YUI side of things, and then set the current row of the data
set that matches that date.
Something like this:

Table appears for a second before spry Master/Detail loads

Hi!
I'm using the Spry Master/Detail function on a page to display an interactive version of the table on the same page. On browser load, the table is briefly displayed before it is replaced by the Spry interactive table. Is there any way to avoid this? It looks kinda hokey.
ps I know I could avoid it by putting the table on another page, but then it wouldn't be searchable.

Sorry for butting in, Hi Beth,
Considering the number of images that have to be loaded before the data can be displayed, the page is quite fast.
There are a couple of things that can be done to make it load faster and to give it a feel that is is loading faster.
To make it run faster consider
compressing components with GZip, see here http://developer.yahoo.com/performance/rules.html#gzip
placing expiry headers on images, css and js see here http://developer.yahoo.com/performance/rules.html#expires
place the reference to js files further down, see here http://developer.yahoo.com/performance/rules.html#js_bottom

To make it feel as though it runs faster, hide the contents until the data has been processed and issue a message or loading bar to that extent.
1. add the following style rule to make use of the SpryHiddenRegion feature

Master-Detail and Detail-SubDetail navigation.

Hi!
I am facing an issue regarding navigation in a second (subDetail) level child table.
I have Master-Detail-subDetail like lilnks of three VOs.
I have created 2 VLs for Master-Detail and Detail-SubDetail.
Now on my custom page, navigation is fine for Master-Details but for 2nd level navigation between Details-SubDetails is dependent on SingleSelection that i have used to display related reocrds in SubDetail table.
Is there any way to display subDetails automatically (without using single selection) just like in Master-Detaills. Or at least on page load it display related records in all the tablelayouts.
I'm using Header Layout for Master , Table layout for both Deatil and Sub Details VOs.

Websites not loading correctly and flash videos not playing

When I visit sites like '''ign.com''' and '''joystiq.com''', they do not display correctly and Flash videos never load. I have already uninstalled and reinstalled twice to version 9.0.1 with no change. The second time I used Revo Uninstaller Pro to help make sure I got rid of all registry entries and residual files. Does anyone know if this is a recent bug? This started for me about noon yesterday...

Use a compressed image type like PNG or JPG to save the screenshot and make sure that you do not exceed the maximum file size (1 MB).
Clear the cache and the cookies from sites that cause problems.

I'm assuming all of your extensions were on the Add-on Bar. The Add-on Bar has been removed in Firefox 29<sub>[1]</sub> but you can get it back easily using an extension<sub>[2]</sub>

Dynamic slideshow with pictures and Flash Video

I want to make a dynamic slideshow that shall include both
pictures and Flash Video. The user shall only have to put the files
(images/video) into a folder (for example with FTP or an
admin-utility) and then the Flash slideshow should present theese
pictures and video-files randomly. Is this possbile?
I know it is possible with pictures, but can you also include
Flash Video into this scenario?

yes you can, you can load '.SWF' files in or you can use the
vidplayer to play '.FLVs'

Spry Master Detail from two HTML tables?

I'm trying to use two spry tables generated from html on the same page.I would like to set up an advaned master detail region where the "tbl_adrs" (contains Multiple addresses) references the "tbl_provider" (contains a provider name and the unique identifier 'ProNo'). Is this possible with spry data set from html tables? All examples reference spry tables from XML. If it is possible, here is the HTML to look at.

Spry Table, Accordian, and Flash question

Is it possible to build a spry table that automatically
updates a spry accordian with different flash files? i.e. have a
table that listed four flash videos and when the table link was
clicked that flash video would appear in the accordian? Choose
another link in the table and then that flash video would appear in
the accordian. etc I know you can link jpg's and accomplish this
but I would love to do the same thing with some flv filles. Anyone
know if that is possible and how to write the link in the xml file?

All Active content on a page will always rise to the top, so
to speak,
including Flash, certain form elements, Java applets, and
Active X controls.
This means that each of these will poke through layers. There
is not a good
cross-browser/platform reliable way to solve this issue, but
if you can be
confident in your visitors using IE 5+ or NN6+, then you can
use the Flash
wmode parameter (however, Safari does not support this
properly!).

Video glitch in Exported QT and Flash video pieces

Hello, I am having a strange problem with my playback of exported videos. Currently I am exporting out video for website use both Highband and Lowband. For my highband I export out video using quicktime conversion. In QT conversion I use Flix Flash FLV Export which I bought extra to be able to make flash videos. For my lowband videos I use QT conversion and H.264 format. The videos that I export have a weird glitch in both High and Low bandwidth attempts and at the same spots in the video. What happens is the video jumps backward a frame or two and the audio is all off from there on. Well any help with this would be much appreciated. Thank you.

Have you looked at those spots in the original project timeline to verify that there is nothing strange going on at the trouble spots? Is there anything "different" about either your audio or video files in those spots?
eg. are all the audio files in your project 48Khz?
If you export a simple QT movie with no compression or conversions do you get the same problem? If not, then try using that export as your "master" and convert/compress it to what you need.

IE6 not working with Spry Master Detail

I cannot get spry to work with IE6. I am most interested in
this master detail issue (code listed below). I am building this
for a internal gov't application, and the only browser they allow
is IE6.
The spry data set loads, all of the questions show on the
left hand side, but clicking on the question does nothing. I had
the same issue with collapsible panels, accordian etc. It works
fine on Firefox
Switching to another browser is not an option.

Actually, I am using data of type HTML.
I am also finding that I have no problem running the script
off of a disk, BUT when I run it off of IIS, there is a problem.
All other scripts seem to work, so not sure it is a mime
type.

Master/detail and problem with selected row when errors on detail row

I'm using JDeveloper 10.1.3.3
I have a very simple master/detail screen (JSF JSP) where master is departments and detail is employees in the selected department. Some of the attributes in employees are required.
To department A
I take away the value of one of the required attributes of one of the detail employee rows.
Select one of the other departments ie department B
Get Error message Value required.
So far so good, but the selected department is B and the detail rows shown is for department A.
I expected that department A to still be selected or that department B with its row to be shown.

You shouldnot execute the child VO after setting current row in master VO.
When the current row is set in master VO, then the child rows will get refreshed automatically.

Using variable in function for FLASH video

I have a webpage that uses PHP to pull a variable from a
MySQL database.
I would like to use that variable to tell my flash component
what flash video to play. I cant seem to figure out how to place
the variable in the function call to make it work.
Also...The main page is in the root directory of my site with
all my flash videos in a subfolder. I can't seem to get the videos
to play on my main page unless they are in the same directory. I
even tried to simply 'include' the movie into my existing page and
it doesn't work.
Any idea on either of these issues?
(Is this even the correct forum area for this? I am new to
using FLASH for this stuff)

Turns out I believe my answer lies in PHP, but I will check

10.7.4 update causes YouTube and Flash video Errors?

Since updating to 10.7.4 yesterday, I've noticed that YouTube and other online Flash videos stutter, stop and continue playing, or pause frequently. Has anyone else noticed this bug? I'm using the newest version of Chrome but tried Safari as well and noticed the same kind of bug. If anyone has a fix it would be greatly appreciated.
