Using TCP Send Commands similar to Hyperterminal

Hey everyone,
I am making my first program that deals with wireless communication. I am having some issues in understanding how data is transmitted.
Here's what I am currently able to do. I can open hyperterminal, directly connect to my device using the IP Address and Port number. Once connected, I see my 'Hello' confirming that I am connected. After being connected, I can send out characters one by one using Hyperterminal. This is perfectly ok for testing, but I want to use LV to make a GUI so that I won't mix up what button commands what.
I have attached my VI and I feel like I'm doing something fundamentally wrong. When using Telnet, if I send a '1' I can see its value on the Rx port of my device using an oscilloscope. With my VI, I don't see anything from the oscilloscope until I stop it.
I think I am just missing something small. I really appreciate the help.
Thanks,
Seth

Thank you for the quick feedback.
Here are the edits that I made. I am now seeing data from the oscilloscope, but it's not what I'm expecting. With how my code is set up, would it send whatever command is in the box every 50ms? Is the delay even necessary? I am really just trying to learn how to send a single character. Once I'm able to do that, I can take it from there.
Again, I really appreciate the help!

Can anyone tell me why my program is not so steadily?
It means this program can run. But somtimes I cannot receive sms. sometimes can
Basically, it is not well-written from both a LabVIEW and a communications point of view.  Unfortunately, I can't elaborate because today is an exrtremely busy day at work.  I'm hoping this bump will prompt someone to help you with your problem.  If you could also provide us with the programmer's guide or the manual for your equipment, that would be extremely helpful.

  • Cannot use the Send to Soundtrack Pro Audio File Command

I cannot use the Send to Soundtrack Pro Audio File Command, only the Multitrack and it's starting to really get on my nerves. It is unhiglighted. If I unlink the clip and select only half of the audio, the option re-appears. I have no idea what is wrong.

As an audio file, you can only send one clip at a time. This is a feature, not a bug. See the book for more information.

  • Get error 66, when try to use TCP vi send string to arduino

I use TCP vi to send string to arduinos (arduino uno+ arduino wifi shield, and they have arduino code preloaded inside ) wirelessly through the router. Sometimes they can communicate well, the arduino receive the string send by the TCP vi. But sometimes, there will be an error 66 come out of TCP Write vi, so, labview loop will stop. Arduino will say "connection failed". And I have config the VI sever allow the arduino to access.
Another thing I want to mention is, when I highlight the execution, the error will come out more frequently.

Actually, they can communicate not only once, sometimes the VI can pass data several rounds, but suddenly the error 66 appears in TCP write, the loop will stop. And if I rerun the program, things happens again. can anybody tell me why the error come out? Thanks

  • Want to use dotNet with teststand, but unsure how to send commands through serial port

I have a loCom communication dll used to send and recieve commands through serial comunication for a particular product.  I the past they have used a LabVIEW wrapper to send and recieve commands, using this particular dll.  I would like to just use testStand for the DOTNET Dll.  I can get the commands, know the inputs and outputs required, however I can not figure out how to send the commands to the serial port.  Anyone have any exprience doing this in TesSTand?

    hallawt,
With your .NET code module, you should be able to call it directly, most likely as a parameter in the .NET method.
What are the inputs for the method you're trying to use?
Also, could you clarify where you're starting to have problems in your project?

The line "@ SEND /A=N" shouldn't serve any function.
    SEND "Message" [TO] <user|group|server> [/B] [/A=N]
/B bindery mode (allows some additional options)
/A=N exclude yourself from the broadcast
SEND.exe stems from NetWare 1.x/2.x/3.x/4.x and has been replaced by the
    Client32 broadcast functionality.
There are a couple of 3rd party replacements from the command line.

  • App similar to Hyperterminal for Symbian OS (N95 8...

We have our own mobile GPS-units which we can call up via GSM data and receive NMEA-sentences (ASCII text with GPS data) on the fly. Using Hyperterminal from a computer with a com-port we can do this using AT-commands.
However; during field tests it would be really helpful do send these AT-commands from our mobile phones. Does anybody know of an app similar to Hyperterminal which runs on Symbian OS - more specifically the new N95?
Help would be greatly appreciated as this would simplify our everyday testing significantly...

Try www.mochasoft.dk maybe they have something similar.

  • Receiver IDOC error - using TCP/IP

    Hi All,
I have a scnario where I am sending an IDOC to BCOMM ERP system via IDOC adapter from SAP PI using TCP/IP RFC program but while sending it is giving me an error in SM58 as IDocException occurred and there isn't much info in SM21 or ST22 or any other transaction.
    Error log in SM21 says
Name of the partner program where an error has occurred.  Check the
    preceding system log entries.
Use the gateway monitor (transaction SMGW) to monitor the functions
    of the gateway.
If someone has ever worked on such a scneario please let me knw and any pointers would be great.
    Cheers
    Abhi

    Hi Michael,
I know that this is not the conventional way but we cannot use RFC of type 3 as it is not a ECC system , it can handle IDOC communication via Idoc adapter through a SAP connector at there end which can be handled only via TCP/IP.
I am able to do it for another system with similar scenario but Not able to do for this particular system.
Can you tell me about your scenario and how you did it?
    Thanks for your reply.

  • Send commands

My apologies, it is still not clear to me exactly what you
    are trying to
achieve. Can you be a bit more specific?
My experience with video projectors is limited to connecting
    them to the
VGA port on a laptop to project an presentation onto a
    screen. Things
like powering them on, focusing, adjusting the image, etc,
    I've only
done using the buttons on the projector itself.
Is this the sort of "manage" tasks you are referring to? Does
    the

OK, you are possibly confusing things. UDP is part of TCP/IP. Could it be you are trying to multicast using TCP?
This is not possible. TCP is a connection based protocol, meaning any connection is established between exactly two partners, starting out with the three-way handshake, the data transmission and acknowledgments, and the connection tear down. This ensures complete delivery verification of all communications at the expense of the protocol overhead. (similar to a classic phone connection between two people: First you verify the right person picks up, then you talk, then say goodbye)
UDP is a connectionless protocol, meaning any packets are simply placed on the wire and the protocol itself does not ensure any verification of delivery (similar to e.g. a radio broadcast). Any two-way communication needs to be done by the program, e.g. the receiver could send another UDP packet back to notify the sender that a packet was received.
Broadcast and multicast packets must be connectionless. There is no way around it. You can use UDP for broadcasts and TCP for for data at the same time in the same program, but you cannot combine the two into a single connection. They don't mix.
Maybe I misunderstood. If I did, please clarify what you had in mind. More details!

  • Command similar to protect..endprotect in abap

    Hi All
Is there any command similar to protect endprotect in abap list output so that salutation doesn't fragment over next page.
or any other logic that one can use for same?
    For e.g.,
    THANKING YOU
    FOR XYZ COMPANY LTD,
    AUTHORIZED SIGNATORY.
    Regards
    Babita

hi babita , try to use Reserve Key word for tht .
Here is the standard help on tht  -
    Basic form
    RESERVE n LINES.
    Effect
If there is not enough space left on the current page for at least n lines, this statement starts a new page. n can be a constant (1,2,3,...) or a variable.
    Notes
Before starting a new page, the END-OF-PAGE processing is executed. This differs from NEW-PAGE.
If the RESERVE statement does not trigger a new page, output is continued on the current page.
Use BACK to return to the first line output after RESERVE.
    Note
    Performance:
The runtime required to execute a RESERVE statement is approx. 1 msn (standardized microseconds).
    hope this will help.

As far you are using VirtualBox, your processor capabilities shouldn't counted (min from my own experience while setting up the virtual machine. Change the Domain Type under configuation node to XEN PVM and try again. Most probably the virtual machine will start running.
One more thing, enable promiscuous mode -> Allow allow with your network configuration (if bridged network is in use) for the VM Server prior you try to SSH into the virtual machine (your guest on VM Server)
All the best and post your test results

  • How to use TCP Checksum Off-load in my network driver

I am seeking infomation on how to use TCP Checksum Off-load to tell the Solaris 8 stack not to handle it for both receives and transmits (and let our NIC handle this compute-intensive task instead).
There is mention that Sun GigabitEthernet Adapter cards, Release 1.1 supports Sol-2.6 use of NIC features: TCP checksum offload & byte swapping
There are limited bits of info in include files. For example
    sys/strick.h indicates use of:
    inetcksum_t's ick_xmit
    stream.h has:
struct datab's unsigned u16:16; /* used to store hw-calculated cksum
    #define STRUIO_IP 0x04 /* IP checksum stored in db_struioun */
    #define STRUIO_ZC 0x08 /* mblk eligible for zero-copy */
    strsub.h has:
    struct zero_copy_kstat
Also /include/inet/tcp.h has tcp_sum for outbound.
    Thank you. -Weimin Tchen

    VenK7337,
Could you show your python code. so we know what your are "writing" to the ethernet port?
That way we can see what you are receiving.
Parsing the incoming data (from the TCP-read) depends heavily on the device that sends it, and can not generically be described. LabVIEW has many byte (and even bit) manipulation functions to convert many different data formats to its own build in formats.
So after the TCP listener is connected, you are constantly reading from the established connection (until it gets broken of course). More advanced example would be the internet toolkit if oyu have it.
From the read characters (and I hope you designed a protocol with a clear starting character, ending character and maybe even a build in checksum) you parse the data and perform you action, and of course generate a reply. Again the internet toolkit is a good example. It parsed the input as it comes it, based on the HTTP format. Then generates the reply based on the request received.
These days I would suggest not to use binairy encoded numerics. Try and use XML formatted data. Yes, it causes a lot of overhead. But typically this is not an issue and makes the code a lot more portable and maintainable. Also makes it easier to interface with other languages/platforms.
Umless of course you are looking at Khz data rates, then XML is not th preferred choice.
    Hope this helps...

  • Sending command apdu with a byte array as CDATA

    Hi,
I am learning java card as part of my final year project. So far I think I can do most of the basic things but I have got stuck at one particular point.
I know that there are different constructors for creating a command apdu object and a number of these constructors take an array of bytes as CDATA values.
My problem is, how to access this array of data in the card side because apdu.getBuffer() returns an array of integers (bytes)? And what is actually on apdu.getBuffer()[ISO7816.OFFSET_CDATA)] location when you send command apdu object using such a constuctor?
    regards

(..) I should have mentioned earlier that my card use jc 2.2.1 version, and i have read from different places that this version does not support ExtendedLength facility.Indeed.
Also I understand the semantics of apdu.getBuffer()[ISO7816.OFFSET_CDATA] that is the first byte of the command data. My question is, this command data was initially supplied as an array of bytes. Something like this:
    +new CommandAPDU(CLA, INS, P1, P2, DATA_ARRAY, Le)+
    So when you call:
    byte [] buffer = apdu.getBuffer()
So does this mean that the byte values inside DATA_ARRAY automatically occupy locations +buffer[ISO7816.OFFSET_CDATA]+ onwards inside the buffer?Yes. The length would be<tt> (short)(buffer[ISO7816.OFFSET_LC]&0xFF) </tt>. Notice the<tt> &0xFF </tt> is a must above 127 bytes.
Or their is a mechanism of extracting the DATA_ARRAY array itself? No.
In fact, in the interest of performance and portability in environments with little memory, the usual coding style is to pass<tt> buffer </tt>, an offset within that, and the length; rather than making an object, which would require a copy. Welcome to the real world of Java Card.
