Using text input to change content of gallery

Hello,
I have an application where I'm using multiple excel tables as my data. Each table has the same columns; The only difference is the data in each one.
I have a screen "GalleryScreen" where I have a Gallery (aGallery) that displays information from a single table (Ex: Table1). aGallery's data is set to Table1.
I now want to allow users to select which table they want to use in the gallery via text input; The user would select a table name via a dropdown menu, and the correct table would be displayed in the GalleryScreen.
However, I'm unable to pass text to the Gallery, since Gallery is expecting a collection; How do I get the application to use the text as a variable?

It cannot be done directly in Siena right now.   As a workaround, you can use If statements:
Create a Table that has the names of each table you want to choose between.   Name that column TName.
Save and import table into Siena.
Set the Galleries Data to: MyVal
(there will be red lines indicating an error, that's OK, we'll fix that shortly.)
Create a Drop Down called DropDown1.
Set the DropDowns Items to the Table you just imported.
Set the DropDowns OnChange to:
If(Dropdown1!Selected!Name = "aGallery", UpdateContext({MyValue: aGallery}),
If(Dropdown1!Selected!Name = "bGallery", UpdateContext({MyValue: bGallery}),
If(Dropdown1!Selected!Name = "cGallery", UpdateContext({MyValue: cGallery}))))
You can change the text in quotes to be whatever you want the user to see, as long as you also change it in the table that contains all the table names.   It does not need to actually n=match the Table Name Siena sees.
Please remember to click “Mark as Answer” on the post that helps you, and to click “Unmark as Answer” if a marked post does not actually answer your question. This is beneficial to other community members reading the thread.

  • Using text input by user in context

    Please help! This is an urgent project so clear instructions
    would be very helpful!
    1) In the first frame of the movie there is a movieclip which
    contains an input field and a submit button. The movie clip has the
    instance name "enterName_mc" and the input field "inputName". When
    the user clicks the submut button or presses enter, the name
    entered into "inputName" needs to be captured as a string or
    whatever.
    2) After the second frame "enterName_mc" disappears on the
    root timeline and then a new mc called "errorBox" appears on the
    20th frame.
    3) in "errorBox" there will be a dynamic text field that
    needs to display the following text "Welcome <name captured from
    inputName> to our website"
    Basically I need to know how to capture the name, export it
    to the _root timeline, load it into errorBox and then insert it
    into a dynamic string of text!
    If this can't be done, and it needs to all be inside the same
    movieclip the same questions apply.

    assign a variable's value to enterName_mc.inputName.text when
    your submit button is pressed (before your goto method). then use
    that variable to assign the text property to the textfield in
    errorBox (after the textfield exists:
    yourVar=enterName_mc.inputName.text;
    errorBox.yourTextField.text = "Welcome "+yourVar+" to our
    website";

  • Text Input Help!

    Hello, I have a couple questions when it comes to using text input:
    After typing into a text input component, how can I get the cursor to disappear?? If I click outside it, that doesn't work. If I press enter, that doesn't work. If I click a custom component, that doesn't work. Is clicking a wireframe component, like a button or a data list, the only way?
    Is there a way to make text input connected? For example, say I have a text input component and a search button. If I type "dog" into the text input and click search, a box appears that displays the results. Could I make it say "Your search for <blank> returned 5 results" where <blank> is whatever I just typed (in this case, "dog")?
    Thanks!

    Hi Sponce,
    1) You are correct. Once a component has focus (i.e. the cursor), the only way for it to lose focus is for another component to gain focus. You can work around this with some programming, but you can't do it in FC. This actually seems wrong to me, so I'm going to file an enhancement request about it.
    2) There is no way to do this in the current version of FC. (But of course, you can code it if you're willing to go to Flash Builder). We certainly hope to add it in the future. How would you imagine that working?

  • Loosing changed contents when used FM REUSE_ALV_GRID_DISPLAY

    Hi,
    I have used FM REUSE_ALV_GRID_DISPLAY in my program as below.
      CALL FUNCTION 'REUSE_ALV_GRID_DISPLAY'

    and kept one column editable by setting EDIT = 'X' and INPUT = 'X' for one column in ist_fieldcat.
    Now if user changes contents of a cell in this editable column and clicks on any toolbar button, then changed contetns are not received in USER_COMMAND routine.
    But if user changes the contents of a cell in this editable column and then double-clicks anywhere inside the ALV grid, then changed contents are received in USER_COMMAND routine.
    I dont want to loose the changed contents of ALV grid, can anybody help in this.
    Thanks in advance.

    In your USER_COMMAND form check the SY-UCOMM  for button which you have pressed may be you have used '&IC1'  (for double click)

    HELP!!!! IT'S URGENT....

    Hi,
    assuming you are using ADF Faces:
    Put a submit(); in the on-change javascript event of the dropdown.
    In the disabled property of the input text use some EL to reference the value of the dropdown eg disabled="{#{! bindings.Fruit.inputValue == 'BANANA'}"

  • Changing the size of text input field in xml style coldfusion forms

    Does anyone know how to get the size attribute of a text
    input field to work in a coldfusion xml form?
    Example: When I enter the following code and view the form in
    a browser, all of the fields are the exact same size.
    <cfform format="xml" name="testingform" method="post">
    <cfformgroup type="horizontal">
    <cfinput type="text" name="first_name" size="10"
    label="First Name">
    <cfinput type="text" name="middle_init" size="2"
    label="Middle Initial">
    <cfinput type="text" name="last_name" size="20"
    label="Last Name">
    </cfformgroup>
    </cfform>

    Indeed a mistake in the Coldfusion engine. Or is there some
    reason for it? In any case, you should report it.
    Look in the source, and you will see why it happens. The XML
    form makes use of the stylesheet
    /CFIDE/scripts/css/default_style.css. There the width attribute is
    hard-coded for the cfinput element, thus
    .cfInput, .cfTextarea {
    font-size: .8em;
    font-family: inherit;
    width: 200px;
    I would replace that block with
    .cfInput {
    font-size: .8em;
    font-family: inherit;
    .cfTextarea {
    font-size: .8em;
    font-family: inherit;
    width: 200px;

    I am pulling my hair out! I am using adobe indesign and just want to make a text box 'autofit text' as I change fonts a lot and want the font to automatically re-size as I change it.
    Is it not possible to create a text box, fill it with dynamic (data driven) text, but make the font size either scale up or down automatically, so that the entire text box is filled? This is a feature in PrintShop Mail Pro called COPY FIT. but no such feature in Indesign??
    help help help please - I have latest version of indesign - thanks, DJ

    lol... it seems to work, but I have another huge problem!
    Apparently .CSV files cannot contain page breaks in the data! The data I am trying to merge is a 'letter', with paragraphs, line breaks, etc.,
    But, after data merging, it ignores page breaks and only merges the first paragraph of each letter. (sigh)
    Solution? Hopefully, an EASY solution. lol as we have thousands of records.
    Is there a third party indesign plugin that will allow .xml, or .xls data merge import??
    Thx,
    DJ

    I would like to use slideshow in lightroom to export my video as a full screen 1920x1080 video with text overlays.  I am using text overlay in lightroom as it reads from the metadata that is easy for me to input in the library screen.  When i export from lightroom slideshow and choose the 1920x1080 resolution the end product is a very small video in the middle of a black background.  i have double checked and do not have any borders turned on.  Another option would be to export from the library but lr mogrify does not seem to put text overlays on video either.  Any input would be welcome.

    I dont understand anything you said in your post.
    Do you have a specific question about video production?
    The forums are for individual technical or creative issues that users have with video production. I am sur someone will be able to help you, but and to get a response it is best to ask a specific question.
    Is this about a technical problem you have or something about setting up a web site? If its the latter this is the wrong forum.

  • How to make Text Input in Sales Order Trigger Change Event

    Hi Gurus,
    I have a project going on where when a sales order is created, changed or cancelled, an IDoc is FTP to our freight company.
    Now the issues is when we change a sales order text input (for example, shipping note). Nothing happens. The system doesn't take this as a change so no change event is triggered.
    Text fields I'm talking about is the one from Go to --> Header. and for Item Go to --> Item.
    When I input a note in this field, it comes out in the IDoc, but when I go back to the Sales Order and change the note, it doesn't trigger a change and therefore no IDoc is generated.
    how can I go about this?
    thanks.

    Hi,
    Could you initiate the idoc creation from a workflow?
    Have you checked the event trace?
    Is the BUS2032 object type CHANGED raised? I checked our system and event is raised on text change.
    Transaction SWELS to activate and deactivate trace.
    Transaction SWEL to monitor event raised.
    Don't forget to turn trace off
    Hope this helps

  • Make use of text input to submit text

    Hello,
    thanks for a lot of wonderful features in the second beta release. I particularly like the improved ability to do editing in catalyst (instead of always going back to illustrator to modify the slightest things, in the previous beta) and the improved performance.
    My question is:
    How can I submit text in a text input? (Say, the user keys in something into a text input, and clicks submit, is there a way for me to "receive" the things he keyed in and maybe even validate it?)
    Thanks in advance!
    By the way, I would like it if the performance can be improved further and i also vote for allowing us to reorder states in catalyst (I don't seem to be able to promote that idea in the Labs IDeas section)!
    Regards,
    Colin

    Hey Colin,
    Thanks for the feedback, we appreciate it!
    So, to 'receive' the user's input text and validate it, you're going to have to bring your fxp project into Flash Builder and do a little bit of coding.
    The TextInput documentation gives some really good detail on how you can work with this control in more advanced ways: http://help.adobe.com/en_US/FlashPlatform/beta/reference/actionscript/3/spark/components/T extInput.html
    I think you're going to want to listen to a textInput, or change event, and then validate there.
    You can also add a Validator to validate your text input, where this flex quick start to validation guide might help you: http://www.adobe.com/devnet/flex/quickstart/validating_data/
    In the meantime, if you have any ideas on how a feature like this may work in Catalyst, please post to the ideas site.

    <h:inputText binding="#{backing_main_test: <--- was that colon intentional?

  • Text Input field return char problem

    I have a multiline text input field used as a message area on a form (sending mail through a PHP doc).  When I hit return to start new paragraph in that field and the form content is send and received at other end everything after that return is lost?  Any ideas would be fantastic...
    Marc

    copy the code between the dotted lines and attach it to the same timeline that contains your submit button:
    var sendLV:LoadVars=new LoadVars();
    var receiveLV:LoadVars=new LoadVars();
    receiveLV.onData=function(src){
    trace("received");
    trace(src);  // or use a textfield to see the return if you're not able to see trace output when testing
    // and you should attach code to objects.  assign an instance name to your submit button (say submitBtn) and use:
    submitBtn.onRelease=function(){
    sendLV.name = form.nameTF.text;  // assign properties to sendLV that your php is expecting.  assign values to those properties using the form data
    sendLV.email=...
    sendLV.message=...
    sendLV.sendAndLoad("email.php",receiveLV,"POST");
    trace("sent\n"+sendLV.message)
    and change your email.php file to:
    <?php
    echo $_POST['message'];
    ?>

  • Show the period value in column header using Text Variable

    We are using Posting Period & Financial Year to calculate YTD & MTD, for current year and previous years. These posting period and financial year characteristics are custom created characteristics we are using due to customer specific requirement.
    Input values are posting period, financial year and numeric value. To calculate previous year, I need to subtract numeric value from the input financial year. Every thing is working fine up to this.
    In the report I need to show the posting period and financial year values dynamically in each column header of the report for MTD, YTD for current year & previous year. I tried to achieve this using Text Variables, but I didn’t succeed. If some one can give me some idea to resolve this, it would be very helpful.
    I am excellent in ABAP coding. If you can specify me to code in User Exit, I can do it.
    Column headers should be 08.1999 Sales Qty, 08.2008 Sales Qty, 1999 Sales Qty, 2008 Sales Qty.

    Hi Abhinav,
    Try using the content text variables 0T_FYEAR and 0T_FPER3, when used in the head these variable should display the year and period specified in the RKF.
    e.g
    &0T_FPER3&. &0T_FYEAR& Sales Qty = 08.1999 Sales Qty
    If that doesnt work, try creating text replacement path variables referencing the variables you created for the year and period input. To do this click on the RKF and click on the dropdown by the yellow box next to the description on the general tab and select New Variable, enter the description, tech name and set processng by to Replacment Path, then select period as the ref. characteristic, then on the replacement path tab change replace variable with to variable and then select the variable you are using for the period input, save then hit ok, this is now a text representation of the variable your are inputing for period and can be used in the column headers, you will need to repeat the process for the fiscal year.
    Hope this helps
    Josh
