Do you mean you want to see a row with the dimensional attributes even if there is no Fact?
How do you know "it didn't work"? Why don't you post your code so we can see if you did it correctly? Based on what you wrote, I can see why it didn't work.
in OBIEE Administration in business model, i tried with Right other join, left outher join, full other join, but didn't work. The proper syntax is not "right +*other*+ join, left +*outher*+ join, full +*other*+ join," but RIGHT OUTER JOIN, LEFT OUTER JOIN, FULL OUTER JOIN.
Maybe you spelled the key words wrong. Can't tell because you didn't post what you did. Other than that, check out my solution here:

how about if it have about 10 or more attributes to be selected..
how can i work with the SQL thanks..

    Hi,
Query for your example should like like this:
    SELECT * FROM <your_table>
        WHERE name is null;
how about if it have about 10 or more attributes to be selected..
If using 10 or more attributes you mean 10 or more columns with null use this:
    SELECT * FROM <your_table>
WHERE <col1> is null AND <col2> is null etc...Peter D.

  • NULL Value in Journal Entry and Wrong Tax Summary

    Hi people,
I need your expert help for a big problem that appens to some customers.
    They run SAP BO 8.8 SP:00 PL:12
    This is the scenario:
You insert a new documet,  A/R Invoice or A/P Invoice is the same, problem appear in all of them.
After you insert the document, using SQL Server Management try this Select statment:
Select * from JDT1 where JDT1.debit is null OR JDT1.credit is null
A list of record where listed. And, this is the problem, NULL values are all in the VAT Lines in debit or credit colums.
If you try to make a SUM(debit-credit) you discovery that, 1000,00-null=null
Consequently, TAX Sumary report, that probably use arithmetic operation like me in SELECT statment,  count a wrong number when null values in DEBIT or CREDIT column in JDT1 for VAT declaration.
How could I solve? And how i can make invoices store 0 rather than NULL in the VAT Line?
Thanks in advance for your tips and solutions

    Thaks Neetu for your answer.
I thinks there is a misurandertanding.
    My problem is not SQL.
My problem is the SAP TAX Report.
I used SQL only for check data and discover why SAP raise a wrong TAX Summary report.
So, my question is: Why invoices write null values in journal entry, and how I can solve the problem that TAX summary report use null value in operations so the results are wrong.

  • Help: matrix report grid lines missing for null values only on server side

    Hi,
I created a matrix report in pdf format. The output in great when run through report builder locally, it renders all necessary details. However, after the report being moved into AS server, the report does not show grid lines for null values.
It looks to me this has something to do with configurations and hope someone know what needs to be done.
    Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.
    Jimmy

    Thanks for replying.
    DESFORMAT is PDF.
There should be a fix as I had same issue with same Oracle version at my previous company. DBA fixed the issue on AS server.
I found your post on 09/28/2010 with a link to patch set: Re: Null value fields disappear  in pdf output format
We worked out with the work around without install the patch.

  • Suppressing NuLL values in Crystal Report

    Hi....
I m facing a problem,i use asp.net and  I have designed a Crystal Report.I had to place Text Objects in the the details section along with the corresponding Records from Database as per the Reports Design needed. Now i want that the NULL values in the report should be suppressed and should be disappeared  along with the static Text Objects. Like as it happens in Grid view in ASP .net
Please Help me to solve this issue..
    Thank you

I think i have been able to do it with little compliated suppress logic.
When i design the report this is how it looks in design mode:
    Line1  Field1
    Line2  Field2
    Line3  Field3
and when Field 2 is null or contains a blank string the output should look like:
    Line1  Field1
    Line3  Field3
    1. Initially just design the text fields and db fields without any suppress.
    2. Check Suppress for Line 2 and use the formula: isnull({Table.Field2}) . Do nothing to Field2. This should suppress Line2 when Field2 is null, you can also add StrCmp({Table.Field2}, "") = 0 for checking blank strings.
    3. Now copy Object Line3 and Field3 and place on top of Line2 and Field2 respectively so that their positions match. Let these newly copied objects be Line3_1 and Field3_1 respectively.
    4. Line3_1 and Field3_1 should be suppressed if Field2 contains a non null value. So for both of them Click Suppress checkbox and add the following in the format formula editor not isnull({Table.Field2})
    5. If Line3_1 and Field3_1 are visible = Field2 is null\empty -> Line3 and Field3 should be suppressed or the output would be like:
    Line1 Field1
    Line3 Field3
    Line3 Field3
    So to remove the duplicate:
For both of them Click Suppress checkbox and add the following in the format formula editor isnull({Table.Field2})
Hope this helps. I will see if I can attach a sample report based on xtreme here.

    hi ,
I am new to BI Publisher and creating a report in BI Publisher. In the result set for null values, report is printing as "null". I checked the query , it gives blank (empty value) data for null values. But in report it is coming as "null" value (string "null"). I require to show the report as blank data for null values. Can you please help me to find solution for this ?.

I want to restrict these null values from the report.

Okay. If you are using sum, you could use the following: <?sum(Petrofac-ECRevenue[.!=''])?>
ensure that the path to the element is correct. Are you using a syntax like <?sum(current-group()/Petrofac-ECRevenue)?>
Send me an email to [email protected] with your xml data and RTF if you can't make it work.

  • Select list null value issue - for filtering the tabular form report

    hello,
I have a tabular form created on emp table and in the table their are entries for the employees who don't have a location, like it is null for some of the employees.
Now I have created a select list item - for filtering the results based on location.
my select query for select list item is
select distinct location_name d,location_id r from emp order by 1
-- so my select list contains all the distinct location_name including the null on my tabular form.
so based on the selelcted value(in the select list), I am able to filter the results in my tabular form.
but the thing is that when i try to select an null value from my select list - i am not able to filter my report - like its displaying all the records, its not filtering.
can anyone help me out with this.
    thanks.

    Hi
    Try below select for LOV
select distinct nvl(location_name,'No Location') d,nvl(location_name,'No Location') r from emp order by 1 And then change tabular from select where clause also use nvl(location_name,'No Location') like
    SELECT *
    FROM emp
    WHERE nvl(location_name,'No Location') = :Px_YOUR_ITEMBr, Jari

  • Need to run the report for All Values when Null is passed in parameter

    Hi All,
In my BIP report, I am using a parameter :asset with Type as Text, which means user will type the values for the parameter in the text box.
Now, this parameter can take multiple comma separated values. I have a requirement to run the report for All Values when user doesn't enter any value in the parameter text box and if user enters any value(s) then the report will run for those values . The way, I tried to handle that in the query using couple of ways was :
IMP : My Database is SQL Server
    where
    (table.asset = isnull((:asset), table.asset) or table.asset in (:asset))
Now this works fine when I give a single asset number but when I give multiple values separated by comma like 123, 345 in the text box, then the statement fails saying 'encountered ,'
    I also tried simply
table.asset in isnull((:asset),table.asset) -- but this doesn't work as it doesn't allow me to use in operater while using isnull and if i will use = operater then it won't work in case of multiple values
Any suggestions on how can I handle this? Any help would be highly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Ronny

thanks for replying, but i tried this option too, it did not work for me, neither isnull nor coalesce. I mean, the solution work for single value but when i pass multiple values then separated by a comma then it doesn't work and shows me an error like "Incorrect Syntax ','". I am using SQL server as DB and bip is 10.1.3.4.1
also please share the SR number, so i can also check the same.
can there be any other work around to this?
    thanks,

  • Crystal Report - NULL values mapped to Column names in reports

    Hai,
I am using rows of data retrived from the SQL Server 2005 Express and sometimes the column names are NULL , I want to set a default value to this NULL value and set it as Data axes label / Group axes values, can some one please help me with this issue.
    Thank you in advance.
    Vijay

I resolved this issue myself, this can be set as other Data Labels, Group Label or Series Riser's properties too, left-click twice until the blank item is selected and then right click and select "Edit Axis Label" item and here it can edited with the new value(text).

  • Enable null values assignments in javascript..without stopping the program flow. Same code is ok in IE8

I have the following code which is falling over in Firefox, while in other browsers like IE, Chrome and Opera is passing through even though the value in the array at that point of time is null.
    var vitemp = document.getElementById('F06_'+ij).value;
In firefox, i get the error below.
    [18:59:35.747] TypeError: document.getElementById(...) is null @ http://
How can i change the firefox parameters so as to be less strict for null value assignments ?

Use code like this to test if that id exists.
    <pre><nowiki>var vi_id = document.getElementById('F06_'+ij);
    var vitemp = vi_id?vi_id.value:null;</nowiki></pre>

  • Problem with QofQ and Null Values

Just converted from CF5 to CF7. Finally figured out what was
    causing the error message :
"The value "" cannot be converted to a number" when running a
QofQ. It happens whenever there is a NULL (and I think a ZERO)
value in the QofQ. I'm using the QofQ in a seperate chart program.
The main query merges data from a store and a region table.
I'm doing a LEFT OUTER JOIN to combine the REGION with the STORE,
AND so that stores with NO SALES for a given day will show up as
ZERO. On the main report, when I don't use a QofQWhen grouping by
DAY or MONTH, I can test the value in the CFOUTPUT for NULL or ZERO
and display "0" or "N/A" on the report.
But when I try to chart it, using a QofQ to read in the
values from the main query, and format the numbers, I get this
error message. I've tried using the CAST function, using FLOAT,
DOUBLE, BIGINT, etc., but still get same error message.
The only way I could fix this is to add a WHERE statement to
the QofQ, that only includes sales values greater than ZERO. But
then, I have gaps in my chart because stores with NO SALES for a
given day or MONTH don't appear. Because they are removed from the
query. The whole point of LEFT JOINS is to include items with no
    values (or NULL) values.
Does anyone know if it's possible to keep these values in a
QofQ? So that items (e.g., store locations in my case) with NULL or
ZERO values for some or all days or months can be charted? Even
with a ZERO value? I've read everything I can get my hands on
regarding QofQ, the CAST function, etc., but nothing seems to work.
Thanks for any help. (FYI, didn't have this problem with CF5. It's
QofQ could handle NULL or ZERO values without providing an error).
    Gary

Well, I tried the IsNull function on the 3 SUM() values I was
calculating in my SELECT statement (on a LEFT OUTER JOIN QUERY),
and I STILL got another "cannot convert "" to a number" but this
time the error message was more direct, and pointed me to a DATE
field in my query, where I was SORTING AND GROUPING either by DAY
or MONTH (depending on what user selected on form).
In my QofQ, I'm not just reformating the integer SUM()
values, but also the date values. So, I applied the IsNull()
function to the DATE values in my main query. I still kept getting
errors. But after experimenting ((SQL Server BOL docs doesn't give
ISNULL() examples for DATE FIELDS, only NUMBER fields), I tried
putting the dates in SINGLE QUOTES in my IsNull() function, the
QUERY RAN. Then I wasn't sure WHAT date to enter, e.g., 1/1/1889 or
    1/1/2001, etc.
Then, I discovered, after experimenting, that you cannot just
blindly enter ANY date when using IsNull in a date field,
especially if you are using CFGRAPH to chart the results by day.
You have to select a date within the date range the user selected,
so this means using the FORM.DATE (or URL.DATE) value from the
form. Here's the working example from my SELECT main query:
    SELECT SUM(ISNULL(d.ttldb,0)) AS SumOfDB,
    SUM(ISNULL(d.ttldbv,0)) AS SumOfDBV,
    SUM(ISNULL(d.ttldbi,0)) AS SumOfDBI,
    <CFIF '#url.reptype#' IS "DAILY">
    ISNULL(d.depday, '#url.date1#') AS depday
    <CFELSE>
    month(ISNULL(d.depday, '#url.date2#')) AS TranMonth,
    year(ISNULL(d.depday, '#url.date2#')) AS TranYear
    </CFIF>
Then I discovered that whatever date was used in the URL.DATE
field (in my case it would be one of the two date field from the
form, and depended on whether you coded DATE1 or DATE2, the chart
would always show ZERO values for that date. So I tried putting the
IsNull() date values in the GROUP BY and ORDER BY statements, e.g.,
    <CFIF '#url.reptype#' IS "DAILY">
    GROUP BY ISNULL(d.depday, '#url.date1#')
    ORDER BY ISNULL(d.depday, '#url.date1#') DESC
    <CFELSE>
    GROUP BY year(ISNULL(d.depday, '#url.date2#')),
    month(ISNULL(d.depday, '#url.date2#'))
    ORDER BY year(ISNULL(d.depday, '#url.date2#')),
    month(ISNULL(d.depday, '#url.date2#'))
    </CFIF>
And this worked. The report ran just fine, and the chart
    charted every value correctly.
I guess you have to learn all the little "quirks" about CF7
and how it's QofQ and chart programs work. But so far, so good.
Thank you all for your help. Now I've got to update other old
CF5 programs that are returning errors when there are null values
from my LEFT OUTER JOIN queries. Will take some time, but at least
I know how to do it. Thanks to your help.
I really appreciate your time and efforts to help with this
    issue.
    Gary
