Using the bone tool with a psd, png, or jpeg

When I import a psd, png, or jpeg file into Flash CS5 and try to use the bone tool, it scrambles the image. It does this if I simply import and BREAK APART the image or if I turn it into a graphic symbol. PLEASE HELP!

Are you using AFCS whiteboard or any other AFCS class? If not, then I feel this is not the appropriate forum. I guess you need to ask in flash or other forum for your problem.

    I have a game design project that I have to animate characters for. The Bone tool in Flash seems like the perfect tool for the job!
    Here's my problem: I can draw things in Flash and rig them with the Bone tool and animate them fine. However, I'm much more comfortable with Illustrator. But whenever I try to bring in external artwork, I get lots of errors.
    Create (solid color, single object) body parts as layers in Illustrator. Import Illy file to stage in Flash. Drag bone tool across body. Body is highlighted but I can't connect the other objects. I realize the Armature is only above the body layer and all the other layers are on top. Drag Armature layer to top. Still no luck. The bone just doesn't care about the other objects.
    This is my ideal workflow so I'd love it if anybody could tell me what I'm doing wrong here. Should I make all the elements into MovieClips? That hasn't worked when I've tried it. Should I import differently? Should I make the entire character into a movieclip and then rig the instance on the stage?
    I'll be exporting it to PNGs at the end, so I don't need it to be robust down the line.
    I get other errors with other importing methods too, but I can't recall them ("Can't connect...something" when using a PSD). But like I said: Illy to Flash is my ideal.

    There are two ways of dealing with bones. You can either connect bones to a single shape on a layer. Or you can connect bones to multiple movieclips. The bones will link the movieclips together and put them all on one layer if the movieclips are on different layers.
    Shape cases are good to use if you wish to morph the shape during animation. This is really useful if you have simple shapes.
    For more complex shapes (shape with lots of control points), it is best to convert them to movieclip.

  • Using the Bone tool on a jpeg

    Hi, I am trying to use the bone tool on a jpeg image I edited in photoshop. When I import it I have to "break-apart" the image to use the bone tool on it and all seems fine. but when the pose is set, the image vanishes during the motion. Any idea what I'm doing wrong?

    Before using the bone tool, place your bitmap on the stage and F8 (or Modify>Convert to Symbol) to convert to movie clip, button, or graphic. You can then use the IK tools on that symbol. If you are simply "Breaking Apart" the image, Flash turns it into a vector square with a bitmap fill. If that bitmap has transparency, once you manipulate the IK armiture, the bitmap will "disappear" either all together or by the defining edges of the vector shape. Raw vectors and symbols do not mix with the IK tools, only one or the other.
    Bitmaps do not link with the IK tools directly.

  • Problems using the bone tool, CS4?

    Okay so I have spent countless hours trying to figure this out. I want to use the bone tool to make a leg animation. First I create a new symbol called Leg. I double click the Leg in the library which opens it in leg window. Then I grab the circle tool in the tool bar and make the thigh. Then I make another circle for the leg. Now the problem is when I click the bone tool to connect them, it won't let me connect the thigh with the leg! Can somebody tell me why this is happening? (This is all done on one layer).
    However when I click the circle tool and then click object drawing tool in the bottom of the tool bar I then can connect both the thigh and the leg with the bone tool. Problem is when I use this feature if I want to move the shapes to revise it a little they wont seperate. The thigh is stuck to the leg.
    Some please please help me.. this is making me angry!
    I want to be able to draw a leg with a couple shapes and be able to connect the bone tool to one shape to the other. Thanks Rossi

  • Error when using the Bones Tool

    I'm getting the following error every time I use the bones tool:
    Plugin tool script error in method mouseUp
    Plugin tool script error in method deactivate
    Version is 10.0.2.
    Any ideas?

    Hmmm.. 
    Well first, uninstall and reinstall Flash CS4.  Then retest it BEFORE running the 10.0.2 update. 
    Then update to 10.0.2 and retest again.
    If it still happens at that point on all files and all efforts to use the Bones tool please open a support case via http://www.adobe.com/support/flash .

  • How do I send a 2-10 MHz pulse train to my DAQ 6052E why simultaneously reading in data? I'm using the NIDAQ Tools with Igor Pro.

    I need to send a continuous 2-10MHz TTL timing signal to a low pass filter (to set the cutoff frequency) while I collect data from one of the analog inputs. I'm hoping that I can send the TTL signal and collect the data through the same DAQ 6052E board.
    I've been told that I can send a pulse train using one of the two counters on the board. But does anyone have more specific advice how to implement this using the NIDAQ Tools extensions to IGOR Pro? In particular I'm concerned about how I can send a continuous TTL signal and simultaneously read data. Or can you just turn on the timing signal and it stays on until it's
    turned off again?

    You can program one of the counters to generate a continuous pulse train. Once programmed to do so the counter needs no further interaction. It will continue to generate the signal until stopped through SW. So you can start the counter using the functions provided to you, then forget about it and program the AI operations.

  • Color changes when using the bone tool

    When i'm animating some legs or something like that with the bone tool the leg turns in random frames to black. So between the pose you get flickering black legs, i can select the frame where to leg is black and change it just a bit and then the leg goes back to normal. But when i have to do this with long animations it takes ages. Does anyone recognize this problem? Because ive looked the internets but havent found any solution. Please help

  • Flash CS4 Won't let me use the bone tool

    I just got Flash CS4 and am working through the Classroom in
    A book. I'm somewhat new to Flash and this may be something I'm
    doing, but I don't think so. I've followed the instructions pretty
    closely. I'm doing the crane animation using the graphics they
    provided and for some reason I keep getting an error that says
    "Cannot link bitmap objects". The bone tool has an X over it when I
    roll over the bitmap arms. I even tried creating some blocks to
    link, but the bone tool would do the same thing. I'm in the right
    layer and it is NOT locked. What gives??

    I figured out my mistake. I was dragging bitmaps onto the
    stage and not the movie clip symbols.

  • How do you use the MASK tool with 4K footage?

    Hi everyone!
    Normally when I use the mask tool, I drag it onto the footage and four nodes appear on the clip, one in each corner - and then I can move each corner to where I want it...
    I've just shot some 4k footage using a Canon 1d-c and for some reason, when I drag the Mask onto the footage, the four nodes still appear but I can't move them around!
    Does that make sense?
    Any help would be massively appreciated!

    There shouldn't be any difference in being able to adjust them just because you're using 4K. I can't reproduce the problem and can't think of a reason why it would happen. Hopefully someone else will chime in.

  • How to use a black dot symbol with the bone tool

    I have read about being able to add a small round dot symbol when using the bone tool to make additional conections to the symbol, but I can't find any instructions on how to actually do it.
    Can anyone please advise on where I might find instructions on how this is done?

    Option 2:
    Select the Line Segment Tool (shortcut "\"). Click on the origin point. The dialog box should open. Specify the length. Apply a stroke with round caps. Adjust stroke width and color to taste.

    I'm trying to use the EDT tool with transfer type 15 to upload a BP into R3 with Vendor details.  I've successfully created the BP and Vendor, however I was looking to extend the migration to include purchase org data, unfortunately I couldnu2019t see any of the LFM1 type fields on the BUS_DI structure.
    Has anyone used this tool to upload this kind of data? If so how did you do it? 
    Also I've seen a OSS note 510095 which talks about how to extend the structures used by the tool, however this always seems to cause a short dump.  Has anyone applied the instructions and had a successful outcome?  Once again if you've done this could you please share your experience?

  • The bone tool is distorting my graphics.

    I've used it before without major problems but for one particular scene it just wont comply. I need the head and neck of a tortoise (I drew it in flash) to slowly angle towards the ground. It needs to be smooth (impossible to do frame by frame). When I apply the bone tool the graphics change so that some lines around the tortoise's mouth become thicker and some become bumpy and irregular. This has happened before but the problem went away after rubbing out some parts and redrawing them (no idea why that made a difference but it worked so who cares). Well that isn't working this time at all.  If it wasn't for this, the bone tool would otherwise be working fine (I can still move it where I need to) Please help, thanks.

    double click your caterpillar graphic in the library (to edit the symbol)>convert each group (head, body parts) into a movieclip>use the bone tool.

  • Where is bone tool? If so, when will you update Flash Professional CC so it will have the bone tool?

    I recently installed Flash Pro CC a week ago and I cannot find the bone tool to animate the characters. Without the bone tool, this application will be useless to me. And it's really hard to install the extensions which let us use the bone tool, all the extensions I've tried is absolutely ineffective.
    Can you "possibly" update the Flash Pro CC so there "will" be a bone tool to use and animate the character?
    If you have anything to say, it must be relevant to this question, and I don't allow any irrelevant or useless comments which do not relate to the question I am trying to ask.

    The Flash developers have stated they will bring an improved bone system and motion graph editor back in an upcoming update for Flash. That was more than four months ago, though. Perhaps this year?
    In the meantime you could animate your characters in Anime Studio Pro (which has an excellent bones system and full graph editor), and import back into Flash.

  • Moving an Illustrator file with the bone tool

    I normally draw all my cartoons in Illustrator (cs5 at the moment), but for a school project I have to animate these cartoons.
    I believe that I have done this before in Flash CS5 with the bone tool, but this time it doesn't work.
    I have read numerous of pages that try out the bone tool, but nothing works for me.
    I tried:
    making the body a movieclip and just import the other files
    making every part a movieclip (head, arms, legs, tail, etc.)
    making every part a png or jpeg file
    grouping and ungrouping of the vector
    It seems the only option left for me is to draw my cartoon in Flash. Which I'm not too fond of, because Flash ofcourse isn't a drawing programme like Illustrator.
    Please help me if you can, thank you in advance.

    I tried the seperate limbs as movieclips with the bonetool.
    That worked, but I could only apply two bones of the bonetool. Longer than that didn't work, so it never reached the ankle of the cartoon.
