Using the SciLab LabVIEW gateway

Has anyone had any success running commands through the SciLab Scripting Node that are avaialble through an installed module in SciLab?  I am trying to run a command (emd) that is available through the EMD ToolBox, but am getting an error (Error 1050 occurred at LabVIEW:  Error occurred while executing script. Error message from server: . in Untitled 3) that doesn't really provide much insight as to what is wrong. Essentially, the input (in) is a 1D array of reals, the output (out) is a 2D array of reals and the code in the node is out = emd(in).  This works when I am in SciLab, but fails when using the SciLab scripting node.  I am able to run other simple scripts using the SciLab scripting node (for example, if I use out = sin( 10 * in), I get a 1D array of reals that is what it should be), so I do not think that this is an issue with the Scripting node.  I can't find much in the way of documentation, so any help would be greatly appreciated.
I am running SciLab 5.4.0, with the EMD Toolbox installed (installed using ATOMS), LabVIEW 2010 and the current version of the SciLab LabVIEW gateway that is available on the NI website.

Hi,
A colleague of mine has some good suggestions on this matter on the following thread:

  • Using "getf" command in Scilab-LabVIEW Gateway

I am having trouble using the "getf" command in the Scilab-LabVIEW Gateway.
I would like to load an external Scilab function using the LabVIEW script
node and perform an operation with it.
In Scilab, the following code works correctly:
                                 scilab-4.1.1
                          Copyright (c) 1989-2007
                      Consortium Scilab (INRIA, ENPC)
        Startup execution:
          loading initial environment
        -->getf "C:/program files/scilab-4.1.1/macros/dec2bin.sci";
        -->dec2bin(10,4)
         ans  =
          1010
        -->
However, when I execute the same code in the Scilab-LabVIEW Gateway, I
    receive the error:
Error 1048 occured at LabVIEW:  LabVIEW failed to get variable from
script server. Server:"" in Untitled 1
        Possible Reason(s):
LabVIEW:  LabVIEW failed to get variable from script server.
Is it possible to use "getf" in the Scilab-LabVIEW Gateway?
    Thanks,

    Hi,
You may want to contact the persons responsible for creating the Scilab to LabVIEW Gateway.  I have seen this error with scripts usually when it is required to have user inputs and have the user interact with the program.  Sometimes fixing this problem is if you associate the variable being called to an input in LabVIEW.
    I hope this helps,

  • Why are my LabView Dialog Boxes no longer modal when using the Example LabVIEW Operator Interfaces?

    Hello,
I have a step in my sequence that pops up a modal LabVIEW dialog box. My LabVIEW vi uses the TestStand - Start Modal Dialog.vi and TestStand - Stop Modal Dialog.vi as described in the example and it works as advertised when I'm using the TestStand Development environment however when I use the sample Operator Interfaces distributed with TestStand the Dialog boxes lose focus. I have the VI Properties->Window Appearance set to Dialog and have followed all of the instructions I could find for making a dialog modal. I've also reviewed all the documentation I could get my hands on including previous posts on this board and didn't see anything obvious.
Does anyone have any suggestions as to what I may be missing? Has anyone else experienced this problem and come up with the solution?
I am using LabVIEW 8.0 along with TestStand 3.5.
    Thanks,
    RG

    Hi RG,
Running the example modal dialog in the teststand3.5 examples folder and using labVIEW8.0, I notice that when  the Dialog is displayed its not active, but it is modal to the OI. Clicking on the Dialog panel makes it active. If you try to click on the OI panel behind, you can not. Is this what you are seeing?
I am using the Full labVIEW IO as supplied with TestStand and the example VI in the modal dialog folder is as supplied.
The LabVIEW Adapter is still configured to use the active labVIEW developement environment.
If I run the same example, only this time using LabVIEW7.1, the Dialog panel is active.
There is a patch to take it to labVIEW8.01, at this moment in time I am not sure what the update fixes.
There does seem to be a problem with TestStand3.5 (engine) and LabVIEW 8.0.

  • SCILAB LabVIEW Gateway

For those who do numerical computations, a new free tool has been released about a week ago.
If you are familiar with SCILAB (The open source platform for numerical computation) you might be pleasantly surprised that a Scilab_LabVIEW_Gateway is now available.
There is also a Developer Zone article: Connecting LabVIEW with INRIA Scilab
    Has anyone tried it yet?
LabVIEW Champion . Do more with less code and in less time .

Funny story how I run across this...
Years ago, I had installed scilab (3.0?) on a desktop, played around a bit, then forgot it. (We were forced to buy matlab to run some software from another lab). Yesterday I was at that computer, noticed the scilab icon and vaguely remembered what it was. To see if there is a newer version, I went to the scilab site and the word LabVIEW was smiling right at me.
    What a coincidence.!
I don't typically use script nodes, but I think it is great to have this alternative. It could be useful for some heavy linear algebra stuff. How is the speed compared to e.g. matlab and mathscript nodes and compare to pure G?
Do you know if it works in built applications if the target computer has scilab installed? (That's actually a relatively easy requirement, because scilab is free. )

  • Can't connect to a majority of webpages using the RG54gs residential gateway

I'm stumped with the MSI Residential Gateway.
We primarily got it as a gift for my father-in-law who had just aquired a centrino laptop.  He started complaining that he was not being able to download his e-mails.  Found out later, it was because the gateway shuts off the connection after some time of inactivity and on occassion after a few minutes.  There was some improvement after I installed the new firmware (feb release) but it was still there.
I decided to bring it home and test it on my network.  I immediately noticed that I couldn't visit all the sites I used to.  It seemed that all the secondary sites were no longer available.  An example is, opened google (can connect), google searched for RG54gs and come up with the msi website but when I click on the link to the msi website, I get a page not available error.  This is also the same thing that happens to the rest of the links.  I hooked all connections back to my accton router and I'm able to access all site again.
Can't  figure out what the problem is?
There was a suggestion that for Ppoe connection you're suppose to leave the "connect on demand" button disabled.  I found a little improvement when it was enabled. All this is using the wired part. Using the wireless is totally useless with almost everything unaccessible even though the signal is excellent.
Sorry for the long story but it's really got me to a point where I don't know what else to do.

Are you sure that this did not happen on the morning of June 15th when the major web sites were actually unavailable due to Akami problems?
Check the RG54GS configuration and see what DNS server it is using. Check the configuration of the PC and make sure it is using the RG54GS as the DNS server.
You don't mention if you are ADSL or cable. An incorrect MTU length (guess at 1400 if your service does not tell you) can cause connections to be dropped.
I use ADSL and could not connect at all until I got the new firmware, since then things have been OK. I am on a very marginal ADSL connection.

  • You can bridge the Fios Quantum Gateway Router

Long story short. I could not figure out how to disable SIP on the Fios Gateway Router and some my Intercom Video Door station in use by my Control4 uses SIP. The router was causing conflicts and Control4 advised that SIP needs to be disabled on the router. Disabling SIP is a very common answer to people using IP based video conferencing or VOIP phones. That left me with 2 choices. Get the Fios Quantum Gateway to bridge and install my own router where SIP can be disabled, or get rid of Fios and use an ISP that does not require a combo "modem"/router. I didn't want to give up on Fios so easily. My installation was new and I am happy with the uptime and performance. I spent 2 days trying to get my Fios Quantum Gateway to Bridge.   I am writing this up so that someone else doesn't have to live the pain I've lived.  First up, after multple days of looking, their are limited instructions on getting the Fios Quantum Gateway router to bridge. The instructions you can find are for the Actiontec router. It's "almost" the same router but not 1:1. Most step by step guides say that the steps for the Actiontec will work for a FIos Quantum Gateway. That's not inaccurate, but isn't fully accurate either. Their are steps involved in the Acitontec instructions that do not apply to the Fios Quantum Gateway. First - this link is the baseline instructions I found that mostly work: http://www.dslreports.com/forum/r27666920-How-to-Make-Actiontec-MI424WR-Revision-I-Rev-I-a-Network All credit to the authors that came before me. I didn't discover these steps. I hijacked them and tested them with some revisions for a Fios Quantum Gateway router. I take not credit or responsbility for any action you take based on my post. It "works for me" and continues to work after 24 hours. My please note that I am using Coax/MoCa from the ONT to the Router and that Ethernet was not an option. I am going to repost the steps verbatim, but add some notes along the way where my experience was different in bold. I highly recommend you read the entire thing one time before starting with the step-by-step. You can replace the word Actiontech with Quantum Gateway in the below. Their are subtle differences in termonligy between the Acitontec and the Quantum. If you see a step in the guide and can not follow because your Quantum doesn't have the same display, you must find the nearest equivelement or ignore it entirelly. First get your Router and Actiontec set up like so: ONT -> Coax -> Actiontec Coax Port -> Actiontec LAN Port 1 -> My Selected Router WAN Port. Unplug the cable from the WAN Port, but keep it nearby. I was actually in LAN Port 1 on the Quantum Gateway but I don't think it will actually matter.
Now we need to obtain the WAN MAC address of each Router device.
For the Actiontec go to: Top Menu – Advanced – MAC Cloning – Set Mac of Device – Broadband (Coax). Here you should see the MAC Address, write this down on a paper or something. This is critical. You need to do this. Without the clone, I was unable to bridge. Note that I did not have to STAY cloned. I just had to clone until the lease expired even though I believe I had released the IP successfully. For your own router: You need to look this up yourself. The ASUS RT-N56U (w/ custom firmware) has a spot that just displays my WAN MAC address for me. I'm using an EdgeRouter from Unfi. Nobody can help you here except the forums for the router you are using because how you do this is different from router to router (generally speaking.)
Once you have both of these pieces of information, it is time to start.
    1. Hardware Reset Actiontec Router I wouldn't do this. I didn't. I would actually save a copy of the configuration you have on the router before going any further, in case you have to hardware reset and restore your router.
    2. Log into Router using [ admin/password ].
    3. Change admin login info and set a different password. There should be a link on the side.
    4. Top Menu – My Network – Side Menu – Network Connections – Network (Home/Office) – Settings – IP Address – Setto 192.168.x.1 where x is not used on your LAN – Apply
*NOTE*: Upon changing the default gateway IP of the Actiontec from 192.168.1.1 to 192.168.x.1, you will need to [ ipconfig /release ] and [ ipconfig /renew ] from Command Prompt, so your computer can quickly reconnect to the Actiontec. I changed this to 192.168.0.5 because my DHCP starts at 50. The Fios default is 192.168.0.1 and not .1.1.
    5. Log back in to Actiontec router with new IP and new password you previously set.
    6. Top Menu – Wireless Settings – Side Menu – Basic Security Settings – Wireless Off – Apply 7. Top Menu – Firewall Settings – Side Menu – General – Minimum – Apply
    8. Top Menu – My Network – Side Menu – Network Connections – Advanced 9. Top Menu – My Network – Side Menu – Network Connections – Broadband (Coax) – Settings – Release – Apply
*NOTE*: If your IP address is not released properly you will need to wait 2 hours for your lease to expire or you’ll need to call Verizon Tech and get them to restart your system.
    10. Broadband (Coax) – Settings – IP Distribution – Disable – Apply 11. Broadband (Coax) – Settings – DNS Server – No DNS Server – Apply 12. Broadband (Coax) – Settings – IP Address – No IP Address – Apply
    13. Top Menu – My Network – Side Menu – Network Connections – Network (Home/Office) – Settings – IP Distribution – Disable – Apply 14. Network (Home/Office) – Settings – DNS Server – No DNS Server – Apply 15. Network (Home/Office) – Settings – UNcheck Box to Left of Wireless – Apply
*NOTE*: The old guide will tell you to uncheck the box to the left of “Coax” here. Unfortunately, in the Rev. I, Ethernet and Coax are stuck together as “Ethernet/Coax” and you can’t split the two. If you uncheck the box to the left of “Ethernet/Coax”, you will lose connection with the Actiontec Router and you will be forced to hard reset and start all over again.
    16. Network (Home/Office) – Settings – Check Box to Left of Broadband (Coax) – Apply 17. Network (Home/Office) – Settings – Check STP Box to Right of Broadband(Coax) – Apply The Quantum Gateway didn't have an STP box to uncheck. I ignored this step with no adverse effects. 18. Network (Home/Office) – Settings – Network – Broadband Connection – Apply
    19. Top Menu – Advanced – MAC Cloning – Set Mac of Device – Broadband (Coax) Using the information you gathered at the beginning: a. Set the WAN MAC of your selected Router to the MAC address listed here. b. Set the Address here to the WAN MAC of your selected router that will be connected to the Actiontec to avoid conflicts.
    20. Plug the cable from Actiontec LAN Port 1 to your Routers WAN Port. Your router should be getting a WAN IP from Verizon. Test to make sure your WAN is established and that you can connect onto the internet, browse pages. Run a speed test to make sure everything is peachy.
*NOTE*: If your router did not get a WAN IP, you have a problem. I would recommend trying to re-trace your steps to see if you missed anything or just start all over and hard reset. :\
    21. If everything worked out fine, connect a cable from your Router’s LAN Port 4 to the Actiontec LAN port 4. Again, I was using Port 1. But it shouldn't matter. I haven't tried other ports.
    22. Power cycle your STB if you wish. You should see your STB show up in your DHCP list and it should be getting VOD/Widgets. This wasn't neccessary for me as I don't use Verizion TV service. Your millage may very. -V

NOTE: about bridging the Quantum Gateway G1100 Information about this is in DSLReports.com - Verizon FiOS FAQ.  SEE: Verizon Online FiOS FAQ -> 3.2 Moca -> Can I get an ethernet connection in a room with only coax? There is a list of instructions for bridging routers, but the Verizon Quantum Gateway is not included there. Follow down the instructions and at step 2.5 here is added information that is not in the FAQ yet.
    Instruction 2.5...
2.5a) The Verizon Quantum Gateway G1100 is slightly different from the Actiontec MI424wr. If your primary router's broadband connection is provisioned over coax, you need to disable the remote router's coax WAN connection to prevent it from attempting to become the primary router. If your broadband connection from the ONT to your primary router is ethernet, this step may be unnecessary.
Click on the MY NETWORK icon at the top.
Select NETWORK CONNECTIONS from the menu on the left.
If you’re using the Verizon Quantum Gateway G1100 as the remote router the Network Connections panel will show Broadband Connection (Ethernet/Coax) instead of Broadband Connection (coax).
    Click on Broadband Connection (Ethernet/Coax)
The next panel displays Broadband Connection (Ethernet/Coax) Properties as its title. There is a Disable button at the top of the panel. There is also a Settings button at the bottom of the panel. You will come back to the Disable button.
    Click on the Settings button.
The next panel displays the same title as the prior panel: Broadband Connection (Ethernet/Coax) Properties
In the middle of the panel next to the heading Enable/Disable Coax Link: there is a button labeled Disable.
    Click on Disable.
Click on the Apply button at the bottom of the panel.
You will be taken to the Broadband Connection (Ethernet/Coax) Properties panel that you saw before.
At the top of this screen there is a button labeled Disable
    Click on Disable
Click on the Apply button at the bottom of the screen.

  • Fpga using the clock of the CRIO chassis...

    Hi.
I am designing an application to acquire data using FPGA. I am using an CRIO-9074.  First at all, I want that the stamp of time for the records COME FROM THE CLOCK OF THE CHASSIS and not from the PC's one, because when the application be finished, the CRIO is going to connect directly to a network, without using a pc.  I would like to use the Time Stamp Control. ¿How can I codify this?
    Thank you for your time.

When you use the standard LabVIEW date/time functions in code that is running on the cRIO, you get the time based on the cRIO's clock.

  • Are the Oracle Transparent Gateways SAP approved

Gentlemen: Thanks in advance for your reply. I am new on this gateway world and I am trying to find the best solution for us.
Situation ... DB Migration of SAP 4.5B from MSSQL to Oracle8 in Sun Solaris (No problem with this).
We run a VB application that connects to SAP using SAPComm to read from SAP and update, asl well.
Problem: We will do the migration but the developer of the application in VB may not be open to change their coding, and we found the option of replicating db tables from Oracle to MSSQL, once we migrate, with the Oracle Gateway, which produce something transparent to the VB application.
    Questions:
    1. Does SAP approve this kind of accesses/replications to their DBs without us affecting our license agreement with them? I should ask this question to SAP, but if you know already, that will defenitely help?
    2. I understand this tool (Oracle Transparent Gateway) is available as of Oracle9i. Our migrated SAP system will be running on Oracle8, but it is my understanding it does not matter the version of Oracle we are running our db, because what we procure is the Oracle9i to be installed separately to interact with both SAP (Oracle8) and MSSQL. Is that right? Could I build that scenario? If yes, how much is for the Oracle9i license. Should acquire it through SAP (I guess not)?
    Thanks,
    Juan-Carlos

You can use Oracle Streams to replicate from Oracle to SQL Server. This is a feature of Oracle 9.2.
This feature uses the Oracle Transparent Gateway for SQL Server to communicate between Oracle and SQL Server.
This is licensed separately from the database. Oracle 8 can communicate with Oracle 9i using DB links.
You can purchase a license for the each of these products at http://oraclestore.oracle.com/

  • How to reboot RT programatically without using the VI

I have a bunch of PXI RT systems deployed. We setup an IVI looking interface for our client monitor systems to the PXI RT systems, this is over enet.  Other than snooping the network activity, can anyone provide the command structure needed to send the reboot command to the RT systems?  We can NOT use the included labview VI because some of our clients are running VxWorks.
    Thanks!

    Hello JFTICH,
For any PXI Real-Time systems that have LabVIEW Real-Time, the VI you spoke of will definately work.  It sends the command to the specified PXI systems.  After looking at the VI, I see that it is locked.  The way that it creates this functionality is protected for some reason.  Perhaps you could contact National Instruments Support for some more information regarding its method of operation.

    Prasun,
If the HP Gateway has a VISA interface, i.e. you can interact with it through
VISA calls then you should be able to use it in LabVIEW after installing
HP-VISA. I've never tried it but it might be worth looking into.

  • How to call an ebs  web service using the soa gateway

    Hi All,
I installed Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12.1.1 Media Pack v4 (32bit) and now I wanna use the soa gateway to develop and integration and consume web services. I found the soa gateway/irep and I can browse through the existing services. But how can I call one e. g. using .NET?
For .NET, I need an valid address (URL) to the services. How can I get such an URL.
    Example:
I opened the integration repository, browsed to:
Order Management Suite - Order Management - Sales Order - INBOUND: Change Purchase Order XML Transaction.
I cannot find an address at this page which can be used in MS Dev Studio to call the service.
If I click on "Generate WSDL" or try to open the WSDL under the "Web Service - Web Service Provider" section, I get an error message:

What exactly does this error mean?
    Many thanks,

You have to make sure every step in MOS Document ID 726414.1 that is applicable to your E-Business Suite 12.1.x release is performed. Enabling ASADMIN is just one of the steps. In spite of following all the steps in this Document you continue to get the error when clicking "Generate WSDL", please log a Service Request with Oracle Support.I will check all steps again. Maybe I missed one... Thanks!

  • How do I use the a command from a .dll with labview?

I want to use for example the M8784Open() command to control an M8784
photon counter.  I know how to place a call library function node
but don't know where to go there. The user manual for the photon
counter has the following explanation of the M8784Open() command but I
don't know how to use their advice in labview!
    7-3-1 M8784Open( )
    Declaration HANDLE M8784Open( BYTE Board );
    Parameter
    BYTE Board
Specify the board to be used: M8784_MASTER or M8784_SLAVE. Specify both
when making 2-channel measurements simultaneously. It is not possible
    to specify M8784_SLAVE only.
Return value A handle for the M8784 is returned when the function has succeeded..
INVALID_HANDLE_VALUE is returned if the function has failed..
Explanation Calls a handle to allow the M8784API.dll to use the M8784.sys driver.
Hereafter, specify this API’s return value (handle) when using other APIs.
When quitting M8784 operation, call up M8784Close( ) to cancel the driver.

You need to find out the equivalent number of the parameter. Somewhere in your documentation, or inside a file (for example, a header .h file in C/C++) you will find the definitions of each parameter.
For example, M8784_MASTER may have the value 1 and M8784_SLAVE the value of 2. You already know that it is a BYTE, so it will be a number of type U8 in LabVIEW. You need to find the exact values.
Probably, by value "A" it means the hex number "A", which is 10 in decimal. You need to find that in your documentation.
You also need to find the type HANDLE. It can be a BYTE, etc. Once you know that, find the value of INVALID_HANDLE_VALUE, so you can test for the error.
Most of this information can be found in the document Using External Code in LabVIEW. Check your help file, or check this link.

  • How to distribute the serial core only with my exe and DLL application using the Labview application builder 8.21. I'm not interested having MAX and other components installed on the customer PC and in the program menu

Since Labview ver 8.0 and later, I am not very happy with the new way the project installer is managing the additional drivers such as Serial.
With LV 7.11 the serial components was included in the cab file and was installed on the target computer in a specific directory. The size of the distribution was pretty small and well suited for compact distribution.
My LV application use only the serial object and with LV 8.21, if I include the serial 3.2 component, I get an enormus file including max, visa ... and a lot of fucky component I do not need.
To distribute my application, I just need, the runtime engine and the serial driver as it was with the version 7.XX
Looking for clever advises from you gentlemen!

    Thanks Dennis for you input
My problem is in fact very simple. 3 years ago, I developped a software suite for X ray generator; My company is selling such generator all over the world and our control panel software and DLL (for OEM integrator) is based on Labview professionnal development plateform.
To drive our generator, we just need to transfer ascii data using the strandard RS232 port still present on most of equipments used in the industrial area.
Until LV version 7.11, there was no problem to include serial component in my distribution with a very reasonable size and transparency for the end user.
with LV 8.xx (preparing a new release), I'm very disapointed to see, my distribution is increased of about for 10 Mo to 180 Mo just because I increase the serial component.
May I mix a previous version of the serial component with LV 8.21?
Should I change my source to Visa instruction only and merge visa runtime only to my distribution?
is there any simple serial example based on visa and distributed with th application builder?

  • I try to convert LAbview 2.2 VI to Labview 3.1 for MAc using the conversion Kit. Labview 3.1 mass compile cannot find several VI like "open file, open folder, wait(ms), al_config"e.t.c. How can I manage this problem?

It looks like Labview 3.1 has different names for these VI.

It has been a very long time since I worked with such an old version but version 3 was a major upgrade that made the MAC and Windows versions much more compatible. One of the changes was to make the VI names the same on both platforms and another was to make the locations the same (i.e. the name of the llb that the functions were stored in. You should be able to find the equivalent functions in 3.1. Open the app in 3.1 and when prompted to find a VI, browse around until you find it. If you have a list of the VIs that couldn't be found, before opening the old app, create a new VI. Use the palette to find the functions and place them on the diagram. Then, when you open the old VI, those functions with the same name will get replaced by the new ones. For ones w
hose name changed, you'll have to manually replace those one by one. I also seem to remember a compatibility llb that was available back then. It was a set of VIs that was not part of version 3. I have no clue as to whether it's still available from NI and whether it included everything you might need. The good news is that once you're past this conversion, upgrading becomes a lot easier.
