Using 'To Do' option of iPOD nano

In iPOD, extras>calender I can see a menu item called "To Do". I am using Win XP and have updated both my iTUNES and iPOD to the latest software. I could effectively sync my Microsoft Outlook calender and contacts with iPOD, but I have no idea how to input entries to the To Do panel of my iPOD. I couldn't find relevant info anywhere in Internet, except that using iCal and iSync, I can do this task, but those softwares require Mac OS. Kindly give me some insights.

I heard people here talking about -50 error, but i am un aware of that. Let me explain my outsights.
One option is to export the contact list of your MS Outlook as a .csv file. Now open Outlook express, import this .csv file. You will now have all your MS Outlook contacts intact in Outlook Express. Now in iTUNES>iPOD Preferences, select the option "Outlook Express" to sync contact option with the iPOD.
Microsoft Outlook's default desktop icon has somany added functionalities, so deleting this icon from your desktop is not advisable. When you try to sync, open both iTUNES and MS Outlook. Let me know whether this solves your problem.

  • No Auto-Lock Option on iPod Nano 6th Generation

Hey I just got a new iPOd Nano and I was looking forward to using not just as a music player but as a watch. So I got the armband and on my first day using it as a watch, it wouldn't stop turning off. I looked in settings and there wasn't an auto-lock feature/setting like there is on my iPod Touch. Does anybody knoww how to fix this and prevent it from turning off? Thanks.

It may not have that option.  Since the video display (on ALL iPods) depletes the battery much more quickly than playing music does, if you were to have the video clock on display all the time, you would completely deplete the battery in only a few hours.

  • Using another computer to sync iPod nano

My grandson has an iPod and subscribes to iTunes. My question is: If I connect to his computer will it automatically download all from his iPod library on to my iPod Nano. Or can I set up my own Itunes as a separate account on his computer. Hope this makes sense.
Be grateful for a quick response. By the way I am living in the UK and he is in Australia where I shall be on holiday soon.
    Thanks

If you want to connect and use an iPod on more than one computer or with more than one library you need to change the update preference in the iPod Summary tab to "Manually manage music and videos" and click Apply. The content of iTunes and the iPod are not syncronised in this mode so the two can be different:
    Using iPod with Multiple computers
    Managing content manually on iPod
    Syncing Music to iPod
Something else to be aware of when using an iPod in manual mode is that the "Do Not Disconnect" message will remain on the display until you physically eject the device: Safely Disconnect IPod

  • Error Message for Videos when using 2 computers and 1 iPod Nano 5th Gen

I have a 5th Gen iPod Nano and a PC (XP) and Laptop (Vista). I store my free digital copies of movies on the Laptop and all other media on the PC. I have both computers set to share iTunes libraries. When I tried to sync some TV shows from the PC to the Nano I got this error message: The iPod "xxxx" is currently linked to another iTunes library on the computer "xxxx". In order to copy the TV Show "xxxx" to this iPod you must link this iPod with this iTunes library. Doing so will remove 3 movies including 'xxxx' from this iPod.
Questions: 1)Why only videos and not music or podcasts? No problems with any other syncing and don't lose my music from the PC when I sync movies from the laptop. 2)Is there a fix for this?
I was able to do a work-around by copying the TV shows to a USB memory device and then transfering them to the iTunes on the laptop. I could then sync both the movies and the TV shows to the Nano.
I'm new at this iPod stuff and would appreciate your input.
    Thanks.

Does this problematic song play okay in iTunes?  Have you tried removing and resyncing it to your device via iTunes?

  • ITunes U and Playlist option in iPod Nano

This is another question about my iPod nano, I was try to solved my Audiobooks problem (http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2361715&tstart=15) by change Media Kind into iTunes U. And the happy news is, I can browse my Audiobooks collection in each books/album on iTunes U. But new problem has come. The problem I got is, I can't continues play my entire books. Example, if I have books A with 5 tracks, when I choose play track 1, after track 1 completed, iTunes U doesn't go to next track (Track 2) but iTunes U play again Track 1. This is weird problem that I got. Can anybody show me how to fix it? to make my iPod Nano play to the next track.
    Any feedback are appreciated

Unfortunately, iPods and iPhones don't currently support syncing PDFs from iTunes U.
However, one possible solution could be to install one of the various iPod touch apps that can sync files to the iPod. You could then manually copy the PDFs from the iTunes Media folder into that app, which should allow you to read them on the iPod.

  • HELP, I USED LINUX AND NOW MY IPOD NANO IS MESSED UP!!

I downloaded Linux for my Nano, but now I can do anything, all I get is a folder with a "!" on the folder, please help!

I think I figured out how to put your Ipod back into working condition, to the way you received, sort of in a "like new state" if you will. What I have just found on the Ipod linux forums is very easy, in fact alot easier than I thought, you would of had to use the HP disk format utility, but all you have to do is go ahead and use apple's firmware for the ipod, in case you don't know what that is, it's the software that apple releases which is basically in a pc user's words "the BIOS that controls your Ipod functions, such as backlight brightness, font type, etc. It's basically the Operating System". That's to put it into a easy understandable way. If all you are seeing on your nano is just an exclamtion point then you are in luck, all you do is restore your Ipod using the Apple Ipod updater, that is if your pc can detect your Ipod. Which I think if it didn't you would have posted that. So there you have it, your Ipod should be running as it once did, before a failed linux installation.

  • Using iTunes @ work with my iPod nano

I have plugged my iPod in and am using it as a device, but the shuffle and repeat features will not work. I can only play one song at a time. Additionally, only the "play" button works, the skip forward and replay last song buttons don't work....
    Can anyone help?
My old mini did not have the problem.... I don't think

I think you should try installing the software from the website:
    iTunes - http://www.apple.com/itunes/download
    iPod Updater - http://www.apple.com/ipod/download
    Try downloading/installing both of those.
Also, the website for a repair would be: http://depot.info.apple.com/ipod but I wouldn't recommend going there for a replacement unless you know that there is a problem with the iPod, but it seems like an issue with the computer itself (or there software on the computer).
You could also, if my two websites didn't help you, try phoning the Apple tech support - 1-800-275-2273

  • HT1495 I use method 3 to sync my iPad to my desktop which is used to sync my iPod nano. After I done all the steps, how will I sync the separate library to my iPad? I don't see any sync option and don't even see my iPad on the device.

My iPad is registered in a different account.im having difficulty installing iTunes on my laptop so when I read that multiple iPod,iPad etc can be sync in one computer,I tried making a separate library on my desktop which have an iTunes already.i used my desktop for my iPod nano. After following the instructions, I don't know how to sync it with my iPad now connected on my desktop.i can't see a button or option to sync. And I don't even see my iPad recognize on the device.pls tell me what am I missing. I already sign in so my desktop will be authorize.

All devices only sync what you select to sync.
If you do not want all of the music, then simply do not select all of the music to sync.

  • How to use Windows formatted iPod nano to move music to a new Mac?

    Hi all,
I need to transfer my iPhone's musics, songs, apps and photo, etc to the Mac and I came across this http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1329" guide at Apple Support site since I owned a iPod nano.
My questions is since my iPod nano is configured for Windows will the Mac be able to read it since it's stated clearly in the guide "While a Windows formatted iPod may work on a Mac, Apple supports this configuration only with iPod shuffle."
If I follow through the guide, 1. Switch the iPod to manual update and enable disk use, 2. Locating and consolidating the iTunes Media folder, 3. Copy iTunes folder to iPod. I will still need to restore the iPod to work in Mac and end up nothing left inside meaning songs, photo all erased.
Also, anyone using third party software like http://www.fadingred.com/senuti/ Can advise if it's good to use this? And if iPod nano configured for Windows can works with this?
Need other more solution other this to transfer the mentioned data to Mac.
    Thanks.

iPhone… iPod… iPod Nano… which one it is? You are trying to transfer music from what source, using what medium, and to what target?
    I came across this http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1329"
it's stated clearly in the guide "While a Windows formatted iPod may work on a Mac, Apple supports this configuration only with iPod shuffle."
Where exactly is this stated? I am unable to find this statement in the KB article you mentioned. And are you talking iPhone or iPod? This KB article applies only to iPod.

  • Can an old iPod classic charger brick be used with new iPod nano?

I have an Apple  ModelA1102 W005A050 wall charger. I came with the iPod I purchased in 2005.

Yes so long as it has a USB connection on it.

  • IPod Nano 4Gb (2nd Gen) not detected by Windows or iTunes

I am hoping someone can help me with this as I am at my wits end.
When I plug my iPod into the usb port, it begins the charging process, but neither windows, nor iTunes will detect any new devices. I have tried the 4 R's (the fifth needs a connection with iTunes), putting it into disc mode, and even on 3 different windows computers, but no dice. To save the no doubt normal questions, The usb ports are 2.0, and brand spanking new, which i have tested sucessfully with other usb devices, so I know it's not the usb port. I have the latest drivers & updates installed, and the latest version of iTunes also installed.
    Other potentially useful info:
The model is iPod nano 4bg alu 2nd gen
It's not new, i was given it as a gift by a friend who upgraded to the video model.
Though I can't be sure, I suspect that the dock cable isn't an apple product. Given that *very few* places where I live sell official iPod accessories, it is difficult for me to check.
Like I said, i really hope someone can help me, I really don't know how long i can go listening to my friends rather dubious music tastes...

  • IPod Nano Video with Windows Movie Maker

I found this page by Apple that explains how to use video from the 5G iPod Nano, http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3837
But, I cannot find Windows Movie Maker V2.5, and V2.1 with Windows XP will not import the video from the iPod Nano. Anybody have any ideas on how to solve this? (Besides buying a Mac...)
Also, Windows Media Player 11 will not play the video created with the 5G iPod Nano either.

You can use the AVS Video Editing software to import MPEG-4 Movie files in the same way you'd import .avi files into Windows Movie Maker. Also, the AVS Video Editor will allow you to import iTunes .mp4 audio files and incorporate them into your soundtrack. If you still want to use Windows Movie Maker for your video editing you can also use video conversion software from the same company, i.e. AVS Video Converter 6, to convert from MPEG-4 into .avi or .wmv format. I've found converting to .wmv to be considerably slower than converting to .avi though. Here's a link to the AVS video software offerings below. BTW, the AVS Video Editor can be used for free, while there's a charge for the Converter.
    * As always, exercise caution when using Shareware. So far my own experience has been good.

  • Low volume on Ipod Nano when playing through car stereo

I used to own a 4 gig ipod mini, and I'd connect it to my car stereo via a stereo cassette adapter. Well, that little guy crashed after a few years of good hard use, and I bought an Ipod Nano. Only, when I play the Nano through my car stereo, the volume is really low. Is there any way to fix this? I'm thinking maybe the Nano doesn't have the same amplification as the mini, and that's why the volume is low, in which case there's going to be no way to play it through the car stereo. I've tried two different stereo cassette adapters so I know that's not the problem. Anyone have any clarifying thought on this? Please help. David

I use a cassette adapter in the car as well, and also have to adjust the voume on the stereo and the ipod to a higher setting than what I would when listening to a cassette or CD. I've used this adapter with another brand of MP3 player before I got my nano and it was the same as the nano in regards to having to turn up the volume.
In using the adapter in different cars, I've noticed that on some cassette players, I have to swith the auto reverse from say, tape A to tape B in order to get sound out of the adapter. You may want to check the auto reverse settings on your cassette deck, if you haven't already.
