Using user information from web site

Hi All,
OK, once again I need to build something more then I can
handle.
A user will log on to a website. In this website (Lotus
Domino powered) I know a lot about that user. His name, type etc.
I would like to use that information in Captivate. As a
stupid example, say "Hi Dave" when he starts.
On a more complex level, I want to be able to store where he
has been and resume from there, or according to the type of user,
start a different training.
Is there a way to pull this info into Captivate? I think it
is only possible using Javascript, right?
Hmm, maybe I should build a Lotus Domino toolbox for
Captivate, any takers?
Please let me know if what I want to do is possible?

Sorry. What you really need is an API for communicating with
Captivate, and the option for variable-populated fields. Adobe has
provided neither.
You're on the right track about communicating with Captivate
via Javascript, but "receptacles" for holding the data you send it
would have to be constructed in Flash...and then you'll have to
divine a way to discover the name of your Flash variable/field once
it's been embedded into Captivate. None of it's impossible, but it
often requires a GREAT deal of time to work out.
As for storing where the user has been, such things are
typically handled via a Learning Management System (LMS) -- which
is of course a database application that launches and communicates
with a course...even a Captivate course. An LMS gives you the
option of communicating with the course via the AICC or SCORM
protocols. While I'm no Domino expert, it's probably safe to assume
that your database environment isn't going to be able to provide
either protocol.
It's not too hard to get information out of Captivate one way
or another, but getting information back into it is another matter.
If you have skills with Flash, you might consider building a
wrapper environment that can do some of what you need -- you could
play your Captivate files within that wrapper, and could use it to
figure out where Captivate has been, and then pass that to Domino
using your own techniques.

For the ones not working, try them in another MP3 player, such as Windows Media Player or Winamp, just to make sure they are valid music files.
If they play there, but not in iTunes, treat them with a 3rd party tag cleanup program such as MP3 Validator. That generally solves the iTunes incompatibility problem.

Using AMP to download and save FLV files from web sites?

I thought I had heard months ago that this new media player was going to allow you to download and save the FLV files from web sites like YouTube and others, where a direct download while possible, isn't the easiest thing to currently do. But I don't really see any way in this new media player to download and save files from web sites....it's plenty willing to play them if they're already saved on your hard drive, but I thought one of the reasons for Adobe building this was to make it easier to get them in the first place?

I'd have to agree. This is one of the most useless products I have seen from a company of this standard. Why they continue to provide this product as an example of what can be done with AIR, is bewildering. Myself and others have posted over and over again that the player deletes the saved movies at some random time, an hour or two hours after they appear to be saved.
What is the point of having a 'saved' icon the CD ICON if that movie will be deleted FOR NO BLOODY reason. I just wasted 400 mb of my quota dowloading moves 3 times...!! just to realise that the application deletes them from the VERY CACHE that it copies them to.
Adobe, if this is what I can expect while trying to view the tutorials for FLEX what will the development experience be like. Myself and others are fed up with posting this bug to Adobe, just to be ignored. How much stress to do you want on your servers before you WAKE UP.
I have been in 4 meetings over the last 2 weeks and everyone has remarked about the 'experience' trying to view these tutorials.
Wake up to yourself. If you want to charge $500 for FLEX then atleast fix this crappy player.
PS. I note that this player is supposedly built with Flex and that the list control truncates rather than wraps, in addition, no 'tool tips', dates are not localised, the video keeps unpausing itself each time I return from the downloads page, no settings for where files should be cached. Occasionally the underlining (grey) window bar appears over the top of the flash window edge. I've used the application for an hour or so...
Where is the alternative... I'll be glad when Adobe get some real competition.. so that they pay attention to input. A big wastefull site if all support does is read and ignore posts.!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am running 10.6.8 and using iweb for my web site. After several SEO analysis they all indicate I need H1-6 header tags. After looking at the source code I see there are none in iweb. Is it necessary to add? If so, how do I add H Tags to iweb.

Is traditionally represented by html tags like:

I would guess that the use of h1-h6 tags helps search engines to understand the structure of a page as the tags imply a certain structure.
This can be compared to more generic tags like <div> that could represent any kind of content - and may be what iWeb uses (you'll have to check yourself).
I would generally recommend that you use some kind of up to date blog/site building tool, perhaps Wordpress or Squarespace (I haven't used either one myself) that support current web technologies - this should reduce your SEO issues and make it easier to properly support mobile/tablet users.

My wireless HP Deskjet 3050 printer will not print from web sites.

My HP Deskjet 3050 J610 printer will not print from web sites - it prints ok from WORD, etc. I keep getting the error message: "An unknown error occurred while printing." This problem only arises with Firefox browser.
The printer is connected wirelessly to a network and this occurs when I use a laptop on the network. It is also connected via cable to a desktop computer but there is no problem in printing from the desktop.
Any assistance would be appreciated.

That sounds as if you need to investigate to see if you were able to clear all of the paper that was causing the jam.

Print multiple pdf from web site

I need print multiple pdf from web site (web page) to the local printer o client printer.
I have investigated : cfexecuted, java code, javascript, but i can't do it.
The idea is don´t open printer dialog box for to print.

It is NOT POSSIBLE (for security reasons) to do silent printing in this way. (you wouldn't want to visit a web site and have your printer start spewing out page after page of profanity, would you??)
You can, however, offer the user the choice to print and then have it print. That can easily be done by embedding JavaScript into the PDF to be printed. If you have multiple documents, you should merge them together on the server first and then send a single document.

Can the WLPI be used for a perl web site

We have a client, which has a perl(Apache/mod_perl) based web site. Cutomers submit orders on the web site and right now there is an order-processing system, but the client is looking for workflow/process product which will ease with all this order processing stuff like acknowledgement, approval, shipping, etc....So my question here is, can they use the WeBLogic Process Integrator for this purpose? The reason I am asking this is, looking at the WLPI docs, it looks like a Java/WebLogic only product and cannot be used for a perl web site.Thanks,Shireesh Thanneru

However I would not recommend it, at least as your primary connection for the SmartTV. Relying primarily on VZW data plans is a bad way to view video services such as Netflix at the moment. It is very easy to chew through your plan with only a few videos depending on the resolution and a few other factors. Not only that but a smart TV may be periodically checking the internet from time to time to download firmware updates or provide reporting stats to the manufacturer.
VZW Jetpacks continue to be a poor choice for home primary internet replacement. The data plans that come from VZW and all other metered wireless providers are not friendly to this kind of internet traffic. Letting your guard down for a moment could result in costly overages and once you accumulate them you will be liable to pay them. A normal cable or DSL line with a high/unlimited cap would be more appropriate.
If the Jetpack is a backup or temporary internet connection then go for it. This is what a Jetpack is designed for, you can get by every now and then without too much risk. Just make sure you are powering your Jetpack down as soon as you are done streaming and keep a close eye on your data plan before and after any major viewing.

When my wife updated Firefox to version 7.0.1 she was no longer able to print items from the web such as coupons. She can print from her email (Cox) account.
She is running Vista.
When I updated to Firefox 7.0.1, I did not have a problem. I am running Vista also.
Tried using the Firefox help page but no help so far.
I did notice that on her computer in the "Plugins" for Firefox that HP Smart Web Printing is now disabled and is not compatible with Firefox 7.0.1. She had no problems until she did the update.

OMG, mutt is flying right now! Even with header and message cache is mutt + imap not the fastest. I reccomend offlineimap for everyone.

I also started having this problem after getting my TX hooked up through my home network. I had to set up a wireless access point with only WPA security to get around having to change the WPA2 security on all my other equipment. I applied the ESU upgrade, but that didn't seem to help with WPA2 Personal. Previously, I could get at least half of the pages to come up through the open hotspot in the lobby of our building at work, but I haven't tried that since I applied the ESU upgrade this morning.
I can get to the internet through the access point using a laptop, and I can see the IP address of the Palm coming through the access point on the router's admin page, and the DNS addresses of the PC and the Palm are the same. So I think I'm through, but every page I try gets the 'Page not available' message, even if I enter the IP address of the page rather than the URL.
Is there any other method of debugging available to see if the page is really coming back and locking up Blazer, or whether it's really not coming back at all? Or any other suggestions?
Personally, I sort of liked the old Internet Explorer that counted off how many K were coming through as the page was being loaded. At least you could tell something was happening.

Obtaining SAP User information from J2EE Application

Hi All,
I am using SAP NetWeaver Developer Studio to create a J2EE Application, which requires accessing user information from SAP coming from Windows Active Directory.
My question is as follows;
Is there a possibility in a J2EE application to use an API to obtain user information (ie. from com.sap.security.api.jar) just like in a regular WebDyn Pro Application?
For Archive Build Info (compile time), do I need to import specific JARs? For runtime, do I need to load any project reference?

Unable to edit user information from User Admin applet

I'm unable to update user information from user admin applet. After selecting a particular user, i'm updating his full name and trying to save the details. When i click on save i'm getting below error
"Unable to execute service EDIT_USER and function addUserAttributes",(System Error: Unable to execute query 'uUsersClassifiedMarkings(UPDATE Users SET uClassifiedMarkings='No Markings'WHERE(uClassifiedMarkings is null OR uClassifiedMarkings="))'.ORA-00904:"UCLASSIFIEDMARKINGS":invalid Identifier java.sql.SQLSyntaxException: ORA-00904:"UCLASSIFIEDMARKINGS": invalid identifier)

Ok,lets give it a shot. Can you please check if you have any Security Classifications added by navigating to Records->Configure->Security->Security Classification
If you do not see any entries here, then use the Add button to add the following
- No Markings
- Secret
- Top Secret
- Confidential
Now try to update the user info using the admin applet. In the edit window assign Security Classification to "No Markings" and try submitting the update. Let us know what is the outcome.
I completely agree with William on his analysis. Please try these steps if you are working on a Dev/POC instance.

Could not load servlet information from web server

I am trying to register a servlet through the web object manager.
As soon as click the web object manager menu pick I get the following
error: Could not load servlet information from web server.
On other peoples machines here it works fine and they can register
servlets. What am I missing!

You must be using Jdev 3.2.x, this is a known bug. In Jdev 9.0.2 we use the standard J2EE web.xml in order to register servlets. You should consider moving to the new IDE.

Sharepoint 2010 get User Groups from specific site

I was able to get all User groups from entire site Collection.
But instead of getting user groups from entire site, I want read user groups only from one specified sub site.

Assuming you have an SPWeb object named "web", example:

SPWeb web = site.OpenWeb("mysubsite/subsbusite");
web.Groups will return a collection of SPGroup objects for the current subsite. If this subsite inherits permissions from a parent site (web.HasUniquePerm = False), the list is the same as the Groups property of the parent site.
