Using Variables in Multiple slides

I am using a text entry box to record information.
I want the user to repeat that information in a future slide to get a match. I have created the action script for that.
On the second slide however, I would like the user to be able to view what they typed in the first tex entry box without returning to that slide. Like a hint.
Is their way to do that?

Perhaps you know that each TEB has an associated variable (better give it a more signicant name than the default one). I could offer you a workaround to show the value of this variable, but think that the most simple solution is to get a copy of the enhanced TEB, a widget created by Jim Leichliter, AKA CaptivatePro. Using Guides for multiple Slides

Hello there,
my problem is as follows:
I want to be able to use Guides in Keynote for multiple slides. In other words: once I set up guides for one slide, I then also want to see those guides when switching to the next slide.
Why do I want to do that? Once I find a nice layout which I want to use throughout my presentation, eg. always a picture at a certain position, I want to use the guides to then help me to align pictures on all the other slides at the same position

I think I've got it, the issue you have has been driving me nuts and I have tried all sorts (incl. the work-around as suggested by Gillian).
What I have discovered is that the guides placed on the master are on the slides – it's just they are not visible!!! You will see that when you move an object on the slide it will snap to a guide that you have placed on the master. Quite clever in a way but not practical in another way, so the work-around might still be a good way to help visually.
I'm aware this is not a great help, but at least it explains how the guides work.
Hopefully in the next release we will have guides that work like indesign!

Copy using Variables with multiple single values in BEX

I have a requirement wherein on executing the planning function, the system should take the FROM and TO values of 0FISCPER and copy the data accordingly.
Source variable is 'Single Value'.
Target variable is 'Multiple Single Value'.
I tried to give the Command Range as below:
$A$30:$C$31.
The button sequence is as below:
VAR_NAME_1      0         ZFISCPER
VAR_VALUE_1     0
VAR_NAME_2      1         ZFISCPER_M
VAR_VALUE_2     1
In the Analyzer, I entered the values as
In A30, VAR_NAME_1     0     =C20
In A31, VAR_NAME_2     1     =C21:C24
The values that I entered are as below:
C20 =   2007001 - Source value
C21 =   2007002 - Target values
C22 =   2007003
C23 =   2007004
C24 =   2007005.
The problem that Im facing is the system is unable to identify the multiple values that I enter for Target Fiscper and it displays as :#VALUE!
How to enter multiple single values and reference them accordingly?

When I tried to execute the planning function, the system copies the data from version 000 to ALL versions irrespective of values entered above.ie:

Using variables across multiple pages...

Hello all,
I may have forgotten something very basic in my time away from php and MySQL, so please keep that in mind when reading this question.
I have a page that has 5 links on it. Selecting one of the links would open a new page, which makes an SQL query to summon data specific to the link that was chosen.
Instead of creating 5 succeeding pages, one for each link, I'd like to use one page. Based on the variable generated/created/assigned when a given link on the previous page is selected (for simplicity, clicking the first link would generate a 1...clicking the fifth link would generate a 5) the query will look for specific data in the database, likely this will be accomplished by making 5 seperate includes files with specific commands or array structures to acheive this. Simplicity.
Simplicity except I'm not yet certain as to how this is accomplished.
Here's where someone's going to throw the book at my head...can I generate a variable that can be stored for use on another page?
I never ask easy questions...sorry about that.

Using variables with lightboxes...

Hi all,
I am currently creating a scenario with two lightboxes. When you click a button the lightboxes will appear. When you click the 'x' button on both of the lightboxes, a button will appear, allowing the user to go onto the next slide. However, I have been unable to achieve this effect.
I have been able to use variables across different slides, but not on the same slide. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Create a counter variable that you assign the value 0. Maybe it is even better to assign that value not in the definition but On Enter for the slide. For the moment you have two actions, those will have to be turned into conditional advanced actions with two decisions. Something like this:
First decision 'Always'
IF 1 is equal to 1      this is a mimicked standard action
   Show lightbox 1
   Increment v_counter
Second decision 'Checkit'
IF v_counter is equal to 2
   Show Gr_Buttons
I used a group, didn't want to type too much, you can group the 3 buttons.

Report script - using substitution variable with multiple values

Hi All,
Substitution variable with multiple values is not working correctly with Report scripts. Can you please let me know what is the syntax to assign multiple values to a sub variable using maxl:
alter database samp.samp set variable 'ExtractQuarter' 'Q1,Q2,Q3,Q4';
alter database Samp.Samp set variable 'ExtractQuarter' 'Q1:Q4';
I tried both of the above but they are errored out with the below error:
Error: 1001005 - Unknown Member [Q1:Q4] in Report.
my requirement is different for both Actual and forecast data extract so i would like to make use of this variable to extract whole year data for Forecast and current quarter data for Actual with out duplicating the report scripts for both processes.

Using variables for answers to fill-in-the-blank questions

For fill-in-the-blank questions, one has to provide answers. I want to provide these in the form of (user-created) variables, rather than in the form of fixed strings of characters (so then, as $$var1$$ rather than as 'rabbit'). I haven't been able to get this to work. The enter variable function is indeed available (in the properties panel), but it doesn't actually work (i.e. even if you select a variable to be entered, it doesn't actually get entered).
Is there a way around the problem?
1. NB that this same issue holds for text entry boxes (rather than fill-in-the-blank questions). If I could get this to work for text entry boxes, I would use them rather than fill-in-the-blank questions.
2. One can use variables for answers to multiple choice questions. So I'm hoping I can get it to work for fill-in-the-blank questions as well.

That would have been my suggestion. I don't have a dedicated blog post, but use TEB's for that kind of questions myself as well. And contrary to the widget/interaction I mentioned before, a TEB is an interactive object, which means it can be validated and there can be a score attached to it. But, it will not help you, since you have to add the correct answers in the same way as for a dropdown list in the FIB question (they are sort of TEB's there). And it is that list that doesn't allow to enter a variable instead of a fixed sequence of characters.
Which means that you are back to the advanced actions, same as in my blog posts with the widget/interaction.
Have a workaround (after all I am the workaround Queen) to have reporting, if you need to check only one TEB, described here:

The idea is to use another interactive object that can have a score. In reality I use two instances of that same object: one with score 0 and one with score X and show the right one depending on the conditional action.
However if you want to have multiple TEB's on the same slide, that have to be checked all with the same advanced action, than you'll need either the Mastery widget by InfoSemantics (only for SWF output) or Javascript.

How Can I Use Variables to Score Interactions?

I've created a course. Each slide as a question/scenario and three buttons. Two wrong answers and one right. When you choose any of the buttons you get a feedback box that explains why you were right or wrong. These are not quiz slides, but I would like to use variables to score the slides if I could.
My idea was to create a variable and call it congrats. The variable as a sum of zero. Is it possible for me to add a numerical value to that variable each time a person chooses one of the buttons?
For example:
I wanted to add 10 to the variable if you choose the right answer. I wanted to give the incorrect answers a value of -5. In other words. You could either end up with 10 points on a slide if you choose the correct answer or 0 points if you choose the 2 incorrect answers and the correct answer, or 5 points if you choose a incorrect and correct answer.
At the end, I would like you come to a slide. this slide will be based on the value of that variable at the end. Either you have a 100 or lower depending on how you did.
I hope this isn't too confusing.

You forgot one important detail: has the score to be transmitted to a LMS or is it only meant to be shown in the Captivate file?
And which version are you using? The easiest way to achieve this is to use the partial scoring (and penalty) that is already available for MCQ slides with multiple correct answers.

I trying to figure out a better way to determine a string variable from multiple options.
Say i have five pictures each with a different filename: img1 - img5...these file names could be named anything really but for this example i will keep them as img1, img2, img3, img4 and img5.
I want to display a messagebox with the string depending on what a certain variable is.
So for example, we have the number X, if X = 1 then i want the messagebox to show "img1" as the message
Essentially the way I have been doing it so far is:

Up until now, this has been fine, but what if I have 50 images, do I have to do this for all 50 images? or is there an easier way like putting the image names into a text file and have it read from the file depending on what the variable i equals? If so,
how do I go about this? Does each image name go on a separate line? can it just be separated by a comma instead? or is there a better way?
Please note that i know that i have declared "i" above in my code and not intialised it with anything, in reality "i" comes from somewhere else in the program so please ignore that part, it is not what I am concerned with.

Arrays are useful for this.
Dim imagenames() As String = {"img1", "img2", "img3", "img4", "img5"}
Dim imagename As String = imagenames(i)
MessageBox.Show(imagename, "Name of image")
Any sort of collection will do instead of an array, and may be simpler to manage. There are many other options - the most suitable one probably depends on where the names originally come from. For instance, if you are getting them from a folder
using the FileSystem.GetFiles method, then they are already in a collection.
If the files names never change then you may as well include them in the program code, using something like the code above. If they can change, then you could use a text file, but that means you need a file update routine. If that is required
then the way you store the names will dictate how you access them.

Problem with Multimapping using Variable Susbtitution

I have done a Multi-Mapping where I have used variable substitution in the mapping
The problem I am facing is that when my target message generates multiple messages the files are creating successfully on the FTP server but if only a
single message generates on the target side then my message is successfully processed in IS but in adapter engine the message status is in "Waiting" state.
When i see the audit log i found the following details:

Using file adapter to read multiple rows into the database. Its a basic transformation with a one to one match, e.g. what's on the left exist on the right.
The issue is that I want to uniquely identify each file process with an ID. Therefore what I have done is set up a sequence which will be used as a batch ID. I assign this to a variable before I transform the file definition to the database definition.
What I would like to do is assign this variable to a field in my database as a kind of dynamic constant. I don't seem to be able to use the getVariableData in the options. I want this ID to be loaded on every line without incrementing.
Does anyone know if it is possible to use variables within the transformation.

Using variables in WLST Script ant task

I have multiple scipts that are run using ant tasks, however, I do not want to have to enter the password every time one of these scripts is executed. Instead I would like to use the following ant task to store the password in a variable/property:

when I use *XDIM_MEMBERSET ACCOUNT AS %TEST% = BAS(REVENUE) - it work fine.
BUT ! after my first commit, it seems like the variable value is lost. And the *Xdim_memberset takes all.....
Fortunately enough, *select still contains the variable value after *commit.

Problems copying and pasting multiple slides from one captivate to another.

I have been able to copy and paste several slides into
another captivate and suddenly this has stopped working. I am using
the ctrl key to select multiple slides (a set of 3) and the using
the Edit drop-down to select copy slide. Then, I click on the other
captivate and click paste slides. It is only bringing 1 slide, the
first one, and not the 2nd and 3rd... any ideas. I've had another
set of eyes look over my shoulder... and we're both scratching our
heads.
Also, for some reason the text entry boxes are being copied,
but the failure caption associated with it does not come along. It
also copied the button but lost the association with the text entry
box. WTH?

This might work, this might not. I have copy paste problems
on a regular basis and all that works for me is closing Captivate
down and then re open and continue. At worst, a reboot tends to
solve this glitch in my experience.

Is there a way to print presenter notes with multiple slides per page?

I know you used to be able to do this with earlier versions by selecting options in the print dialog box, but I'm now using Keynote 6.1 on Mavericks, and I can only figure out how to do one or the other, not both. There will probably be over 100 students printing these out, so I'd really, really like to save paper by putting multiple slides on a page, but I want them to have both the slide and the notes.
