Using Websphere test env. in VisualAge

I am trying to test a web app using the Websphere test environment in VisualAge. What url do I type into my browser to view the example web apps?

Make sure you have these features added to your workspace (File->Quick Start->Features->Add Feature):
IBM WebSphere Java Libraries
IBM WebSphere Test Environment
IBM XML Parser for Java
Sun Servlet API
I'm not sure if you need all of these or maybe others. But let me know how it goes. Then just make sure you start up your test environment, start the Servlet Engine, and the Persistent Name Server.
All of your files should be located somewhere like this:
C:\Program Files\IBM\VisualAge for Java\ide\project_resources\IBM WebSphere Test Environment\hosts\default_host\default_app
There should be a default_app.webapp file in the servlets directory that may give you some options to change.
If that doesn't work for you and you have VA 3.5.3 take a look at the Tomcat Test Environment. It's very easy to install and run. http://www7.software.ibm.com/vad.nsf/FrameData/Master?OpenDocument&Title=Overview&FSet=1&Doc3=4556&Doc4=4567
Hope this helps!

  • Problem with Open document SSO using websphere.

    Hi All,
    I have a issue,
We configured AD SSO using websphere and its working fine but when we try to login to the open document SSO using websphere it prompting for login credentials.
Is there any steps needed for configure open document SSO using websphere.
We made all the changes in web.xml file for the Open Document ,same as in Infoview web.xml file.
When we launch the Open Document, it prompts for the login screen, we get username and passwd fields we do not get the authentication drop down,if we give the AD credentials , we get "Enterprise Authentication error" .We feel the default authentication mode is taken as "Enterprise".
We have made changes in the web.xml for open document to have authentication.dafault as "secWinAD", also ,for test purpose we made the authentication. visible as "true" but the changes were not taken, we have redeployed the war files.
Any one please help on this.
    Environment Details-
    BOBJ XI R3.1 SP2
    Web Sphere 6.1.0.25  .
    Thank you in advance.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Bill.

The same settings in the infoviewapp web.xml must be applied on the opendocument web.xml. Also you must be on XI 3.1 FP1 or higher. There is currently an Edge issue being investigated.
    Regards,
    Tim

  • Error in Toplink 10.1.3 cache coordination using Websphere JMS

I' am trying to setup Cache Coordination for Toplink 10.1.3 in Websphere 7 using Websphere's implementation of JMS. However I' am getting a NamingException
when I try to lookup the Topic and TopicFactory from the JNDI tree. Admin Security is enabled in the server but not application security. I' am able to lookup
the queues using InitialContext. Upgrading to Toplink 11 is not an option right now for us. Please help in finding out if anything is missing in my Toplink configuration.

We are taking another run at TopLink 10.1.3 and have run into this problem again.
It turns out that this is fairly reproducable. It occurs when we remove the last item (or all of the items) from the parent collection.
It occurs with transparent indirection on or off.
I've added several tests to our Junit suite to detect this behavior with various objects. Sometimes they fail, sometimes they pass. Going back to TopLink 9, a couple of the tests that fail in 10 fail, but most of them pass.
Given the number of folks who shared our probem in TopLink9, I wonder how many have a similar problem in 10. I also wonder why the behavior differs somewhat between 9 and 10. Though our expanded test suite is now detecting the behavior in 9, it is less frequent.

  • Create test env

Hi , I am new to this essbase aplication in my company . How do i create test env (outline , cal scripts , data etc ) from production server with same setting . Both server are already setup. For learning purposes , i want use same data / cal scripts etc . I appreciate for any suggestions.Thank You,ponnapati.

If you already have data in your production application simply create and application and database by the same name on you dev box and copy your database files and page and index file from your production box to your test box. The database files will be the files with the name of your database and the page and index will be ess00001.ind and ess00001.pag. You must shut down both applications in order to copy the database files.

  • Using BPEL test suites

I am trying to use the "test suites" feature in 10.1.3.
    Is there any documentation available?
I am not able to build "message instance files". Is there wizard for creating them?

Is it possible that this feature is not really implemented yet?
Just some nice icons in Jdeveloper?
In Websphere there is a complete simulation environment.... (WITH DOCUMENTATION!!!)
In my opinion the only workaround is to use the ESB with an database adapter, which listens on a table.
There one can insert the "test-messages"...

  • No OptimisticLockException on Client when using Websphere with JTA

    Hi,
i'm using Websphere 6.0 with toplink 10.1.3.3.0 and the external TransaktionController (JTA) is enabled in the session.xml.
Now I've activated OptimisticLocking (VersionLocking) and when the websphere server throw the OptimisticLockException, i see the Exception with the correct Cause and Message in the server logfile but on the remote Client i get there an
java.rmi.RemoteException: CORBA UNKNOWN 0x4942fe86 Maybe; nested exception is:
         org.omg.CORBA.UNKNOWN:
         >> SERVER (id=4773e3aa, host=i11410.sbb.ch) TRACE START:
         >> java.rmi.RemoteException: ; nested exception is:
         com.ibm.websphere.csi.CSITransactionRolledbackException
    - thats all.
I've tried it also with an ExceptionHandler where i created my own OptimisticLockException, but the same - on the server i see it but on the client only this ugly websphere Exception.
Does anybody know this problem, is there something in the configuration wrong?

    Hi
I have tested the s-video out on this notebook and everything worked correctly.
I really dont know why it does not work on your notebook.
Despite the fact that the s-video cable has worked on the friends computer, you should test another one because there are different s-video cables with different ends like SCART connector or only s-video and two RCA jacks for sound.
Furthermore I would recommend testing this on fresh recovered notebook.
Additionally you could take the notebook to your friend and test it on another TV.

  • Error using the test console of the Oracle Service Bus 11gR1

Hi I am facing a an issue while using the test console of the Oracle Service Bus 11gR1 .
Every time I try to execute a business service or a proxy service I end up getting the following message.
    Error Accessing Test Configuration
*"Test Console" service is not running. Contact administrator to start this service.*
In fact to add to my frustration I am unable to execute any of my proxy services from outside clients like SOAPUI as well.
Is anyone else facing this too ??
Also every time the server starts I can see some diagnostic error messages on my Eclipse console.
*[ERROR] AdapterManager - ServletContainerAdapter manager not initialized correctly.*
Attached the whole log at the end below.
To provide an update on my trouble shooting
    1. ) I tried to give the IntegrationAdmin and IntegrationDeployer roles to my admin user. in fact i also tried to give it all the possible privileges.
Result: Still the same error message.

This is really putting me off and its really disappointing to see all these issues in this new release.
How can oracle let a release slip in with such a Major Issue.
Please can any one help or provide a work around atleast.
    Regards
    Nitin

I guess till version 10gr3.1 you only needed to start one server and it allowed to access both admin and service bus console.Yes, in 11g as well you may access the admin and OSB console by just starting the admin server but in 11g OSB configuration gets deployed on OSB server (managed server) and test service also runs over this server.
Are you saying there is some other server I need to start just for running the test console ????Yes. Managed server osb_server1 needs to be started for deploying, testing and accessing OSB resources.
As If the OSB server was not running how can I check my published services, modify them and do all the bits and pieces after opening the open the service bus console but not just test them???You can modify and save your configuration without staring OSB server but if you will check in change centre then all the changes being done without starting OSB server will remain in partially activated state.
I have been using the service bus for 3 years and I have never faced any such issue. With each new release you may get new features and with a major release like 11g, architecture and functionality may change.
If it all there is some other server I need to start then whats the process to do so ??Open command prompt. Navigate to $Domain_Home/bin and run command
    startManagedWeblogic.cmd <nameOfManagedServer>
    for eg. -
    D:\OFMW11g\mw\user_projects\domains\ofmw_domain\bin>startManagedWebLogic.cmd osb_server1
Once this server is up and running, try using test console.

  • Transaction Time out error in EJB while using Websphere Application Server.

    Hi All,
I am using Websphere Application server and getting the transaction time out error. By default the transaction time out is 120 second. I am using session bean for doing a set of transaction. These set are dynamically generated. Is there any way to set the transaction time out for only this session bean to infinite ?
    Thanks in advance
    Vivek

    Hi,
According to WAS 6 , every opened connection has to be commited (or rolledback) explicitly (didnt try autocommit) before closing. Even if all you have done with that connection is a SELECT Query.
This has apparently solved the same problem I was getting. implement it and see whether it helps you.

  • ID: How to use the test Configuration tool

    Hi all,
I have done one simple file2file scenario and it is working fine( source file is reaching the destination).
By using this scenario, i would like to know the use of test configuration.( which is in Integration Directory).
I have given the input parameters what it has asked.
    Header details:-
sender service, sender message interface and namespace.
    payload:-
xml format( taken from message mapping)
    log result:-
    Sender Agreement
    Internal Error
HTTP connection to ABAP Runtime failed. Error: 403 Forbidden URL: http://xxxxx:8000/sap/xi/simulation?sap-client=000 User: XIDIRUSER
Please help me how to work with this tool.
    Regards,
    Deviprasad.

hi deviprasad...even i face the same problem whenever i tried using test configuration tool...
i think it means...its trying to make a connection :  HTTP connection to ABAP Runtime ......which fails due to lack of proper authorization...
if u login to ur integration builder with a user having the proper authoriztion(i dont know exactly)...u can do the test..... coz during the test there is a connection between java and abap stack...
pls rectify me and convey me if u get the proper answer....or if i m wrong..
pls try to do use the test after login to IB through a user with maximum authorization....

  • Test scripts for oracle applications using qtp testing tool

    hi
i want some test scripts for oracle applications using qtp testing tool
    regards

You will need to create separate scripts for Load testing. The functional scripts cannot be used in OLT. The exceptions to this would be the "General" items (Java Code Script & Web Services) which can also be used in OLT.
e.g. Instead of selecting "Functional Testing - Oracle EBS/Forms"
select "Load Testing (Protocol Automation) - Oracle EBS/Forms"
Once you get into load testing you'll realise that you want to create very specific scripts and won't want to try re-using functional scripts. I know a lot of such tools are 'sold' on the fact that functional scripts can be re-used for load, but when it comes down to it you'll want to design your load scripts seperately anyway!

  • How to test servlet using Junit test????

    Hello everybody
Does anybody know how to test an servlet class using Junit without using Cactus test . Is it possible to test a servlet using Junit without cactus test.Plz tell me the process how to test a servlet using Junit test .
    Regards
    srikant

    1) Do yoiu mean how to "run" your servlet code with sample parameter? This call manual testing with a sample run of you code. You need a web server(eg Tomcat), create a webapp with your servlet then deploy it there in order to run it.
    2) httpunit and junit are framework to write test case code that can be automated and repeatable. Plz read their doc.
    3) Your sample code me a very wrong way to retrieve and convert servlet parameters.
Get a java toturial and servlet tutorial book and read it over the weekend. You need to get at least the basic.

  • Oracle Forms Architecture using Websphere AS

My company wish to migrate to the latest version of Oracle forms (currently 10.1.2 (10gr2) ) from v5 and v6. I understand that the first step is to migrate v5 to v6, then we can move from v6 to v10.
My question is actually regarding the forms architecture we are looking to implement. We are to purchase new WinTel servers (IBM x3550 rack servers) and my senior manager is "directing" me towards using Websphere as the application server. What experience do people have of running Forms with Websphere (as opposed to Oracle Application Server or Apache/Tomcat/mod-jk)? How easy (or not) is the configuration of forms to work with Websphere? Are there any "gotchas" to be aware of?

    Hi,
I don't know nothing about Websphere, but I did the same thing for BEA WebLogic Server a while ago, that is install and run Forms without using OAS.
It took me about one month to get it running, with most of the time spent on figuring out how BEA WebLogic (or any J2EE compliant server) works, how forms server works and what to put where. And to figure out, which parts (i.e .jar-files) are needed by the applet and which ones by the servlets, since oracle installs them all into the same directory (forms\java).
Things to look out for or be aware of:
    - you still must install Oracle Application Server Forms + Reports Services (you just don't run the server tools or daemons then, and even can delete them from your disk)
    - you still need a licence for OAS!
    - some addons like SingeSignOn or Load Balancing may not work , or at least be more difficult to integrate
    hope that helps
