Using Windows System Tools 'Back Up' Program????

If you enable the iPod as a disc and it shows up in Windows Explorer as just another drive, why can't I simply use the Windows System Tools 'back up' program to simply back up the iPod drive to my PC? Then when I want, I can reverse the process if needed.

I don't know if you know but Windows server 2003 supports shadow copies:
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsserver2003/technologies/storage/vds/default.mspx
You could use some backup sw on the Windows server to backup to a OS X server volume but that wont give you the TimeMachine functionality.
I can't tell you how the shadow copy files can be backed up.

  • How to install forms 6i runtime using windows Systems Management Server?

    Hi,
Our clinents are using oracle forms 5 application and we want to upgrade to forms 6i ( client /server ).
How to install oracle forms 6i and reports 6i runtime in multiple client machines
using windows systems management server instead of installing one by one manually.
    Regards

Here is a quick summary on why this works...
    The Problem:
The issue relies with the method and logic that MDT’s scripts use to query and validate that the proper disks, partitions and storage space reside before starting the installation of Windows.
Essentially what you have configured in the Task Sequence and the UNATTEND.xml is analyzed by the MDT scripts then a validation is completed against the hardware in which you wish to install Windows
on and if there are any errors you will be prompted with MDT Error or Warning dialogs.
The problem is that the MDT scripts use WMI to query the hard disk, partition and free space requirements for Windows, but in the case of using GPT disk, the 2nd partition (MSR) that you have to create
is hidden. The class that WMI uses for its query can’t see the MSR partition so instead of 3 partitions, it returns 2 in the query results; hence why DISK 0 PARTITION 3 doesn’t work as mentioned earlier when configured in the MDT Task Sequence.
Although the above still confuses me as to why it works with DISK 0 PARTITION 2 since the WMI query results return PARTITION IDs 0 and 1 when it should return 1 and 2…
The Windows Pre-Installation Environment however does see all 3 partitions correctly and we tried configuring in our Task Sequence to install Windows to DISK 0 and PARTITION 2 and in the UNATTEND.xml
file to install Windows to DISK 0 and PARTITION 3 but due to timing issues of the way Windows installs with MDT, did this not work for us.

  • Using Windows NT 4.0 client program connecting to oracle 8i linux server

    Dear sir/madam,
Recently, I have successfully installed Oracle 8i in my red hat linux database server. I am disappointed because I can find client side Oracle Enterprise Manager in my linux server even I have installed client program in my linux database server.
Next, I install Oracle 8i client side program (windows NT/2000 version) in my Windows NT 4.0 server. I am still disappointed because I find Oracle Enterprise Manager console cannot work.
For Windows NT 4.0 Enterprise Manager, I have key in default administrator sysman, password oem_temp, and connect to mamagement server hangng (my linux database server). An error message display 'VTK-1000 Unable to connect to the management server hangng. Please verify that you have entered the correct host name and the status of the Oracle Management Server.'.
What's wrong with both Oracle 8i Management Server in linux database server and windows nt 4.0 server. Is there any problem for Oracle Management server console to connect to red hat linux database server?

I saw another thread that mentioned a patch level required for 8i to let the 10g client connect. Is there such a patch level needed for 11g clients as well? There is no such patch for 8i which allows 11g client to connect.

  • I receive an error message when trying to install the latest Itunes program on my computer using windows 7, 64. I receive the message, "service  apple mobile device fails to start"

What must I do to install the latest Itunes program using windows 7, 64. The program stops when the service portion is installing and states, "Service Apple mobile division fails to start"

Well, shucks, i just spent almost 30 minutes trying to find your model user guide to explain it better, I guess they never got around to making it.....
I would just borrow another Windows disk and try installing it again and if it does it again then you might take it to an Apple Store and see if one of the "Genius' " can figure it out.
Make sure your internet is enabled and click on your blank desktop and at the top of your screen is a Help menu option, enter PRAM and it should give you a list of things relating to Pram. It may take a few seconds to list anything as it has to connect to Apples severs first. It should list the things you may have to fill back in when your done.
"P-ram" stores some common information that is used in the background, your date, time, startup disk, etc, that you don't have to re-fill when you restart, it's a little different for each computer.

    Hey everyone,
I'm running Lion on a 2011 MBP and have a Windows System Image backed up from an older bootcamp partition I'd like to install. Is there any way to create a disc of the system image and install from that?

You might see if you can restore it using CloneX - MacUpdate or CNET Downloads

I am using Lightroom 5 and am hapy about it, but recently I hav encountered a problem when trying to edit an image in another program, i.e. Elements. I used the clone tool, saved the result and went back to Lightroom to open the image there. I did find a second copy, but this is identic with the one I already had in Lightroom, and I can see noe result of the clone process.

At the moment I would say it is uncertain whether Acrobat is completely ignoring the change, or whether the changes you are making aren't affecting the ink density. I have a suggestion for a test you could make to see which is the case.
When editing in Photoshop just add a box or mark on the image, for your tests.
    - If this box does not appear in Acrobat, you know Acrobat is not seeing the edit
    - If this box does appear in Acrobat, you know the problem is that your tool for changing ink densities is not taking effect.

Arpit thanks, I have almost exactly the same issue, except that any editing of any kind in my Indesign CC seems to cause a crash.Windows 7 home premium.64bit
I have received the same solution as you gave above, from the tech team, but cant find the correct file to add the "CopyPlugins.vbs script." to....I get an error message telling me to try again and chose the file adobe indesign CC, and yet that's what I'm doing. There must be an instruction missing for finding the correct file.

  • Playing back Recorded TV Programs using Windows Media Player and only hearing Sound from Front Speakers

    Hi All,
I have Windows 7 Ultimate 64-Bit Service Pack 1 with Windows Media Player 11 installed.
When I click on one of my Recorded TV Programs to watch and hear, I can only hear the Sound coming from the Front Speakers.
When I right-click on the Program and open it up in Real Player Cloud. I can indeed watch the program and hear Clear Sound coming from all 5 Speakers plus the Subwoofer.
What setting do I change to use Windows Media Player and have sound coming from all 5 Speakers and the Subwoofer?
    Thank you!

    Hi Andreas,
    Thanks for the reply.
The link you put up, takes me to the page, but
"The requested URL /surround/www_lynnemusic_com_surround_test.wma was not found on this server."
    That was WaterFox.
    The webpage cannot be found
    This in Internet Explorer 11.0
The Files in question were Recorded by Beyond TV to my Local Hard Drive.
When I open the recording in Real Player Cloud, installed on my computer, not streaming over the Internet, I hear it correctly played.
When I use Windows Media Player, nothing can be heard from the Rear Speakers.
Speakers and Hardware are working fine.

  • When HP Recovery isn't available... system image using Windows 8 as backup?

Would like to start out with a big shout out to Paul T for his VERY useful thread here !    http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Operating-Systems-and-Software/Windows-8-Product-Key-for-Pavilion-G6/m-p/3882966/highlight/false#M205987 A friend's family asked me to work on their laptop since I know more about computers than they do ... they're very good people, was happy to help them out but true to form like a lot of PC users they didn't bother keeping ANY of the documentation that came with the laptop (HP Pavilion g6-2298nr ), nor did they bother to burn recovery DVD's using HP's built in recovery software program that comes standard on the laptops... if I'm interpreting what HP's website had to say about the laptop , model HP Pavilion g6-2298nr, correctly, according to it's serial number it no longer qualifies for free tech support and I'd have to pay HP a fee just to talk to someone and order  the recovery DVD's  (friend's family bought it back in Dec 2014  so to me it seems REALLY strange that I wouldn't be able to just order the recovery DVD's without having to pay tech support a fee just to ask to order  the recover DVD's !  .. but anyways...)...  This is where having the product key "built into" the BIOS really comes in handy !   I crossed my fingers, used the method mentioned in the thread linked above, and it worked !    ... have to admit it was a bit strange at first not using the product key sticker like the old days but I can see how this works better in the long run - helps to prevent piracy, you don't have to worry if someone who doesn't realize the importance of the product key sticker peels it off and throws it away ... Unfortunately it looks like when you reinstall Windows this way you lose the HP Backup and Recovery Program     ... in this case my friend's family had the misfortune of paying someone to repair this laptop who didn't bother to tell them " Hey, I replaced the hard drive that's going bad but if you don't get a laptop cooler for this sucker the laptop's just going to overheat again ! " ... sure enough, the money they paid this so called "tech repair" person went down the drain when the laptop fried a second hard drive, or maybe the tech saddled them with a bad hard drive who knows? (the tech bought an OEM hard drive off ebay) ... ... sorry to sound harsh about this tech guy, I will admit I only worked in the PC repair field for a few months over a decade ago before leaving it to be a stay-at-home-dad (wife is a pharmacist so I'm lucky enough to be able to stay home) so my experience is VERY limited compared to other people .. but back then  I always treated my customers the way I'd treat a friend, and if it's a friend you offer advice on how to prevent problems like this in the future... this laptop gets HOT like you wouldn't believe , I have it sitting on a very reliable laptop cooler (thick slab of aluminum that does a great job as a heatsink with fans, this one http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834953038 and I've let my friend's family know in no uncertain terms they need to order this laptop cooler if they're going to use this laptop) ...  The hard drive  replacement I installed seems to be working fine but of course it's not an "official WD hard drive" .... when I tried to install the photolink cyberdirector software for example at the link below got  a " this isn't a WD hard drive so can't install this software" error message...  http://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/hp-pavilion-g6-2200-notebook-pc-series/5296082/model/5333338#Z7_3054ICK0K8UDA0AQC11TA930O2 which is fine I really don't think my friend's family will care about that program... but it makes me wonder, even if I trusted the download at this link below http://www.techspot.com/downloads/5190-hp-backup-and-recovery-manager.html if the HP Backup and Recovery manager program would even work to begin with since it's not an official WD hard drive (I also ordered an OEM hard  drive  off ebay    .. but not charging my friend's family for the hard drive since they've been good to my munchkins and didn't want them to pay through the nose for a more  expensive hard drive so of course I wanted to minimize my own expenses...)... also I think that sort of program relies on a " C " and " D " drive being set up like it was when the laptop shipped with the original hard drive and saves a backup copy on the " D " drive.. I suppose I could use disk management to create a different partition, label it " D " and see if HP Backup and Recovery worked but it seems a bit.. iffy... not to mention that I feel uncomfortable downloading something that isn't directly on HP's website as an "official" download...  I  know that Windows 8 has a "system image"  utility built into it that lets you make just that.. a system image.. like I said my friend's family are good people but I'm guessing sooner or later they're going to screw this laptop up again like a lot of computer users do .. it would be nice if I could burn a system image of what's on the laptop right now onto DVD and hang onto it so when they come back to me in the future hollering "Help , laptop isn't working again ! " I can just restore from the system image on DVD rather than having to go through the hassle of reinstalling Windows, graphics/audio/et cetera drivers, zillion and one Windows updates et cetera all over  again. What I'm wondering is... would this even work?    I've never tried to use system image in a situation like this with the product key being "built into" the BIOS , that sort of thing is brand new to me... is it worth burning the DVD's and hanging onto them just in case?  Sorry for the long essay and thanks in advance to anyone who actually takes the time to read all of this !

Thanks man it's really helpful to know that someone else has used this exact same method successfully to back up their HP computers !      Will do just that... yep, yep I know it'll be at least 10 DVD's or something crazy like that after all those windows updates download    ... problem with using an external hard drive is I can't convince my friend's family to buy one no matter how many times I warn them it's not "if" your PC gets messed up it's " when "    ..... and my external hard drives are all in use with system image backups of my own PC's ... so will burn the DVD's for 'em then just hang on to them and wait for the inevitable   And thanks for the kind words about my work for them too !    .. it's a lot of effort but they've been super nice to me so it's the least I can do  ... they're actually parents of one of my daughter's best friends and  they've taken my munchkin out to various places and flat out refused to let me pay them back for it so it feels good to be able to help them out this way... though I wish they'd come to me first instead of letting themselves get ripped off by the so called PC tech I mentioned earlier (would it have killed the guy to burn them a set of recovery DVD's?   Heck if he wanted to be selfish and greedy he could have just offered it to them for an "additional fee" but it would have saved them and me a lot of trouble !    Though I'm not sure if the recovery DVD's would cooperate given that it's not an "official HP hard drive" I put in there? ) It occured to me that if I call tech support they probably can't charge me if I don't give them a credit card number   .. so I did (1-888-698-3762).. they said the warranty on this laptop expired Dec 2013 !     Friend's family said they bought it in Dec 2014 from QVC, hope QVC didn't sell them a used laptop !   ... HP wanted over a hundred dollars for an "official" HP hard drive said no thanks to that... HP says despite me putting in a non-HP hard drive that recovery DVD's should work ... HP wanted  $     for recovery DVD's (tried to help me order recovery  DVD's off  HP website, they couldn't find the link on there to them either for some reason... maybe 'cause laptop is an older model??? ) ...  HP asked for thirty dollars (cheapest option!) for recovery DVD's ... but mentioned that if the laptop really was purchased Dec 2014 and if I e-mail them proof of purchase they'll ship out recovery DVD's for free instead since it would be within it's one year warranty period.. I'm waiting on the friend's family to give me the proof of purchase for me to scan and e-mail  to HP ... though I think I'm going to go ahead and use system image to burn the DVD's first THEN run the HP recovery DVD's (if they do in fact turn out ot be free) in case the HP rep made a mistake and the HP recovery DVD's don't like the "unofficial" HP hard drive on this laptop...

  • WINDOWS 8.1 - System Tools no longer displaying User and Group Settings after adding a new LOCAL user.

I jumped on my parents computer, which is on a domain.  I added a new local user(with my live.com login) and gave it admin status.  That's when the trouble began.
The main user profile disappeared.  I used the command prompt fix (see other fixes) to add the missing user back into admin.  I logged back in, and it set up the account for the first time (WTF?).  I cannot access any files from the main account
(that I logged into just fine before to get this debacle started.)
When going to Local Computer Management --> System Tools, my users and groups tool is missing.
I ran lusrmgr.msc only to find out that the most current version of Windows 8.1 and this is what it said "This snapin may not be used with this edition of Windows 8.1.  To manage user accounts for this computer, use the User Accounts tool in the
Control Panel."   <---- Awesome!  (that was sarcasm.)
I have spent over two hours in the User Account tool during the course of this problem only to prove that a picture of a computer is more useful that that "tool".
To anyone reading this ticket, the best advice I can offer you (as long as its not a crucial machine) is to back up what you can gain access to, format your hard-drive and reinstall windows and start over again.  I wouldn't recommend reinstalling 8.1,
I would say go back to 7 and wait until 10 comes out.   Windows 8 is the new Vista.  Good luck!

    Hello AhavahOlam,
    I can understand your feelings.
If my understanding is right, after adding a new local user in domain-joined Windows 8.1, you can’t open the local users and groups.
Can you still add account by going to Control Panel\User Accounts and Family Safety\User Accounts\Manage Accounts?
As this computer is domain-based, it is recommended to contact the domain administrator to see if the option is blocked.

Hi I'm new to this forum and I haven't seen the proper place to post some thing like this. I'm going to post it here and staff can do what they wish with it.
I can't understand why people aren't creating a System Repair Disc to Restore Windows 7. This is the best tool you can have. I have seen a ton of people posting here that can't boot into Windows 7. No mention of a repair Disc. Can you people not read?? This should be one of the first things to do after creating System Recovery Media(Mine requires 5DVD's). What is your thinking not to do these things?
