USPS  Click-N-Ship

Hello,
I am trying to figure out how to use the Post Office's Click-N-Ship to print
labels for mailing packages. I have dowloaded Adobe Reader Ver 8.0.0.
When I attemtp to print a label, I get a print dialogue box. Hit the print button and nothing happens. I use an Elite 21N laser printer from GCC Technologies.
The Elite Printer's dialogue box shows a document momentarily in the printer's list, then the document disappears from the list.
Thank-you, John

Hi JV,
Thanks for your helpful suggestions. I have come across a very simple solution
(From an advertisement in MacWorld).
There is company called mac.ENDICIA.com. They have a specially designed
interface....which works simply, effortlessly for shipping packages through
the Post Office. There is a monthly fee. I am happy to pay when I do not
spend six hours trying to figure the process. ENDICIAS interface is simple, simple simple.
I really needed simplicity. The idea of saving a document to a different format and then changing programs to print it causes my eyes glazed-over.......let alone the problem with teaching this procedure to others.
Thanks, John

  • Safari 5.1.2 not working with USPS Click-N-Ship Label Printing

I use the USPS Click-N-Ship for printing postage labels. Prior to this update the behavior was: I'd enter the label information, check out and click the print button. The labels would be generated and downloaded to my downloads folder and Preview would automatically open the file with the labels. A quick CMD-P and I was all done.
Since the update to 5.1.2 when I tell the post office website to print (ie generate) the label, no label is downloaded, thus nothing can be printed. The post office website behaves normally and acts as though the label was generated and handed off to the OS.
My guess here is that the new PDF handeling is kicking in but because the PDF that's generated has a wacky (Adobe Reader?) extention Safari doesn't know what to do with it. Here's the file name that the USPS generates:
    com.usps.cns.web.pdf.LabelGenerationServlet
My workaround today was to use firefox, which will download the above file, then I chage the extention to .pdf, then I can open it in Preview and print. A lot more steps and a lot more hassle. Any ideas on how I can go back to the prior behavior or should I just punt and install Adobe Reader, which is what the post office website is expecting, but I've never needed up until now?

I usually print my labels effortlessly, directly from PayPal after someone pays via PayPal.  Yesterday I needed to print after being paid by check so I went directly to the USPS Click/Ship site.  So  after my label didn't print but USPS charged my account anyway, I called customer service at USPS.  After one hour on hold I was given another number for tech support.  Another hour later, someone finally answered and told me that Safari just changed and is no longer compatible with their system.  Grr.
I asked her why USPS doesn't announce that clearly up front  on their site so Mac users won't have to go through all this wasted time and frustration and she said there aren't that many Mac users compared to PC!  Are they serious?  Really?
Anyway, I suggested the makers of the printing programs make the effort to accommodate us "few" Mac users and she said I have to switch to Mozilla Firefox in order to print my labels.  Oh, also I have to wait two weeks for a refund.
I'm no computer whiz but how difficult could it be to allow the applet access to print the label which is generated and showing right there ON THE SCREEN?
Perhaps if enough of us complain, they will consider us Mac users worthy of equal service.

  • USPS click-n-ship HELP

Until recently I was able to use click-n-ship with either Navigator or IE. Then I had a hard drive failure and Apple's fix was to reformat my HD. Now I no longer have IE and no other browser seems to work for me with click-n-ship. I've tried Safari, Netscape, and Firefox. I've got Acrobat Reader 7.0.7 and the full version of Acrobat 7.0 installed. Any help anyone can give me is much appreciated. Hopefully it's just some setting that I'm too stupid to fix. This isn't life or death, but it sure is nice to be able to print labels from home instead of my lousy Windows machine at the office. As an aside, it all worked just fine with Safari using the old Java system. They should have just left it alone.

Latest update: I tried Safari, Opera, Firefox, and the latest version of Netscape. All acted the same. I could, obviously, use the USPS site, but I could not print click-n-ship labels. Internet Explorer for Mac is no longer available from any download site I could find. So last night I had a revelation and simply draged the IE icon from my wife's laptop to a flash drive. It copied all of the components I needed to install it on mine and darned if it didn't work like a charm. Printed labels perfectly. I still can't explain why firefox and netscape seem to work for some people and not for me, but IE does. That's ALL I'll usee IE for, and only until Safari works, but now I'm golden.
    Hope this will help someone.

  • Usps click n ship when I try to sign in it loops back to sign in and will not let me send a package. New problem with USPS after they updated. I'm on Mac using 10.6.8

When I try to log on to click n ship it keeps looping back to sign in. It will not let me send package. Started with usps updated of site.

I had the same problem and found the solution here:

  • With Firefox 4 I can't print a shipping label off the post office's website (click 'n ship) like I used to with Firefox 3

I go through all the steps to print out a shipping label when I am on the post office's website for click 'n ship, but the website won't communicate with my printer (when I am in firefox 4). So I switched back to Firefox 3 and have no problems.
This happened before in the beta version and I had to switch back to Firefox 3, so I was happy to switch again to Firefox 4 when the completed version came out, but the problem came up again and after all the steps were done to complete the shipping label and I hit the print label button, my printer connection window never popped up so that I could click on it to command my printer to print the label. I am a registered user of click 'n ship on www.usps.com

After waiting forever to talk to some jerk at USPS Click and Ship help, he told me it's an Adobe issue. I didn't ask why it just started happening, but I too just updated to Foxfire 4 recently, it must have something to do with it.
Open your Adobe reader... under programs...mine is called Adobe Reader X
Go to "Edit" in top left...click "Properties"...
    Uncheck "display PDF in browser",
Then restart your computer for it to take effect. I am so thankful it worked!

  • Click-n-ship

The new Safari comes with inline pdf viewing. Nice, except it does not work with the US Postal Service click-n-ship service. When the USPS site sends the PDF to the browser, safari does not show it inline or give you the option to save it. The work around for now is to use Omniweb, which opens it in Preview.

I am having the same problem. I cannot get Click-n-Ship to print labels on my new expensive imac G5. It does not work in Firefox or Safari. I cannot list anything in Safari. I wish they would have told me this at the Apple Store. The Post Office claims it's an Apple issue, Apple claims its a Post Office issue.
    Is there a fix?

  • US Postal Service Click-N-Ship label problem

Hi guys. I'm wondering if anyone can help me with a fix.
I like to use Click-N-Ship to print my mailing labels with, and while I get a printable label with it, the barcode comes up missing when I view it in Preview.
When I borrow someone's machine that has Acrobat Reader on it, the barcodes show up.
My question is, is there anything that I can do to Preview to have the postal service's labels show up correctly on MY machine without my having to download the Adobe product?
By the way, I showed this to our postal clerk, she told me they'd work without the barcode, but the code would have to be input manually because it can't be scanned. Naturally, if time is of the essence, it's to my advantage if the barcode shows up!
Thanks to any and all in advance for your help.

Another clue: when I tried a label on my home computer, I get indicia or bar codes. My home computer has never had Acrobat Reader on it. My work computer, from which I printed the original label, has both Acrobat Professional and Preview. I wonder if Acrobat corrupts Preview in some way to where it won't read the barcode fonts. I've even trashed the preferences for Preview on my work computer, and it still won't read them. They do come up in Acrobat.
I wonder if the problem is that Acrobat and Preview don't play together nicely?

  • Unable to print Click N Ship Labels (USPS) after installing Snow Leopard

I upgraded last week and today was the first time I needed to print a USPS label. Absolutely nothing happens. Normally, Reader opens, displays the label and then the label is printed using Reader.
On the USPS website, their requirements say to use Internet Explorer or Netscape. Prior to upgrading, I was able to print the labels using Safari as my browser.
    Does anyone have any suggestions?
    Thank you.

After more research and many different suggestions, I finally was able to print the USPS labels. I uninstalled Acrobat Reader and installed Foxfire. When printing the label in Foxfire, the label is downloaded. I then added .pdf to the end of the file, opened in Preview and was able to print.

  • USPS account options

Can anyone tell me which USPS tool/account we need for a client who will be shipping Media, Priority and Priority International?  I see the USPS Web Tools, but it looks to me like that has to do with installing and configuring the whole API, which I thought was already a part of the BC interface?  I'm a bit confused...
I also see the USPS Click-N-Ship, but it doesn't look like that would be an integrated option?
    Thanks!

    Hi Tom,
With USPS all you need is a user id. There's no need to supply the password.
The user id should look like this: 123ABCDE1234
One of the sites using USPS is http://www.kiddyplatter.com/placemat-craftmat/kiddy-platter-blue. You can see that the same integration works for them, so it's certainly something to do with your account.
Perhaps you could also post the message you're getting and the URL so that I can check your setup.
    Cheers,
    mario

  • Acrobat Pro 11.0.9 print problem with Yosemite OS X 10.10

I can no longer print 2d barcodes generated by USPS Click-and Ship website after upgrading to Yosemite 10.10.  The PDF on my display shows the 2d barcode, but when sending it to either a Brother printer or an HP printer, the word "Button" appears instead of the barcode.
When I open the PDF from a computer running Acrobat 11.0.9 on OS X 10.9, it prints properly.

Yes this is a ridiculous annoyance. I have found two work-a-rounds......firstly by using my iPad. I got the document onto the iPad from my iMac using dropbox. Then used an iPad printer app to print the pdf via my wifi printer.
The other way was to send the document to a friend and get him to print it for me!!!!!!

  • Problem with snow leopard and adobe reader

The United States Postal Service uses Adobe Reader to print labels with their "Click 'n Ship", a great service. I recently installed Snow Leopard on my Mac and I can no longer print labels with USPS Click 'n Ship. Applecare suggested I reinstall Reader (didn't work), or try with Firefox (haven't tried it yet). If this is a glitch, it will effect thousands of people who use USPS services. But maybe I just need a plug in, or need to make some change in the Adobe Reader Preferences. Any help out there in cyberland? ---Ken

    Hi,
I have Firefox but mainly use Safari
I was also getting a blank page when I tried to open a PDF.
It seemsI that when I downloaded the update version of Adobe Reader, it switched off the "Read & Write" back to just "Read".
if you go and get information on a PDF or Adobe  program (Command I), under "Open With" should say  Adobe Reader App  and at the left bottom where you'll see"Name" then below that,"everyone"-now just across you'll probably see "Read Only".(if you don't see this then go to step 5). This should be Read & Write so that Adobe Acrobat can create the Adobe Reader program to allow you to open and use a PDF.
If you have Adobe Reader 10.0 on your Apps, try going to step 5 below
    1) Go to your user folder on your hard drive (ie: "lew").
    2) Open Library/Application Support/ folder.
    3) If there isn't an "Adobe" folder, create one now (go to File-->New Folder menu item) and name it "Adobe".
    4) If there is an "Adobe" folder, right click on it and choose "Get Info".
    5) Expand the "Sharing & Permissions" area at the bottom of the info window. (click the triangle) so that  "system", "admin" and "everyone" appears.
    6) Click the lock icon in the lower right of the window.  Enter your password in the dialog that appears.
Now you'll see various choices you can make and "Read & Write" is open of them.
    7) For your username (ie: "lew") entry under "Name", make sure it says "Read & Write" to the right of it.  If your username isn't listed, make sure to the right of "everyone" it says "Read & Write".
Now Acrobat should launch properly when double clicked in the Finder as well as when viewing PDFs in Safari.
If this works please let me know

  • Safari and UPSP site

Does anyone know why the USPS "Click and Ship" and Safari don't mix? For that matter, why any MAc Browsers don't work on the USPS web site? I emailed them for an explanation (because they say they ARE compatible with Macs).
Our tax dollars at work (not)!
    Antonio

Actually, they say they do. Here's the info from their site:
Is the shipping label application compatible with Macintosh computers?
You can print a shipping label with Click-N-Ship® if you are using a Macintosh computer with OS 10.x or higher. If you’re using Internet Explorer or Safari you will need to take an additional step. Initally, your file will download to your hard drive and load into the "PDF viewer (or Apple Viewer)" application. Next, because this application does not support printing the label, you must open the PDF file on your hard drive using Adobe Reader Version 7.0 or higher
Of course, they later go on to say:
What should I do if my labels don't print when I have a Mac Version 10.4X?
If you are on a Mac Version 10.4, your Safari Browser will not work at this time due to a technical issue with Adobe V 7.0. Please use Internet Explorer. Make sure your file association is Adobe Reader and not Apple Preview.
They also put some blame on the Mac here:
I printed a label on my Mac, but it did not have a barcode. What should I do?
If a label prints without a barcode, please destroy the label and request a refund online. This is generally caused by a file association problem with Mac OS X. For Mac OSX, the default view for PDF documents is Preview instead of Adobe Acrobat Reader. To choose Adobe Reader or Adobe Acrobat as the default viewer, follow these steps:
1-Select any PDF file and press the "Apple" key and the letter "l" on your keyboard.
2-Select OPEN With from the Information Page.
    3-Select Adobe Acrobat Reader.
4-Click Change ALL and then click Continue.
The funny thing is that when I do this "Click and "Ship" through the Pay Pal site, it has been working just fine (shipping things through Ebay).
Please, everyone, email the Post Office and ask them to fix this. Email them here:
    [email protected]

  • USPS Print initialization causes Reader launch - never did before

    Mac 10.6.8
    Adobe Reader 10.1.0
    Safari Browser 5.1
When using Click N Ship from USPS, at the print point, at least for the past number of years, when ok to print is clicked, the Adobe print initialization box popped open and you would select 'ok' to print.
Since this past weekend, at a time when USPS redesigned and relaunched its site, though the system still functions basically the same way, whenever you go to print labels from within the site, the print initialization box does open, but adobe reader opens in full AND the system downloads the active labels as a PDF.
It never acted like this before.  Reported it to USPS.com as a bug, but wonder if there are some settings within Adobe that would stop this.  There is no need to have the pdf downloaded then displayed in reader, or for Reader to launch at all.
    Any help appreciated.

Odd that though the USPS said Safari would not work, I had it working just fine. 5.1 must have been the most recent update.
Wonder if there is any fix for this though?  Through Adobe?  Through Apple?
    Thanks!
UPDATE:  After scouring some other boards, I decided to revert using Time Machine and find the version of Safari just before this last update (7/21/11 updated to 5.1).
Put back 5.0.5 and it works PERFECTLY with just an initialization box to print, no launching of Reader.
Hope Apple gets this bug fixed (reported), and maybe Adobe can lend a hand.

  • Safari and the USPS

Can anyone get postage to print from the USPS through Safari? I do understand that Safari is not listed as a supported browser for their system, but I am hoping someone out there has figured a way around it. I can get the labels to print by using Google Chrome. Is there someway to set downloads to open with Preview instead of Adobe?
    Thanks,

Hi John and Welcome to Apple Discussions...
Unfortunately, the USPS compatible drivers are for Windows only. I just went round and round over this issue with my local USPS office myself. You need compatible drivers. Preview is a Mac OS X native application and doesn't support the software you need to print from.
