Utauthd gets in a loop after disconnect or reset a sunray client

Running Sunray Server software 4.2 on Oracle Enterprise Linux 5.5;
works fine
except when the connection reset, by accident or intentionally;
one would expect a Sun Ray Session lock screen, to provide the pw and restore the connection and session
the SunRay is getting in a loop of icons 26B -> 44B -> 26B -> 44B....
and the messages file on the server shows a loop of uauthd:

  • Looping after a hard reset

    Hi
    I have a treo 680. It started looping yesterday. I did a soft reset which stopped the looping but I still couldn't make or receive calls on my phone. Couldn't connect to internet either. I then did a backup and a hard reset. It started looping again, alternating between the palm logo with the progress bar, the orange palm logo, the palm OS powered by access and a screen with a bullseye. It all switches too fast for me to actually touch my stylus to the bullseye and it has been doing that all night. What's wrong with my phone ?
    Post relates to: Treo 680 (Rogers)

    Have you installed any 3rd party applications on the Treo before it started looping?
    Did you get the "erase all data" message when you did the hard reset?
    Try a warm reset to see if you can bypass the looping. Click on the following link for all the reset procedures for Palm devices.
    http://www.palm.com/cgi-bin/cso_kbURL.cgi?ID=887
    You may want to see if there is any debris under the frame of the Treo on the touchscreen. Take a business card or folded piece of paper, insert between the screen and the case. Move the card around the perimeter of the screen and see if there is any debris that comes out.
    If you can try the ard reset and it stops the looping, do not sync the Treo without first renaming the backup folder in your username folder.
    Here is the procedure to rename the backup folder.
    Before you hotsync your data back over you will need to rename your backup folder, to do that go here;
    XP
    C:\program files\palm or palm one\[hotsync username]\ and rename your backup
    folder to backup.old
    Vista
    Start-->documents\Palm OS Desktop\[hotsync username]\ and rename your backup
    folder to backup.old
    Then hotsync to your current hotsync name and all your contacts, calendar,
    tasks, and memos will come back over.
    Show file extensions for XP or Vista
    XP
    If you can not view file extensions on your PC I would like you to open a
    folder go to Tools-->Folder Options--> View (tab) and under show hidden
    files and folders uncheck hide file extensions for known file types.
    Vista
    Open control Panel go to Folder Options--> View (tab) and under show hidden
    files and folders uncheck hide file extensions for known file types.

  • Intallation loop after configuring X in Solaris 8

    The installation program gets into a loop after configuring X.
    It test my X setting, attempt to continue the installation, laungh a X test screen, goes back to the logging screen and says "All devices configured" go back to X test screen and then bag to the log screen and says the same "All devices configured" again. And it does it forever.
    Does any one has an idea what is going on?
    Thanks

    Try to "bypass" the X11 server configuration, and finish the
    installation in text mode.
    Once solaris is installed, try to install:
    - the latest solaris X11 video driver patch (109401-10 )
    http://sunsolve.sun.com/pub-cgi/show.pl?target=patches/xprod-Solaris_x86IntelDrivers&nav=pub-patches
    - or the Solaris XFree86 Video Drivers and Porting Kit
    http://soldc.sun.com/developer/support/driver/tools/video/video-index.html
    Try to configure the video card with the "kdmconfig" program,
    when logged in as user "root".

  • Mini DVI to Video: blue screen after disconnect

    Hi,
    can't find a solution: after disconnecting the mini dvi to video-adapter I always get a blue screen and I need to restart my brandnew 20" iMac.
    I use it to connect my (old) television via s-video. It is clear that I bought the right Mini-DVI-Adapter.
    Can anyone help or has the same problem?
    iMac 20"   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

    Thanks for the help. I'd figured out that shutting it off would keep it from happening and was probably a "best practice," but since 90% of my television watching is from my eyeTV, I'd be turning it on and off a lot.
    The only problem with leaving the setup plugged in, is that as soon as the mini DVI cable is plugged in, the resolution on the iMac resets itself to super-large fit for television mode and becomes virtually unusable as a computer, thus when I want to use my computer, the cable has to be unplugged....unless of course you know something I don't
    Thanks,
    Shaun

  • After installing Mountain Lion my MacBookPro crashes after disconnecting from Cinema Display

    Ever since I installed Mountain Lion on my 15" MacBookPro (early 2011 first with Tunderbolt connector) it crashes after disconnecting from Cinema display (this Cinema does not have Thunderbolt but mini display port). It woked fine under Lion.
    This crash occurs in following situation:
    MacBookPro is in closed clam shell operation. When Cinema display is still connected, I put MacBookPro into sleep. Then I disconnect Cinema display mini diplay connector from Thuderbotl port.
    When I get home and open MacBookPro it is in deep kernel crash.
    It happens every time.
    Any ideas how to fix this?
    Thanks

  • HT6114 Reboot loop after 10.9.2 upgrade

    My 2009 (dual-quad) Mac Pro 4,1 is now stuck in a reboot loop after upgrading from 10.9.1 to 10.9.2.
    //edit: I realized there wasn't a question: What is wrong with my computer and how do I fix it?
    So far I have tried:
    * Repairing the disk
    * Repairing permissions
    * Zapping the NVRAM/PRAM
    * Resetting SMC
    * Copying BootCache.playlist from a backup to /var/db
    Other things to note about my setup:
    In addition to the original hard drive, I installed a 4tb drive from which I have been working with since June. It is the 4tb drive that has 10.9.2 installed. The original 650gb still has 10.8.4 installed and all my original data pre-June.
    Also installed is a VisionTek Radeon 7870 video card which powers my numerous monitors. I do not recall having to install anything extra, or modify any settings to get it to work. The only downside is you can't really see anything when booting.
    In addition to the VisionTek card I also have one of the factory Geforce 120 cards installed. Using another monitor attached to that card I've been able to monitor the boot process using the command-v verbose output.
    Of notable interest I get the dreaded "BootCache: unable to open /var/db/BootCache.playlist : 2" error, along with a few SMC errors. If these are important I can attach pictures taken of the boot process.
    I am able to zap the NVRAM and boot the old 10.8.4 650gb drive. It loads fine. 10.9.2 will not boot into safe mode, but will boot into recovery mode.
    As a final attempt to fix the BootCache error I copied it from a Time Machine backup into /var/db/ ensuring the correct permissions were set. After rebooting the file is deleted again.
    I would greatly appreciate any help on this issue as this is my work computer. I do have full backups via Time Machine so I can reinstall, but I'm hoping there's another solution.

    I just started a discussiion related to this topic in "Mac Pro."
    https://discussions.apple.com/message/25019730#25019730
    " I have a 2009 dual quad core Mac Pro (4.1) with an upgraded Radeon 7950 GPU. I use a 30" Apple Cinema display (DVI) and  a 27" LED Cinema Display (Display Port). After updating to 10.9.2, the Mac would not boot, but went on a continuous re-boot cycle every 5-10 minutes without a flicker of life in either display. I unplugged both displays and the Mac booted. I could log in remotely from my laptop. I then attached the 30" Cinema Display into the DVI port and the Mac booted normally."

  • Right USB Port stops working after disconnecting device since 10.9.2

    Hi,
    Since updating to 10.9.2 the right USB port on my MBA stops working after diconnecting a device (tested: external hard drive, USB flash drive, USB HSPA Modem). The only way to get the port recognizing the device on that port is to do a restart. If the device is connected from starting the MBA it works fine, if I then eject the drive and reinsert it or a different USB device the device doesn't get recognized. The devices do get power, my WD passport ultra spins up just fine, the USB HSPA modem also indicates it's working (with signal) but nothing shows up in finder or diskutility. If the modem is connected from start (and thus working) and then disconnect from the internet but not remove the drive I can reconnect to the internet. The problem only occurs after disconnecting the device. The port becomes inactive. The left USB port works as expected.
    Steps I've taken:
    Disk Persmission
    PRAM
    SMC
    Reapplied the 10.9.2 update
    Sent feedback to Apple

    It's an Apple Pro keyboard and mouse, the dongle is
    plugged into the Mac and not the keyboard. The same
    set-up is, and has been working on all our other
    Macs.
    The sleep issue sounds interesting- hum, maybe...
    Is your keyboard plugged into one of the USB connections on an Apple monitor? If so, you may want to change that connection to one that is on the G5 itself. My monitor came with a warning note indicating that problems will likely occur if the keyboard is connected to the monitor.
    I also had a problem with the automatic sleep function. After much trouble-shooting and a logic board replacement, it was concluded that coming out of the automatic sleep function with any USB device active would freeze the entire USB bus. After disabling automatic sleep in system preferences, I've had no freezing problems. My machine works fine with the manual sleep function in the Apple Menu.

  • After updating my I pad, I have problems with getting new apps. After filling in my Apple Id, I fill in my  3 secret questions. But than I get à Message that this session had to break of, without results.

    Alter updating my IPad, I have problems getting new apps. After filling  in my Apple Id, and answer my 3secret questions, I get THE answer that this session had to be ended without results.

    Wow ! I got it running again ! :-)
    I called support and got helped by a very friendly guy:
    We tried serveral things, what worked for me was to reset my cookies:
    - Close all apps by doubleclicking the "home" button - you see all running apps in the lower part of the screen. Then click an hold the first icon until it starts "shaking". Klick the small minus, proceed like that until the row is empty.
    - Go in to the control center (don't know what it's called in english, in swedish it's "Inställningar")
    - Klick the tab "Safari"
    - Klick on Clear cookies and data ("rensa cookies och data")
    - Close the control center and start App store
    If you now try to download an app you still get the request for the three safety-questions, but when filling them in it works and you can proceed after that. The questions will not turn upp again afterwards...
    Good Luck !
    Other things we tried was:
    - disconnecting the wifi and restarting it
    - log out from app-store (in control center, tab "itunes and appstore")

  • HDMI does not come back after disconnect

    Hello Archers,
    this one is bugging me for a while now, perhaps someone has an idea.
    I have a headless ARCH home server that mainly has the following purposes:
    1. being a 24/7 file/backup/ssh server for family and friends
    2. being an MPD server connected to my music system
    The setup may seem a bit exotic. The computer is connected to the music system via HDMI over an S/PDIF audio extractor to the music system. This is because the machine replaced a RaspberryPi that really had crappy analog audio output and my music system has an optical input and can perform the digital to analog conversion itself. I have not installed Pulse just alsa and jack2-dbus.
    aplay -l shows the following:
    **** Liste der Hardware-Geräte (PLAYBACK) ****
    Karte 0: PCH [HDA Intel PCH], Gerät 0: ALC887-VD Analog [ALC887-VD Analog]
    Sub-Geräte: 1/1
    Sub-Gerät #0: subdevice #0
    Karte 0: PCH [HDA Intel PCH], Gerät 3: HDMI 0 [HDMI 0]
    Sub-Geräte: 0/1
    Sub-Gerät #0: subdevice #0
    The Problem:
    Whenever I switch off the music system and later switch it back on, the HDMI-connection is lost and does not get reestablished. I tried various things but essentially only a reboot of the machine helps (which opposes purpose 1 of the machine). On the RaspberryPi I did not have that problem, probably due to the hdmi_force_hotplug=1 in /boot/config.txt.
    My Observations so far:
    The first problem that made the sound disappear was the screen blanker on the console after 10 minutes. This can be prevented with
    setterm --term linux --blank 0 >/dev/tty1 # You need write permission on /dev/tty1 for this to work!
    There are no appearant error or warning messages when using e.g. aplay or speaker-test, just no sound at all
    There are tipps in the forums/the internet sugesting to disable power management on the display involving xset and xrandr. However, I have no X running and the tools complain that they cannot find/open the display
    In /proc/asound/PCH/codec#2 I find the HDMI codec to show the following as long as it is connected after a reboot:

    I figured that the problem is probably related to powermanagement, so I experimented with powertop. This resulted in a reduced consumption of 1W when idle, which is nice but did not solve the original problem...
    The Questions
    Is there a way to completely reinit the HDMI subsystem just like on a reboot?
    Is there an option comparable to hdmi_force_hotplug=1 on the pi that forces the HDMI signal to stay up?
    Thank You for Your time!
    Best regards,
    Lars

    I can confirm what zofiel said. I have tested it by connecting a TV and HDMI reactivitated by switching from X to console. However, this option only works one time and requires X running in the first place, which I usually have not on a headless server, but it made me think: Obviousely the X server needs to activate the graphics in the first place. Then I came up with an idea for a really messy work around. I could try to remotely start X. Normally, this is not possible and you get:
    % startx
    /usr/lib/xorg-server/Xorg.wrap: Only console users are allowed to run the X server
    xinit: giving up
    xinit: unable to connect to X server: Connection refused
    xinit: server error
    You can force it to work:
    sudo startx
    You get lots of error messages, but HDMI audio is back, even if one kills the X process afterwards with Ctrl+C (Audio stops, but resumes two seconds later). The downside is that starting X with sudo messes up permissions with the x related files in your home directory and you will have problems to use startx afterwards, so it is probably better to use su instead of sudo. If root does not have a properly configured .xinitrc file then one can also just execute the desktop environment directly e.g., for XFCE:
    su - root -c "startxfce4"
    Then kill it with Ctrl+C and you should have HDMI Audio working.
    So now I could pack this in a script followed by some command to kill it, but, well, it is an ugly workaround
    Is there really no better way?

  • Getting a for loop inside a while loop

    I've been having problems with the code below. I'm trying to get the 'while' loop to work so that the program will continue to run after a user types in a sentence. This is supposed to print out how many times a letter has been typed when a sentence has been put in, but it's not working right. It just keeps adding the first sentences numbers together even when a new sentence is typed out. I don't know what I'm doing wrong with this 'while' loop.
    import java.util.Scanner;
    import java.util.*;
    public class Count
    public static void main (String[] args)
    String phrase; // a string of characters
    int countBlank; // the number of blanks (spaces) in the phrase
    int length; // the length of the phrase
    int countA = 0; // the number of a's in the phrase
    int countT = 0; // the number of t's in the phrase
    int countE = 0;
    int countS = 0;
    char ch; // an individual character in the string
    Scanner scan = new Scanner(System.in);
    // Print a program header
    System.out.println ();
    System.out.println ("Character Counter");
    System.out.println ();
    // Read in a string and find its length
    System.out.println ("Enter a sentence or phrase ('quit' to quit): ");
    phrase = scan.nextLine();
    length = phrase.length();
    // Initialize counts
    countBlank = 0;
    // a while loop to allow user to keep entering phrases
       while (true)
       String line=scan.nextLine();
              System.out.println("Type quit to quit or enter a new phrase.");
         if(line.equals("quit"))
    break;
    // a for loop to go through the string character by character
    // and count the blank spaces
    for(int i = 0; i < phrase.length(); i++)
    ch = phrase.charAt(i);
    switch (ch)
    case ' ': countBlank++;
    break;
    case 'a':
    case 'A': countA++;
    break;
    case 't':
    case 'T': countT++;
    break;
    case 'e':
    case 'E': countE++;
    break;
    case 's':
    case 'S': countS++;
    break;
    // Print the results
    System.out.println ();
    System.out.println ("Number of blank spaces: " + countBlank);
    System.out.println ("Number of A's: " + countA);
    System.out.println ("Number of T's: " + countT);
    System.out.println ("Number of E's: " + countE);
    System.out.println ("Number of S's: " + countS);
    System.out.println ();
    }

    Ok well I don't really understand what you're saying, but here's an improved version of my code and I can get it to work, but I don't know how to turn the "do while" loop into just a "while" loop.
    import java.util.Scanner;
    public class Count3
         public static void main (String[] args) {
              String      phrase;           // a string of characters

              int      countA=0;
              int      countE=0;
              int      countS=0;
              int      countT=0;
              String quit = new String("quit"); //String wasn't initialized
              Scanner scan = new Scanner(System.in);
              // Print a program header
              System.out.println ();
              System.out.println ("Character Counter");
              System.out.println ();
              do { //do-while loop
              // Read in a string and find its length
              System.out.println("Enter a sentence or phrase, or type \"quit\" to quit: ");
              phrase = scan.nextLine();
              length = phrase.length();
              // a for loop to go through the string character by character
              // and count the blank spaces, a's, e's, s', and t's
                   for (int i = 0; i <= length-1; i++) {
                        ch = phrase.charAt(i);
                        switch (ch) {
                             case ' ': countBlank++;
                             break;
                             case 'a':
                             case 'A': countA++;
                             break;
                             case 'e':
                             case 'E': countE++;
                             break;

  • IPod connected to MacBook, getting nothing but "do not disconnect"....

    I've been searching the forum, manuals, troubleshooting, etc., and haven't come across any solution yet. Or even this particular problem described or experienced. I wonder if anyone might have an answer, or steer me the right direction. I am new to this stuff, please bear with me.
    My iPod nano has power, the screen lights up, battery icon shows fully charged, but one second, or maybe less, after it's connected to the computer, the only thing I get is the 'do not disconnect' warning message. No action, not even a pulsating battery icon. (It does that, right, when it's charging?) Even after 20 minutes, with the battery icon on the 'pod screen showing a fully charged battery, I don't get anything on the iPod screen, just the 'do not disconnect'.
    I did many resets with the hold and menu and center buttons, and even a restore for the iPod, losing the little music I had on it, and still, the 'do not disconnect' is all I get. I have been closing iTunes and ejecting safely (I believe) via the finder. Remotely, it turns on, though I have nothing on it to listen to now. A few more tries at connecting to the computer, but still all that shows is the 'do not disconnect' message, and I can't do anything.
    I've had the computer and iPod a little over two weeks. A few days ago, I did update the latest iTunes software, and today was the first time to connect the iPod since then, if that might have something to do with this and maybe solving it. Everything was fine up till today. Now, I'm kind of stuck here.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks

    It's perfectly normal behaviour. When the iPod is connected to the computer you will always see the "do not disconnect" screen.
    If you have your iPod set to transfer your music manually, then that “do not disconnect” message will continue to be displayed on your iPod until you manually eject it.
    You can do this by clicking on the iPod 'eject' icon in the lower right hand corner of iTunes or the eject icon to the right of the iPod in iTunes. With a Mac, you can also drag the iPod into the trash.
    If you have your iPod set to automatically sync with iTunes version 7 or later, connect the iPod and when you see the summary screen, uncheck the box marked "enable disk use".
    If you are using an earlier version of iTunes, right click on the iPod in the source list, select options and uncheck the same box.
    In future your iPod should automatically disconnect after it’s finished transferring music.

  • IPod Nano (4th Generation) switches on when connected to USB power - shows Menu & hangs (unresponsive to click wheel) - deems off after 5-sec - Switches off after disconnecting from USB Power - syncs with iTunes - Tried 5R's - Problem still persists

    1. The iPod Nano (4th Generation - 8GB) switches on, only when connected to USB power by showing apple logo and displays Menu options thereafter..
    2. However, I can not access Menu as it is unresponsive to click wheel. As a result it is inaccessible to any further use,
    3. NOTE: it displays "Battery Fully charged" icon on the screen without any "Lock" icon.
    4. After  5-sec to 10-secs the screen deems off.. i.e. goes to sleep mode.. And thereafter would probably remain like that (sleeeping) for eternity!!!!
    5. It Switches off after WITHOUT DISPLAYING any Apple Logo immediately after disconnecting from USB Power.
    6. In other words, it can be switched on only through USB power in spite of battery being fully charged.
    7. Interestingly, it syncs with iTunes. It is recognised in iTunes (Latest version 11+).. Displays on screen all commands Like.. syncronising, connecting, connected,
    8. Allows to add Music, videos like a normal ipod & displays all status information in iTunes.
    9. Read Trobleshooting & Tried all 5R's. Registered, Resetted, updated & Restored to iOS 1.0.2
    10. It is now displaying to select Language in place of Menu options, with no access through click wheel, centre button whatsoever... Problem still persists
    KINDLY GUIDE ME THE SOLUTION. APPRECIATE YOUR RESPONSE in advance...

    "I get the feeling that this is a software issue that could probably be solved quite easily"
    Since you have already tried all the normal troubleshooting solutions, take the iPod to your nearest Apple Store for a *proper diagnosis.* The staff there will be able to confirm if your problem is software or hardware _*at no cost to you.*_

    Hi Frankie,
    Just place the Elapsed Time VI inside the WHILE loop, and wire the 'Time Has Elapsed' output to the conditional terminal in the lower right corner (which should be set to 'stop if true' by default).
