Is it possible to compile java files encoded in utf-8 format?

In JDeveloper you have a way to select the type of encoding u want to use with the compiler.. But there has to be other ways also

[SOLVED] Can't save UTF-8 encoded source file in IDE

I had a problem where I could not save a c++ source file from anjuta using the gtksourceview plugin, but could using the scintilla plugin. I would get an error message with "invalid byte sequence in conversion input" in the text. Eclipse CDT also would not save a modified file with a similar error message.
The fix was to uncomment the proper lines in the file /etc/locale.gen for my locale and run locale-gen as described in the Archlinux wiki article "Configuring locales."
I did not find any help for this problem using internet searches, so I thought I would document it here. Just in case someone else fails to setup their locale and runs into the same trouble.

I think so (haven't checked), but it is a really simple test xml which is not really error prone).
But the problem is a different one, because I also just tried to read a txt file with some Japanese characters into an NSString using initWithContentsOfURL.
When I print the string in the console, I only get messed up characters (the latin characters next to the Japanese are displayed fine).
It is a general problem of reading out an UTF-8 file from an url.
Spent the whole last night to google something helpful but couldn't find anything. Now I'm tired at work

javac -encoding UTF8 MyClass.java
javac -encoding utf8 MyClass.java
javac -encoding utf-8 MyClass.java
If the encoding is wrong then it produces the following error
error: unsupported encoding: XXXX
And that is not the error that you are getting. Which at the very least suggests that you are not using Sun 1.4. So it might help to know which version you are using.

Dynamic File Name depending on the Source File name

Thanks for quick reply. But i am getting error in End to End Scenarios only. If i remove the Return " " statement from the UDF, while activating it is showing the error saying like missing return statement. I also mapped to the top most node to this UDF.

Sender FTP Adapter, text mode should convert source file?

Hi !
We have a Unix file system where systems and people drop files to be captured by XI. XI runs also on another Unix system.
We configured the Sender FTP comm channel from XI to use the TEXT mode, to have converted the captured file to Unix TEXT (eol = 0x0A), no matter the format of the file used to transfer the source file to the XI polling folder.
But we noticed that TEXT or BINARY modes in sender FTP adapter works all the same, like binary.
What are we doing wrong?

No. to see the difference put a gif and give txt in file adapter you will get an error for the same file u use binary it works.
their is difference b/w these . if you use special characters like european then you need to use UTF-8 or UTF-16 or bigInidan if it is binary then you output will junk charaters for these sysmobls

DDX source file

The above example is from the commands.jsp, which is from the adobe samples directory. The exiting commands.jsp is using the <input type=file name=fileIn1> to get the value. The developer guide and the servlet.java have examples along these lines. Basically you need to construct a Document object with the file, and put that document object in the input map. Something like this pseudo-code:

I understand that the directive
<%@ page contentType="text/html;charset=UTF8" %> defines the source file encoding but obviously the include directive does something I don't understand. Any help appreciated.

The server/compiler you're using may need to see the content type of the source file you're using BEFORE it is able to process any of the code. Basically, when it gets to the<%@ include file="/page2.jsp" %> line, it doesn't know what content type it's supposed to be using yet (because it's in that separate JSP), and it pukes. You probably have to declare the content type before you can do anything else.

UTF8 source files course errors

I have source files encoded as UTF8 which compile and run fine, however JavaDoc is not happy about it. I've used:
javadoc -encoding "UTF8" -charset "UTF8" -docencoding "UTF8" myPackage
What's the correct way?

You might try spelling it with a dash "UTF-8".
I believe UTF-8 is an encoding, not a character set, so you
would use:
javadoc -encoding "UTF-8"
You would use -docencoding if you want the HTML files to
also be in UTF-8.
Please let us know how this works.

"Source File does not match XML Schema"

Using MDM 5.5 SP4 Patch 2 (Build 5.5.34.26) on a 32-bit system (WinServer 2003, Enterprise Edition SP1.
This source file and schema have been verified by SAP Tech Support and again using Altova XML Spy. The schema was loaded into MDM through the console and the source file was successfully mapped against it and the data manually imported into MDM. The customer record was then cleansed using the Data Manager and the import map was used to create an inbound port. However, when the Import Server goes to import the file using the map, the following error is dropped into the log: "Source File does not match XML Schema". Has anyone else seen this error?

You have to define the namespace in the URI field of XML Schmea in Console.
In MDM Console,
Admin -> XML Schemas -> Create XML Schema
You have to specify the namespace urn:bp:xi:up:re:cust_mdm:cmdm:pr5:100 in the URI property.

Generate xml source file for Oracle Order Capture Print Quote

Hi,
I am new to xml and need to work on creating templates for Print Quote.
I am trying to generate the xml source file for which I enabled the report in system administrator and set the output to XML and assigned to Quoting Reports responsiblity. I then assigned XML Report Publisher to the same responsiblity.
I ran the report (Print Quote) and then I am trying to run the XML Report Publisher but I cannot get the request id in the list of values.
I am able to generate xml source file for other reports like Printed Purchase Order etc.,
The view output for the (Print Quote) report is as follows:

Hi, I am in the same position - did this issue ever ger resolved by anyone. I have done a few XMLP reports successfully now using the Word add-in, but customising the Quote output differs from other standard reports.
If you look at the data definition for Quote it is a 'dummy' definition and has no XML file attached. Does anyone know how I can get the XML format for the report output?
Also the template uses XSL-FO ?!?!?! rather than RTF - not sure how to work with this, the Oracle docs are not very helpful in this regard either.
Has anyone successfully managed to customise the Quote print report? Many thanks,

I can no longer view source files in Firefox 6. This is very important for my job as an SEO consultant.

Under View I can no longer read the Source files for a webpage. As an SEO consultant this is vital for my work. Please can you restore this feature for FireFox 6.

You can also use these shortkeys:
* Web Console -> CTRL + SHIFT + K
* Scratchpad -> SHIFT + F4
* View Page Source -> CTRL + U
* Error Console -> CTRL + SHIFT + J
Check and tell if its working.

In trying to update I received this message: Firefox 3.6.3(2).dmg.part could not be saved, because the source file could not be read.

In trying to download an update I first received: "There were problems checking for, downloading, or installing this update. Firefox could not be updated because: No data was received (please try again)" It also gave a link to download manually. When I tried from the Firefox website I got: /Users/(deleted for privacy)/Desktop/Firefox 3.6.3(2).dmg.part could not be saved, because the source file could not be read.
Try again later, or contact the server administrator. I tried this 3 times.

Windows Easy Transfer (WET) Issues with External Hard Drive - "Can't read from the source file or disk"

I work for Office Depot, in the tech department. Basically, one of our associates was supposed to do a data backup, and re-install Windows 7, then transfer the files back. He used Windows Easy Transfer and compacted everything into a 163 GB file.
Now comes the hard part. When we try to put it back on his computer ((drag-and-drop to the desktop) which has been wiped back to factory settings using the recovery partition), it stops at 79.5 GB remaining (you know how it doesn't give you a % of completion,
it just shows how many GB are remaining) and then says "Can't read from the source file or disk" and gives you an option to try again, or cancel. It gets hung up on the same point each time.
Normally, this wouldn't be a huge issue, but the contents on the drive are his wife's architect blueprints and interior design stuff, along with wedding photos, etc, which are the only copies they have. On top of those, they have court documents and other
important files that we are unable to access now.
I wasn't involved with this transfer, so I'm trying to clean up the mess as best I can. I remembered that the customer's wife was Russian, and had some files typed with a Russian keyboard, so on and so forth. I wonder if that's the issue? If not, I really
have no idea how to manually extract things from a ".mig" file, or how to diagnose what area is potentially corrupted.
In light of this situation, we tried using "Recuva" to recover the files post-wipe, but everything was corrupted or unable to be opened, and it also extracted and recovered all of the "useless" photos, such as the skype logos, up and
down arrows for browsers, etc (it was 160,000+ photos).
Trying to avoid a potential lawsuit, unhappy customer, and costing the company lots of money to see if professionals can get into this external hard drive.
Other relevant information:
We used a Toshiba 500 GB (465 GB) external hard drive.
Customer's computer is an HP Pavilion P6000 Series (Model No. p6520y) running Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit Service Pack 1.
Any other information that is needed can be provided, thanks in advance, and hopefully we can find a solution to this issue quickly!

Unplug from new, head back to new, plug it back in? That doesn't make much sense! Haha.
I knew what you meant though, somewhat. When I search through the drives after clicking yes (Has windows easy transfer
already saved your files blah blah blah) I click on the transfer file and it says "Windows Easy Transfer could not open the file".
Rather than drag-and-drop the file to the desktop, I now tried to double-click on the file itself while it was plugged
into the computer. It opened, and it started transferring until it was about 70% completed, and then an error popped up saying "WET can't open the easy transfer file, make sure your USB device is plugged in or check your internet connection".
I checked, and the USB hard drive's light wasn't on. Now, I unplug it and plug it back in, and the light comes back on,
so I click Retry, and it resets the bar back to nothing and says "Transfer time: 1 minute".
Rather than continue trying, I clicked "Cancel" instead of Retry, and it says "Your transfer did not complete successfully."
It says to click "view report" for more information, but there's no "view report button".
At the moment, I am scanning the External Drive for bad sectors using the check disk tool in properties. It's frozen
at "0 USN bytes processed".

Advance select for source file in Sender File Adapter

Hi
I am trying to utilise the parameter 'Advance Selection for source file' on a sender file adapter to pick the file from multiple folders
My problem is that this parameter that is listed on the SAP help is not getting in File accessing Parameters.
I am running PI 7.02 (NW702_07_Rel)
Service pack 07
Has anyone come across this before?
any suggestions on how to do this?

In PI7.0 the property exists. I have used it previously. I think SP was 13.

How to go for Advance selction for source file in J2SE adapter

I am doing a file to file scenario using J2SE adapter.I have to pick file from two different directory we can easily achieve it in J2EE adapter using advance selection of source file but how to proceed in case of J2SE plain adapter.Please guide me with your knowledge.

This is not possible. You need different adapters, but you can use the same interface and namespace, so there should be no issue.
