UtilityException and ConnectException

Hi
I have a J2EE Struts application that has a Swing Admin client in it. I run the command "ant client" and then I try to log in to the client and get the following exception:
orcl.mywork.util.UtilityException: Exception thrown from getService() method of ServiceLocator Class: Lookup error:java.net.ConnectException: Connection Refused:connect;Nested Exception is:java.net.ConnectException:Connection Refused:connect
What might be the problem. Could this be a classpath problem or something else?
Your help and time is very much appreciated.
thanks

The Connection is being refused. Most likely cause: no 'server' is listening on the port your trying to connect to the admin client using.

  • Failed to read WSDL - connectException and unknownHostException

    Hi Guys,
    I am starting out with a new installation of SOA Suite 10g on my local windows machine.
    I've tested out a simple BPEL process deployment and all works fine.
    My next step is to test an Invoke of an external webservice: http://www.w3schools.com/webservices/tempconvert.asmx?WSDL
    Initially I had to setup proxy of my Jdev installation to get JDev to look at this WSDL (could not validate the WSDL without this):
    Proxy: 10.176.227.40
    Port: 8080
    Exceptions: |D701341|d701341|localhost
    But when I tried to deploy the BPEL process from jDev, I got an UnknownHostException:
    BUILD FAILED
    C:\jdev10g\jdev\mywork\NetworkRailSHLApplication\Pilot2\build.xml:78: A problem occured while connecting to server "localhost" using port "8888": bpel_Pilot2_1.0.jar failed to deploy. Exception message is: ORABPEL-05215

    Make sure wsdl exists at that URL and is valid.
    After searching a bit on the forums, found out that I might have to fiddle with my HOSTS file: C:\WINNT\system32\drivers\etc\hosts
    I added the following line to my hosts file:
    127.0.0.1 localhost
    216.128.29.26     www.w3schools.com
    This time when I tried to deploy the same process, got a ConnectException:
    BUILD FAILED

    Make sure wsdl exists at that URL and is valid.
    I can visit view WSDL from my Internet Explorer with the same proxy config as mentioned above.
    I am not sure how do I get my local SOA Suite to talk to the external web service.
    Could someone point me in the right direction please?
    Thanks,
    Ravi

    weblogic.rmi.ConnectException can happen for number of reasons, can you give
    more detail on what version of WLS you are using and also a complete
    stacktrace might give you a clue to point out the reason why the connection

  • New server and/or CA certificate for connection from custom authentication

    We are running Access Manager version 72005Q4 in the Sun ONE Web Server 6.1SP5 B06/23/2005 container with java build 1.5.0_07-b03. I run a custom authentication module which checks sessions against our university single sign on system which is CAS (from Yale/Jasig). The checks are essentially https calls. All this has been working well for us for the last couple of years.
    I would like to migrate the certificate used on the university CAS system from a Verisign certificate to a wildcard certificate issued by the IPS CA in spain -- these are in most browsers but are not in the standard batch of cacerts CA's -- and are free for .edu domains.
    My other java based authentication plugins (Blackboard, custom apps etc) have worked fine once I import the certificate into the cacerts for the java container, but I'm missing something (obvious probably) about importing this certificate so that my amserver custom authentication module can connect to the CAS server once the CAS server is using the new certificate.
    Could anyone provide guidance on where I need to import this server certificate (or preferably the IPS CA) in order to allow the custom authentication module to work properly? I assume this same problem has been solved by people wishing to connect from the amserver to services with self signed certificates. For some reason I'm finding the debugging unexpectedly difficult, I'll outline some of those details below.
    Relevant things I've tried so far:
    Import both the server cert and the IPS CA into the cacerts of the java container identified in the web server server.xml /usr/jdk/entsys-j2se.
    Import the IPS CA into the web server cert8 style db via the web admin server.
    The debugging has surprised me a bit, as I'm not getting an error that is explicitly SSL related error. It almost seems like the URLConnection object ends up using a HttpURLConnection rather than an HttpsURLConnection and never gives me a cert error, rather a connection refused since there is no non SSL service running on CAS. The same code pointed to the server running the verisign cert works as expected.

    URL u = new URL(url);
    if (!u.getProtocol().equals("https"))
    throw new IOException("only 'https' URLs are valid for this method");
    URLConnection uc = u.openConnection();
    uc.setRequestProperty("Connection", "close");
    r = new BufferedReader(new InputStreamReader(uc.getInputStream()));
    String line;
    StringBuffer buf = new StringBuffer();
    while ((line = r.readLine()) != null)
    buf.append(line + "\n");
    return buf.toString();
    } finally { ...
    The fact that this same code in other authentication modules running outside the amserver (in other web containers as well, tomcat and resin for example) running java 1.5 works fine with the new CA, as well as with self signed certs that I've imported into the appropriate cacerts file leads me to believe that I'm either importing the certificate into the wrong store, or that there is some additional step needed for the amserver in the Sun Web container.
    Thank you very much for any insights and help,
    Ethan

    I thought since this has had a fair number of views I would give an update.
    I have been able to confirm that the custom authentication module is using the cert8 db defined in the AMConfig property com.iplanet.am.admin.cli.certdb.dir as documented. I do seem to have a problem using the certificate to make outgoing connections, even though the certificate verifies correctly for use as a server certificate. This is likely a question for a different forum, but just to show what I'm looking at:
    root@jbc1 providers#/usr/sfw/bin/certutil -V -n "FSU Wildcard Certificate" -d /opt/SUNWwbsvr/alias -P https-jbc1.ucs.fsu.edu-jbc1- -u V
    certutil: certificate is valid
    root@jbc1 providers#/usr/sfw/bin/certutil -V -n "FSU Wildcard Certificate" -d /opt/SUNWwbsvr/alias -P https-jbc1.ucs.fsu.edu-jbc1- -u C
    certutil: certificate is invalid: Certificate type not approved for application.
    root@jbc1 providers#/usr/sfw/bin/certutil -M -n "FSU Wildcard Certificate" -d /opt/SUNWwbsvr/alias -P https-jbc1.ucs.fsu.edu-jbc1- -t uP,uP,uP
    root@jbc1 providers#/usr/sfw/bin/certutil -V -l -n "FSU Wildcard Certificate" -d /opt/SUNWwbsvr/alias -P https-jbc1.ucs.fsu.edu-jbc1- -u C
    FSU Wildcard Certificate : Certificate type not approved for application.
    So it could be that I don't understand how to use the certutiil to get the permissions I want, or it could be that using the same certificate for both server and client functions is not supported -- though you can see why this would be a common case with wildcard certificates.
    BTW for those interested, it did seem to be the case that when the certificate failure occurred that the attempt was then made by the URLConnection to bind to port 80 in cleartext even though the URL was clearly https. I'm sure this was just an attempt to help out misformed URL, but it seemed that the URLConnection implementation in the amserver would swapped traffic over cleartext if that port had been open on the server I was making the https connection to; that seems dangerous to me, I would not have wanted it to quietly work that way exposing sensitive information to the network.
    This was why I was getting back a connection refused instead of a certificate exception. The URLConnection implementation used by the amserver is defined by java.protocol.handler.pkgs=com.iplanet.services.comm argument passwd to the JVM, and I imagine this is done because the amserver pre-dates the inclusion of the sun.net.www.protocol handlers, but I don't know, there maybe reasons why the amserver wants it own handler. I only noticed that this is what was going on when I as casting the httpsURLConnection objects to other types trying to diagnose the certificate problem. I would be interested in hearing if anyone knows if there is a reason not to use sun.net.www.protocol with the amserver.
    After switching to the sun.net.www.protocol handler I was able to get my certificate errors rather than the "Connection Refused" which is what lead me to the above questions about certutil.

  • Problem in using socket streams with encryption and decryption

    Hi,
    I am developing a client/server program with encryption and decryption at both end. While sending a message from client it should be encrypted and at the receiving end(server) it should be decrypted and vice versa.
    But while doing so i got a problem if i use both encryption and decryption at both ends. But If i use only encryption at one (only outputstream) and decryption at other end(only inputstream) there is no problem.
    Here is client/server pair of programs in which i am encrypting the outputstream of the socket in client side and decrypting the inputstream of the socket in server side.

    **** I know that the CInput tries to read some header stuff thats why i used two threads for input and output.
    Waiting for the reply.
    Thank you.

    Do not ever post your code unless requested to. It is very annoying.
    Try testing what key is being used. Just to test this out, build a copy of your program and loop the input and outputs together. Have them print the data stream onto the screen or a text file. Compare the 1st Output and the 2nd Output and the 1st Input with the 2nd Input and then do a static test of the chipher with sample data (same data which was outputted), then do another cipher test with the ciphertext created by the first test.
    Everything should match - if it does not then follow the steps below.
    Case 1: IO Loops do not match
    Case 2: IO Loops match, but ciphertext 1st run does not match loop
    Case 3: IO Loops match, 1st ciphertext 1st run matches, but 2nd run does not
    Case 4: IO Loops match, both chiphertext runs do not match anything
    Case 5: Ciphertext runs do not match eachother when decrypted correctly (outside of the test program)
    Problems associated with the cases above:
    Case 1: Private Key is changing on either side (likely the sender - output channel)
    Case 2: Public Key is changing on either side (likely the sender - output channel)
    Case 3: Private Key changed on receiver - input channel
    Case 4: PKI failure, causing private key and public key mismatch only after a good combination was used
    Case 5: Same as Case 4

    !MESSAGE Warning: EGit couldn't detect the installation path "gitPrefix" of native Git. Hence EGit can't respect system level
    Git settings which might be configured in ${gitPrefix}/etc/gitconfig under the native Git installation directory.
    The most important of these settings is core.autocrlf. Git for Windows by default sets this parameter to true in
    this system level configuration. The Git installation location can be configured on the
    Team > Git > Configuration preference page's 'System Settings' tab.
    This warning can be switched off on the Team > Git > Confirmations and Warnings preference page.

    user global configuration and to define the default location to store repositories: 'X:\'. If this is
    not correct please set the HOME environment variable and restart Eclipse. Otherwise Git for Windows and
    EGit might behave differently since they see different configuration options.

  • Trying to send e-mail using JavaMail, JBoss 5, and JNDI

    Hello there,
    Am using JBoss 5.1.0GA and JDK 1.5.0_19 on OS X Leopard.
    Created a working SendMailServlet.
    Have now decided to refactor it into two separate classes (extract out JavaMail code to a separate class and create a ServletController).
    Am also trying to use JNDI to access the connection properties in the mail-service.xml configuration file residing in JBoss.
    The Mailer class contains the reusable functionality needed to send an e-mail:
    public class Mailer {
         private Session mailSession;
         protected void sendMsg(String email, String subject, String body)
         throws MessagingException, NamingException {
              Properties props = new Properties();
              InitialContext ictx = new InitialContext(props);
              Session mailSession = (Session) ictx.lookup("java:/Mail");
    //          Session mailSessoin = Session.getDefaultInstance(props);
              String username = (String) props.get("mail.smtps.user");
              String password = (String) props.get("mail.smtps.password");
              MimeMessage message = new MimeMessage(mailSession);
              message.setSubject(subject);
              message.setRecipients(javax.mail.Message.RecipientType.TO,
                        javax.mail.internet.InternetAddress.parse(email, false));
              message.setText(body);
              message.saveChanges();
              Transport transport = mailSession.getTransport("smtps");
              try {
                   transport.connect(username, password);
                   transport.sendMessage(message, message.getAllRecipients());
                   Logger.getLogger(this.getClass()).warn("Message sent");
              finally {
                   transport.close();
    }The MailController class serves as a standard Java Servlet which invokes the Mailer.class's sendMsg() method:
    public class MailController extends HttpServlet {
         /** static final HTML setting for content type */
         private static final String HTML = "text/html";
         myapp/** static final HTML setting for content type */
         private static final String PLAIN = "text/plain";
         public void doGet(HttpServletRequest request, HttpServletResponse response)
         throws ServletException, IOException {
              doPost(request, response);
         public void doPost(HttpServletRequest request, HttpServletResponse response)
         throws ServletException, IOException {
              response.setContentType(PLAIN);
              PrintWriter out = response.getWriter();
              String mailToken = TokenUtil.getEncryptedKey();
              String body = "Hello there, " + "\n\n"
                        + "Wanna play a game of golf?" + "\n\n"
                     + "Please confirm: https://localhost:8443/myapp/confirm?token="
                     + mailToken + "\n\n" + "-Golf USA";
              Mailer mailer = new Mailer();
              try {
                   mailer.sendMsg("[email protected]", "Golf Invitation!", body);
                   out.println("Message Sent");
              catch (MessagingException e) {
                   e.printStackTrace();
              catch (NamingException e) {
                   e.printStackTrace();
    }Have the mail configuration set under $JBOSS_HOME/server/default/deploy/mail-service.xml:

    Hi Peter,
    Nice to hear from you again!
    Per your advice, this is what my mail-service.xml config file looks like now:
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
    <server>
      <mbean code="org.jboss.mail.MailService" name="jboss:service=Mail">
      <attribute name="JNDIName">java:/Mail</attribute>
      <attribute name="User">user</attribute>
      <attribute name="Password">password</attribute>
      <attribute name="Configuration">
         <configuration>
            <property name="mail.store.protocol" value="pop3"/>
         <property name="mail.transport.protocol" value="smtps"/>
            <property name="mail.smtp.starttls.enable" value="true"/>
            <property name="mail.smtps.auth" value="true"/>
            <property name="mail.user" value="user"/>
            <property name="mail.pop3.host" value="pop3.gmail.com"/>
            <property name="mail.smtp.host" value="smtp.gmail.com"/>
            <property name="mail.smtps.port" value="465"/>
            <property name="mail.from" value="[email protected]"/>
            <property name="mail.debug" value="true"/>
         </configuration>
       </attribute>
       <depends>jboss:service=Naming</depends>
      </mbean>
    </server>Now, when I restart JBoss and point my browser to:
    https://localhost:8443/myapp/sendmail
    I get this exception:
    [STDOUT] DEBUG SMTP: useEhlo true, useAuth true
    [STDOUT] DEBUG SMTP: useEhlo true, useAuth true
    [STDOUT] DEBUG SMTP: trying to connect to host "localhost", port 465, isSSL true

  • Configuring JMS and loadbalancer with SSL termination? Has Anyone done it?

    Hi all,
    I'm having a problem getting JMS or even any JNDI lookup to work with a hardware load balancer and SSL termination. Has anyone used such a configuration? The load balancer in question is a Cisco CSS 11500 Series which has an SSL module. A client communicates with the CSS over SSL, the SSL module decrypts the packets and sends it for content switching and on to WebLogic as cleartext.
    Without SSL termination everthing works fine. With SSL termination active, Web service and web content all work fine, but I can't get SSL tGetting Initial context from ms01

    Hi all,
    I'm receiving the following exception when invoking a remote method on
    a cached remote stub. This only happens if there are at least two
    nodes running in a cluster. It happens more often the more nodes are
    running.
    It seems that the exception occurs if for a call to a remote method a
    cached stub is used, and if that call is referred to a different node
    in the cluster by the load balancer than the one that the stub
    originally came from. But I'm not completely sure about that...

    No Stefan,
      I don't have SP10.
    Do I need make any new configuration on the Mail Server side or i can carry on with the existing corporate one (which I am not supposed to touch)?
    I haven't created any mail server of my own.But I want to send that file to my corporate domain or my <b>yahoo</b> domain for example.Now should I need to make any new configuration or configuration changes on my Integration Server?
    I am very much confused in this regard.I have not made any other configuration other than that of Mail Adapter and File Adapter(ie,only XI related configurations).
    I didn't even configured my own smtp server.
    This is what I have done so far.Can you please through more light on it?
    Thanks in Advance,
