UWL embedded in webdynpro

Hi All,
I was wondering if it was possible to embed UWL in AWD or show the tasks in a table ? Are there any possibilities in controlling the UWL from ABAP?
Any suggestions will be appreciated.
Regards,
Bert

The UWL exists on the Java Stack and isnt' really service enabled where you could call to get its data via APIs. You could embed the UWL iView within the same page as a Web Dynpro ABAP iView in the portal, but not directly embed it.  If you just want business workflow related tasks from the UWL, have a look at the WDA application SWF_WORKPLACE.  It is a WDA application that lets you access open workflow items.  It is sometimes used by customers instead of UWL when all they need is business workflow items.

    Could you please help me ? It's been three days I'm looking for a solution to get my Workitem ID in my Webdynpro ...

    In fact, it's quite strange, I added the menu and toolbar display and I can see that my url contains the data ...

    So ... how is it possible ?
    And the next question, how can I get the full url so I can parse it myself ?

    Hi All,
               Will eCATT be able to identify the PDF forms embedded in Webdynpro Java applications.....
    Thanks in Advance

    I think it will not. I am almost sure it will not. Any new complex screens are a challenge to eCATT. Flash, Flex and sometimes even trees.

    5.Getting error,when I click task to perform dynpro abap screen.
    6.WI_ID not been received.
    Plz let me know the solution.
    Thanks,

    Hello,
    I think you have to import the xml-file before clearing the cache again. Your new xml-file needs a higher priority then the default view.
    You have just defined a new ItemType in your new xml-file. I am not sure, but I think that you will have to define in this file also a new view for this ItemType. Because otherwise it is not defined how this new ItemType should be shown.

  • UWL Integration with Webdynpro ABAP

    Hello,
    I am creating a Webdynpro ABAP Application in which I want to create a screen(form) with various Input fields which will be entered by the user and it will have a Submit button.
    On the click of the Submit button I want to trigger a Workflow and send a workitem to the Approver. The Approver will be determined by the creator by selecting from a DropDown which will have the list of all the Approvers. How can I integrate this with UWL so that the Approver can logon to the Portal to Approve /Reject the workitem.
    Any help would be highly appreciated.
    Thanks in advance.

    you need to create the task entry in uwl xml file for your workflow task to call for an application.

    to execute a webdynpro abap application for task 12300110 below xml content in uwl configuration is required.

  • Workflow to UWL to ABAP WebDynpro ( Binding not happening)

    Hi All,
    I have created Workflow which need to be executed from UWL.
    The workitem in UWL will call a ABAP Web Dynpro application for approval Process.
    I have registered the my Task in SWFVISU and Maintained the necessary settings (Even Re-registered the new task in UWL ).
    When I click the workitem in UWL it successfully calls the ABAP webDynpro application.
    But the Parameter WORKITEM id is not transfered from workflow to Web Dynpro Application.
    I have created a parameter WORKITEMID in the Workflow and populating it at runtime. But the same is not being passed to WebDynpro Import Parameter.
    I see that WORKITEMID is initial at runtime while debugging in WebDynpro Application.
    Can you please help me to bind the WORKITEMID from Workflow to WeBsynpro or from UWL to WebDynpro??
    Thanks
    Praveen

    Hi,
    You have bind the work item id to the task?
    You have added the work item id parameter in SWFVISU?
    Can you show us the UWL XML code for your task?

    Hi,
    Will you plz provide more input on the issue. Are you able to launch other WebDynpro application from UWL. Please chekc the XML for the UWL and try work for the tag item type and check the page value.
    In the SDn you can easily find XML code for the launcher of WebDynpro Application.

  • Retrieve UWL tasks in Webdynpro

    Hi All,
    I want to list down all the tasks from UWL in to my webdynpro application.
    To achieve that Included the following Jar files in the application,
    bc.uwl.service.api_api.jar, bc.uwl.service.api_core.jar,com.sap.security.api.jar, prtapi.jar, com.sap.portal.unification.objectbasednavigationsercice_api.jar,..
    I have no errors in the code, when we try running the application , runtimeResources is getting null value. The runtime class is available under prtapi.jar.
    Followed the blog Flashy UWL
    The code is as follows,
    try
    IWDClientUser user1 = WDClientUser.getLoggedInClientUser();
    IUser epUser =user1.getSAPUser();
    IPortalRuntimeResources runtimeResources = PortalRuntime.getRuntimeResources();
    if(runtimeResources==null)
    wdComponentAPI.getMessageManager().reportSuccess("Portal Runtime NULL");
    else
    ervice uwlService = (IUWLService) runtimeResources.getService( IUWLService.ALIAS_KEY);
    UWLContext uwlContext = new UWLContext();
    IUser user = user1.getSAPUser();
    uwlContext.setUser(user);
    uwlService.beginSession(uwlContext, 20);
    IUWLItemManager itemManager = uwlService.getItemManager(uwlContext);
    QueryResult result = itemManager.getItems(uwlContext,null,null);
    int size = result.getTotalNumberOfItems();
    ItemCollection collection = result.getItems();
    java.util.List list = collection.list();
    Item item = null;
    Date date = null;
    String subject = null;
    for(int i = 0; i < 5; i++)
    if(!(i > (size -1)))
    item = collection.get(i);
    date = item.getDueDate();
    subject = item.getSubject();
    wdComponentAPI.getMessageManager().reportSuccess("item "+item);
    wdComponentAPI.getMessageManager().reportSuccess("date "+date);
    wdComponentAPI.getMessageManager().reportSuccess("subject "+subject);
    catch(Exception e)
    wdComponentAPI.getMessageManager().reportSuccess("Exp: "+e.getStackTrace());
    Can anyone help us in finding the solution, why runtimeResources is getting null value, It will be really help full.
    Thanks.

    The issue is with the user when you created it in the portal. Put Locale/language to the user in the User Administration.
    and then set it to the UWL Context:
    uwlContext.setLocale(user.getLocale());
    this should solve the problem

  • UWL application in Webdynpro Java

    Hi
    I have a requirement where I need to replicate the standard SAP UWL feature in a custom Webdynpro Java component.
    The Webdynpro Java component will be a custom screen which will have all the features of the standard UWL.
    When the users launch the Webdynpro application, he should be able to see all the notifications in his inbox and when he clicks on a particular task in his inbox, the task should perform the same things that it does when opened from UWL application. It should be able to trigger webservices or launch UI related to BPM processes.
    Please provide your suggestions on this.
    Thanks and Regards,
    Sayan Ghosh

    Hi Sayan,
    UWL apis will provide you the methods and interfaces to replicate the similar behavior of standard SAP UWL. You can read more about [UWL API|http://help.sap.com/javadocs/NW04S/SPS09/uw/index.html].
    Make sure that UWL services are started in Portal.
    There is a nice tutorial that you can refer for building UWL in webdynpro. Refer - [Accessing UWL Notifications from Web Dynpro Using UWL API|http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/802bfda2-8a85-2b10-9290-d67da32d0c01?quicklink=index&overridelayout=true]
    Hope it helps.

  • Read UWL properties in WebDynpro

    Hi,
    I have to read a couple of parameters from the UWL in WD.
    The UWL for the WD launch part is configured as follows:
    [code]   <ItemType name="uwl.task.webflow.TS91000001.PP1CLNT100" connector="WebFlowConnector" defaultView="DefaultView" defaultAction="launchWebDynpro" executionMode="default">
          <ItemTypeCriteria systemId="PP1CLNT100" externalType="TS91000001" connector="WebFlowConnector"/>
          <Actions>
            <Action name="launchWebDynPro" groupAction="no" handler="SAPWebDynproLauncher" returnToDetailViewAllowed="yes" launchInNewWindow="no">
              <Properties>
                <Property name="WebDynproApplication" value="WebDynproFromUWLApp"/>
                <Property name="WebDynproDeployableObject" value="local/WebDynproFromUWL"/>
                <b><Property name="DynamicParameter" value="wi_id%3D${item.externalType}%26wi_system%3D${item.systemId}"/></b>
                <Property name="System" value="XD1WDS"/>
              </Properties>
              <Descriptions default="launchWebDynPro"/>
            </Action>
          </Actions>
        </ItemType>[/code]
    The question is more about the dynamicParameter part.
    First I added the wi_system and wi_id to the application properties in WD.
    Then I used the following code:
    [code]     IWDWebContextAdapter adapter = WDWebContextAdapter.getWebContextAdapter();
         String wi_id = adapter.getRequestParameter("wi_id");
         wdContext.currentGenericApplicationElement().setWorkItem(wi_id);     [/code]
    I am able to retrieve the <b>wi_id</b>, but NOT the wi_system. I retrieve this parameter the same way as shown in the WD code above.
    I also used the <b>requestParameterMap</b>, but that gave me information about SaptestID, sap-css-url etc.
    Who can help me? Is the UWL dynamic parameter configured correctly?
    Sandhya

    Hello Sandhya,
    when i add more properties of name "DynamicParameter" to the xml file
    E.g.
    <Property name="DynamicParameter" value="name1=value1"/>
    <Property name="DynamicParameter" value="name2=value2"/>
    and upload the file again, just the last one of the 2 Properties get uploaded.
    The uploaded file looks like this:
    <Property name="DynamicParameter" value="name2=value2"/>
    seems like a property name has to unique.
    How did you solve that?
    cheers
    Markus

  • Attachments from Workflow to ABAP Webdynpro launched from UWL

    Hi All,
    You might have seen a recent post from me for sending attachments from ABAP Webdynpro to Workflow.
    I could do that by just calling SAP_WAPI_ATTACHMENT_ADD. I didnt have to create an instance of the SOFM object
    by passing the ATT_ID from this function module.
    Now the next task of the workflow which is sent to UWL, automatically carries the attachements in the Workitem.
    I didnt do binding from workflow container to Task container. (I dont know how!!)
    But I need to get those attachments on my ABAP Webdynpro after it is launched from UWL.
    For this I am using SAP_WAPI_GET_ATTACHEMENTS. But this FM is giving me the BOR reference.
    How do use this to get the attachments displayed on my Webdynpro as links?
    Thanks
    Deb

    Hi Debabra,
    I have similar requirement where I want to add new attachment from Webdynpro abap to workflow and again next level want to view it in UWL in another Webdynpro abap from workflow.
    I am trying to attach the document from Webdynpro to Workflow I used FM SAP_WAPI_ATTACHMENT_ADD and looks like it attached in workflow.
    Can you please tell  how the second part was solved where I want to attach document from workflow to Webdynpro abap
    Thanks,
    ST

  • Parameter Passing from UWL to WebDynpro Component

    Hi Everyone,
    I m having a small problem in parameter passing from the UWL to the Webdynpro component(EP6 SP16).
    The UWL shows a list of shopping carts and I ve configured it such that the Shopping carts open in the webdynpro application. Now the requirement is that I want to pass the shopping cart number from the workitem container and retrieve it in the webdynpro component.
    The only thing that i m able to retrieve is the work-item ID. I ve followed the documentation on help.sap.com but I m not able to figure out how to move ahead with this.The code which i m using to retrive the dynamic parameter is
    String text = WDWebContextAdapter.getWebContextAdapter().getRequestParameter("DynamicParameter");
    Can somebody please help me with this..
