V$session and v$sqlarea is interpreting in different way

I am using redhad linux 5 version. The db version is oracle11g.
I am trying to run the below shell script on the linux box
export ORACLE_SID=chf01
export ORACLE_HOME=/ora/app/oracle/product/11.1.0/db_1
export WORKDIR=/ora/app/oracle/admin/chf01/scripts
cd $WORKDIR
$ORACLE_HOME/bin/sqlplus scott/tiger@ch01 << EOF
spool sqlcapture.log
INSERT INTO scott.T_SQL_CAPTURE
SELECT MACHINE,
SQL_FULLTEXT
FROM
v$session a,
v$sqlarea b
where
((a.sql_address = b.address
and a.sql_hash_value = b.hash_value )
or ( a.prev_sql_addr = b.address
and a.prev_hash_value = b.hash_value))
commit;
spool off
exit
EOF
ERROR=`grep 'ORA-' sqlcapture.log | wc -l`
if [ "$ERROR" -gt 0 ]
then
cat sqlcapture.log|mailx -s "sqlcapture is failed" \ [email protected]
else
cat sqlcapture.log|mailx -s "sqlcapture is successful" \ [email protected]
fi
exit
here is the spool file content. v$session is interpreted as v a and v$sqlarea is interpreted as v b.
How can i fix this?
SQL> INSERT INTO scott.T_SQL_CAPTURE
2 SELECT MACHINE,
3 SQL_FULLTEXT
4 FROM
5 v a,
6 v b
7 where
8 ((a.sql_address = b.address
9 and a.sql_hash_value = b.hash_value ) 10 or ( a.prev_sql_addr = b.address
11 and a.prev_hash_value = b.hash_value))
13 ;
v b
ERROR at line 6:

SQL> spool off

Because *$* is interpreted by Linux shell. So you need to escape it. I used to escape all $ with \$ but someone in another thread posted a lovely trick. Use this:
$ORACLE_HOME/bin/sqlplus scott/tiger@ch01 << \EOF
.

  • V$session and v$sqlarea

    Hi All,
    How can i join the v$session and v$sqlarea? I am trying to find out who has executed the sql statement or still executing the statement. I think without joining with v$session its not possible.
    Is there a way to get this information?
    And I am using Oracle 10g.

    SQL_ADDRESS      RAW(4 | 8)      Used with SQL_HASH_VALUE to identify the SQL statement that is currently being executed
    SQL_HASH_VALUE      NUMBER      Used with SQL_ADDRESS to identify the SQL statement that is currently being executed
    SQL_ID      VARCHAR2(13)      SQL identifier of the SQL statement that is currently being executed
    SQL_CHILD_NUMBER      NUMBER      Child number of the SQL statement that is currently being executedFrom V$SESSION will map into the column in V$SQLAREA. There they will lose the SQL_ prefix (so HASH_VALUE and ADDRESS), but SQL_ID stays the same.

  • Handling sessions and single sign on between 2 different web containers

    I have looked at various SSO solutions but all seem to assume that the applications are all running under the same umbrella so to speak. I need to integrate 2 systems one written in Cold Fusion running under IIS (Inferior Information Server) on a WindBlows box with a new app I am writing using Struts, JSP, and Tomcat 5.5. This new app is also handling the user authentication for the entire system. If you look at the system as a whole many of the areas on the CF side do not require any authentication. By contrast all of the areas under the Tomcat container require authentication.
    I was about to set out and implement something that would try and keep track of things but I thought their might be a solution already out there. However I am not sure if there is one that fits my needs.
    I was thinking of using a logon cookie or something like that.
    Any thoughts?

    Well you have 2 options, although before that I will assume here that you can successfully login to both systems from a single account? (you don't need a different username /password??).
    1) Local Intranet - Automatically Login with current Username and Password
    This is an option for intranet / internal systems. Assuming users are currently logged into their workstation using the same credentials that they want to login to the web application.
    You can basically just set a browser option (in Internet Explorer it in under Security Settings) so that users will be automatically logged in to the web app using their current username / password.
    2) SSO through Reverse Proxy (ISA / TMG)
    This option will be required for any other scenario, basically using a publishing and authentication gateway (such as ForeFront TMG, the new version of ISA).
    You would use this to publish your SharePoint sites (using TMG as a reverse proxy offering pass-through authentication). Basically you would authenticate the users in TMG (using the built-in login forms) and TMG would then pass-through the credentials to
    the back-end web applications, logging them in as the request is passed through.
    Other advantages to this approach is that you can also use TMG for off-box SSL termination, so you can run your SharePoint sites in HTTP but still have a secure web-> firewall connection.

    Hi,
    Pl check se16- table bkpf.
    Should be the one here.
    BLDAT is document date and
    BUDAT is posting date.
    In FBL5n / Fb03 u could do a F1 and display technical settings to ensure you compare same with same.

  • HT2515 I have iChat on an iBook G4, and I think it is a different way to make an account. Can someone tell me how to make an iChat account on an iBook G4??

    Help!!

    Hi,
    From iChat 3 to iChat 6 and then Messages  the basics have remained the same.
    I have a G4 tower and it came with OX 10.2 and soon after that iChat was released in it's AV form (iChat2)
    The Tower can run everything up to Leopard (OS X 10.5.8) and therefore iChat 4.0.9.
    You haven't actually said which version you are running.  (OS or iChat)
    In the Applications folder you have highlight the app and then do a Get Info (Apple key + i key together ( or ⌘ + i) )
    This will tell you the version of iChat you have.
    If it is iChat 3 or 4 it will be able to join the AIM and the Jabber services.
    As  Starting point you can register for AIM names here.
    You have to enter a real First and Last name and then Test a Screen Name and add and confirm a Password.
    You will need to use a recovery email and list answers to Security questions for Password Recovery and the like.
    Apple Isssued IDs can also be be valid AIM names but due to recent changes in Lion (iChat 6) and Messages there can be issues with using them in earlier versions.
    If you have an @mac.com ID this will work in any version of iChat and Messages providing your password is 16 characters or Less (An AIM server limit)
    In IChat 6 and Messages the iCloud Issued IDs are held on a different server and as a Check the application logs into AIM and to Apple. The login to Apple then lets AIM "read" the password.
    These are the IDs ending in @me.com and @icloud.com  (these will not work in iChat 5 or earlier)
    SInce iChat 3 you can also use Jabber IDs.
    GoogleMail IDs that have had the Talk option enabled (In Products) can be used as a Jabber ID (referred to as Google talk)
    Facebook IDs that have had "Chat" enabled are also valid IDs
    There are many other Jabber servers around the world.
    These are an interlinked network of Private and Public servers.
    Since iChat 4 the Adding of Googletalk IDs has had it's own selection (it is due to Google not following a general rule of thumb over server names)
    Once you have an ID or screen name you want to set up then you need to do the following.
    Open iChat.
    Go to the iChat Menu > Preferences > Accounts
    At the bottom of the list on the left click the + icon
    In the new pane click the top item to show the drop down options.
    Broadly speacking they are in two groups ("AIM" and "Jabber")
    The AIM subset will likely offer you @mac.com, MobileMe and AIM
    The Jabber Subset should offer Jabber and possibly Google depending on Version.
    The MobileMe option will not work for @me.com addresses as these have moved server for Verification of the password.
    As I said above the @me.com name and the @icloud.com names will not work in iChat 3, 4, or 5)
    The @mac.com option should still work but if it does not (and your password is 16 characters or less) use the AIM option but enter the ID in full.
    For Jabber IDs use the Jabber option.
    In iChat 3 you need to use this for the GoogleTalk option.
    Once you have clicked the Done button and the Buddy list has appeared for a Jabber list go to the server settings tab
    Some Jabber servers use SSL (It will automaticaly change to port 5223)
    Others do not (port 5222)
    In iChat 3 change the Google Server name to talk.google.com
    Summary
    Get an Screen Name (AIM) of Jabber ID
    Open the app and go to the Accounst part of the Preferences
    Click the + icon
    In the new pane select the most suitable option in the top item drop down.
    Change server settings on Jabber accounts if required.

  • Clarification in V$SQL and V$sqlarea

    Hi Gurus, I have a clarification in V$SQL and V$sqlarea. Is it possible to get the entire set of SQL commands that are executed or run for particular session irrespective of the number of commands that are executed during the session. And can this result be got in a text file.
    thanks in advance.

    Hello,
    with execute dbms_system.set_sql_trace_in_session(session_id, serial_id, {True | False}) you can activate SQL tracing for a specific session. SQL Trace will generate a trace file in udump. With TKPROF you can format the output.
    If you want to trace your session: ALTER SESSION SET SQL_TRACE = TRUE

  • Toplink session and UnitOfWork synchronization problem

    Dear forum readers,
    I am not sure i fully understand the way how toplink deals with caching. To me it seems, that i got some pretty scary results, which i am not sure how to interpret and to work around them.
    The following code snippet is part of a unit test:
    >>>>>>>>>>>> snip >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
    1 public void test2() {
    2
    3 UnitOfWork uow = (UnitOfWork) SessionManager.getSessionManager().getSession().getUnitOfWork();
    4 Justitiabele justitiabele = findJustitiabele("findById", Justitiabele.class, new Long(551));
    5 ((JustitiabeleIdentiteit) justitiabele.getJustitiabeleIdentiteiten().iterator().next()).setMeisjesnaam("Kettner10");
    6 Justitiabele tmp = (Justitiabele) uow.registerObject(justitiabele);
    7 ((JustitiabeleIdentiteit) tmp.getJustitiabeleIdentiteiten().iterator().next()).setMeisjesnaam("Kettner10");
    8 uow.commitAndResume();
    9 }
    10
    11 public Justitiabele findJustitiabele(String queryName, Class objectClass, Object param) {
    12      SessionWrapper toplinkSessionWrapper = getSession();
    13      toplinkSessionWrapper.getClientSession().executeQuery(queryName, objectClass, param);
    14 }
    >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> snip <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<
    I am querying a particular object (line 4). Then i make some changes to that object (line 5). Cause the object is not registered in the UnitOfWork these changes shouldn't be persisted. So far so good. To achieve persistency i now register the object, and i make the same modifications to the toplink clone, expecting them after the commit to be persisted in the database.
    Contrary to my expectations, the changes were not persisted!!!
    Deleting line 5 (the modifications, before registering the object), leads to the desired result.
    Somehow the queried object seems to be a direct reference to the (client-) session cache. So when registering the object in the UnitOfWork, the (already modified) backupclone is copied from the session cache to the UnitOfWork. If the same changes are done to the working clone,there are no differences between backup- and working clone and no changes are made in the database.
    It gets even better: I tried to query the object again (before line 6) (even with a different UnitOfWork) before modifying it, in order to retrieve the original state of the object, but again i only was able to find the modified object.
    If the queried object indeed is a reference to some cache, i cannot understand, why that cache is not read only!!!
    Am i doing something wrong ?
    Is there a way to work around this problem?
    What are the consequences for transaction handling ? What about Isolation, when clients can see each others changes in a kind of writeable shared session???
    I try to work around that problem by registering every object, that is queried from the database in the UnitOfWork right after it was queried. This seems to me the only solution, though this is contrary to what the toplink developers guide says, namely, that only objects which are modified should be registered, due to performance reasons.
    I would be grateful to any help in understanding and working around this problem.
    Martin

    Mark,
    The object returned from any query on the sessions is the object from the shared cache. Any changes made to this will change the shared cache.
    You must acquire a UnitOfWork and register the cached object into the UnitOfWork in order to get an isolated copy that can be modified within a transactional context (UnitOfWork) without other threads seeing these transient changes. The typical approach is to read through the session and register objects involved in a change prior to modifications.
    The is a UnitOfWork paper available on TopLink technical information page that may be useful to you:

  • Determine blocking sessions and blocked sessions in 9iR2

    Hi,
    Running 9.2.0.7 on Solaris 2.
    We are trying to develop a query that can show us the blocked sessions and the session causing it. I have one working for 11 but for 9i, its a little more trickier. I am running these two so far:
    select s1.username || '@' || s1.machine || ' ( SID=' || s1.sid ||
           ' )  is blocking ' || s2.username || '@' || s2.machine || ' ( SID=' ||
           s2.sid || ' ) ' AS blocking_status
      from gv$lock l1, gv$session s1, gv$lock l2, gv$session s2
    where s1.sid = l1.sid
       and s2.sid = l2.sid
       and l1.BLOCK = 1
       and l2.request > 0
       and l1.id1 = l2.id1
       and l2.id2 = l2.id2;
    select do.object_name,
           row_wait_obj#,
           row_wait_file#,
           row_wait_block#,
           row_wait_row#,
           dbms_rowid.rowid_create(1,
                                   ROW_WAIT_OBJ#,
                                   ROW_WAIT_FILE#,
                                   ROW_WAIT_BLOCK#,
                                   ROW_WAIT_ROW#)
      from gv$session s, dba_objects do
    where sid = 543
       and s.ROW_WAIT_OBJ# = do.OBJECT_ID;Reason I need this is that lately we have been getting a lot of DEADLOCKS and we want to determine why this is happening a lot now and we want to start with who it is and what objects are causing it....any suggestions?

    mbobak wrote:
    There are a few critical pieces to interpreting a deadlock trace file. First, to be clear, you're getting ORA-00060, not ORA-04020 (which is a library cache deadlock), correct?
    If so, the tracefile will contain a deadlock graph. This will show the type of enqueue involved (TM or TX are the likely candidates), and the modes that locks and requests are being made.
    Then, there's the SQL which encountered the deadlock, and finally, the other SQL involved in the deadlock.

  • Problem with Sessions and window.open

    Hi,
    Hi everyone,
    Help Please!!!
    I am working with Sevlet session objects and HTML forms and windows. I have an HTML form for the user to supply a username and password. Once the user clicks submit I need to open another browser window that has no toolbar, no location, no status bar, etc. The user should also be able to go back to that login screen and login again and open a 2nd, 3rd, etc. instance of the application. My problem is that each application is being asigned the same sessionId. I believe it is being asigned to the main login window and thus to the other child windows it opens. Is there a way to work around this? Do I need to make the user open another browser window to login? I need to be able to let the user open multiple instances of the application with unique session ids for each.
    Any insight is GREATLY appreciated on this topic. Anything you can tell me about sessions (Java), IE, window.open would help greatly!
    THANK YOU IN ADVANCE!!!
    MA

    To achieve this, you must introduce another level of
    abstraction to the Servlet specifications. When you
    work with JSP/Servlets you use mostly the HttpSession
    to handle user related tasks, and the aplication
    context, for things that are common to all users. But
    inside the HttpSession scope, you want to create
    containers that have 'smaller' scope and are uniquely
    identified.
    A ipothetical scenario :Let's say that you must have
    multiple connections to several databases, on each
    database user rights beeing diferrent, and you must be
    able to track user actions globaly, and eventualy
    capture a 'Close Application event' and close all db.
    connections.
    1. when the user first accesses the login frame create
    the HttpSession. In the HttpSession object, store a
    Hastable (let's call it 'ConnectionTable'). Each
    object in the Hashtable must identify uniqely a
    database connection. Now, to create unique identifiers
    ids, make the keys in the hashtable java.lang.Long
    objects, created using System.getCurrentTimeMillis().
    This guaranties there will be no possible confusion.
    From each new open window, on each request to the
    server, along with the usefull parameters, send the
    connection identifier. When proccessing the request,
    select the object from the Hastable wich corresponds
    to the ID.
    2. Now, the values in the ConnectionTable, must act as
    the containers that I mentioned in the first
    paragraph. The simplest way to do this is to have
    again a Hashtable derived class to do the job, wich
    exploses methods similar to HttpSession: setAttibute (
    Object key, Object value) and getAttibute ( Object
    key, Object value). This container may use internally
    a Hashtable to store object, and explose only the
    getAttribute and setAttribute methods for clarity. Any
    way, this is a problem of implementation. Let's call
    this class CustomSession.
    Now, a textual activity diagram:
    1 user accesses the main page, you start a new
    HttpSession; In the HttpSession object, store the
    ConnectionTable object.
    2. the user enters the userID and pwd and adatabase
    name, and a new window is opened. Let's supose the
    data entered is valid.
    3. when you process the login data, you create a new
    CustomSession object. you put in it whatever you would
    put in your HttpSession. You generate a unique
    identifier using System.CurrentTimeMillis(). Put the
    CustomSession object in the ConnectionTable, using the
    generated id as key. Send the response.
    ..... later on .....
    100. the user asks for a particular action to be
    performed - e.g. a row deletion. The page contains a
    form with text field where the user introduces the
    row number, a submit button and a hidden input with
    the ID.
    101. you process the data. Get the ID from the request
    object, get the ConnectionTable from the session, get
    the CustomSession using the ID as key, do whatever
    your logic was doing, but obtaining the objects from
    the CustomSession instead of HttpSession
    NicNic,
    Very slick idea. I think that it could work and it seems that there would be not security issues because the id that you would store on the client side is the Unique Identifier and not the actual Session Id. Do you forsee any security issues for this implementation?

  • Every time I launch Firefox 4 it opens 3 or 4 blank windows, no longer opens the tabs from the previous session and does not show my bookmarks sidebar.

    I have to manually close the extra windows and restore the tabs from the previous session, and reopen the sidebar. In disgust I uninstalled Firefox 4 and reinstalled 3.6. Everything works fine in 3.6. Looks to me like Firefox 4 has many major bugs and is not yet ready for prime time. I'll stay with 3.6 for now.

    This can be a problem with the files [http://kb.mozillazine.org/sessionstore.js sessionstore.js] and sessionstore.bak in the [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder_-_Firefox Profile Folder]
    Delete [http://kb.mozillazine.org/sessionstore.js sessionstore.js] and sessionstore.bak in the [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder_-_Firefox Profile Folder]
    * Help > Troubleshooting Information > Profile Directory: Open Containing Folder
    If you see files sessionstore-##.js with a number in the left part of the name like sessionstore-1.js then delete those as well.<br />
    You will have to redo App Tabs and Tab Groups after deleting sessionstore.js.

  • Difference between connection, session and process

    Hi all,
    Can anyone please update me on the difference between connection,session and process.
    Thanks in advance,
    - Sri

    I got this useful note by googled in net. It describes session,connection,process gracefully.
    A connection is a physical circuit between you and the database.A connection
    might be one of many types -- most popular begin DEDICATED server and SHARED
    server. Zero, one or more sessions may be established over a given connection
    to the database as show above with sqlplus. A process will be used by a session
    to execute statements. Sometimes there is a one to one relationship between
    CONNECTION->SESSION->PROCESS (eg: a normal dedicated server connection).
    Sometimes there is a one to many from connection to sessions (eg: like
    autotrace, one connection, two sessions, one process). A process does not have
    to be dedicated to a specific connection or session however, for example when
    using shared server (MTS), your SESSION will grab a process from a pool of
    processes in order to execute a statement. When the call is over, that process
    is released back to the pool of processes.

  • Report in new page does not know of session and presentation variables

    I have a question about GOURL.
    I am using GOURL as a column function in one report (report A), so that when i click on that column it takes me to another report(report B) that open in new popup window.
    the first report (A) also uses some session and presentation variables, which is also used by Report B as filters. I am curious that if I add these filters which are using variables to report B, why can't report B get the value of these, (it just errors out ) because it didn't found any value to those variables in the filter.
    Becuase I am ending up with passing all these variables in GOURL and setting them as 'isprompted'.
    Does this report (B) knows nothing else than what it finds in GOURL?
    thanks

    In a nutshell, if u use gourl then its parameters will be only using in navigated report. This is functionality

    After a crash I found myself trying to "Reopen All Windows From Last Session", then I found that if I click a link from Mail it does not open it ... as well from any other application. It's like only workin' within itself and can't interact with any other application. Plus I used a lot "Reopen All Windows From Last Session" and now it doesn't work

    Same thing just happened to me. Reinstalling Saferi did not help.

    Lion 10.7.2 On both mac book pro and iMac, both with Lion 10.7.2, obtain repeated iCal event notifications from calendar or address book.  Cannot turn these off.  They repeat several times per session and every time computer is used.  How to diagnose this?

    First, uninstall "SuperTV" (whatever that is) according to the developer's instructions. It isn't working and it's filling the log with noise.
    If you have more than one user account, these instructions must be carried out as an administrator.
    Launch the Console application.
    Step 1
    Make sure the title of the Console window is All Messages. If it isn't, select All Messages from the SYSTEM LOG QUERIES menu on the left.
    Enter "BOOT_TIME" (without the quotes) in the search box. Note the timestamps of those log messages, which refer to the times when the system was booted. Now clear the search box and scroll back in the log to the last boot time when you had the problem. Post the messages logged before the boot, while the system was unresponsive or was failing to shut down. Please include the BOOT_TIME message at the end of the log extract.
    Post the log text, please, not a screenshot. If there are runs of repeated messages, post only one example of each. Don’t post many repetitions of the same message. When posting a log extract, be selective. In most cases, a few dozen lines are more than enough.
    PLEASE DO NOT INDISCRIMINATELY DUMP THOUSANDS OF LINES FROM THE LOG INTO A MESSAGE. If you do that, I will not respond.
    Important: Some private information, such as your name, may appear in the log. Edit it out by search-and-replace in a text editor before posting.
    Step 2
    Still in Console, look under System Diagnostic Reports for crash or panic logs, and post the most recent one, if any. In the interest of privacy, I suggest you edit out the “Anonymous UUID,” a long string of letters, numbers, and dashes in the header of the report, if present (it may not be.) Please don’t post shutdownStall, spin, or hang logs — they're very long and not helpful.

  • Question about BC4J data tags, Oracle sessions and Locking!

    Hi ,
    I have seen numerous examples of JSPs using data tags and in all the examples the data tag for the application module has the "username" and "password" harcoded in it.
    My questions are:
    1) For a stateful application should we be including the username and password in every JSP page. I personally believe that we should not.
    2) If we have a username and password in every JSP page will it not start a new ORACLE user session and if so will it not cause locking problems?
    3) If we don't hard code the username and password in every JSP page, will it reuse the same ORACLE session ?
    4) How do we avoid locking problems when we use data tags?
    5)I can understand the inclusion of username and password in every JSP page if it is a stateless application but again Is there a way we can avoid hardcoding the username and password in every single page?
    I would appreciate if some one can let me know if any of my assumptions are incorrect.
    JDeveloper Team/Juan any advice?

    The username and password are optional. They can be provided via the connections.properties file. The multple entries for username and password don't mean that separate connection are made. The first time the ApplicationModule tag is encountered, your application instance is created. If you are running in reserved mode (look at your releasePageResources tag) the application instance is kept until your Http session times out. If you are running in Stateful or Stateless mode, you application instance is returned to the application pool and retrieved the next time you need an instance. Please refer to the application pool documentation and to the source in oracle\jbo\common\ampool provided in jbohtmlsrc.zip.
