Validate Entity Attribute for White space

I want to validate my create form for whitespaces.
For example, in a First name column, there should not be any space in between.
That is, First name should be allowed only for "Sahar". Not for "Sahar Hassan".
Please help.

Please post the version of JDeveloper you're using when posting to this forum. You also haven't mentioned which technology but I assume you mean ADF BC.
Recommendation: regular expression validator on the EO attribute. See: http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E24382_01/web.1112/e16182/bcvalidation.htm#CHDBCICF

I have copied these TOPs to my 'D:\p6908968_R12_GENERIC\jdevhome\jdev\myprojects' directory.
Now when I have cerated one .JWS file and one .jpr under that.
Now when I tried to expand oracle.apps.irc.applicant.server it is giving the following error:

  • Search for White space within strings

    create table emp_dtl
    (empname varchar2(23));
    Insert into emp_dtl values ('WAYNE');
Insert into emp_dtl values ('JOSEPH KRUPP');     --------- has white space
Insert into emp_dtl values ('YING ZONG LEE');    --------- has white space
    Insert into emp_dtl values ('COHEN');
Insert into emp_dtl values ('MARIE');How can i search for empnames which has White space in it? From other OTN threads, I gathered that this has something to do with
chr(32)But i don't know how to put this in LIKE operator.

    Hi,
    SELECT  *
    FROM    emp_dtl
    WHERE   REGEXP_LIKE (empname, '\s')
;will look for any kind of whitespace (including spaces, which are CHR (32)).
It may be more efficient to specifically list all the different whitespace characters, and see if the string changes when you remove all of them:
    SELECT     *
    FROM     emp_dtl
WHERE     empname != TRANSLATE ( empname
                           , 'x ' || CHR (9)     -- CHR (9)  = <tab>
                                          || CHR (10)     -- CHR (10) = <newline>
                                 || CHR (13)     -- CHR (13) = <return>
                           , 'x'

  • Question on Entity attribute for table with PK populated by trigger

    Hello,
I am looking for guidance on setting up my Entity Object. I am working with an existing db where the primary keys for the tables ( ID Number(10,0) ) is populated by a trigger on insert. Should the attribute type for the ID column be Integer or DBSequence? I originally set it up as DBSequence but when I perform a CreateInsert() on the form, populate values, then Commit(), the ID value is not populated in the form. I put a ppr on the form also. I can see the row in the db using sqlDeveloper and it is populated. I tried turning on the "refresh after insert" flag on the entity but then received the exception "JBO-28203: The updated row cannot be refreshed because its key values are unset or modified by database triggers.". I would like the ID so after the form is saved I can refresh a tree control and set the current row to the new row.
    Using 11.1.1.6
    Thank you - Rudy

    Hi Timo,
Thank you for the reply. I read the doc and that is how I had it setup originally. Two things I noticed when going to check the settings was that DBSequence was not available as a data type so I needed to Browse.. to select it. The 2nd thing was that the refresh on create was not automatically selected after selecting DBSequence. I searched a bit more and found this forum discussion:
auto_increment field From that discussion I see my problem. I created my EO's using SQL92 and Java because I need to support both Oracle and MSSQL Server databases.
This is unfortunate from my end so I will see if I can implement something similar to what is suggested in that post.
    Thank you
    Rudy

  • Scan From String White Space

    i all,
I'm trying to use Scan From String in order to parse some data coming in from UDP.
    Input String: ASCII [00 01 02 03 ... FF]
    What I want: s[00 .. 30]  d[12], d[34], d[56] leftover s[37 38 39 ... FF]
    ATTEMPT1
    Format String: %49s%2d%2d%2d
What I get: s[00-09] RUNTIME ERROR!
    ATTEMPT2
    Format String: %49[^]%2d%2d%2d
What I get: Only allows first output. Will error out if I use any additional outputs from Scan From String
    ATTEMPT3
Format String: %49[^(0xFF)]%2d%2d%2d Value in () is ASCII character FF.
    What I get: s[00 .. 30] d[12], d[34], d[56] leftover s[37 38 39 ... FF]
It appears as though when I use %##[^] it thinks I'm looking for the ENTIRE string so it will not let me add any more Formatting.  If I add a delimiter other than ^ it will run, and it will work presuming that character isn't within the first 49 characters... and I can't guarentee that it won't.
I'm aware I can parse my string using subsets and whatnot... but Scan From String is so elegant.  It would be great if %S allowed for white space... or if $##[^] would simply take the first ## characters and allow me to Format after that.
Is there a simple, elegant way to do this?  I wish my dataset was only 3-4 outputs. It'd be ideal if I could.  Thanks.
    Edit:
It might be more helpful if I provide a less abstract example:
I have an ASCII Header (Finite Length String), a Sender IP (Finite Length String), a Timestamp, a Message ID (Finite Length Decimal), A Message in ASCII ( '1' actually means 0x31, not 0x01)  And for some ungodly reason... no delimiters.
So I was HOPING %##s%##s%<%H:%M:%s>t%##d   (With leftover string to be my message)  would work, but if any white space is contained within there... it messes up.

I cannot provide exact strings because the string is actually ASCII characters, most of which aren't displayable.
    I have a string where I have:
24 ASCII Characters representing 6x U32 Header Data
13 ASCII characters represening the sender IP (string)
12 ASCII Characters representing the name of the message (String)
    12 ASCII Characters representing 3x U32 Data
12 ASCII Characters represneting the name of packet (String)
    12 ASCII Characters representing 12x U8 Data
    256 ASCII Characters represening 256x U8 Data
    etc...
It would be ideal to simply Scan from the string and output the data with the appropriate data types already assigned instead of splitting string and type casting each individualy.  But if, for example, my header starts with an ASCII representation of a U32 of 2560(decimal) it would look like this:  [00][00][0A][00].  ASCII 0A is considered white space.  So my header would only contain 2 ASCII characters instead of the desired 24.

  • Query return/wddx with white space

i have a query return i am looking at which i will send it to
another program but for some reason this is coming with some white
    space. i have following questions.
if i make changes on the admin console for white space
management do i need to reboot.
i am trying to use cfsetting but it is still producing some
white spaces at the beginging. when i see the source.

The CF admin setting helps but does not completely solve
whitespace issues. (Look at the source for these forum pages, for
    example..)
Also, beware of people who tell you to strip the whitespace
off after the fact by manipulating CF output as though it were a
    string.
Put this at the top of your Application.cfm or
    Application.cfc:
    <CFSETTING EnableCFOutputOnly = "yes">
This means that nothing makes it to the page unless it is
inside <CFOUTPUT> tags or in WriteOutput ().
This is good practice anyway because it encourages you to
separate output code from logic and makes you more conscious of
    whitespace as you code.
Finally, for XML to some programs or the <DOCTTYPE>
declaration to IE know that the output must be immediately after
the first <CFOUTPUT> with no whitespace of any type.
    IE:
    <CFOUTPUT><?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
    works but
    <CFOUTPUT>
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
    doesn't.

  • White space management gone on reboot

I have a strange problem here. Anytime we reboot our server,
the setting we have selected (on) for white space management in the
CF admin disappears. We can re-enable it easily of course, this is
just a mystery we would like to solve. Any ideas?
    Server Details
    Server Product ColdFusion MX
    Version 7,0,2,142559
    Edition Standard
    Operating System Windows 2003
    OS Version 5.2

I have noticed that numerous settings in my cold fusion
administrator are reset each time The server is rebooted or the
Cold Fusion service is restarted. These include white space
management, global script protection, and specific settings that
are needed to individual dsn settings. These can not all be
resolved by adding processing directives to the application.cfm. Is
this issue related to the fact that my only interaction with my
server is through a terminal services (RDP) connection?

  • Less white space for Insert image

Eliminate some vertical white space on the Insert Image window.
Sometimes this large window runs off the bottom of my browser window.  I have to scroll down past all the vertical white spce to click on the insert image button.

if all you need is have mapviewer render the style and place it next to your theme control, you can probablly just issue a regular map request with only 1 feature and specify the style to be used on that feature. For instance, if you just want to show the M.STAR marker style, you can issue a request containing only the center point and specify the render style for the center point as M.STAR. you can also specify the exact width/height you want for the final 'map'. Yes if you issue a legend-only request mapviwer adds white space to it and ignores the width/height attributes.
finally, we will add your last two items into our wish list. thanks.

  • DBSequence type no longer available for entity attributes?

I'm puzzled by this, if not scared.
Every version of JDev till 11.1.1.2.0 has had out-of-the-box support for DBSequence as an entity attribute type.
When you set it for your PK, JDev disables a few options, automatically sets "refresh after insert" (and maybe other stuff) and handles everything about it.
Now, I see that in new applications created with 11.1.1.2.0 that option is no longer present...!
It's available only for apps migrated from previous versions.
If you create a new application, you no longer have DBSequence in the Type dropdown.
Here's what the documentation (Oct 2009 DevGuide, par 4.10.10) says:
In the Edit Attribute dialog, you can set the value of the Type field to the built-in data
type named DBSequence and the primary key will be assigned automatically by the
database sequence. Setting this data type automatically selects the refresh after Insert
checkbox.Where on Earth is this built-in data type named DBSequence in Jdev 11.1.1.2.0?

    Thanks Paul.
It seems JDev broke my application.
It only shows the native Java types in the dropdown, and does not show any of the Oracle types including Number, DBSequence and all the rest.
(Note that all the connections I work with use the Oracle type map, of course - it's automatic.)
I tried a new quick test with a new application and again, no Oracle types, just the java types.
Then closed and reopened my applications as well as JDev and I can now see all the types in my quick test.
However, my original application still "sees" no Oracle types, it's stuck with the Java types.
I'll try to see if I can repair it in some way... I'll eventually put it down as one of the gazillion one-time bugs that JDev shows daily.

  • White space around image when doing Save for Web

Say I draw a simple square in Illustrator CS6 then export it to a PNG using Save for Web. The preview shows 1px thick of white space on the right side. Sometimes it's on 2 sides or more.
No other hidden elements are around the image. Clip to artboard in not clicked.
Why does this happen and how do we get rid of it?

For once I get to answer a post and say somehting good about align to pixel grid.
    Turn it on
Your image will now align to the pixel grid
Turn it off when not doing web work, or will drive you mad.

  • Conditional Build Tab for image leaves extra white space

I've applied the "Print" Conditional Build Tag to an image in
my online help. When I generate the help and view it in the
browser, extra white space is inserted between the steps. For
example, instead of the steps being:
    1.
    2.
    3. etc.
    They now look like this:
    1.
    2.
    3. etc.
Why is there extra white space where the image used to be?
Thanks in advance for your help. Using RoboHelp7 -- WebHelp.
    Bill

Probably there is a paragraph break or a space that you can't
see but is not enclosed in the conditional tag.
Check the html code immediately before and after the tag.

How do i crop "out" a piece of image=ex: how it will look when its cut for a window. Crop a white space in image?

I think this will help if you are using version 11 or 12.
Make a selection with a selection tool of the area you want to remove.
Example: rectangular marquee tool - make a rectangle.
    Use Select>Refine Edge:
Use the View section of this dialog box to see a few views.
If you need to refine the edge of the selection (smooth, feather, shift, etc.) you can do that in this dialog box.
You may want to check the box about remembering your settings in case you need to come back to them.
In the Output section, you can pick New Layer with Layer Mask and click OK.
You should see the hole in your image.

  • Oracle.jbo.PersistenceException: JBO-26010: Invalid Entity Attribute Name "" specified for the View Attribute ""

    HI, I'm using JDEV 11.1.1.6.0
I am encountering this error msg on one VO
oracle.jbo.PersistenceException: JBO-26010: Invalid Entity Attribute Name "CorrespondenceAddressFlag" specified for the View Attribute "AddressDetailsVO"
I have searched for similar problems for others and have checked the relevant XML file and have seen that the entries are correct.
If I delete this attribute and add it again, the error come up for the next attribute.
Earlier the EO had a few attributes then according to further requirement changes, we add new attributes to the Table and Synchronized the EO's.
Then added these Attributes to the VO. This application Runs fine when tested in AppModule but when dropped on page, it gives the above error.

Just to confirm that this is not a Library or deployment setup problem, Now, I changed the deployment scope to include business components in the ViewController to just to be sure it was being picked up in the ViewController too. I Created a separate AppModule in the ViewController and Added the VO to it, It Ran Properly including the Addition and Commit Control.

  • Weird rectangular box replaced the white-space for san serif

I opened up a pdf that used to have a normal san serif text, but now, it has little square boxes for every spacebar spaces. The text comes out good but it's the white spaces that come up in square characters. Most other fonts don't do this but some other ones do this as well. Here is a picture of it:

    please help me.

I meant to say InDesign and not pdf. The pdf output of the indesign long ago does not have any square boxes but if I try to export the same indesign into pdf, it has the square things showing up on the pdf as well.  Anyways, the sansserif might have already existed, but my actual use of the sanserif came along with an already made CS2 template (I have CS3)from my instructor which was using the font. Everything was fine and normal (as in no square boxes) until recently when I opened the file again.
I checked the font folders in my windows system, and it has SansSerif, SansSerif Bold, SansSerif Bold Oblique, and SansSerif Oblique in truetype font just like any other font files in there.
Also this is the original CS2 template that I work on from. When I first opened this a while ago, it didn't have the weird boxes.

could it be that I've installed new fonts to my system since that time?
