VALIDATE_LAYER_WITH_CONTEXT - Rowid and NULL in result table
Hello,
Oracle 10g R2
I performed validity test using VALIDATE_LAYER_WITH_CONTEXT as follow:
CREATE TABLE RESULT_TABLE_CP(SDO_ROWID ROWID, RESULT VARCHAR2(2000));
CALL SDO_GEOM.VALIDATE_LAYER_WITH_CONTEXT('VESSEL_ZONE_GEOMETRY', 'POLYGON', 'RESULT_TABLE_CP');
What puzzled me was the result table contained the rowid and NULL as the result for each geometry. I was expecting to see what the error is, not just NULL.
However when I use VALIDATE_GEOMETRY_WITH_CONTEXT to test the same layer, I got TRUE for all of them, as:
select DISTINCT SDO_GEOM.VALIDATE_GEOMETRY_WITH_CONTEXT(a.POLYGON,b.DIMINFO)
from VESSEL_ZONE_GEOMETRY a,
USER_SDO_GEOM_METADATA b
where b.TABLE_NAME = 'VESSEL_ZONE_GEOMETRY'
and b.COLUMN_NAME = 'POLYGON'
and a.POLYGON is not null;
SDO_GEOM.VALIDATE_GEOMETRY_WITH_CONTEXT(A.POLYGON,B.DIMINFO) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
TRUE
Any suggestion would be much appreciated!
Thanks, CP
Can you get the geometry by running
select polygon from VESSEL_ZONE_GEOMETRY where rowid = '....';

Hi, there,
I am wondering how to get the table information by labview database
connectivity toolset. The table list vi comes with the toolset can get
only col name, data type and data size. And I found the the data size
always gives back -1, even though it is a string type. Do somebody has
some idea about it?
Thanks.
JJJJ,
Go into the diagrams of the DBTools List Columns and DBTools Get Properties respectively. When you inspect this diagram, you will see the raw ActiveX properties and methods called to get the size information. The value of -1 means the requested recordset is already closed. This is the sort of thing that is controled by the driver (ODBC, OLE DB, Jet, etc) you are using. Notice that you can right click on the property and invoke nodes and get more information about these specific items directly from the ADO online help.

Result table data to be populated based on selection in the result list
Hi,
We have a parent data source "P" containing all the record types. Further we have two child data sources each having filters on exclusive record types(for ex. child1 containing record types X, Y, Z and child2 containing record types A, B).
In our page we have a result list associated with data source child1(record types X, Y, Z) and result table associated with data source child2(record types A, B). There exists common attributes among the attributes present in result list and in the result table.
Rest of the containers in the page namely search, breadcrumbs, guided navigation point to the parent data source("P") containing all the record types.
Whenever we select a value from the guided navigation using the common attributes both the result list and result table are getting filtered.
What we require is that, whenever an attribute(common attribute) is clicked in the result list, the data in the result table needs to get filtered based on the value of the attribute that is clicked.
Is this possible? If so, pl. suggest how.Take a look at the Studio release notes for EID 2.4 http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E35976_01/studio.240/RELNOTES.txt a lot of little bugs like the one you describe have been resolved. If you haven't already done so you should upgrade to 2.4.

To get checkboxes in the results table of SEARCH page?
Hi,
I am trying to create a search form using 'Execute With Params', while doing this I am getting radiobuttons when I go for Enable Selections , but I want Checkboxes to be present there instead of Radio Buttons.
And also when the page is displayed I want only the search parameter to be prsent and not the results table by default. How can I do that?
Kindly tell me how can I acheive that?
Thanks,
ivaRHi,
a) create a table with no selection enabled. Then drag and drop the tableSelectMany component into the "Selection" facet of the table
b) make the default vaue of the bind variable so that no value is returned by the query. Then on the render property of the table, set #{bindings.tableIterator.estimatedRowCount>0}. This hides the table if not query is issued -
Search in Nested Tables and Insert the result into new Nested Table!
How can I search in Nested Tables ex: (pr_travel_date_range,pr_bo_arr) using the SQL below and insert the result into a new Nested Table: ex:g_splited_range_arr.

For your questions:
1) I don't want to store in the database as a nested table
2) I don't want to retrieve data from the database. Data will come from function split_date() parameter and data will be processed in the function and function will return it in nested table format. For more detail please look at the raw function SQL.

AS black_out_cnt
FROM all_dates)
SELECT start_date, end_date
FROM got_analytics
WHERE black_out_cnt = 0 AND start_date < end_date
ORDER BY start_date;I want to change the tables black_out_dates and travel to Nested Array so I can use it in a function with Nested Array travel and Nested Array black_out_dates parameters and the function will return Nested Array of date ranges.
Here is what I want in raw SQL:

Could query form and result table display at seperate pages
we are new at html db, there are a few of questions we need to clear before we make decision to use HTML DB to develop our next version of application: (I seperate them at differenct topics).
* Could query form and query result table display at differenct pages?
Thanks
Leiyeah, this is surely possible...and quite easy. you'd just set your form page up as you'd like. put a button on that page with a branch to your report page. then have your report query refer to the items you defined on the form page. so if your form page had an item called P1_JOB and P1_DEPTNO you could have your report use those items with a query like...
select ename, job, sal, empno, deptno
from emp
where :P1_JOB = job
and :P1_DEPTNO = deptno
...hope this helps,

Execute a VO '4' times and show the result in single table at once.
Hi,
I want to execute single a VO query multiple times with different parameters and show the results together in a Table at once
In Detail
I have a table to which is associated with a VO.
The VO contains SQL whose WhereClauseParameters need to be dynamically binded.say headerId and lineId
Select ... from ....where headerId = :1 AND lineId = :2
I have to pass these 4 values and show all the results in a single table
headerId lineid
H1 ............... L1
H1 ............... L2
H2 ............... L1
H2 ............... L2
I understand that i need to bind parameters dynamically and exceute the VO.
As i have 4 different set of parameters, the view object will be executed 4 times.
I want to show all the results together in a single table.
How can I do it.
thanks,
GowtamHi Mani,
Thanks a lot for the patience and detailed solution.I will try it out and tell you the status.
Meanwhile, I have 2 questions on this solution(just curious)
I will give you the snapshot of the table
Table - ModelInfo
Model......Tube..... Float....Size......Col5.....Col6.......Col7.......
M1............T1.......... F1. .....1..........C15......C16.....C17.....
M1............T1...........F1.......2..........C25......C26.....C27.....
M1............T2......... .F2.......1..........C35......C36.....C37.....
M1............T2...........F2.......2..........C45......C46.....C47.....
M2............T1.......... F1. .....1..........
M2.............T1..........F1.....2.........Cn5.......Cn6........Cn7
.<continues...>
.<till>
.Mn............Tn..........Fn.......n........Cxy.......Cpq.......Crs....
Question 1:
if you notice this data,
The Columns 5 to 7 are dependent on Combination of Model,Tube,Float and Size.
Hence will this query work properly(without mixing up data from other Pk combination) and will it be efficient?(I Know this is a stupid qst, still double checking..As your solution assumes that each row is unique for Model only..which is not true)
Select ...From....Where
Model in(M1,M2,..Mn) AND Tube in(T1,T2..Tn) AND Float in(F1,F2,....Fn) and Size in(1,2...n).
In short, will C15,C16 and C17 appear only with M1,T1,F1,1..I believe it will.
Question 2:
As I told,
Third party program will return Array of Objects.
Each object will have a variable called Flow along with
Model,Tube,Float and Size.
Flow is not stored in the database(can not be stored due to functional reasons).I want to show this Flow also along with other columns fetched from the DB for all 100+ rows.
How can I do it?
I will give u the scenario(with just 2 rows)...please check(Flow is not stored in DB)
Third Party object : ObjModel
Model......Tube..... Float....Size......Flow
M1............T1.......... F1. .....1..........100
M1............T1...........F2.......2...........200.
M1............T2.......... F1.......1..........300
M1............T2...........F2.......2..........400
My concern is,
After the VO executes and shows other 6 columns, it should show Flow appropriately.(associated with each object in the array)
I understand that I need to have a Transient attribute in VO called[b] Flow. But I don't know how to perform the two tasks simultaneously..
Task1:Your solution on showing table columns
Task2:Showing Transient data for each object returned from program.

-4000: Unknown result table and BLOB
MAXDB 7.7.07.16. SQLDBC
Hello,
I have a table with a blob.
I create a recordset, and for each row, I update the row. The resultset fetchsize is 1
If the first update statement updates the blob, the next fetch on the recordset returns the error -4000: Unknown result table
if the update statement does not update de blob, the next fetch works.
if the cursor resultset type is FOWARD_ONLY it works with de BLOB
if the cursor resultset type is SCROLL_SENSITIVE or SCROLL_INSENSITIVE it does not work with de BLOB.
Of course I need SCROLL_INSENSITIVE cursor.
For information select and update are not executed on the same connection, and I commit transaction manually.
I use SQLDBC, in the documentation i find this parameter SQLDBC::SQLDBC_Statement::HoldabilityType
1) could holdability solve my issue ?
2) how can I use it ?
enum SQLDBC::SQLDBC_Statement::HoldabilityType
Enumerator:
CURSOR_HOLD_OVER_COMMIT The result persists after a COMMIT command.
CURSOR_CLOSE_ON_COMMIT The result is closed on COMMIT.
Definition at line 2297 of file SQLDBC.h.
Thanks for any help.
YannHello,
I fix my issue. I set a cursor name for my statement and the result table is not closed anymore.

Distinguishing between empty string and null values
hi all,
I am using an ODBC connection to connect my java app to database using JDBCODBC driver. I have 2 columns 'aColumn' and 'bColumn' in my table, both allow null values. I have one row in it, which has null value in aColumn and empty string in bColumn. I retrieve this row's data and assign it to 2 columns : 'aColumnVar' and 'bColumnVar' respectively. I find out that both 'aColumnVar' and 'bColumnVar' variables has null values (although bColumnVar should has an empty string as its value). Now my ODBC connection Data Source has the option "Use ANSI nulls, paddings, and warnings" ON. I turn it off and try again. This time both 'aColumnVar' and 'bColumnVar' variables has empty string as values (although aColumnVar should has null as its value).
How can I make sure that i can get the data exactly as it is in the database in my variables?
Thanksthere is a wasNull() method on ResultSet. After you
have obtained the value of a column e.g. by calling a
method like getString you can call wasNull and if it
returns true then the value on the database is null.
Check the java docs, it might explain it better
http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4.1/docs/api/java/sql/Result
et.html#wasNull()I am using MS SQL Server 7.0 under Windows NT 4.0 with JDK 1.2. My ODBC connection Data Source has to have the option "Use ANSI nulls, paddings, and warnings" ON.
I try the wasNull() method but it is doing the same thing i.e. telling me that a column is null when in database it is null (right); and a column is null when in database it is an empty string (wrong). I suspect it is something to do with the JDBC-ODBC driver I am using. -
How to force simple tags and null attributes to appear when using SQL/XML?
Hello everybody:
I'm developing a non-schema based XMLType view.
When the XML document is generated, i noticed two things I need to manage in order to achieve the desired result:
1. Oracle generates a <tag></tag> pair for each XMLELEMENT defined; in my case, some tags need to appear as <tag/>... how do I do? Is it possible when using schema based XMLType views? Is it possible while using a non-schema approach?
2. When using XMLATTRIBUTE('' AS "attribute") or XMLATTRIBUTE(NULL AS "attribute"), no one attribute with label "attribute" and null value appears at the output; how do I force to Oracle DB to render those attributes which are with no values (needed to render those attributes as another parsing code will await for all the items)?
3. Some tip about how to route the output to an XML text disk file will be appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

Edited by: Enyix on 26/02/2012 11:22 PMHello odie_63, thanks for your reply:
Reasons why needed single tags are these two next: Needed to generate a single XML file from 50,000,000 rows, where the XML ouput matches not only row data but another default values for another elements and attributes (not from database but using strings and types with default values); by using start and end tag, the generated file is as much twice bigger than using single tags; second, needed a very precise presentation for all the document.
For generating that document, currently focus is based on using a batch process relying on Spring Batch with using a single JDBC query where a join happens between two tables. From my point of view, that approach uses: database resources, network resources, disk resources, and processing resources, including the price of making the join, sending to network, creating objects, validating, and making the file (Expending too much time generating that XML file). That processs currently is in development.
I think possibly another approach is delegating the complete generation of that file to the database using its XML capabilities. My current approach following your recomendations is to generate a clob where I will put all the XML and putting it into a table. It leads me to another issues: Considering limitations on memory, processing and disk space, needed to append a single row-as-xml into the clob as soon as possible, and putting the clob inside the field as soon as possible, or putting the clob inside the field, and appending into it as the data is generated; so How do I manage the process in order to achieve that goals?. Seen these issues aren't related to my original question, so I'll open a new post. Any help will be apreciated.
Thanks again in advance. -
Table.rows.find() returns null in a table where the row exists.
Hi...
I am working in a Project in Visual Studio 2013 where I have to read an Excel report related with a list of business opportunities. Some of the Fields that are involved in it are: Opportunity ID, BU, Account, close date, Account Manager,
Total Value and so on. As soon as I get the conection with the Excel Report, I fill a DataTable and declare the columns [Opportunity ID] and [BU] as my Primary Keys. In that way, an Opportunity value may have one o more rows
with different BU code each of them. In consequence, you can define one row in the table if you specify the [Opportunity ID] and the [BU] values.
My problem starts when I try to get information of those rows that have an specific value of [Opportunity ID]. For that situation I make a "foreach" structure where I check the BU codes that are involved with that Opportunity. So
I use the Find() Method to get the information of the row specified by the Opportunity ID and BU. The first time it goes to find the information it gets the results successfully but in the next cycle changing just the [BU] using the same [Opportunity
ID] value, the find() method returns a "null" and I do not know why because I am sure that the row exists in the table. I have verified the "Unique" property for the [Opportunity ID] and [BU] columns (which are
my primary keys) and they are in false which is OK.
I share the code that I am using...
Hope someone can help.
Thanks.
Alfmar.
void ObtenTotalesxBUs(string Opportunity, string[] BUs, Object[] TotalBUs, Object[] ExpTotalBUs)
ArrayList TotalesBUs = new ArrayList(); //Required information from the row.
ArrayList ExpTotalesBUs = new ArrayList(); //Required information from the row.
foreach(string businessUnit in BUs)
Object[] LlaveBusqueda = { Opportunity, businessUnit }; //Provide values to the Primary Keys.
DataRow RenglonInfo = null;
RenglonInfo = TablaFunnel.Tabla.Rows.Find(LlaveBusqueda); //Find method receives the Primary Keys values. Here is where I have a "null" in return the second time changing just the [BU] field.
TotalesBUs.Add(RenglonInfo["Total"]); //Get the required information from the row.
ExpTotalesBUs.Add(RenglonInfo["Expected Total Value"]); //Get the required information from the row.
TotalBUs = TotalesBUs.ToArray();
ExpTotalBUs = ExpTotalesBUs.ToArray();}Hi Viorel..
Thanks a lot for you help.
I am absolutely sure that the second ítem of BU is valid and exist in the table because I tried to make a "Select" statement in the table providing the values of [Opportunity ID] and [BU] and I get the expected record. So, why is not
working using Find() with the defined Primary Keys???
I tried this in order to test that the record exists...
if(RenglonInfo == null)
string strSelect = "[Opportunity ID] = '0000218256' AND [BU] = 'SFW'";
RenglonInfo2 = TablaFunnel.Tabla.Select(strSelect); -
Problem with creating and deleting row in table
Hi
I'm using JDev11.1.1.2.0. I have a table "A" with primary key X -> CHAR(1). I have created Entity and ViewObject (with the primary key X).
I created an editable Table with CreateInsert and Delete actions.
When I click Insert, a new record is added and I enter some data. Then I move selection to some other row, and return back to the new row. When I press Delete, It does not delete the new row, but the previous one selected.
In the console, when I navigate back two the new added record: <FacesCtrlHierBinding$FacesModel><makeCurrent> ADFv: No row found for rowKey: [oracle.jbo.Key[null ]].
I tried the same scenario with a different table, that has RowID as a primary key and it works correctly.
Any Idea why this is happening ? I suppose it's connected somehow with the primary key.
Thanks
agruev
Edited by: a.gruev on Nov 26, 2009 9:47 AMI changed my entity: unchecked the X column to be primary key added RowID as a primary key. Now it works.
What's wrong with my CHAR(1) as a primary key ?
I also tried to add a Refresh button:
<af:commandButton text="Refresh" id="cb3"/>and in the table add a partialTarget to the button. Now when I add new row and press the Refresh button - then it works.
So it seems that the problem is when I add new row and enter data, the table is not refreshed and the row is missing it's primary key.
Any solutions?

What are ROWID and ROWNUM? Are they stored in database and where?
Hi All,
can anybody please answer this question
What are ROWID and ROWNUM? Are they stored in database and where?
Thanks,
SriniROWID can be thought of as a pointer to the physical location (on disk) of the (table) row.
From a ROWID value, Oracle can extract the file, block-within-that-file and offset-of-the-row-within-that-block. Using these, Oracle can directly access a disk block to retrieve a row.
ROWNUM is a just sequence number of a row within a result set of a query.
As said by other repliers, both are not stored. They are 'constructed' when you reference them inside a query.
