Validating an XML string

What is the most efficient way to validate an XML string with about 25 elements?
I was going to do something like this, but I am not sure if its the most effienct way to
validate the elements being passed.
Basically, I want to put a message on a queue if one of the elements are null that is passed.
Any suggestions, please let me know.
Thanks!
public String validateXmlString(String validate) throws Exception
     DocumentImpl docXml = null;
     docXml = new DocumentImpl();
     docXml = XMLHlper.loadXMLFromString(validate);
     documentType = XMLHlper.getElementTextByName(docXml,"test:DOCUMENT_TYPE");
     indexClass = XMLHlper.getElementTextByName(docXml,"test:INDEX_CLASS");
     .//about 25 elements
     if(documentType == null)
          putMessageOnQueue("Error message");
     else if(indexClass == null)
          putMessageOnQueue("Error message");
     .//for all 25
}

Use a List of element names and a simple iteration. Enqueue if any result is null and break out of the loop.

    Hi,
    Your error message are not displaying because u does not made Message-Resoucrce property file (Resource Bundle) when you make it .
    give it entry in
    struts-config.xml
    <message-resources parameter="ApplicationResources" />
    and
    define key and corresponding error message to key in this ApplicationResources i.e
    #Error Resources
    label.search.ssNum=Plz Enter correct ssNum

  • Parsing XML string with XPath

    Hi,-
    I am trying to parse an XML string with xpath as follows but I am getting null for getresult.
    I am getting java.xml.xpath.xpathexpressionexception at line where
    getresult = xpathexpression.evaluate(isource); is executed.
    What should I do after
    xpathexpression = xPath.compile("a/b");in the below snippet?
    Thanks
    String xmlstring ="..."; // a valid XML string;
    Xpath xpath = XPathFactory.newInstance().newPath();
    xpathexpression = xPath.compile("a/b");
    // I guess the following line is not correct
    InputSource isource = new inputSource(new ByteArrayInputStream(xmlstring.getBytes())); right
    getresult = xpathexpression.evaluate(isource);My xml string is like:
    <a>
      <b>
         <result> valid some more tags here
         </result>
      </b>
      <c> 10
      </c>
    </a>Edited by: geoman on Dec 8, 2008 2:30 PM

    I've never used the version of evaluate that takes an InputSource. The difficulty with using it is that it does not save the DOM object. Each expression you evaluate will have to create the DOM object, use it once and then throw it away. I've yet to write a program that only needs one answer from an XML document. Usually, I use XPath to locate somewhere in a document and then read "nearby" content, add new content nearby, delete content, or move content. I'd suggest you may want to parse the XML stream and save the DOM Document.
    Second, all of the XPath expressions search from a "context node". I have not had good luck searching from the Document object, so I always get the root element first. I think the expression should work if you use the root as the context node. You will need one of the versions of evaluate that uses an Object as the parameter.

    Also i defined catch all activity in my bpel and if some thing happen it suppose to move to catch all block but it didn't happen here.
    I look forward from some one to help me in resolving in this.

    Thanks for the prompt help. Is there any other way instead of removing the DTD line ?. Because the xml is coming as a string and removing the dtd and then adding it will unneccesary hamper performance. Do you any other way in which even though I don't remove the line I get the output without removing the dtd line ?.
    thanks and regards,

  • Vivado 2013.4 ERROR: [IP_Flow 19-395] Problem validating against XML schema: Invalid value format for this type spirit:order

    Hello,
    I just downloaded and installed Vivado 2013.4 on my Xubuntu 12.04 machine. But when I try to add IP from the IP catalog, as in the ug937 Lab1 step2, it fails with obscure error messages (see below).
    Here's basically what I did:
    -In the Flow Navigator, i select the IP Catalog button.
    -In the search field of the IP Catalog, I type DDS.
    -then I double-click the DDS Compiler and my error occure.
    Please Help,
    Jerome.

    We had the same problem when switching to Ubuntu 14.04, and there actually is a solution for it: make sure your locales are set to English.
    $> env | grep LC_*
    should only show english (or C) locales, all others are known to cause parsing errors in some numbers, usually caused by wrong string-to-float conversions (e.g. 18,29 in german is 18.29 in english). You can change the locales in the file /etc/default/localesThis is not the first time we had problems with the locale settings, Xilinx does not seem to test their software with anything else than en_US, causing obscure bugs like this one.

  • OSMF: How to create resource from XML string

    Hello,
    I have a URL that sometimes returns a valid playmanifest.f4m and sometimes returns a string represantation of my media URL.
    On my loadComplete handler I would like to create the appropriate resource according to the returned data.
    If the data is a URL, I just create a StreamingURLResource and create the media element.
    Is there a way for me to create some resource that contains the XML? I noticed OSMF has StreamingXMLResource but its excluded, and it doesn't look like it can answer my use case.
    Do you have any suggestions?
    Thanks,
    Michal

    Hi Michal,
    The baseURL is needed since you might want to use relative urls like in a normal f4m. The parsing had to be kept simple, so we preferred to make the baseURL mandatory and to reuse the f4m parsing code.
    You should be able to provide (in the xml string) paths for the streams, bootstraps, etc relative to that base url.
    You will not be able to use multi-layer manifest through this technique, though.

  • CFChart and XML string

    Hi,
    The CF7 docs say that you can pass a stylesheet to the
    WebCharts3D application by inserting either an XML string or the
    path to an XML file into the "style" attribute of the
    <cfchart> tag. I have use a file path many times, and it
    works fine.
    But I am not able to insert an XML string into the attribute
    without an error. The error is "system cannot find file specified,"
    so it appears as if the application looks for a file, rather than a
    string, regardless.
    I need to set values in the stylesheet dynamically, so I need
    to build the XML and pass it in on the fly. I have output the XML
    and it appears perfectly valid. I have read the contents of a
    working XML stylesheet file into a string and inserted that string
    into the "style" attribute. But it produces the error noted.
    Has anyone been able to pass a string to the "style"
    attribute successfully, and if so, could you pass along some tips?
    Thanks,
    Tom McNeer

    What is the DB version?

  • Spry can not  parse xml string

    while designind an mvc architecutre in php I found display
    data on site was slow so I generate a xml sheet an used spry Data
    loading was fast an dproduced and I also performed many operations
    like sorting ,galeery making ..etc... but main thing is that I can
    not parse a xml string using spry only a xml file can be parsed
    my application required to parse xml string

    I'm not sure if this is valid in your situation, but OC4J comes with Oracle XMLParser.
    Simply use the JAXP API to parse/build/modify XML and the Oracle XMLParser implementation will be used behind the scenes.
    If you must use xerces/xalan, try putting the jars in OC4J_HOME/j2ee/home/lib instead.

  • Converting SQL Server text field containing XML string to XI XML via JDBC

    Hello
    My client has a SQL Server database containing a field of type Text which contains an XML string e.g.
    <DispatchJob> <DispatchDateTime>2003-09-29T13:29:15</DispatchDateTime> <AssignedFSE>F118</AssignedFSE> <DispatchJobPurchase> <DealerID>14C5</DealerID> <DateOfPurchase>1997-10-01T00:00:00</DateOfPurchase> </DispatchJob>
    I am using JDBC to access this but could someone please recommend the best and easiest solution for converting this string to XI XML for subsequent mapping to BAPI or IDOC or ABAP Proxy and transmission to SAP. There are other fields as well in the database table so thoughts at the moment are to use a normal graphical message mapping followed by an XSL mapping. Will an XSL mapping be able to do this and if so is that the best solution?
    Also I need to do the reverse of this and take fields coming from SAP via BAPI,IDOC etc. and convert them to a single database table field as an XML string also via the JDBC adapter. What is the best way to do this. Could it be done simply with functions in the graphical mapping e.g. concatenate?
    Thank you in advance.
    Trevor

    Hi Michal
    Thanks for the prompt reply.
    I was anticipating XSLT for reading from the SQL Server database and converting the XML string.
    But how would you convert the individual fields from SAP into a single field as an XML string for storing in the SQL Server database? What approach would you use?
    Regards
    Trevor

  • Performance problem submitting big XML string parameter to the web service

    We deployed a web service on the OC4J via oracle.j2ee.ws.StatelessJavaRpcWebService . This web service takes one string as a parameter. The string contains XML. Evrything works great UNLESS input XML string reaches 5Mb in size. When it happens OC4J does something with it for about 10 minutes (yes, minutes) before it calls the web service method. At this time java.exe consumes 100% of CPU.
    WE tried to increase JVM heap size, stack size, etc, - no effect.
    Please, help!
    Thank you in advance,
    Vlad.

    Hi Sheldon,
    What i feel is that it's not been handled in your webservice if the parameter is null or "" <blank> space
    i just you to take care in webservice that if the parameter is null or "" pass the parameter null to the stored proc

    i know putting new in the loop is VERY bad.
    i gotto get ride of this new from the loop.Don't design your application based on one-liners you heard somewhere. Do some timings to see if it matters. My guess would be that parsing an XML file would take a fair bit longer than creating a StringReader object. And you do need a new StringReader each time, they aren't reusable, so the alternatives are not obvious. And don't accept my guess about the timings, check it for yourself.
