Valuation Class mapping to GL account

Hi - This is my first time using this forum.
Which transaction is used to "view" the GL account that is assigned to a particular valuation class.  I tried OBYC but the GL account is not displayed here.

Hi,
In OBYC only it is assigned.
You can also check table T030 in transaction SE16/ Se16N

  • Valuation Class and G/L account

    Hi.,
If i am trying to view the G/L accounts assigned to each valuation class, which Table should i be looking under. Or should it be under a T-Code??
    Tx
    Mahesh

    Manish.,
OMWB gives me a list segregated as per the Valuation area , of the Valuation classes which are displayed after configuration.
Now as i browse ,say in BSX, when i need to add a valuation modifier and a valuation class to a GL account, how can i see the GL account assigned to that valuation class.
I understand that the assignment are done in OBYC.
When i go to assign the valaution modifier and valuation class to a GL account, i see the whole list of GL accounts which are there in the system.
But if i need to see the default settings for a valuation class vs GL account, where do i look?
Or do i have to ask the FI team for the G/L account which has been assigned to that particular Valuation class.???

  • One valuation class per G/L account

    Hello gurus,
is it correct that if I want to differentiate my account determination by material, I will have to create one valuation class for every G/L account used and then assign those classes to my materials?
And second question: Is it correct that I can assign valuation classes to materials or material types only? So I cannot group several materials using the same G/L account on any other level?
    Thanks in advance
    Alicia

    Hi
    To refine it a bit.
If you have 10 Inventory Accounts maintained in the Chart of accounts then you create 10 Valuation classes
Inventory Account means in whih you load the Stock value not the Consumption
    Accounts
You can assign 1 valuation class to n - Similat type of materials .
or based on your requiremnt you can maintain 1 : 1 relation ship also.
You can ssign the valuation class to the Material group in
SPRO-> IMG-> MM- > Purcahsing-> Material Master-> Entry Aids for Items Without a Material Master . This is done if you are not using material master

  • Valuation Class - Movement Type - Account

    Hi,
I´m not yet that experienced in SAP but I´ll try to explain as good as I can.
Is there any easy way to display all accounts that are used within a specific valuation class?
The specific accounts per valuation class I have found using se16 in table t030.
But this table is not telling me which movement type are using the accounts.
So I currently go to spro -> MM -> Valuation and Account Asignment -> Account Determination -> Account Determination without Wizard -> Purchase Account Management -> Configure Automatic Postings -> Simulation
    - first problem: I do not know how to find a material for a specific valuation class (no filter criteria?)
    - second problem: no complete list I have to click through each movement type to see where a specific account is used -> a complete list over all movement types within a  selected/used valuation class would help a lot!
    Best regards,
    F.

    Hi,
You can get the material list per valuation class through table MBEW (Valuation). You can use MB51 t.code to get the document list based on movement type.
The movement type and valuation class relation is through transaction event key. Movement type will determine the transaction event key through value string (the same you can find in OMJJ t.code, here select movement type and enter any movement type and click on account groupign > You can find the relation).
Transaction event key is assigned with G/L accounts based on Chart of accounts/Valuation grouping code/valuation class/account gouping(only for GBB,PRD & KON).

  • G/L Accounts - Valuation Class

    Hi Experts,
How to assign G/L Accounts to Valuation Class  and also to material group...
Which is the best industry practice....

    Hi
Assigning account to valuation class differs for various processes.
In OBYC select BSX, select rules and select debit, credit, valuation class and enter the valuation class and the corresponding account (created as a balance sheet item) .This is for Inventory posting.
Similarly u have to assign account to all keys like VBO ,WRX, etc
The rule here depends on the client business needs. For ex: if the client wants the consump[tion account to go to diff accounts based on the material type or the plant then the rule should include the valuation class and the valuation modifier and if clients says that all consumption accounts to one G/L then no need of above selection for the rules of the account key.
Also to identify the rules normally we have to see the balance sheet of the client and decide the rules accordingly. If their balance sheet has diff consumption accounts based on the material types then select the rules accordingly.
Read the below to have more idea on account assignment:
The following list shows the individual transactions with examples of how they are used. The transaction/event key is specified in brackets.
    Change in stock (BSV)
Changes in stocks are posted in Inventory Management at the time goods receipts are recorded or subsequent adjustments made with regard to subcontract orders.
If the account assigned here is defined as a cost element, you must specify a preliminary account assignment for the account in the table of automatic account assignment specification (Customizing for Controlling) in order to be able to post goods receipts against subcontract orders. In the standard system, cost center SC-1 is defined for this purpose.
    Stock posting (BSX)
This transaction is used for all postings to stock accounts. Such postings are effected, for example:
In inventory management in the case of goods receipts to own stock and goods issues from own stock
In invoice verification, if price differences occur in connection with incoming invoices for materials valuated at moving average price and there is adequate stock coverage
In order settlement, if the order is assigned to a material with moving average price and the actual costs at the time of settlement vary from the actual costs at the time of goods receipt
Because this transaction is dependent on the valuation class, it is possible to manage materials with different valuation classes in separate stock accounts.
    Caution
    Take care to ensure that:
A stock account is not used for any transaction other than BSX
Postings are not made to the account manually
The account is not changed in the productive system before all stock has been booked out of it
Otherwise differences would arise between the total stock value of the material master records and the balance on the stock account.
Account determination of valuated sales order stock and project stock
Note that for valuated sales order stock and project stock (special stock E and Q) and for the transaction/event keys BSX and GBB, you must maintain an account determination to avoid receiving warning messages when entering data (purchase order or transfer posting) for valuated stock.
During data entry, the system attempts to execute a provisional account determination for GBB for valuated stock. The system will only replace the provisional account determination for GBB with the correct account determination for the stock account (BSX), in the background, if you enter the data for valuated stock at a later point in time.
    Small differences, Materials Management (DIF)
This transaction is used in Invoice Verification if you define a tolerance for minor differences and the balance of an invoice does not exceed the tolerance.
Freight clearing (FR1), provision for freight charges (FR2), customs duty clearing (FR3), provision for customs duty (FR4)
These transactions are used to post delivery costs (incidental procurement costs) in the case of goods receipts against purchase orders and incoming invoices. Which transaction is used for which delivery costs depends on the condition types defined in the purchase order.
You can also enter your own transactions for delivery costs in condition types.
    External service (FRL)
The transaction is used for goods and invoice receipts in connection with subcontract orders.
If the account assigned here is defined as a cost element, you must specify a preliminary account assignment for the account in the table of automatic account assignment specification (Customizing for Controlling) in order to be able to post goods receipts against subcontract orders. In the standard system, cost center SC-1 is defined for this purpose.
    External service, delivery costs (FRN)
This transaction is used for delivery costs (incidental costs of procurement) in connection with subcontract orders.
If the account assigned here is defined as a cost element, you must specify a preliminary account assignment for the account in the table of automatic account assignment specification (Customizing for Controlling) in order to be able to post goods receipts against subcontract orders. In the standard system, cost center SC-1 is defined for this purpose.
Offsetting entry for stock posting (GBB)
Offsetting entries for stock postings are used in Inventory Management. They are dependent on the account grouping to which each movement type is assigned. The following account groupings are defined in the standard system:
    AUA: for order settlement
AUF: for goods receipts for orders (without account assignment)
and for order settlement if AUA is not maintained
AUI: Subsequent adjustment of actual price from cost center directly
    to material (with account assignment)
BSA: for initial entry of stock balances
INV: for expenditure/income from inventory differences
VAX: for goods issues for sales orders without
account assignment object (the account is not a cost element)
VAY: for goods issues for sales orders with
account assignment object (account is a cost element)
VBO: for consumption from stock of material provided to vendor
VBR: for internal goods issues (for example, for cost center)
VKA: for sales order account assignment
(for example, for individual purchase order)
VKP: for project account assignment (for example, for individual PO)
    VNG: for scrapping/destruction
VQP: for sample withdrawals without account assignment
VQY: for sample withdrawals with account assignment
ZOB: for goods receipts without purchase orders (mvt type 501)
ZOF: for goods receipts without production orders
    (mvt types 521 and 531)
    Thx
    Raja

  • Change in Valauation class and G/L account

    Hi expert
I need to change the Valuation class amd G/L account of most of the material, i know i have to close all the open Purchase order and Production Order and transfer all the G/l Account balance.
i would like to know what will be cause and effect will be on system and is there any mass maintained.
    Regard
    Nabil

    HI,
If you want to change the valuation class of a material, then you have to ensure the following.
    1. There shouldn't be any open doc's against the material such as Purchase orders, Production order, sale order etc.
    2. The stock of the material should be 0.
An alternate solution would be to create a new material with the correct val class & GL & do a material to material transfer.
Then you can set deletion flag for the material with wrong val class.
    Hope it helps
    Thanks & Regards,

  • Change of Material Valuation Class - What Approach to Consider?

    Dear SAP Expert ...
In OSS notes # 160970, it mentions that starting from release 4.6B we
can use Customizing Transaction OMT4 (Change System Message) to change
corresponding check from error to warning.  With this function, the
system won't check if there are existing document (e.g. = PO, SO,
etc.) for respective materials (which we want to change the valuation
class from), thus we only deals with stock on-hand.
However, the same notes also recommend the customer need to ensure that from
organizational point of view there are no inconsistency occured after the change of valuation class.
We're doing investigation of the automatic account determination which
is driven by some valuation class and ensure that it won't introduce
any inconsistency in Financial Statement (Balance Sheet and Income
    Statement).
Basically there are 2 (two) aspects we need to adjust:
    (1) Make sure there are no stock available for respective materials during the change
    (2) Adjust the error to warning message for system message using OMT4, thus the system won't check any existing document (so we don't have to delete thousands of existing document)
We'd like to clarify with you (if similar experience available before) if the following approach we take has been according to the standard practise and NO
inconsistency will ever occur in the future.
The approach we take is as follows:
    (1) Identify the FROM valuation class and TO valuation class
    (2) Identify automatic account determination from each FROM an TO
valuation class (IMG path = OMWB)
    (3) Determine the G/L account used when the changes happen, e.g. :
        Consignment Expense/Revenu (AKO)
        Expense/Revenue from Stock Transfer (AUM)
        Change in Inventory Account (BSV)
        Materials Management Small Difference (DIF)
        External Activities (FRL)
Incidental Cost of External Activities (FRN)
        Purchase Offsetting Account (FKG)
        Purchasing Freight Account (FRE)
Materials Management Exchange Rate Diff (KDM)
MM exchange rate rounding differences (KDR)
        Gain/Loss from Revaluation (UMB)
    (4) Determine the implication of (different) G/L account posting to the Balance
    Sheet & Income Statement reporting
We'd like to say huge thanks in advance for any input or advise.
    Regards,
    Alvon Sibarani

    Gopala ...
That's an interesting approach you provided below.  Really appreciate for the input.
    Just for your background:
    1. Our company is also using global instance system (located in US), where all business unit around the globe connects to.
    2. With global instance, we have to standardize majority of the system setting & configuration into a common design.
    3. The common design includes the valuation grouping code, which we use single code (e.g. = ABCD)
    4.  I supposed the single valuation grouping code is introduced for ease in corporate reporting tree.
    5.  The issues we experience on the valuation class is basically happen for only 1 business unit (in China)
    6.  Adjusting the valuation grouping code might solve the 1 business unit issue, while on the other hand we must also consult with the global finance group on the implication to the corporate reporting tree with introduction of the new valuation grouping code (e.g. = WZYX)
Again that's a valueable input we have here and we'd like to discuss it first with the finance group on the implication.  I personnaly doubt the global finance will agree with such approach, not to mention it approaching the year end thus no "major" modification be introduce.

    Alvon Sibarani

  • FI-MM(Valuation Class)

    Hi,
Can any one please help me in explaining me what is valuation class ? and where  configuration is done, i have some idea that Raw material, finished goods ext are called as valuation class and they are represented by numeric key. can any one provide proper notes on this valuation class and how is it helpful in FI-MM Integration.
    thanks in advance

valuation classes are allowed for a material type.
If a user creates a material, he must enter the material's valuation class in the accounting data. The ERP system uses your default settings to check whether the valuation class is allowed for the material type.
The valuation class is a group of materials with the same account determination. If a transaction is to be posted to different accounts depending on the valuation class, create an account determination for each valuation class in the step Create automatic postings.
The valuation classes allowed depend on the material type. Several valuation classes are generally allowed for one material type. A valuation class can also be allowed for several material types.
The link between the valuation classes and the material types is set up via the account category reference.
The account category reference is a combination of valuation classes. Precisely one account category reference is assigned to a material type.
The following are the Requirements for Valuation class.
    1) You must have defined your material types.
    2) You must have defined the chart of accounts.
    3) You must have agreed with Financial Accounting which materials are assigned to which accounts.
    Default settings
In the standard SAP R/3 System, an account category reference is created for each material type. The account category reference is, in turn, assigned to precisely one valuation class. This means that each material type has its own valuation class.
    Recommendation
We recommend that you create the account groups of your chart of accounts as an account category reference.
    Example GKR:
    3000 for raw materials
    3030 for accessory materials
    7900 for finished products
    and so on
    Activities
    1. Create account category references under
    account category reference
    2. Under
    valuation class
, define the valuation classes for each account category reference.
    3. Under
    Material type/account category reference
, assign an account category reference to each material type.
MENU PATH spro ->materials management->valuation and account assignment->account determination->account determination without wizard->Define valuation class.
    Best regards
    bhanuprakash.

  • Reg valuation class

    Hi,
i had created a G/L account with reference to an account linked to valuation class, but i have a doubt how to identify that this account is for this material as there is no link between valuation class an G/L account.
    regards.
    venkat.

    Configure Automatic Postings
In this step, you enter the system settings for Inventory Management and Invoice Verification transactions for automatic postings to G/L accounts.
You can then check your settings using a simulation function.
Under Further information there is a list of transactions in Materials Management and their definitions.
    What are automatic postings?
Postings are made to G/L accounts automatically in the case of Invoice Verification and Inventory Management transactions relevant to Financial and Cost Accounting.
    Example:
Posting lines are created in the following accounts in the case of a goods issue for a cost center:
    Stock account
    Consumption account
How does the system find the relevant accounts?
When entering the goods movement, the user does not have to enter a G/L account, since the R/3 System automatically finds the accounts to which postings are to be made using the following data:
Chart of accounts of the company code
If the user enters a company code or a plant when entering a transaction, the R/3 System determines the chart of accounts which is valid for the company code.
You must define the automatic account determination individually for each chart of accounts.
You must define the automatic account determination individually for each chart of accounts.
Valuation grouping code of the valuation area
If the automatic account determination within a chart of accounts is to run differently for certain company codes or plants (valuation areas), assign different valuation grouping codes to these valuation areas.
You must define the automatic account determination individually for every valuation grouping code within a chart of accounts. It applies to all valuation areas which are assigned to this valuation grouping code.
If the user enters a company code or a plant when entering a transaction, the system determines the valuation area and the valuation grouping code.
    Transaction/event key (internal processing key)
Posting transactions are predefined for those inventory management and invoice verification transactions relevant to accounting. Posting records, which are generalized in the value string, are assigned to each relevant movement type in inventory management and each transaction in invoice verification. These contain keys for the relevant posting transaction (for example, inventory posting and consumption posting) instead of actual G/L account numbers.
You do not have to define these transaction keys, they are determined automatically from the transaction (invoice verification) or the movement type (inventory management). All you have to do is assign the relevant G/L account to each posting transaction.
Account grouping (only for offsetting entries, consignment liabilities, and price differences)
Since the posting transaction "Offsetting entry for inventory posting" is used for different transactions (for example, goods issue, scrapping, physical inventory), which are assigned to different accounts (for example, consumption account, scrapping, expense/income from inventory differences), it is necessary to divide the posting transaction according to a further key: account grouping code.
An account grouping is assigned to each movement type in inventory management which uses the posting transaction "Offsetting entry for inventory posting".
Under the posting transaction "Offsetting entry for inventory posting", you must assign G/L accounts for every account grouping, that is, assign G/L accounts.
If you wish to post price differences to different price difference accounts in the case of goods receipts for purchase orders, goods receipts for orders, or other movements, you can define different account grouping codes for the transaction key.
Using the account grouping, you can also have different accounts for consignment liabilities and pipeline liabilities.
Valuation class of material or (in case of split valuation) the valuation type
The valuation class allows you to define automatic account determination that is dependent on the material. for example: you post a goods receipt of a raw material to a different stock account than if the goods receipt were for trading goods, even though the user enters the same transaction for both materials.
You can achieve this by assigning different valuation classes to the materials and by assigning different G/L accounts to the posting transaction for every valuation class.
If you do not want to differentiate according to valuation classes you do not have to maintain a valuation class for a transaction.
    Requirements
    Requirements
Before you maintain automatic postings, you must obtain the following information:
    1. Valuation level ( plant or company code)
Establish whether the materials are valuated at plant or at company code level
When valuation is at plant level, the valuation area corresponds to a plant.
When valuation is at company code level, the valuation area corresponds to a company code.
    Define valuation level
    2. Chart of accounts and valuation grouping code per valuation area
Find out whether the valuation grouping code is active.
    Activate split valuation
If it is not active, determine the chart of accounts assigned to each valuation area (via the company code).
If it is active, determine the chart of accounts and the valuation grouping code assigned to each valuation area.
    Group valuation areas
You must define a separate account determination process for chart of accounts and each valuation grouping code.
. Valuation class per material type
If you wish to differentiate the account determination process for specific transactions according to valuation classes, find out which valuation classes are possible for each material type.
    Define valuation classes
    4. Account grouping for offsetting entries to stock accounts
Under Define account grouping for movement types, determine for which movement types an account grouping is defined for the transaction/event keys GGB (offsetting entry to stock posting), KON (consignment liabilities) and PRD (price differences).
    Default settings
G/L account assignments for the charts of accounts INT and the valuation grouping code 0001 are SAP standard.
    Activities
    1. Create account keys for each chart of accounts and each valuation grouping code for the individual posting transactions. To do so, proceed as follows:
    a) Call up the activity Configure Automatic Postings.
The R/3 system first checks whether the valuation areas are correctly maintained. If, for example, a plant is not assigned to a company code, a dialog box and an error message appear.
From this box, choose Continue (next entry) to continue the check.
Choose Cancel to end the check.
Choose Cancel to end the check.
The configuration menu Automatic postings appears.
    b) Choose Goto -> Account assignment.
A list of posting transactions in Materials Management appears. For further details of the individual transactions, see Further information.
The Account determination indicator shows whether automatic account determination is defined for a transaction.
    c) Choose a posting transaction.
A box appears for the first posting transaction. Here you can enter a chart of accounts.
You can enter the following data for each transaction:
    Rules for account number assignments
With Goto -> Rules you can enter the factors on which the account number assignments depend:
    - debit/credit indicator
    - general grouping (= account grouping)
    - valuation grouping
    - valuation class
Posting keys for the posting lines
Normally you do not have to change the posting keys.  If you wish to use new posting keys, you have to define them in the Customizing system of Financial Accounting
    Account number assignments
You must assign G/L accounts for each transaction/event key (except KBS). You can assign these accounts manually or copy them from another chart of accounts via Edit -> Copy.
If you want to differentiate posting transactions (e.g. inventory postings) according to valuation classes, you must make an account assignment for each valuation class.
Using the posting transaction "Offsetting entry for inventory posting", you have to make an account assignment for each account grouping
If the transaction PRD (price differences) is also dependent on the account grouping, you must create three account assignments:
    - an account assignment without account grouping
    - an account assignment with account grouping PRF
    - an account assignment with account grouping PRA
If the transaction KON (consignment and pipeline liabilities) is also dependent on the account grouping, you must create two account assignments:
    - an account assignment without account grouping (consignment)
    - an account assignment with account grouping (pipeline)
    d) Save your settings.
    2. Then check your settings with the
    2. Then check your settings with the simulation function.
With the simulation function, you can simulate the following:
    Inventory Management transactions
    Invoice Verification transactions
When you enter a material or valuation class, the R/3 system determines the G/L accounts which are assigned to the corresponding posting transactions. Depending on the configuration, the SAP system checks whether the G/L account exists
In the simulation you can compare the field selection of the movement type with that of the individual accounts and make any corrections.
If you want to print the simulation, choose Simulation -> Report.
To carry out the simulation, proceed as follows:
    a) Choose Settings to check the simulation defaults for
    - the application area (Invoice Verification or Inventory Management)
    - the input mode (material or valuation class)
    - account assignment
    Instructions
    b) Choose Goto -> Simulation.
The screen for entering simulation data appears.
    c) Depending on the valuation level, enter a plant or a company code on the screen.
    d) When you simulate Inventory Management transactions, goods movements are simulated. The R/3 system suggests the first movement type for simulation. If several movements are possible with this movement type, you can select a line.
When you simulate Invoice Verification transactions, a list
The screen for entering simulation data appears.
    c) Depending on the valuation level, enter a plant or a company code on the screen.
    d) When you simulate Inventory Management transactions, goods movements are simulated. The R/3 system suggests the first movement type for simulation. If several movements are possible with this movement type, you can select a line.
When you simulate Invoice Verification transactions, a list appears on the screen of the possible transaction types. Select a line.
    e) Then choose Goto -> Account assignments.
A list appears of the posting lines which can be created by the selected transaction. For each posting line, the G/L account for the debit posting as well as the G/L account for the credit posting are displayed.
    f) From this screen, choose Goto -> Movement+ to get a list of the posting lines for the next movement type or transaction type.
If you work with valuation classes, choose Goto -> Valuation class+ to receive the simulation for the next valuation class. This function is not possible when simulating with material numbers.
Choose Goto -> Check screen layout to compare the movement type with the G/L accounts determined by the system and make any necessary corrections.
    Note
The simulation function does NOT obviate the need for a trial posting!

  • Valuation Class - Transaction

    Hi
I want to know clear about link
Valuation Class - Transaction - Movement Type - Account
Could you please explain me about that.
    Thanks and Best Regards,

    Hi,
    Movement Type
    Transaction key
    Valuation class
    G/L account
    1. Transaction/event key is linked with movement type in T code OMWN.
    2. Valuation class and G/L account are linked in OBYC.
when you post any goods movement ,say,Post goods receipt with ref to Purchase order.first system look for valuation class in accounting view (material master).Based on this, system searches for G/L account in OBYC.Now,I know movement type is 101,system look for transaction event key (BSX in case of 101 ) in OMWN to post the accountings.Hence,Account postings at the time of GR wud be
Stock account Dr -Transaction key BSX
    GR/IR account Cr-Transaction key WRX
    Hope it clarifies your doubts...
Please revert if you stil have further query.

  • Define Valuation Class against Material Group through SPRO.

    Hi,
Can we define Valuation Class against Material Group through SPRO.
Because we don't want to insert valuation class during material master creation. Reason, User can select easily wrong Valuation class during creation of material master and due to this, valuated in wrong GL accounts...
During material creation, valuation class should automatically show in Accounting View.
    Pleas guide..

    Hi,
For your requirement as you have 10 Material Types and you should have 10 new account category reference &10 new  valuation class and link(OMSK)each Material Type with individual valuation class though respective account category reference. Also assign each account category reference in respective material type in OMS2. So when you create material (MM01) with a particular material type, then only assigned valuation class will be defaulted/allowed to enter in accounting -1 view.
In the standard we have some predefined material type, valuation class and account category reference and a link between them has already established by the system. If we are using these standard setting no additional efforts are required. But to meet any specific requirement, if we have to create a new material type or a new valuation classes or a new Account Category Reference (all the three), then we have to establish this links in bewteen.

  • How to setup new valuation class and link it with gl a/c

    hi
can some one help me setting up new valuation class and then how to link it with gl a/c
i m new so if some one can explain me in steps then that would b awsome.
    thanx

    Hi Iqbal,
    Follow the below path for defining valuation class ;
    SPRO>Materials Management>Valuation and Account Assignment>Account Determination>Account Determination Without Wizard--Define Valuation Classes
Note that Valuation class is linked to account category reference.
Account category ref is linked to Material Type.
Thus the system determines Valuation Class for a particular mat.type.
    For detmining G/l accounts:
    SPRO>Materials Management>Valuation and Account Assignment>Account Determination>Account Determination Without Wizard--Configure automatic postings
Click on account assignment. Double click on BSX , enter chart of accounts .
Against every valuation class you can find the G/L accounts.

  • Service "No valuation class exists for account reference"

    Hi,
in AC01 trx, I cannot create a Service.
    The error is:
No valuation class exists for account reference
I tried with trx OMSK to link the account category reference to material type but won't work.
The error is always: No valuation class exists for account reference

    Hi,
try also to check from SPRO, Materials Management, External Services Management, Service Master, "Define Service Category", you have to set the standard "Account category reference" 0006 or the one (custom) you have set in customizing also check (Valuation and Account Assignment trx OMSK)
