Value to be assigned to a parameter field (web report parameter form)

In a Oracle 10g report In parameter form we have DESTYPE and DESNAME. In database we have PRINTERNAME. we are using run_product to open the report. Now we are in the url
http://192.168.178.29:7779/reports/rwservlet/getjobid2214?server=rep_inexpas02_OracleFRSR2
Parameter form:
When we change the value of DESTYPE to Printer I want assign printername in DESNAME field. Other wise DESNAME should be blank. Is there any trigger like when change field of DESTYPE in parameter form (web) assign some value to DESNAME. (AFTER PARAMETER FORM AND BEFORE REPORT ARE NOT SOLVING THE PURPOSE)

Is it correct taht you use forms to invoke the report? If so, a possible solution is to "create" your own parameter-form in forms itself, where you can do such validations and logic as you need. Then run the report without parameter-form.

  • Passing a value to a Parameter Field From a VB Form

    Hello everyone
    I'm using Visual Basic 6.0 and Crystal Report 9.0
    I built a report using Crystal Report and named it Player_Statement.rpt. I then included it to my VB project and named it Player_Statement.Dsr
    In this report I have a Parameter Field called P_Player_ID which I'm using in Record Selection Formula.
    I'm using the following code to pass a value to the parameter:
    Dim Report As CRAXDRT.ReportSet Report = New Player_StatementReport.ParameterFields.GetItemByName("P_Player_ID").AddCurrentValue CLng(cmbPlayerNB.BoundText)
    When I execute the application I get the error message "The value or range you are adding has already existed" at the last line of code (Where I'm assigning the parameter a value)
    Could anybody help me please

  • Need help with parameter fields and report selection.

    Hi all:
    I hope some one can help me with the problem I am having with my parameter field and record selection.
    First, can anyone explain to me why my parameter field CustStart, which is dynamic and is based on the field Customer in the table CustMaster.  There are over 1800 records in the CustMaster table but the drop down list only shows maybe about half of them and there is no way to scroll down to the last customer record.  What am I doing wrong?
    Second, is there any way to base a parameter field on a formula field on my report?  On my report I have created a field Cust that is the customer name and number joined together in one field.  I would very much llike to use this formula in my record selection and in my parameter field.  Can it be done?
    All help is greatly appreciated

    Hi,
    You can use the following for changin increasing the LOV.
    Crystal Reports XI BusinessObjects Enterprise XI
    For performance reasons, in Crystal Reports XI Release 1 and Release 2 the maximum number of values that are returned for a list of values is set to 1000. If you have a cascading List of Values (for example Country > Region > City), the lowest level (in this case City) will only display a maximum of 1000 values. This means that the higher-level prompts may display far fewer values than you expect. The list of values provides the data for the dynamic parameter list.
    How can you modify the maximum number of values available in a dynamic parameter list?
    Resolution
    To increase the maximum number of values available in a dynamic parameter list, you must add a registry key.
    CAUTION     The following resolution involves editing the registry. Using the Registry Editor incorrectly can cause serious problems that may require you to reinstall the Microsoft Windows operating system. Use the Registry Editor at your own risk. For information on how to edit the registry key, view the 'Changing Keys and Values' online Help topic in the Registry Editor (Regedit.exe).
    It is strongly recommended that you make a backup copy of the registry files (System.dat and User.dat on Win9x computers) before you edit the registry.
    Crystal Reports XI Release 1
    1.     Create a registry key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Business Objects\Suite 11.0\Crystal Reports\DatabaseOptions\LOV.
    NOTE     Alternatively, you can create the registry key HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Business Objects\Suite 11.0\Crystal Reports\DatabaseOptions\LOV and that key will override the settings of the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Business Objects\Suite 11.0\Crystal Reports\DatabaseOptions\LOV key.
    2.     Add a string value "MaxRowsetRecords" and set the value to the maximum number of values that you desire for your report. For example, a value of 2000 will return up to 2000 values in the lowest level of a cascading parameter. NOTE: The value 0 (Unlimited) will not work with BusinessObjects Enterprise XI or Crystal Reports Server XI, you must specify another value.
    NOTE     The higher the number of values is, the longer it will take the Enter Values dialog box to populate with values.
    3.      After making changes to the registry, restart the affected service or application as required.
    Crystal Reports XI Release 2
    1.     Create a registry key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Business Objects\Suite 11.5\Crystal Reports\DatabaseOptions\LOV.
    NOTE     Alternatively, you can create the registry key HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Business Objects\Suite 11.5\Crystal Reports\DatabaseOptions\LOV and that key will override the settings of the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Business Objects\Suite 11.5\Crystal Reports\DatabaseOptions\LOV key.
    2.     Add a string value "MaxRowsetRecords" and set the value to the maximum number of values that you desire for your report. For example, a value of 2000 will return up to 2000 values in the lowest level of a cascading parameter.
    NOTE     The value 0 (Unlimited) will not work with BusinessObjects Enterprise XI or Crystal Reports Server XI, you must specify another value.
    3.     After making changes to the registry, restart the affected service or application as required.
    I hope this helps you.

  • Quick Info for Parameter fields in report

    Hi Group,
    I have a z report which has two parameters in the selection screen. I want the functionality of quick info available whenever the user moves his mouse to the parameter field. Is it possible. I tried enabling the properties field in transaction SE51 , but was unable to see any results. Any pointers ?

    Hi,
    I think the QUICKINFO addition is available only for thw WRITE keyword. I don't think it can be used for parameters on the selection screen.

  • Pre-populating parameter field when report deployed

    I have two similar reports, where the reports contains several report parameters and a drop down list of of available options are provided based upon the first report parameter.
    The report that works correctly, has the first report parameter pre-populated.  The second does not.  I don't know how the first report parameter in the correct report has been pre-populated (I didn't create it).  It looks like it is pre-populated
    based on the login that you use.  At the moment in the second report, instead of having a drop down menu - the option is greyed out.  However, if I type in a figure for the first report parameter, the drop down menu is available and the options appear
    in a drop down list based on that figure.
    Can someone please tell me how can I pre-populate the report parameter so I can replicate it in my second report?

    Hi chowwbc,
    Based on my understanding, you have two similar reports, you want to make a report parameter pre-populate in your second report.
    In Reporting Service, when we specify the default values for a report parameter and default values are available, the parameter will pre-populate in a report. If you want to select parameter values appear in a drop-down list, you should specify available
    values for a parameter.
    In your scenario, as a parameter is an item within a report, you can’t copy parameter values from first report to second report directly. Since two reports are similar, you can refer to first report to specify default values for parameters in your second
    report. As we tested in our environment, if we specify default values for a report parameter, the parameter will pre-populate in the report. Please refer to screenshot below:

  • Additional fields in report for form with report

    Hello,
    I got the problem, that I want to create a form with report where the form only changes the values of one table but the report is also using additional fields linked from another table. If I take a view with all fields for my form with report, the form is about all fields and not only about those from the first table. So is there a way to have another table linked to the form than to the report and get a link between them by a key?
    I hope that someone has got a great idea and can help me solving this.
    Thanks
    Jochen

    Jochen,
    you can create a form with report on the view and afterwards you change the SQL-query into a query on the view. Take care that the original column names remain the same. You get your extra columns in the report and your link to the form remains,
    good luck,

  • Passing parameter list to Report  from form

    Hi all
    How can I assign values that are written in a form, and haven't save to the database, into variables?
    The form layout style is tabular, and it has two fields: parameter_name and parameter_value.
    I want to assign the value the user wrote in the filed parameter_value for each row.
    thanks

    Hi,
    if you built the tabular layout in a control block, then you can loop thorugh it using next_record; built-in. The value to read this is
    variable_name := controlblock.parameter_name;
    variable_value := controlblock.parameter_value;

  • Set default value for parameter fields

    Good day!
    Situation:
    1. I have 2 parameter fields in reports (dateFrom and dateTo)
    2. Before running report in ASP.NET I change value this fields (dateTo = today, dateFrom = today - 3 days)
    3.I use for this source:
    foreach (ParameterField crParam in CrystalReportSource1.ReportDocument.ParameterFields)
                            CrystalDecisions.Web.Parameter crParametr = new CrystalDecisions.Web.Parameter();
                            string ParametrName = crParam.Name;
                            crParametr.Name = ParametrName;
                              crParametr.DefaultValue = ActionReportParameter.GetParametrValue(ReportName, ParametrName);
                             CrystalReportSource1.Report.Parameters.Add(crParametr);
    4. And repurt run without request value parameter fields.
    5. BUT!!! now I need request value parameter fields before report start running - I want set default values for filelds and offer user change its before report start run.
    How do this?
    Thanks

    I believe you need to create your own parameter promt screen. Capture what the user entered and pass that to the report(?).

  • Urgent! Using Reports parameter forms with RUN_REPORT_OBJECT on 9iAS

    Hi all, I am migrating client-server to 3-tier with 9iAS Rel2 on AIX 5.1. The forms and reports are upgraded from Forms4.5 to forms9i and Reprots 2.5. We used to have user defined parameter in parameter form(e.g. articale no.) to select records appearing in the report.
    However, the Report parameter form doesn't work on web.
    I have read Note : 139546.1 but I want the parameter entered in Report parameter form, not in the Form that call the report.
    Does anyone has samples of Forms and Reports doing to achieve that? Thank you very much in advance.
    best regards,
    Kathy

    Kathy,
    please have a look at the Forms and reports integration Whitepaper that is available from otn.oracle.com/products/forms. This shows you a coding example of what needs to be done to make parameter forms work on teh Web. This papaer is available for Forms9i/Reports9i and Forms6i/Reports6i

  • Import screen field value into search help assigned to a different field

    Hi,
    I have created an elementary search help based on a custom DDIC table ZSH_SHHLDR. Dialog Type: Dialog depends on set of values, search help parameters:
    Parameter                       Import     Export   LPos SPos  SDis
    FOLIO                                X                       1       1         X
    CERTN                                             X         2       2
    where FOLIO and CERTN are fields in my table.
    There are two fields in my program defined as like FOLIO and CERTN respectively. These fields are screen fields in a custom dynpro created using Screen Painter. The search help is assigned to the CERTN field. In the screen, I want that the contents of the FOLIO field should be imported into the search help, i.e. on the screen:
    FOLIO: 21353
    CERTN: <F4>
    When I click on F4 help for CERTN, I want that the FOLIO parameter in the search help should contain the value for FOLIO that I entered in the text box on the screen. Is there a way to do this, through an exit for instance? Help is appreciated, thanks.

    Hi,
    You need to use the below statement.
    process on value-request.
    field zcom_doa_users-zzjob_role module sub_tes_module.
    Here I declared three fields in the screen fields from structure zcom_doa_users. Try to name the fields with table name-field name. So inside the module in structure zcom_doa_users you will get given value for the other fields also.
    Now you can do your own processing for f4 help.
    Thanks

  • Pass the results from a selection formula to the default values for a parameter field

    Crystal 10 u2013 SQL 2000
    I want to create a parameter field that will display all of our IT Departments so the end user can select the one they want to run the report against, such as IT-Security, IT-Network, etc. about 40 in all.  BUT I donu2019t want this to be a static list where I type in all 40 depts in the default list, I was hoping I could do something more dynamic such a formula field that says u201C if {group.name startswith u2018ITu2019 then {group.name}u201D and then have the parameter field pull from this source.
    Iu2019m sure this has been answered in a previous post but Iu2019m not finding it.  I see stuff on creating a record selection formula such as u2018if {?group} like u2018IT-Secur*u2019 thenu2026u201D  but this leaves too much room for error if people donu2019t type the name correctly.  Maybe Iu2019m not using the record selection formula correctly?  Sorry if I offend anyone but I just upgraded from 8 to 10 and thought for sure this option would be in 10, perhaps built right into the parameter default value page where you can place in select criteria but NOTHING has changed.

    if you are creating the parameters in the rpt file, it will only pull values you enter, or directly from the database
    in the record selection you can do something like this, so if they only enter the first 2 characters it should pick up only the IT etc.
    (if eft(,2)={?parameter} then true else ={?parameter})
