Values of Variables as Object names
Hi!
Can a value of a variable be an object name, and how?
For example:
String test = "myname";
JLabel myname = new JLabel();
Is it possible to set the object name for the Label from the value of the String test (here: myname) without explicit typing the name of the Label in the code??
thanks
P.S. excuse my bad english - I hope you understand my question.
how can you dynamically create for example Labels? "new Label(text)" will dynamically create a new Label for you.
I have a database connection and I want to put let's say every value of a column into a new Label.Okay, so you put "new Label(text)" inside the loop that's reading the database. I expect you want to display these labels, so you'd want to add them to some GUI container. Like this: "container.add(new Label(text))".
how do I declare dynamically names for Labels?In the scenario where you just want to display the labels, you don't need to have "names" for them. But if you have some other scenario, like you need to get at the labels and change the text based on something else happening, then you use a Hashtable to store the Labels. You'd use a String as the key (that's your "name") and use the Label as the value. Then you can retrieve the Label from the Hashtable by using its get(key) method.

Attachment values according variable names
Hello,
In iteration I want to get values from variables according their names, i.e.:
DECLARE
val1 VARCHAR2(10) :='value1';
val2 VARCHAR2(10) :='value2';
val3 VARCHAR2(10) :='value3';
val VARCHAR2(10);
BEGIN
FOR i IN 1..3 LOOP
val:=val||i;
dbms_output.put_line(val);
END LOOP;
END;
In each iteration I want to get one value at time: value1 then value2 and so on. I think, it can be done with NDS, but I really don't know the right solution.
Can you help me please?Hi,
If you want to be able to loop through those variables as if they were a collection, then actually make them a collection. For example:
DECLARE
TYPE my_string IS TABLE OF VARCHAR2 (10);
vals my_string := my_string ( 'value1'
, 'value2'
, 'value3'
BEGIN
FOR i IN 1 .. 3
LOOP
dbms_output.put_line (vals (i));
END LOOP;
END;
/What's the advantage of having separate variables with names like val1? Is it that much harder to use vals (1)? -

Create object name using a String variable
Hi,
Im making a jsp page and I need to add several objects to a vector. The vector's name is arrayGrupo, and the object is Grupo. The problem is that when I create the instance of the object, I cant give him different names, so the add in the Vector will always be of the same object instance. Is there anyway to create an object name using a variable?
Something like this:
<% if (request.getParameter("grupoNome") != null ) {
nomeG=request.getParameter("grupoNome");
descG=request.getParameter("grupoDesc");
int nG=arrayGrupo.getTamanho(); //size of the array
String xpto=String.valueOf(nG);
Grupo "xpto"= new Grupo(); //here is the problem
xpto.setNomeGrupo(nomeG);
xpto.setDescricao(descG);
xpto.setIdgrupo(arrayGrupo.getTamanho()+1);
arrayGrupo.addGrupo(xpto);
}%>
Thanks
Rui GonalvesI want to show a list of objects that are stored in a vector. But I also want to add objects to that vector. If I just want to add one object, I can use this code:
<% if (request.getParameter("grupoNome") != null ) {
nomeG=request.getParameter("grupoNome");
descG=request.getParameter("grupoDesc");
Grupo newGrupo = new Grupo(nomeG,descG,arrayGrupo.getTamanho()+1);
arrayGrupo.addGrupo(newGrupo);
%>
What should I do if I want to add more than one object to the vector?
I dont know if I made myself clear but is quite hard to explain my problem.
Thanks -

What does this mean ??Hi Mahmoud,
from the stack trace, it appears the error occurs at AM activation.
Check your application is activation-safe by setting the parameter jbo.ampool.doampooling=false in your development environment.
See "Set jbo.ampool.doampooling=false to Reproduce Problems Related to AM Passivation / Activation"
URL: http://blogs.oracle.com/Didier/2006/11/12
Does the error reproduces there ?
You will then be able to diagnose the issue further, f.ex. by switching on the BC4J diagnostics, with the java option -Djbo.debugoutput=console:
in your Project properties , in the Run/Debug panel, select a run configuration and click Edit to edit it.
Then add the string -Djbo.debugoutput=console to the Java Options field.
Then run your application and reproduce the error.
You'll then probably know the VO that has the problem.
At activation, ADF BC has to reset the bind variables, and it seems there is a problem at that time.
What kind of bind variables do you use ?
Positional bind variables or named bind variables ?

How to add an variable to the object name of the arraylist
Greetings,
i will like to create an object for arraylist with it name concat with a variable. This is what i mean as show below.
for i=1; i <8; i++)
ArrayList list = new ArrayList();
What i want when it loops, the arrayliost will auto create list1, list 2, list3 and so on until the for loops end. How do i add the variable i to the object name list?
ThanksDo anyone of u mind if let me know hows the code look like?This isn't intended to be an alternative to the previous reply: in fact it's worthless unless you read the information in the link given.

if(mainList.size() > 1) {
System.out.println("The second list is " + mainList.get(1));
System.out.println("The last list is " + mainList.get(mainList.size() - 1));
}(In reality all the action would not take place in one method like this, and the exception handling would be more useful and polite.) -
How do I get a variable, or object from ABAP STACK.
Hey Gurus,
How do I get a variable, or object from ABAP STACK.
Example: I start my FM. I can see in the ABAP STACK the variable I need. I can see the object; I could use to get my variable. I need to use it in my FM; however I need to reference it in the run time. How do I do that?
Is there a method I can use for reading ABAP STACK?
Do I just use command: get reference of u2026?
Does anyone have an example code?
Basis version 7
Thanks in advance
MartinAh, you mean you want to access a variable from another program in the call stack, yes? You can do this using field symbols, but please don't try to change a value while doing this, it could really screw things up.
this example, is using two programs, where the second is accessing variables of the first program. Basically just notice that we are using the program name and the variable name when assigning the field symbol.

Get a variable by a name string? how
Hi,
I am currently developing an interpreter which is of cause a class.
This interpreter will be initiated with several pieces of strings mixed
with unknown number of variables with some order which is unknown previously.
So the better way is just passing one string which contains the variable
name strings and return a collection of variables specified by the variable
ames contained in this string.
Problem is:
How can I get a variable from a name string, instead of a name
variable?
Java Reflection can only return fields, but not variables
Any idea?
And how JNI could do perphaps?
Any help appreciated
Thanks in adv
dunsonAs far as i know, the names of local variables, that are only used inside methods, are not preserved in the bytecode. That means you can't grab from them by name, whatever you do. You are able to grab members though, through reflection, but it's not very efficient. I wouldn't recommend it.
As suggested, I think you need to make special provision for this with a structure like a Hashtable. It's better programming practice, it's more efficient, and you'll find it much easier to program.
Something like this:
import java.util.*;
class Doodad {
Map stuff = new HashMap();
Object getValue(String code) {
return stuff.get(code);
void setValue(String code, Object value) {
stuff.put(code, value); -

Just do one thing compare the Roles of two different users for which Query is getting executed and not.
Check the Object S_RFC.

NullPointerException - Cannot get the value from variable f_cashGiven
In SubCheckout.java (a POS), what I want is when Payment button (f_cashPayment) is pressed, the action "Cash" is performed, get the value from Cash Given (f_cashGiven), do the subtraction and post the value as Cash Return (f_cashReturn). The code is filled in actionPerformed. But I cannot get the value by using f_cashGiven.getValue() from VNumber class. It returns NULL. This should be quite straight forward, but I do not know what is wrong. Please help!

Default value for variable are not within permitted value range (precalc)
Hello BW community
Issue:
I have created a variable (Characteristic Value/ Manual input-default value) and use the precalculated value set (details-basic settings). In the further variable definition I could select the precalculated value set in 'Default values', which I have defined beforehand in the broadcaster..
The precalculated value set in the broadcaster settings is just based on a master data query on 0CUSTOMER.
Error:
The variable gets the error E991/R9E Errors: Default values for variable 'XXX' are not within permitted value range.
The detail description of the error is: You defined default values for variable 'Sold-to party precalc value set for manuel input' that are not appropriate for the variable type; for example, a range is defined as a default value for a variable that only permits a single value.
So please has someone had the same issue and found out how to solve it? It would be excelent to get good solution for this issue.
Best regards and thanks
Christian

link: /thread/980839 [original link is broken]Hello,
Thanks for your response.
I should have mentioned that in my post. I tried this very first time. I thought that this is the place where you provide default value. But I got following exception at that time, so I thought, may be this is used for something else.
<LifecycleImpl> <_handleException> ADF_FACES-60098:Faces lifecycle receives unhandled exceptions in phase RENDER_RESPONSE 6

at com.sun.faces.context.ExternalContextImpl.dispatch(ExternalContextImpl.java:415)Do I need handle something else when you put the default value?
Thanks,
Jai
