Varchar2 Field with Number Data

I am having a small problem.. i have one field in which i have data in the following type ::::
0017257
005BJ26LA494
005BJ26LB142
005BJ26LB988
005CG26XA939
0210160
now i want data of all numbers in the fields for example i want to take out *0210160* from above data..
so, what conditions i should apply to take out all Numbers data from the field... AND BY THE WAY ITS A VARCHAR2 Type Field...

If you have access to the query generating the data, I would create the correct value there like this:
regexp_replace( column_name, '[[:digit:]]', '' )
If you must do it in the query, try using the XPath translate function:

I'm not sure if this answers your question but you could try putting out the address all in one item in the SQL eg somthing like:
address1 || DECODE(address1, NULL, NULL, 'newline character') ||
address2 || DECODE(address2, NULL, NULL, 'newline character') ||
address3 || DECODE(address3, NULL, NULL, 'newline character')
where 'newline character' is somthing like CHR(12)

Populated the new field with historic data

HI,
I have a data for 2 years now I am enhancing the data source how can I populated the new field with historic data.Is it by
1)deleting all the data in BW side and the doing an init then setting up a regular delta
2)running a repair full request with selection condition.
or is there any other option available? which is the best scenario to load these historic data?

I think your datasource is already in production, and you want to data only from today onwards for enhanced fields, i.e. historical data is not required for enhanced fields..
1.Fix ECC down time for 20 to 30 munities
2. Keep all objects on Qty system in ECC and BW.
3.Run Delta laods in BW for 2 to 3 times.So with this step you can clear SMQ1 and RSA7. Check the entries in RSA7, if it is ZERO then it is fine.
4. Move DS from ECC Qty to ECC PROD .
5. Replicate in BW.
6. Move all BW objects from BW Qty to BW Prod.
7. Delete Init load in InfoPackage level (Not in ODS/CUbe).
8.Load Init without DataTransfer.
9.Then Run Delta.
10. Next day on wards deltas will come as usual.
If you need Historical data also.
1.Delete data in Cube.
2.Fix Down Time and load Init then Delta.

Update text fields with xml data based on DDL selection of an ID number

Hi guys,
this one should be straight forward, but I cant seem to find a straight forward answer. In a nutshell:
XML file contains ID, Name, Location (so far 3 records in sample xml file)
Form contains a Dynamic Drop down list to allow selection of ID and text fields to display the associated name and location of that ID. The binding of the Drop down works fine, however I need the other fields to update to the associated name and location when different ID's are selected. I assume I'll need some sort of exit event on the drop down list to update the other fields with the Name and location of the ID selected, but I dont know enough to have a stab at it.
please, please, please help, Im starting to pull my hair out.

This would depend on the structure of your XML but assuming you have something like;

 <Location>Location2</Location>
 </Item>
 <Item>

 <Name>Name3</Name>
 <Location>Location3</Location>
 </Item>
</Data>
Then in the change event of your dropdown (your could use the exit event but then value might not have changed so would be performing unnecessary processing) add the following code.
var itemGroup = $data.Data.resolveNode("Item.(Id.value === '"+xfa.event.change+"')");
Name.rawValue = itemGroup.Name.value;
Location.rawValue = itemGroup.Location.value;
The xfa.event.change will be the value selected, the resolveNode will return the Item with the matching Id, and then it is just a matter of assigning it to your form fields.

Changing data type on a field with populated data

I have a table that has already been populated
i wish to change the data type of one of the fields from number to varchar2
this field has the same value you in it throughout
value = 2005 and i wish to change it to 2005/06
What is the best way to do this ?

As stated in the user guide, you can change the datatype of a column only when the value of this column is NULL in all existing rows. One workaround (in 10g) would be to add another column, update the new column, drop the old column and rename the new column to the old column's name. Here's an example:

Filter the field with people data picker

1.i create the list and put the internal number for each persone
now I have another list that customized it with InfoPath 2010
I want in the form when the user inter the internal number in it's field the field that is for the person appeared itself
I create the data connection and filter the field with display name
and when preview the form ir works but in the sharepoint list it doese'nt work when I filter it with the field=[me]
and when preview the form in InfoPath after the display name there is 3 #
and I thins these # is the problem

According to your description, my understanding is that you want to fill automatically the person column in the second list based on the internal number.
I did a test as the followings:
Create a list called ListA, and add two column: internal number(single line of text), person(Person&Group).
Add some items into the ListA.
Create another list called ListB, and add two column: internal number(single line of text), personB(Person&Group).
Customize ListB with InfoPath, and click the column “internal number”.
Set a rule for the column as the screenshot.
After the above, I tested in ListB, it worked well.
Then I set a filter personB=[me], it also worked well.
Please have a try as my steps, compare the result.

Displaying "N/A" in report fields where Number data is not valid using a formatting formula

I have many reports which are populated by "Number" data. However, there are certain charts and tables where the number data is not appropriate and the summation of such data does not add value to the report. In these instances I would like to display "N/A", however the formula I am using keeps giving me an error that I need to use a "Number" data type. Please note this is a formatting formula.
Formatting Formula
DO{TREND.EPTP1} = 'N/A' AND{TREND.EPTP2} = 'N/A' AND{@Trend %} = 'N/A' WHILE {TREND.POS2} = 'TOTAL';
Can anyone assist me with displaying "N/A"?

Fill fields with actual date / timestamp with button

Hello,
I did not find an answer for my following problem.
I want to put a button my adobe form that fills automactically three fields with data from the PC which are:
actual time (of the PC and of course timezone info), date and username, so the User has to press one button to fill all these data for convenience.
So I think it is necessary to program this in JavaScript as an "on-click" action. Since I'am not too much familiar with this, it would be great if someone can post a little sample coding for this (or has some other tipp).

you must have target fields for your Date, Time and Username, for example you have a structure in your data view called "ZINFO" with the fields "EDATE", "ETIME","ENAME"
in your layout you need a button where you click on
in the click event you can fill your fields (formcalc)
xfa.resolveNode("xfa.record.ZINFO.EDATE").value = Num2Date(Date(), "DD/MM/YYYY");
xfa.resolveNode("xfa.record.ZINFO.ETIME").value = Num2Time(Time(), "HH:MM:SS", "de_DE");
so you always get time/date when clicking
but how do you know who has opened the form?? did you realize some password protection??

Update new field with existing data programmatically

I have a requirement to write a code that update an existing lookup field.
We are running sharepoint 2010. We have a content type, which is used throughout all the sites. The content type has a field called Product, which is a lookup field for all the products we have. The field also contains subproducts. For example, a product
by name PR1000 has a subproduct PR1010 all in the same drop down menu.
Now we want to change this grouping and separate them based on product and subproduct. I have created new field called Parent Product (PP) and Child Product(CP).
I would like to programmatically update the Parent Product field with Product and Child PRoduct field with child product if any. So here is how it works; if an existing item or document has product PR1010, I would to update PP with PR1000 and CP with 1010.
The problem I am having in order to start this project is the product field is part of every document library and lists and there are 1000s of items with data for product.
Please help with ideas or suggestions. I am thinking of a feature event receiver, which when activated will automatically update every item with product field not empty.

As Bruno suggested ,if its on time activity and on the all site then so go with Powershell
script. use feature event receiver when it require on the selected site and if this require to extend
other sites so that contol will be at your end,else you need to again modified the powershell script.

Inserting a varchar2 field with symbols

I have a varchar2 field and field that I am inserting has symbol in it, Oracal is converting it to a ? when I updated the field.
ex: '. TESTMEDICINE'
Do I have to define any thing different in the database or simply oracle can not support the symbols.

Contatenate date field with Number in BEX

Hi All,
I have a wierd requirement. Please let me know if it is really possible.
I have a key figure "#of people" and a characteristic "date"
Is it possible to concatenate these 2 and form another key figure.
Example: if #of people is: 1,045 and date: 12/31/2007
the result key figure should show: "12/31/2007 1,045"

This is not possible with a key figure. BEx does not support formulas that return strings (as this would have to be). Only option I can see is create a characteristic in your cube of type character and use the update rules to do the conversion and concatentation. Though I do wonder why you cannot have the date and the key figure simply next to each other in separate columns in the report.

How to populate internal table field with text data?

This program is working fine. You can test it.
Only problem is as the column headings are big for some columns, they are getting truncated which you can always change by changing the column width in declaration

Field With No Data Not Being Retrieved

I have a Crystal Reports that is not retrieving the correct data. The fields has
a value of "POST" or nothing in the field. When I code the "Selection Formulas"
for "Record" (i.e equal to "POST") I get the correct number of records, but when I
reverse the logic (i.e not equal to "POST"), I receive no records at all. I
changed the "Report Options" to "Convert Database NULL Values to Default" and
"Convert Other Null Values to Default" (with both, one or no boxes checked), I
get the same results. I also changed "Options" ("Null Treatment") for
"Exceptions For Nulls" and also tried "Default Values For Nulls". What must I do to
retrieve these records that nothing in the "" fileld ? Sample code is
below. Thanks ! ! !
