Variables in Transports

Hi experts
I am creating new queries in Development. This query is using some variables and restricted key figures. One other team is developing one new query which is using same variables and restricted keyfigures and calculated key figures. My transport will go after his transport to Quality. Will there be dependencies and problems while transporting to Quality or Production...
Regards,
P Olin

Suppose If you made changes to the variables and RKFs ,  then you need to transport the changes but keep in mind that if you transport the changes the other quereis where these variables and RKFs may change and those queries may effect and may not work properly.
Are you taking about the variables and CKF/RKFs that you are using in your query that are already existin some bodys query or you had create your own variables and RKFs for your query?
If you are talking about the variables and RKFs that you had created seperately for your query requirement then you need to collect them in the TR before transporting and send them to Production.
If you are talking about the already existing variables and RKFs that are used in some bodys query
Then if you try to make changes it will not allow you to make changes unless you are the owner or creator of the variables query.

  • Query variable modification transport

I modified a query variable description in RRMX and a change request (let's call it CR1) gets created.  But I wonder if I should go to RSA1 Transport Connection to add the variable to CR1?  and how?  I used to do this before quite a while ago and don't remember.  Anyone's answer is greatly appreciated!

I go to RSA1 Transport Connection and locate the query variable and find that the CR number I mentioned above is listed under the column of Transport Request, that means I don't have to take any action, right?
I also go to SE09, find the CR number, but find the following under it:

  • OLAP Variables and transportation system

    Hi,
When I transport a variable from the development system to the production system, SAP transports not only the definition of the variable but the current content of it.
In our case this is an odd and dangerous behaviour: I have some OLAP variables defined which their values are used to know what data to load in next load process (they are parameters for InfoPackages and DTS processes). So, if someone transports a variable it will overwrite the current content of it and some data can be lost or loaded again.
This is what happened us few days ago. Someone transported a variable from the developement system and SAP used the current value copied from the development system (and not from the production on) to load and manage data.
I posted a note to SAP Support System and they said that this is the standard behaviour of it.
    a) Do you think that this is a normal behaviour?
    b) Do you know any method to avoid developers to don't transport variables to the production system by accident ?
    Thank you

In case, it's a fresh installation, then just run the command "STMS". This will recognise that there is no configuration and it will ask you for inputs. Kindly input the domain controller details and you will be able to set the basic configuration for transport management.

How can I pass variable values of the sender query into the reciever report?
    An example:
    - I've used the 0CALYEAR time characteristic infoobject with a suitable input variable in the sender query.
    - The sender query is used in the report (web template)
for a chart in away that the x axis peresenting the years (is the 0CALYEAR).
    - I'm trying to pass the mentioned variable input - and no the selected year from the chart (by generically), into the reciever report queries which contained the 0CALYEAR infoobject.

  • Transport  of BPS planning area (variables) without transp. all pl. levels

    Hi!
Can anybody advice me, how to transport new variables which I have created to a planning area, without transporting all planning levels which belong to it?
I transported a few planning levels that include the new variables I created to the planning area. As a result, the planning levels are transported but the new variables are missing. I don´t want to transport the whole planning area, since it contains a development which is not ready yet. Can I transport the missing variables with SE15 (how?) or is there some other way to do it?
    Grateful for any help,
    Sari

    Sari,
Please execute program UPC_TRANSPORT_BPS_ALL and transport your variables without transporting any level or area.
    Hope this helps.

  • Transport BPS exit variable

    Hello,
I have everything related to my viable exit working in dev. I have 2 new modules as per the how to..
    Z_get_variable_detail
    Z_simple_relation
now I am totally confused as to how I might transport these into production!!  I must be missing a trick somewhere... do I have to add these into a transport manually?
    thanks

    Hello,
The sequence of transport should be like :
    1- Transport your Function Modules
    2- Transport your variables
3- Transport your Levels and/or Functions and/or Layouts where you use these variables.
For 1, you should have a transport request (see SE01) that was automatically generated when activating it.
For 2 and 3, you can use the standard transport function in BPS0, but there you will have to transport all the variables. In case you only want to transport selected variables, use UPC_TRANSPORT_BPS_ALL (SE38).
    Best regards,
    Jeoffrey

  • Shared variable, bind to source

I have two projects, one on a computer the other on a FieldPoint. The computer is the client.
If I bind a shared variable on the computer to a shared variable on the
FieldPoint (Bind to source), what protocol does the communication use?
    NI-PSP?

    Hi,
Every Shared Variable is transported via the NI-PSP protocol. The NI-PSP protocol is based on the UDP. More information about the NI-PSP you can find at http://zone.ni.com/devzone/cda/tut/p/id/4679.

    Hi ashalon,
login processing normally calls the authentication scheme's login handler (aka authentication function). In many cases, this is done in a submit process on an Apex login page, that calls
    apex_authentication.login (
        p_username => :P101_USERNAME,
p_password => :P101_PASSWORD );This procedure (and it's variants, like wwv_flow_custom_auth_std.login) cause the Apex engine to
    1. run the authentication scheme's pre-authentication procedure
    2. pass username and password to the authentication scheme's authentication function, which should return true or false, depending on whether the credentials are valid
    3. if true: run the post-authentication procedure
    4. if true: save the username in session state
    5. if true: prepare a redirect URL to the deep link (i.e. the page that triggered login)
    6. if false: prepare a redirect URL to the login page with a notification_msg that contains the error
    7. log success/failure of the login attempt
    8. generate a new session cookie
    9. perform the redirect
The exact order and technical details of these steps may vary from Apex version to version.
The authenentication function (2.) can check against the workspace users table (Apex authentication), the database, an LDAP repository or you can build your own.
Some authentication schemes rely on external mechanisms to check the credentials and a defined way for these to pass the username back to the authentication scheme. SSO does this in a very special way, the header-based authentication scheme simply relies on a HTTP header variable to transport the username. These authentication schemes never run 1. and 2. from above, but simply accept the username and run 3. - 9. This behaviour is exposed with the post_login procedure.
Your authentication scheme is interesting. It piggybacks on the Apex authentication scheme, but de facto uses nothing of it. The submit process on the login page checks LDAP credentials and then runs post_login, if the check was successful. You could surely rewrite this as a custom authentication, although the authentication function had to rely on v('P101_DOMAIN') in addition to the username and password that get passed to it by default. Whether the rewrite makes sense is up to you, of course. If you are comfortable with this authentication, stick to it. But it probably would be much easier to understand for others and also easier to reuse in other apps if the LDAP credentials checking was in the authentication scheme.

  • Inconsistent Results from dbms_output.get_lines

    Hi,
I am getting inconsistent results from using dbms_output.get_lines.
I'm using get_lines in a procedure A that executes a function B to test if the function returns 0 or > 0 to indicate validity of my data. In that function, I use dbms_output.put_lines to communicate data points that I want to use. My procedure A does a get_lines after executing function B then either logs the lines into a table or sends an email.
Right now, get_lines is behaving sporadically for me. Sometimes I the chararr returns some lines while other times it doesn't. The strange thing is numlines does return a value, and it's the value that I expected.
    Can someone please help?
    Thanks.

Use parameters or even global package variables to transport data from one procedure to the other. dbms_output is not meant for this, it will not work.

  • JMSExpiration

    Hi
I am reading different things on whether or not you should be able to set the JMSExpiration as art of the OutboundHeader to produce a JMS message. The idea is to set this property of the header, so when the message is on MQ it has a set "timetolive" and does not stay there indefinitely.
In the BPEL Designer it does not show up, as it is not in the jmsAdapterOutboundHeader.wsdl
Has anybody any clue how to dynamically set the Timetolive element. I know it is in the partnerlink.wsdl, but you cannot set that dynamically ?
    Thanks

Looking at the implementation it seems than user headers are assimilated to string by default. However if you set directly JMSExpiration in $outbound variable the transport will try to parse it as long.

  • Error when using Variable Transport Binding in Sender Mail Adapter

    Hi,
I am using the Sender Mail Adapter to receive an email, convert the attached tab delimited text file into xml and map it to an IDOC.
I am using PayloadSwapBean and MessageTransformBean in order to do this, and this all works perfectly.
I am now trying to access the Adapter Specific Message Attributes to retrieve the SHeaderFROM attribute from the message and map it to a field in the idoc.
However when I check the "Variable Transport Binding" option in the Advanced tab of the mail adapter, the message no longer goes through to SXMB_MONI and I get the following error in the Java logs.
Transmitting the message to endpoint http://sapserver:53500/sap/xi/engine?type=entry using connection AFW failed, due to: com.sap.engine.interfaces.messaging.api.exception.MessagingException: Received HTTP response code 500 : Error during parsing of SOAP header.
Any ideas why this is happening?
    Thanks,
    Brad

    Hi Luciana,
Honestly, I cant really remember how or if it was resolved and I was just helping out on the issue, but another consultant continued with it, so unfortunately I cant be any help on this.

  • Mail sender adapter with Variable Transport Binding doesn't work

    Hi,
    we have PI/700 SP7.
An external partner sends an email with one attachment (a simple csv file).
I take "PayloadSwapBean" (with swap.keyName = payload-name) to get the attachment.
Both, the Adapter-Specific Message Attributes indicator and the Variable Transport Binding indicator are set.
I set the mail package format indicator too.
What I need is the sender, receiver and subject of the mail plus the attachment.
Unfortunately it is not possible to read in the email with this configuration - I get an error.
If I unset the Variable Transport Binding indicator - I get the email but without "sender, receiver and subject" in "SHeaderFROM, SHeaderTO, SHeaderSubject". The "mail package" is overwritten by the attachment.
Is it a problem of the namespace "http://sap.com/xi/XI/System/Mail"?
Do I have to define this namespace or do I have to import a content (SAP BASE 700, SP7 is imported)?
    Please help...
    Regards

    Hi Wolfgang,
I hope it is not due to the namespace.

  • SOAP Use Adapter-Specific Message Properties and Variable Transport Binding

    Hi Friends,
I am new to use to Soap Adapter. Please help me out bellow doubts.
1.When you use Use Adapter-Specific Message Properties and Variable Transport Binding .
       2. Where exactly  we r using below parameters.
Remote User : (technical name: SRemoteUser )
Remote Host : (technical name: SRemoteHost )
SOAP Action (technical name: SHeaderSOAPACTION )
To transfer further header fields, set the relevant indicator. You can then store the following attributes and their values in the XI message header:
    Variable Header : (technical name: XHeaderName1 )
    Variable Header : (technical name: XHeaderName2 )
    Variable Header : (technical name: XHeaderName3 )
    Thanks&Regards
    G.Bhanuprakash

    Hi,
1.When you use Use Adapter-Specific Message Properties and Variable Transport Binding .
SAP Help says both are needed to be checked when you want to process adapter attributes
Configuring the Receiver SOAP Adapter - SAP NetWeaver Exchange Infrastructure - SAP Library
These attributes can be get/set using dynamic configuration and their technical names are what you have pasted:
Remote User : (technical name: SRemoteUser )
Remote Host : (technical name: SRemoteHost )
SOAP Action (technical name: SHeaderSOAPACTION )
To transfer further header fields, set the relevant indicator. You can then store the following attributes and their values in the XI message header:
    Variable Header : (technical name: XHeaderName1 )
    Variable Header : (technical name: XHeaderName2 )
    Variable Header : (technical name: XHeaderName3 )
Remote User - the username used to send a message to the adapter engine using SOAP
Remote Host - hostname which the remote user used
SOAP Action - SOAP Action of the XI webservice (sender) / SOAP Action of the receiver webservice
Variable Headers are additional key-value pairs in the HTTP Header that could be accessed in the XI Header using dynamic configuration. The limit is only three though.
