Variance Calculation between BPC reports

Hi All,
I have created 2 side-by-side linked (the reports share the same axis) Income Statement reports in BPC. How do I add a 3rd report which will calculate the variance between these 2 existing reports. I think I would need to create a local member as the 2 reports are going to be dynamic across time and regions. Eg. I have 2013 & 2014 for EMEA - 15 entities, if I change the region from EMEA to Americas with 25 entities, I want the variance for all the 25 entities now instead of the previous 15. I also want the variance to show the drill down if I click on one of the reports to find the child members if they exist.
Any pointers?
Thanks!

Hi Vadim,
Thanks for the prompt response.
I have the below:
Report 1: Made out of 5 reports, extending from Column C to Column X
Rows 10, 13, 14, 15 are local members.
Report 2: Made out of 5 reports, extending from Column Z to Column AU. These reports share the axis with all the reports comprising Report 1.
Starting column AW onwards, I want the variance between Report 1 & Report 2.
Reports 1 & 2 are not going to be static. Currently I have Report 1 for 2013 Actual & Report 2 for 2014 Actual. But I have the override formulas on A1, A2 & A3 using which I can change the entity display from EMEA, which is the current selection to some other region which can have different number of entities.
I need help in putting Report 3.
I am attaching the screenshots.
Looking forward to your response.
Thanks a ton!

  • Crystal reports- Calculation between two reports

    Hi Experts
    I have designed a sales and purchase transaction report using crystal reports and i have designed another report for accounting transactions like Excise Duty payable and receivables, Vat payable and receivables, Expenses(like EB, Maintenance) and so on. Finally I added accounting report as sub-report into First Report.
    My question is, is it possible to made some calculations between sub-report and main report.
    Hope some solutions from you.

    Hello,
    right upto the linking is good?
    Right now you have to create a formula (which you might have already done for "Total expenses", you just need to alternate it slightly.
    Example:
    On 2nd report (subreport) You might have a formula like given below.
    Instead of Numbervar CAvg, which is the last shown value in the below formula, you have to make it like Shared Numbervar CAvg.
    Whileprintingrecords;
    Numbervar TJs;
    Numbervar TotalJobs=0;
    Shared Numbervar CAvg;
    Shared Numbervar CAvg=0;
    TotalJobs := DistinctCount({lab_credits.credit_no},{lab_credits.reason_code});
    CAvg:= TotalJobs /{@WorkingDays};
    TJs:=TJs + CAvg;
    CAvg
    Do your calculation above.
    Now in the main report you will create another formula which will look like below.
    Whileprintingrecords;
    Shared Numbervar CAvg;
    Numbervar TAvg:=fieldname;
    Numbervar TotalBoth:= Shared Numbervar CAvg+ Numbervar TAvg;
    TotalBoth;
    You will have a reset formula which will be placed ontop of the report header , group header if you are using grouping like this
    Whileprintingrecords;
    Shared Numbervar CAvg:=0;
    SHared Numbervar TAvg:=0;
    bearing in mind that we do not have to declare CAvg field here as it is being shared.
    Hope this helps

  • Results row calculation between two column result  in BEx Report.

    I want to use weighted average method between two keyfigure.
    for example consider the following secnario.
    CH        Kf1       Kf2
    A         10        5
    B          6        4
    C          3        2
    Result     19     b]4.21</b>
    how 4.21 is ((105)+(64)+(3*2))/total of Kf1(ie 19)
    ( A value(Kf1Kf2)+ B value (Kf1Kf2) + C Value (Kf1*Kf2))/total value (Kf1) = 4.21
    is it possible to achieve the above result for Kf2.

    Hello,
    I cannot able to use Excel Macro functionality since it is a drill down report and report cells varies based upon the selection parameter.
    and also i can't  able to use Calculation, since this report contains lot of columns and if i use  the formula, one more result column i have to include in all key figures and also business users not able to understand the report....
    Is it possible to create a variable structure, for example user is executing for 10 days , the structure should display for only 10 days ans also i create structure for 31 days (ie one month)..

  • Definition of the best approach on how to do reporting between BPC and BW

    Hi,
    I need your opinion in the definition of the best approach on how to do reporting between BPC and BW.
    For example if we want to do reporting using BW on Actuals Vs Budget how should we manage this since technically BPC Model and BW InfoCube is different?
    BPC Models have the Budget and BW has the actuals, but the InfoObject that is used for Account is different. What is the best approach to do the reporting?
    Thanks in advance,
    JA

    Hi Gersh
    I already thought in that option, but the problem is the Yellow requests in the Infocube that are not used by VP.
    In the past I used Report RSAPO_CLOSE_TRANS_REQUEST_ALL3 in the virtual function module to close the requests, but now I didn't want to use VP based on function module.
    Is there any option to use data in Yellow requests in VP based on DTP?
    Best regards,

  • Sorting a variance column in Webi report

    I have the need to sort a report by a variance that I have calculated in the report.
    For example, a report has inventory for end of prior month and current day. I am calculating the variance between the two columns. (how much inventory has changed by product)
    I need to be able to sort this table descending so that I can see the big inventory movers first.
    When I select the variance column, the sort options are disabled.
    I have also tried to save my function as a variable and that does not seem to help.
    I am using WEBI XI 3.1.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks in advance.

    Rodney,
    The "column" parameter is used as such:  ;col which is added to the end of your formula like this:
    ([Stock Quantity] Where([Calendar Day]=Max([Calendar Day]) In Report) - [Stock Quantity] Where([Calendar Day]=Min([Calendar Day]) In Report);col )
    When you add the ";col" portion it tells WebI to calculate by column (the alternative keyword to this parameter is "row").
    You mention that you'll lose your calculated column, however, instead of building a formula with a cell, you can also construct a local variable to the report executing the same formula.  This method is handy when you'll have the same computation to do in perhaps several tabs, and you just want to code once and reuse in multiple places within your report.  So, if you can somehow work on establishing a local variable with the same formula, then demote the table to a horizontal or vertical table, put your objects in that grid configuration, apply sorts, then reposition as crosstab, you might be able to achieve your desired results.
    Thanks,
    John

  • Output price variance calculation

    Hello,
    I have a question on output price variance calculation in SAP.
    The help reads:
    "Output price variances are reported in the following situations:
    If the standard price has changed between the time point of delivery to stock and the time point when the variances are calculated "
    I do not quite understand this as when I have a standard price change between the delivery to stock and the variance calculation, I will already have a CO-PA entry for the price change. So why do I need another CO-PA posting for the variance?
    Looking at the simple example of having costs of 150 USD when producing a material of 150 USD. If nothing changes I have a variance of 0 USD.
    However if I receive the finished product to stock with a value of 150 USD and then revaluate to 165 USD before the variance calculation happens, I understand SAP would post an output price variance of 15 USD? But I also get 15 USD price variance from the stock revaluation into my books, so isnt that a double count?
    Thanks a lot for your help
    Kai

    Hi Kai Hoffmann ,
    As the SAP Help says...
    Output price variances are reported in the following situations:
    If the standard price has changed between the time point of delivery to stock and the time point when the variances are calculated
    With respect to the above point,  pls follow the example and let me know if you agree or not...
    Let us say, we have Standard Cost of Product X for the month of Feb as $100 per tonne.
    One Production Order is created for 100 Tonnes and you made Goods Receipt for 50 tonnes during Febrauray. (50 Tonnes posted to Inventory a @$100). Now, at the month-end, you estimated the Standard Cost once again and the new Standard Cost effective for the month of March is $110 per tonne.
    Revaluation of inventory is done for 50 tonnes (for GR posted alread and in stock) and $10 * 50 tonnes is posted to Price Difference Account.
    Now, during the month of March, you made the GR for balance 50 Tonnes on the Production Order. Inventory is posted @ $110. Once you do TECO and do the variance calculation, the system will post $10 * 50 tonnes as output price variance, which will flow to COPA and Price Difference Account.
    So, I dont feel there is a double count or duplication...

  • Variance Calculation In Process order

    Dear All Gurus,
    We have produt cost by order.
    In process order variance calculation I am gatting variance  being calculated on Input v/s output costs.
    While settlement also same variance is being posted.
    I want variance to be calculated target v/s Actual
    Please advice
    Thanks in advance
    Bhushan

    I think in production order the variance is calculated between actual costs vs planned costs which is nothing but the input costs minus the gr coss of material produced at std costs.
    Is that happenning or not??

  • Difference between class report and interactive report

    please give me the differences between  classical report and interactive report

    Hi,read the following :
    In ABAP, there are a total of 7 types of reports. They are:
    Classical Reports
    Interactive Reports
    Logical Database Reports
    ABAP query
    ALV Reports (ALV stands for ABAP List Viewer)
    Report Writer/Report Painter
    Views (There are different types of views also)
    Classical Reports
    These are the most simple reports. It is just an output of data using the Write statement inside a loop.
    Classical reports are normal reports. These reports are not having any sub reports. IT IS HAVING ONLY ONE SCREEN/LIST FOR OUTPUT
    Interactive Reports
    As the name suggests, the user can Interact with the report. We can have a drill down into the report data. For example, Column one of the report displays the material numbers, and the user feels that he needs some more specific data about the vendor for that material, he can HIDE that data under those material numbers.
    And when the user clicks the material number, another report (actually sub report/secondary list) which displays the vendor details will be displayed.
    We can have a basic list (number starts from 0) and 20 secondary lists (1 to 21).
    Logical Database Reports
    Logical database is another tool for ABAP reports. Using LDB we can provide extra features for ABAP reports.
    While using LDB there is no need for us to declare Parameters.
    Selection-screen as they will be generated automatically.
    We have to use the statement NODES in ABAP report.
    ABAP Query Reports
    ABAP query is another tool for ABAP. It provides efficency for ABAP reports. These reports are very accurate.
    Transaction Code : SQ01
    Report Writer / Report painter
    Super users and end users can use Report Painter/Report Writer tools to write their own reports.
    Giving them the ability to report on additional fields at their discretion shifts the report maintenance burden to them, saving SAP support groups time and effort normally spent creating and maintaining the reports.
    ALV reports
    Sap provides a set of ALV (ABAP LIST VIEWER) function modules which can be put into use to embellish the output of a report. This set of ALV functions is used to enhance the readability and functionality of any report output. Cases arise in sap when the output of a report contains columns extending more than 255 characters in length.
    In such cases, this set of ALV functions can help choose selected columns and arrange the different columns from a report output and also save different variants for report display. This is a very efficient tool for dynamically sorting and arranging the columns from a report output.
    The report output can contain up to 90 columns in the display with the wide array of display options.
    There is no difference between drill down and interactive report, they are the same.
    With drilldown reporting, SAP provides you with an interactive information system to let you evaluate the data collected in your application. This information system is capable of analyzing all the data according to any of the characteristics that describe the data. You can also use any key figures you wish to categorize your data. You can display a number of objects for a given key figure, or a number of key figures for a given object. In addition, the system lets you carry out any number of variance analyses (such as plan/actual comparisons, fiscal year comparisons, comparisons of different objects, and so on).
    *More on Classical Vs Interactive*
    Classical Reports
    These are the most simple reports. Programmers learn this one first. It is just an output of data using the Write statement inside a loop.
    Classical reports are normal reports. These reports are not having any sub reports. IT IS HAVING ONLY ONE SCREEN/LIST FOR OUTPUT.
    Events In Classical Reports.
    INTIALIZATION: This event triggers before selection screen display.
    AT-SELECTION-SCREEN: This event triggers after proccesing user input still selection screen is in active mode.
    START OF SELECTION: Start of selection screen triggers after proceesing selection screen.
    END-OF-SELECTION : It is for Logical Database Reporting.
    Events associated with Interactive Reports are:
    1. AT LINE-SELECTION
    2. AT USER-COMMAND
    3. AT PF<key>
    4. TOP-OF-PAGE DURING LINE-SELECTION.
    HIDE statement holds the data to be displayed in the secondary list.
    sy-lisel : contains data of the selected line.
    sy-lsind : contains the level of report (from 0 to 21)
    Interactive Report Events:
    AT LINE-SELECTION : This Event triggers when we double click a line on the list, when the event is triggered a new sublist is going to be generated. Under this event what ever the statements that are been return will be displayed on newly generated sublist.
    AT PFn: For predefined function keys...
    AT USER-COMMAND : It provides user functions keys.
    TOP-OF-PAGE DURING LINE-SELECTION :top of page event for secondary list.

  • VBA problem with SAP BPC report

    Hello
    I have an EVDRE() SAP BPC report where one of the member id selection is derived using a VBA script. The problem I'm having is when I click on expand and refresh icon, the member id changes to #Value and the expansion and refresh fails as #Value is not a member id.
    I would really appreciate any help on understanding why on expansion my VBA selected member id is replaced with #Value and how I can fix this if that is possible.
    Many thanks
    Hina

    Thank you for your help with this problem which is now resolved.
    Just to clarify we are on SAP BPC version 5.1
    How it was resolved....
    We had to use BEFORE_EXPAND as advised and also fix the calculation reference and finally also use AFTER_REFRESH.
    We used VBA code to remember the dropdown lists option
    and
    copy the calculated member id into the pagekey dimension cell.
    The AFTER_REFRESH restored the dropdown list option selected.
    Not sure if the code is helpful but this is what we used....
    Dim intRegionChoice As Integer
    Dim intSegmentChoice As Integer
    Dim intCountryChoice As Integer
    Function BEFORE_EXPAND(Argument As String)
    'Range(MCC_NodeToUse).Formula = Range(MCC_NodeToUse)
    'Sheets("MCC").Select
    'Sheets("MCC").Calculate
    intRegionChoice = Range("AnswerRegion").Value
    intSegmentChoice = Range("AnswerSegment").Value
    intCountryChoice = Range("AnswerCountry").Value
    Range("PickUpUserSelection").Value = Range("MCC_NodeToUse").Value
    End Function
    Function AFTER_REFRESH(Argument As String)
    'MsgBox "After something"
    Range("AnswerRegion").Value = intRegionChoice
    Range("AnswerSegment").Value = intSegmentChoice
    Range("AnswerCountry").Value = intCountryChoice
    End Function
    Thank you for all your help.

  • Variance Calculation and Settlement

    Hello Gurus,
    While performing period end closing, the variance calculated (KKS6) amount is not the same as the amount in settlement (KK87). Both are picking up the same variance categories for the material but with different values. can you please let me know the reason for this.
    Note: This error occurs only for one company code, other company codes calculate and settle the same amount. WIP and scrap is not being used by the company codes.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi Friend,
    did you check whehter all your allocation and distribution cycles related to that company code are executed.
    in my opinion you need to check if that is executed and again compare the both reports

  • KSS1 - Variance calculation on cost centers

    Hello,
    i ran KSS1 but the variance calculated is the difference between actual and planned amounts (in my scenario planned = target).
    Actually, i'd like to calculate and book the variance between costs booked on cost centers and absorptions coming from labour hours. At the end the aim is post somewhere the over/under absorption of production cost centers.
    Any suggestion?
    Thanks,

    Hi,
    i must settlement product order, so i need variance calculation. So can i settlement variances to FI only for some components of BOM and one variances of one component leave on procuct order? Or can i settlement variances of one component of BOM to other cost centrum than others components (alternatively under other cost elements)? Maybe substition.... If yes, how?
    Thanks a lot,

  • Product Variance Calculation

    Gurus,
    How do we calculate Product variance?
    What is the procedure / process?
    Where can the effect be seen?
    Edited by: Bhatia on Oct 15, 2008 6:44 PM

    Hi,
    Variance Calculation
    As long the production order is not fully delivered or flagged Technical Complete the remaining order balance is treated as WIP. Otherwise the order balance shows up in variance calculation.
    If a lot-based product-controlling WIP, is valuated at actual costs. The WIP is calculated as the difference between the debit and credit of an order as long as the order does not have the status DLV (delivered).
    In lot-based product controlling the variances are not calculated until the order has the status DLV (finally delivered) or TECO (technically completed). This means that at the time the order has reached this status, the system no longer interprets the difference between the debit and the credit as work in process but as a variance. In lot-based product controlling orders never have work in process and variances at the same time.
    Variance calculation compares the actual costs incurred for the production/process order with the target costs according to the standard cost estimate for the finished material, and assigns the individual variances to variance categories. The target costs are calculated using the quantity delivered for the order.
    In this way you can find out which variances occurred between the value of the delivery and the actual costs and you can find the reason for the posting to the price difference account for materials with standard price control.
    Variances from production (target version 1)
    Variance calculation compares the actual costs incurred for the production order with the target costs for the production order and assigns the individual variances to variance categories. The target costs are calculated using the quantity delivered for the order.
    This enables variance calculation to find out which variances occurred between the time the production order was created and the end of the production process.
    Variances from planning (target version 2):
    Variance calculation compares the planned costs for the production order with the target costs according to the standard cost estimate for the finished material, and assigns the individual variances to variance categories. The target costs are calculated using the quantity delivered for the order.
    This enables variance calculation to find out which variance occurred between the time the standard cost estimate was created and the time the production order was created.
    Variance categories:
    The system assigns every variance to a variance category. The variance category indicates the cause of the variance (such as price change, lot-size variance). Variances are updated to the information system and passed on to Profitability Analysis according to variance category.
    You differentiate between variance categories on the input side and on the output side:
    u2022     Variances that occur because of goods issues, internal activity allocations, overhead and G/L account postings are displayed on the input side. Price variances, quantity variances, resource-usage variances and input variances are displayed on the input side.
    u2022     Variances that occur because too little or too much of the planned order quantity were delivered, or because the delivered quantity was valuated differently are displayed on the output side.
    Variances on the output side occur when you deliver using a price that differs from that found by dividing the target costs and the delivered quantity. If you deliver using the standard price, a variance can occur when the order lot size differs from the costing lot size. This is displayed as a lot-size variance.
    For config
    3.1.4.2     Variances & Settlement
    Variance Calculation determines differences between the actual costs incurred on a production order and the standard costs of the material produced. Variances are calculated not at once, but for different variance categories. The variances computed are then transferred to CO-PA.
    3.1.4.2.1     Define Default Variance Keys for Plants
    Use
    The Variance Key is part of the order header and controls variance calculation. The system selects the value set by this step as default value when a material master is created. From the material master the variance key then is transferred to the order when an order for the material is created.
    Procedure
    1.     Access the activity using one of the following navigation options:

    Dear All,
    I have problem in one of the BPC report where I am not able to see the result into one column but rest of the users are able to see the result for same column in same report without any issues.
    Generally, I used this report frequently but having such problem from last few days. Excel has created any logs which I need to clear? Please advice.
    Request your help to resolve such problem please.

  • Shared DateVar in Subreport and datediff calculation in Main Report?

    Hello experts,
    I am using CRXI sp2.  I have a report that contains two subreports for different dates in the same date field that are identified by a Service Code.  The subreports have been placed in the same group footer 1a to be displayed and the calculation resides in the main report group footer 1b.  The shared variables are as follows:
    whileprintingrecords;
    shared datevar Codedate5473;
    Codedate5473:={@Codedate5473};
    and
    whileprintingrecords;
    shared Datevar Codedate5623;
    Codedate5623:={@Codedate5623}
    The main report has the following calculation is in group footer 1a.
    Whileprintingrecords;
    Shared numbervar daysbetween;
    if (isnull({@Shared 5623})or isnull({@Shared 5473})) then 0
    else daysbetween:= datediff("d",{@Shared 5623},{@Shared 5473})
    This returns negative numbers as well as calculations where one of the shared variables is null.
    I reset the calculation in the report header as well.
    Thanks for your help in advance.
    Kevin

    Hi Kevin,
    I can reproduce your issue, As per my knowledge the crystal will make some issues in null value computation as well as  shared variable  computation
    In your report i can see , you tried to access values from subreport to main report through shared variable. that will make problem. we can access values from main report to subreport without any issue using shared..dont ask me the reason..i am not the right person to say that... lol.
    The another wrong thing  i was found in your formula is , you are not resetting the shared variable any where.. so once the date field is null, the shared variable returning the previous value.
    So this is the solution for you..
    1,You have to add one more subreport for displaying your result., Lets say 'Sub report3'
    and create a formula, like.(Same which you have write before for the result)
    shared datevar Codedate5473;
    shared Datevar Codedate5623;
    numbervar daysbetween;
    WhilePrintingRecords;
    daysbetween:= datediff("d",Codedate5473,Codedate5623);
    daysbetween;
    2, Re- write your first two formulas like this
    For Subreport1,
    WhilePrintingRecords;
    shared dateVar Codedate5473;
    if isnull({Codedate5473}) then
    Codedate5473:=date(0,0,0)
    else
    Codedate5473:=date({Codedate5473});
    For subreport2
    WhilePrintingRecords;
    shared dateVar Codedate5623;
    if isnull({Codedate5623}) then
    Codedate5623:=date(0,0,0)
    else
    Codedate5623:=date({Codedate5623});
    Hope this will works for you,
    Cheers,
    Salah.

  • OBIEE 11G - Issue passing parameters between two reports

    Hi folks,
    I am struggling to pass parameters between two reports in OBIEE 11G.
    My first report contains the following columns: Rolling Year Type (VCHAR), Year(VCHAR), Month(VCHAR), Cost(Double).
    My second report contains the following columns: Rolling Year Type(VCHAR), Year(VCHAR), Month(VCHAR), Category(VCHAR), Cost(Double).
    My requirement is to pass the Rolling Year Type, Year and Month values from report 1 to report 2.
    On the Month column properties of report 1, I have created an Action Link called 'Drill to Category'. I have clicked on 'Navigate to BI Content' and selected Report 2.
    Then on Report 2, I have included three filters: Rolling Year Type is prompted, Year is prompted, Month is promted.
    When I run the report I always get the following error:
    The specified criteria didn't result in any data. This is often caused by applying filters and/or selections that are too restrictive or that contain incorrect values. Please check your Analysis Filters and try again. The filters currently being applied are shown below.
    When I check the cursor cache, the filter values are correct. Does anybody have any idea why Report 2 does not display?
    When I remove the Month filter, the report works correctly.
    I have since changed the third filter to be Month No and although Report 2 does display, it does not pick up the filter on the Month No.
    I initially thought this may have been a caching issue and so I have disabled BI Server Cache but this does not fix my problem.
    This was never an issue on OBIEE 10G as I found it very easy to navigate between two requests.
    Has anyone else experienced problems with passing parameters between two request in 11G?
    Any help appreciated.
    Thanks
    Gavin

    Hi,
    I once tried this kind of requirement(with dashboard prompts though) and hit at similar issue. I later found out that the problem is with the space in the parameter values. Can you please let me know, if the same is the case with you?
    Suppose the parameter passed is "Jan 2010", but the report on the destination takes the value as "Jan" & "2010". Yes, it kind of split the parameter value to two based on space. I think we can notice the filters the destination report got, by enabling filter view.
    In this case, since you pass only value at a time, could you try placing the parameter value anyway in double quotes? I think the Server then will understand it as one value.
    Thank you,
    Dhar
