Variant Configuration including Bitmap

Hi there,
we using often small bitmaps to show the customers a hint to the selected articles. The output of SD Order are sapscript forms and we solve this with include of an Bitmap in sapscript article description.
Now i try to include such a bitmap in a variant configuration. If the user select a value 1 of a Characteristic ist should print bitmap xx, if the user select value 2 of a Characteristic ist should print bitmap yy and so on.
Is anyone who had solve such a problem or know how could i realize this in sapscript.
Is there a possibility to define a variable in the characteristics value or in the maintaining dependencies of a value?
While processing the variant configuration table in sapscript (loop at tkomcon conf_out = tkomcon) this could be done by an if then else statement. But i don't like to process this on all variant articles. So i search for a solution to sove this in the article description/variant characteristics depending on a selected value.

1) A configurable material , let us say can have 1000 of variants based on the characteristics combination. Out of these 1000 variants we will be interested to stock only a few variants . This could be say 10 or 20, and for these only, we need to create material variants. Actually this process is similar to the creation of 10 or 20 new materials..but here by selecting the characteristics, we are creating the materials which are known as material variants.
Hence we will not be creating material variants for all possible combinations
2) For the material variants that we created, we plan, produce & stock the required quantities.During SO creation we enter the specification ie characteristics combination given by the customer. In Sale order itself we can make the system to check whether a material/stock exist for the given characteristics combination and assign the promise date suitably.

I have a requirement to process the document items in the Production Order BOM for a variant configurable martial. I am not sure which Function Module will do this purpose. I checked the FM: CS_BOM_EXPL_MAT_V2 and does not seem to be working.

What are you doing with the characteristics right now ?
If you want operations selected based on characteristic values, you need to have dependencies written just like you do (or in your case, will do) in your BOM components.
I understand the business-push to not do things 100% at the start and just "oh we'll add that part later" but I would really push back to get that part included initially.

PO EDI - How do I exclude a specific variant configuration value

When sending POs via EDI we include our variant configuration values (segment E1CUCFG/E1CUVAL). There is one specific variant configuration we don't want to include as it's irrelevant to the vendor and keeps confusing them. We do need to send all the other variant configuration values. What would be the best way to do this?

Variant Configuration Data download from R/3 to CRM

Hello all
It may be a very dumb question, but I would certainly appreciate an answer.
We are currently using SAP R/3 4.6c and heavily use VC for configurable products and also for pricing.
Now we wish to explore the possibility of using SAP CRM 5.0 to enable our sales force to use CRM PCUI to create quotes for configurable materials.
My questions are as following:-
1. Is it possible to download all VC related data into CRM from R/3 including pricing? I understand that for different VC object, I will have to use different CRM objects but is it possible? If the data transfer is possible, is it typically done by a middleware resource?
2. I would also like to confirm that by creating a run time version and Kbase is pre requisite to enable the download to CRM.
If you could please point me to the appropriate help on this topic, I would really appreciate it.

we have a situation in our company where we have been using a home grown product that not only lets you configure product bu it also takes the user through a selling experience for example it asks the user if he is interested in buying any accessories for the product and provides options through pop messages and the user can select. this way it takes leads the user through questionnaires that comes in pop ups to select a product
we have crm service and ecc implemented and now we need to implement this feature for the crm sales piece
the question is do we go for PME or variant config that is already set up in ECC ?
the link and middle ware set up between ECC and CRM is also available so we can bring the variant configuration from ECC into crm. but how about the questionnaires and the selling experience that is available through pop up questionnaires,
we can set up the selling experience via the Product modeler but as a company we need to make a decision whether we bring the varinat configuration from ecc and use the selling experience for the pop up questionnaires that leads customer
or should we just use sales packages that behaves similarly like varinat configuration and add enahcnements to create the pop- up questionaires
Could you direct /provide some guidance in this area?

Variant Configuration - Planning tables disappearing from planning profiles

Hi everyone,
I'm having a strange problem with some planning profiles I've set up in MDPH for several of our configurable products. I'm getting reports from our production planners that certain planning tables within these profiles are suddenly disappearing from the profiles, along with all the values they've input for those characteristics. This is apparently happening without anyone making any changes to the profiles.
By way of background, I've recently created several new variant models (including planning profiles) for a new series of products, several of which share characteristics with the variants that are experiencing the problem I described. Is it possible that this might somehow be impacting the planning profiles of the old variants?
Any help is greatly appreciated. We're running 4.6c, FYI.

Thank you very much for your reply. I've read both notes you referenced and they seemed very promising in that the symptoms described match what we are seeing. Unfortunately, however, they don't seem to reflect the root cause of the problem I'm seeing. Our users are logging in in English, and we have English names for the characteristics in question. Also, we are on a later patch version (55) than the one that fixed this issue (51). So I don't think this one will help us to fix the issue.
If you have any other ideas, please let me know. Thank you again for your help on this!

Custom ATP Check using Variant Configuration Data in sales order

I have a requirement to modify the standard SAP ATP check by including the variant configuration data entered on a item. Standard SAP does not use/include the characteristics data when doing the ATP. None of the available user exits would allow me to do this.
The scenario is the client has a configurable product that exist in inventory as one item, base unit as IN2. The batches that exist in inventory have the characteristics of width and length. The order data specifies a width and a length, they need the ATP to identify the availability based on the characteristics of the batch.
The solution was to present the user with a list of batches based on the characteristics that meet the criteria. The user would then have the option of choosing one of the batches which would mean that the line item would include the batch #. If the user does not want any of the batches, they could choose to select a Make to Order option, which would change the item category of the item, so that it creates a production order upon saving the order.
The problem I am having implementing this solution is I have not been able to identify the internal table(s) that contains the characteristics data in SAPMV45A after the configuration screen is called. If anyone knows where that information is during the sales order processing, it would be greatly appreciated.

Sales order costing (MTO) Variant configuration.

Basically there 3 different types of finished castings :
1.     Special finished Casting u2013 which is a configurable material . this casting is saleable as well as can be used for manufacturing machined castings. This casting is been manufactured at plant : 8110 only. The planning strategy maintained is 25 (make to order with configurable material)
2.     Machined Casting u2013 this is also an configurable finished material which can be sold as well as can be used as an BOM for manufacturing Assembly castings. This casting gets manufactured at plant : 8130 only. The planning strategy maintained is 25 (make to order with configurable material)
3.     Assembly casting : this is also an configurable finished material which is always saleable. This casting gets manufactured at plant : 8130 only. The planning strategy maintained is 25 (make to order with configurable material)
Scenario which is as follows :
1.     Customer gives the PO for assembly casting at 8110 plant code.
2.     Therefore Plant : 8110 will generate the stock transfer order to 8130 for assembly castings
3.     For manufacturing of assembly castings in 8130, the plant needs to manufacture Machined castings in 8130 plant and for manufacturing machined castings in plant 8130 , the plant requires special castings which is been manufactured at 8110 plant.
4.     So, firstly Special castings will get manufactured at 8110 plant with the reference of assembly sales order .
5.     After that stock transfer for special castings will be done from 8110 to 8130 plant .
6.     Then customer would start manufacturing machined castings
7.     And then finally manufacture assembly casting
8.     Finally assembly castings will get transferred from 8130 to 8110 plant for sale
9.     Sale of assembly castings from 8110 plant respectively.
Touch points of the scenario:
1.     Cost of special casting and machined castings should get rolled up to the assembly castings
2.     These needs to be executed in MTO scenario only because of variant configuration
3.     While doing the stock transfer, the cost should include transfer pricing as well
Problem Statement :
1.     We understand that for configurable material , you cannot run the standard cost estimate, therefore the material master price with price control u201CSu201D is always zero. So when do the stock transfer from of assembly cast or special cast for one plant to another then cost update happening at both the plants is zero.
Please suggest some better solution for incorporating this scenario inclusive of the touch points.

Variant Configuration Problem

Dear SAP Friends,
I have created VC including everything necessary. I have created the Sales Order also with the necessary Variant created. But I am not able to deliver as in the availability Check it has taken as per the below:
Avail Check = 01 and Checking Rule = AE
The MRP element is showing SimReq i.e. Simulated requirements.
I have not created any BOM. I have created Material with KMAT and Configurable Profile, Characteristics, Class etc.
How can I create the Super BOM with my Configurable Material (Number is 1479) as this Material Item category group is 0002 pricing at header level. But in the BOM (Tr. Code CS01), I have to give the item category group as ERLA.
My Class is ZHONDA, Characterics are ZCOL and ZCC.
I have created Variant as "RED100" for the Car and this Variant is not a Material. I am a bit confused. I did not find any suitable answer from the past thread.
Please help to solve this problem.

Some light on Variant Configuration in Detail.
Follow these steps do the configuration:
-->Create a Material - KMAT type with Item category (002) ·
-->Create Charateristics in CT04 - Zbike, where in values mention the Color of the bile like Red, Blue etc
-->Create another characteristics in CT04 - ZPrice, where directly go the additional data tab and maintain the table SDCOM and field VKOND (ABAP Dictionary it will ask for) ·
-->Assign these two characteristics to a Class in CL01 - ZBikeclass ( Type 300) in characteristics tab page.
-->Then go to CU41 Configuration profile select the material and enter the description click on the class assignment ie assign Zbikclass.
-->Now go back to CT04 - enter Zbike -go to values- select Red- go to extras - Other Dependencies - Select Procedure enter in front 10 write - $self.ZPrice='Red' and save ·
-->Now go back go to extras - Other Dependencies - assignments and assign relationship ( by default it will come just save) · Now select Blue- go to extras - Other Dependencies - Editor - Select Procedure enter in front of 10 write - $self.ZPrice='Blue' and save ·
-->Now go back go to extras - Other Dependencies - assignments and assign relationship ( by default it will come just save) ·
-->Now go to VK11 - Enter VA00 (Condition)(For Std RVA001 Pricing Procedure) - enter variant Red and Blue give the rates accordingly and create the sales order.

Sales Order with Variant Configuration

I´m trying to create a Sales Order with Variant Configuration.
First, I tried to create the order with the BAPI SD_SALESDOCUMENT_CREATE but It would not let me update characteristics.
Then I separated into two BAPI's:
SD_SALESDOCUMENT_CREATE to create Sales Order and BAPI_SALESORDER_CHANGE to modify the characteristics.
I run the two SAP BAPI's from SAP and create the Sales Order and make the characteristics correctly, but when I try to invoke from The Middleware the message V1 555 The sales document is not yeat complete is displayed and does not update the characteristics.
Both functions are such as Remote-enabled Module.
The remote user profile is SAP ALL
Reviewing where the message is used, I see that the message is in the include MV45AF0B_BELEG_BEARBEITEN_ENDE
IF DA_LINES> 0 AND
SY-NE SPACE AND BINPT
CTU_AMODUS BI_INFO-NA 'A' AND
CATTAKTIV IS INITIAL.
MESSAGE I555.
ENDIF.
Do you have any idea why since Middleware is not working?.

I changed the creation of Sales Order using only SD_SALESDOCUMENT_CREATE and using Commit Work and it is the same, running the function from se37 create the Sales Order and make the characteristics correctly, but when I try to invoke from The Middleware the message V1 555 The sales document is not yeat complete is displayed and does not update the characteristics.
I Open that Sales order in VA02 and check 'Incompletion Log' the screen show 1 Configuration, I Open the tab of the characteristics without changing the characteristics and only save, then the status changes to Complete document.
You give me another idea that could be happening?

In a variant configuration for coils sheets industry with MTO, there are six production lines:
1. Pickling
2. Cold Rolling
3. Annealing
4. Skin pass
5. Galvanized
6. Coloring
Every product line manufacturing product with different characteristics:
1. Thickness
2. Surface
3. Galvanization types and concentration
4. Color concentration
How to build BOMs and Routing if every production line delivers a product to the next production line and we can sell the output of every production line.
I'm confused to use variant configuration scenario or material variant scenario.

Variant configuration is the best option to go for,
You have six production lines means you need to create six work centers in super routing.
First create detailed product structure at each level . To build an BOM STRUCTURE follow below procedure.
In your case every production line delivers a product to the next prod line here create super BOM
FOR all 6 production lines comprising possible components for that Product. If pickling is an product then it will have cold rolling and annealing as component and as per business scenario write dependencies under which condition before pickling, coiling or annealing will be selected.
Assuming fulfilling dependencies, coiling is selected for BOM explosion.
Accordingly in coiling super BOM include annealing or skin pass or coloring as component to be selected based on dependency written likewise till raw material BOM can be build.
From FG characteristics should be flown from one
BOM component to other for that write procedures to copy thickness character value from one level to other. Prerequisite could be all characteristics should be in all six product lines class. LIKEWISE MANY BUSINESS SCENARIOS CAN BE BUILD USING PROCEDURES AND CONSTRIANTS AT DIFFERENT PRODUCTLINES.

Stock Report for Variant configuration

Hi Experts,
Request your help to get the following information.
We have a material which are packed in to multiple packing modes. Inorder to ease the selection of packing mode in sales order, we are thinking of introducing variant configuration. I.e all the packed materials will be created as variants in SAP and the sales order will be created for the configurable material. When the proper characteristic is selected the material will be automatically replaced by the variant.
But the requirement is to see the stocks of all the varaints along with the configurable materials as the header. For eg. Material A is having variants A1, A2 & A3. The sales quantites are 25, 30 and 35 respectively.
In any of the standard report, can I see the sales of these along with the total sales of config mtl A as 90
Please guide.

Hi Prathib,
On my last project, we define material code with the same code at the beginning like you do A1 A2 A3 (for variants) and AC for example for configurable material. Then for stock report you can use MB52, in material field just write A* it will show you stock from material start with code A. But make sure you define material type and material group for selection wisely. It works for me. Now depends on how well you define your structure.

Dll import wizard won't go past "Configure include paths"

In the LabVIEW 8.5 version of the "Shared Library Import Wizard" I'm unable to proceed past the "Configure include paths" screen. I get a dialog that reads "Parsing header file" butI am returned to the"Configure Include Paths" screen.
The library imported without error in LabVIEW 8.2.1.
There is no "Report Generation Toolkit" installed.

I can confirm that I am able to use the "Call Library Function"
nodes and that there are no errors indicated when running the wizard. I
get up to the "configure_paths" screen and when I click Next I am shown
the "parse_dialog" screen momentarily but am returned to the
"configure_paths" screen after about 3 seconds.
I have
tried an install on another machine with identical results. The .dll I
am importing was created in MS Visual Studio Express 2008 and imports
well under LabVIEW 8.2.1's import wizard.

Error message while creating configurable material for variant configuration.

Dear All,
I want to create configurable material for the purpose of variant configuration. When trying to create configurable material using mm 01 or mm k1, it is displaying an error message that internal number assignment is not possible for the material type configurable materials as well in using external number also. Can anyone specify the steps to be done in creating the configurable material. Thank you all.

If you want to set these material type to another group (Which has a internal number and external number range), then you can do it.
In MMNR, Click on the Edit Group.
Then select the material type and click select element.
Then mark a tick option in another group and then press Element/Group.
Then you can see the material type will come under this group.
Now save your entry, and create a material with this material type.

Variant configuration

I have done all the settings for variant configuration. But still I am getting a error while raising sales order (VA01) (ERROR -configuration not possible for material)
now what should i do.
