I would like to use the BEx VARIANTS into WAD Report.
So Could you please suggest me how to use the BEx Variants into WAD?
In General, Where the BEx Variants will be stored?

You can use the TVARVC table for variants. If you want to use the variants in the template try the code given below for the Data Provider tag.

To display the selection screen variant name in WAD report output.

Hello experts,
I have a requirement which is to display the selection screen variant description in the output of the WAD report.
I managed halfway, by using the object "Information field", which displays all the values which are selected by the variant.
Example:I have created a cost center report created using WAD, since I need some graphical displays..
In the selection screen, I have the characteristic "cost center" as input field. I have created a variant " GM - IT" which will include few cost centers managed by GM. In the output, I want the dispaly to be "Cost center - GM IT". Currently it displays "Cost Center - a,b,c,d" as the values a,b,c,d are the values from the variant name "GM-IT"
Please let me know if this required any java script. I am not familiar with java / html codes and any help would be much appreciated (and rewarded)

Hi,
Try this.
If you want to include your variables in your WAD means you have to choose "Force Variable Screen" option to be in enabled condition.
TO enable this,in WAD select your Template(New Template1) click the WEBITEM , it'll shows all generic properties , here you can enable this "Force variable screen"
Save and execute your WAD now you can get your variable screen.

WAD: Execute query with variant

Hi,
I would like to create a web report so that for a web item to select a query with variant. Is it possible using WAD?
Or is there any parameter that could be used in the URL so that I can create directly the URL for this web report, without using WAD anymore?

Variable screen/variant screen authorization issue

HI All,
We have implemented standard Cost Center Overview Report(0SR_C02_Q0002) in BI 7.
We have three selection fields:
1.Company Code which is mandatory
2.My controlling Area which is also mandatory
3.Costcenter which is not mandatory
The requirement we are facing over here is that in the Variable screen/variant screen when I enter a company code, then I need to display dynamically only those "My Controlling Area" values which are assigned to that particular company code and not all. In the same way after selecting the appropriate "My controlling area" value, I need to display only those cost centers in the cost center selection field which are assigned to the selected company code and My controlling area combination and not all.
can anyone guide me on how to go about on this authorization issue at the variable screen itself.
Please treat this issue/requirement on high priority.

Hi,
I think that an alternative to solve your concern could be using Web Application Designer (WAD). In this respect, there are several design options, with different levels of complexity.
As the simplest alternative, you could create a WAD including your query and three Dropdown Boxes: one for Company, a second for Controlling area and another for Cost center. The four mentioned elements should be linked to the same dataprovider so, when you select a company, the options in the other two Dropdown boxes and the information in the query are updated.
In order to enforce mandatory filter selection at Company and Controlling area level, you should set NO_REMOVE_FILTER='X' in both two Dropdown boxes, so that "All values" option -which would mean no filtering- is not offered.

500 Internal Server Error while executing WAD

Hi Everyone,
I am executing a WAD and following the steps as mentioned. Opening a variant dialog box (this will show the values of the variables at that point in time) -> Changing any of the variable values - Clicking OK -> Clicking Cancel button in the Variant dialog -> Clicking on any other tab -> Get a 500 Internal Server Error with the following description. There is no short dump registered in the BY system. Please help me with any possible OSS Notes that would apply to this. Also please note that instead of directly clicking the "Cancel", if i use the "Check" button first and then "Cancel", I do not get this error.
The initial exception that caused the request to fail was:

Also, check ST22 and SM21 if they give some helpful information on this.

Automatic Colour settings problem for WAD Chart Column type

Hi,
In WAD (BI 7.0) Chart Creation i am having issues with colour settings for Chart item Column type with 3D. I have six key fig in query i am trying to show all KF in Chart. But it is showing only one colour for all keyfigs. atlast I have manually assigned different colours for different series, but no use... the issue remains same.. Please help me on this issue

Hi Harsh,
Please try the following options.
1. Try swapping the axes. Certain charts follow the YX convention.
2. Right Click > Edit > Click on 'Refine' > Click on the chart type on the right frame (Bars/Pie etc) > [OK] Vary Category by Color: Enable this checkbox.
3. If you have finished with these settings, you may switch back to Wizard mode to follow up the settings (Step 3 of 6 - Value Properties)
4. Under Categories in Wizard, just make sure you are giving options to suit all the Categories in an uniform fashion. To begin with don't bother to give a fixed Category Count. (As your chart size may increase dynamically based on GRID data)
5. Goto Refine > Click on Global Settings > Choose 'Color Palette' > Tradeshow/Enjoy/StreamLine/Custom : These are the optional themes which may be well adjusted to suit your requirements.

Variable input values issue with Portal reports in WAD

Hi Gurus,
We have issue with our reports which are created in WAD and when executed through CRM portal. We are executing the report with some selection criteria by changing default values, and once we get the out put we use SAVEAS option to save the report to favourites. But the issue arises when we open the reprot again by clicking OPEN tab next to SAVEAS button. It opens our report, but the selection screen vaues are getting changed to default instead of showing the values which we entered before saving the report.
ex: we have fiscalyear/period: default value is 001.2009 - 010.2009, but i changed the value to 001.2010 - 010.2010 and saved the out put of the report. when i reopen the report useing open option, it is showing 001.2009 - 010.2009 in input screen.
Please let me know if some one has come accross this issue, or is it standard SAP behaviour. It is working fine when executed through Query designer. This is not related to personlization of variabl.es.

Non-componded key in WAD

Dear Friends,
We are using BI7.00 and netweaver 2004S. We have created some finance report in WAD (Web application designer). In one of our report, we face problem which is that we have company, plant, fiscal year, fiscal year/period. There is no selection screen, when the report is executed, users can select the company and the plants respectivley to view the data.
The problem is with the fiscal year. When the fiscal year (defined as drop down box) is selected, we find the characters as shown below.
V3 002 2004 -> for period 002 and year 2004, V3 is the fiscayear variant. This is very annoying for our top management people who are only familiar with the regular month and year for example May 2004.
I tried various options like defining only the key for that character in bex reporting, but nothing has yielded result.
What we want is in the year, if i select 2004 then in the month column, the pop down should show jan,feb,mar,apr,may.......
Experts help and guidance required to achieve my requirement.

Actually Ravish Singh already has answered to first question.
1. Make a Custom Characterstics like ZFICSYEAR
2. Put ZFICSYEAR in the Infoprovider.
3. In the transformations populate ZFICSYEAR from 0FISCYEAR characterstics.
4. Modify ur query to include ZFICSYEAR in place of 0FISCYEAR.
If you'll follow as described above, you don't need to use replacement path variables because your month will be already not compounded.

How to bypass or modify WAD initialization with javascript

Hello WAD Developers
I want to understand what happens when you load and re-load a page, because I need to invoke some logic only the first time a page is run and not each time you click someone.
I have created some javascript logic which uses a drop-down to reset a data provider - similar to the Query View Selector item except that I can take advantage of variants. Part of my solution is that I load a drop-down select box from an external list of choices. The BW data part works wonderfully. But what also happens is that my select options load EVERY TIME any event happens on the page. This means that after the data is loaded and the select box is reset, it will not show what was selected. I've tried "first-time only" logic in the function, but since the page refreshes, it's always the first time.
Any suggestions?

Here's how the dropdown boxes normally work. Let's pretend my box shows four slots:
Select a State <== This is what you see in your box.
AL
GA
FL
If you select GA, then the next time you might see
GA <== Now I'll see the first selected item.
FL
IN
OK
Select a State <== Even after a selection,
AL <== I always see this
GA
FL
What I have coded the drop-down to do is like this:
1. In the html itself, there is only one item:
Selection Goes Here.
2. After my code loads, by running a function from the <body onload>, I get:
Variant1
Variant2
Variant3 etc.
If the user selects Variant2, the next time I should see:
Variant2
But instead my code shows me:
Variant1 each time.
I have code within the function to only load the drop-down when it is in the initial state, but my debugging shows
me the initial html drop-down values are reset each time. How can I persuade bw NOT to reset this code each time?
If this is javascript DOM stuff and someone can show me that instead, I'll be greatful.

you could use a wrapper around your Template:
Your Template is an Iframe in a 'top'-template.
'onload' in your bw-template you could then chek the upperframe for a variable, which tells you if your function was allready executed.

HowTo integrate WAD in BIApplicationFrame (WD4A)

this might be a simple question, yet I am not able to solve the problem search the entire web and SDN for a solution:
How can I integrate a simple WAD in a BIApplicationFrame in WebDynPro ABAP?
1.) I created and tested (executed) a WAD WAD_01 for a query (analysis_item) as DataProvider DP_1
2.) I created a WD4A component with a BIApplicationFrame
3.) I filled the following attributes in the BIApplicationFrame:
        dataProviderStateName: DP_1 (the dataprovider from the WAD)
        dataProviderStateType: Query (since this is a query)
        server: the full server name with port - myserver.domain:portnumber
        serverType: ABAP (since it is abap)
        templateID: WAD_01
When executing the WD4A application the BIApplicationFrame is shown with an error message from the SAP Server (404 file not found); so at least the server might be correctly stated.
The inner page in the frame is:

How to sort selectionv variants in web applications?

Hi,
we have a web application comprising several queries into a dashboard built with WAD.
The web application has to be started using a selection screen. Several selection variants have been setup, but they are sorted in a strange way.
Is there a setting to sort the variants in a certain way?

At the moment I don't think that there is a way to sort the variants. The sort order is according to the ID in table RSRPARAMETRIZA.

WAD bookmark functionality

We have created custom query using query designer.
Created WAD application calling created query. Added additional buttons. Export to excel, bookmark,filters etc.
How bookmark functionality work?
user expectation : after entering input values in selection screen, he/she will result . After pressing bookmark button they can bookmark it. Next time when they access bookmarked query. it should populate automatically values in selection scree.
as per my knowledge. : users should use variant for selection screen. bookmark for out columns.
Which expectation correct?
Actual today issue is : based on first case everything working except if there is default variable.
Please comment on this.

Book mark will actually save the current link to the book mark of the browser. This way when the user executes the link they end up in the variable screen again.
The only option is to use the variants available int eh variable screen. the suers can input values the first time , save it as variant and then can re use it the next time.

*** Question How to load a file into BI-Integrated Planning and use WAD 7.0

Hi, I created an manual DTP upload to my planning infocube and it works fine. The transformation rules convert 0CALMONTH into the relevant Calendar and Fiscal characteristics. So all of my Time Characteristics are fine, both Calendar and Fiscal.
However, When using the "How to load a file into BI-Integrated Planning and use WAD 7.0" solution, only the Calendar Characteristics are populated and not the Fiscal. The upload application somehow knows to populate the 0CALMONTH2, 0CALQUART1, 0CALQUARTER, and 0CALYEAR.
How can I get the upload to populate my Fiscal Period Characteristics?
Would it be best to modify the "Upload Application, or can I write a planning function to update the fiscal characteristics, or some other way?

My planning data is being uploaded via the SDN Planning File Upload Solution. What I did was end up modifiying the upload class ZCL_RSPLF_FILE_UPLOAD Method EXECUTE.
