VB Like tree in Webdynpro Java

We are using Webdynpro Tree UI Control for displaying functional location hierarchy. However the standard webdynpro Tree does not display clear lines associating children's with its parents - VB Tree has these lines which is very useful for the users. We tried to work around this issue by creating icons with vertical lines in it. But we were not able to get continues lines and its hard to display multiple lines using icons.
Have anyone encountered the same issue?. if yes, how did you resolve it?.
is SAP planning to incorporate this requirement in near future?.

Hi Arul,
I would suggest you use TreeByNestingTable Column element.
You can find it as Master Column in the Table UI element.
This will solve your problem because table row will solve the lines problem that you are facing.

How to edit the node value of a tree in webdynpro java

Hi ALL
I have Tree UI element where i got displayed all the nodes by calling the BAPI
Now my requirement is when i put the cursor at any node in the Tree struture then on click of insert button i need to insert the new node with the text , the user has to be option to give new text for the new node dynamically , so while adding the new node in a tree the tree has to choose the text for new node , like how to edit the node of a tree to add new text.
If any one can send the sample code on the same then it would be great help to me.
Similar requirement like in table UI Like however we are adding the new row in a table when we click on the insert button then cursor will go to that new row in a table where user can enter his details in the table.. now i am looking for the same requirement in a Tree UI element.
is it possible the same requirement in tree UI element in webdynpro for Java??

Hi kallki reddy
In general I think this is not possible in the form you'd like. It seems the Tree control is read-only thing always. It cannot provide editing capabilities.
Table is different thing. You can select within many different cell editors including Input Fields.
I guess that you scenario could be implemented not with Tree control, but with Table with Master Column. The master column allows to bring up a hierarchy into a plain table. So it's just a tree inside a table.

Hi,
If you are using NWDS 7.0 version, you have to create a Datasource in visual admin.
If you are using CE 7.1 version, you have to create a Datasource in NWA--Configuration Management->Infrastructure->Application Resources.

Display filesystem in Webdynpro Java Tree UI

Hi,
I want to display a filesystem structure and its files in a Webdynpro Java Tree UI. I am using Netweaver CE 7.11. The root node of this tree should be the local filesystem on C:\ or a network share for example, which the users can browse and select a file. Therefore I want to display a filebrowser in my Webdynpro Java.
My problem is how to access the filesystem and bind it to my tree UI.
Are there any examples or tutorials reagarding to this?
Any help would be appreciated

I'd say if you want to browser the user's file-system, you'd need to call a WebStart application, or even an Applet.
In case you wanna use the local file-system you can start with somethig like:

CATS webdynpro Java - working times in weekly view

Hi Team
1. Start & end time in Weekly view : Requirement is to allow shift planning employees to enter their working times in weekly view itslef. But as I had discovered that it is possible to enter it only in dailuy view of webdynpro Java application in ERP 6.0.
I came across a better Webdynpro ABAP application which exactly fits the requirement but it is part of EHP5, getting a mini upgrade for one application was also rejected. is it possible to implement in a short period of time without great impact ..anybody experienced on this?

2. Default Attendance type & target hours & start & end times from Infotypes : CATS0002 exit is called only when we go to next step ,is there any other way to default as soon as CATS screen is loaded ?

Thanks for your valuable inputs. I went and looked into the java file and found bit different.I dont see how they are getting the column headers like Saturday,Sunday,Monday...
Basically I need to keep one 'Submit' button on top of my table and on click, it should populate 8 hrs in the correspounding column.For eg. if its monday, it should default 8 hrs in monday column so that user dont have to manually type it in and also save these working hrs in the backend system without further click on 'Save' or 'Review'.
I still need to check with the ABAPers regading the user exit.
Also, Is it possible if I create a custom webdynpro application where I can use a BAPI that takes in the current day from my webdynpro and update the cats database and send an export parameter with success or error message.

But when i follwed that the last column "description" is not alligned in a straight line(for all rows)

I found that this static way of adding rows is not the right way( Keeping in mind the future enhancements)
So thought of trying it through table
i have used IWDtable ...but the look does'nt meets the requirement at all(it has header....border..scrollbar..rows and colums are seperated by lines---> which are not needed)
Could you please let me know is there a approach to do this?

How to use "Select options" in Webdynpro Java ?

As we know we can create RFC function module to access R/3 data from WebDynpro Java, but I would like to know, is there any other way to access R/3 without RFC function module? Because I would like to get data from IDoc directly without using function module, which present in R/3 side.

No need to create a new one.
There are already lots of standard FM present on the abap side which you can use to read the data of an idoc
e.g.
IDOCTYPE_READ_COMPLETE
IDOCTYPES_LIST_WITH_MESSAGES
IDOCTYPES_FOR_MESTYPE_READ
SEGMENT_READ_COMPLETE
IDOC_RECORD_READ
Use these standard FMs as RFCs for reading data from afuntion module.

Why we call adaptive RFC in webdynpro java..

I want to know why we call adaptive RFC connection in webdynpro java whenever we import new rfc in our java web dynpro project. why name ADAPTIVE RFC is used
if we make any structure changes in the model which we imported in web dynpro project , like adding a new field, or changing the length/datatype of the existing field, then we always have to reimport the model in our webdynpro project so why adaptive name used. wats especial in the word ADAPTIVE RFC

It's very simple.
1) Import your RFC.
For this:
-Right click on Models->Create Model->Select Import Adaptaive RFC then follow the steps.
-Go to Used Models. Right click -> Add... -> then select the model that you created.
2) I guess you have a view that is using a controller (Custom/Component) so:
-Go to Context Tab-
-Create a model node.
-Bind the model node with the model that you created.
-Go to the view where you want to put the Table ui element and add the table (Outline window->right click->Insert Child->Table)
-Go to context tab, add a model node, en map it (Edit context mapping) with the model node that you created in the controller.
-Go back to layout tab. Then in table properties, in datasource click on the "..." and select the output node of the model that you have created in the view.
-Then in Outline Window-> Right click on the table element-> Create binding-> check the attributes that you want to be binded to the table.
-Then follow the steps.
You have now your table binded to the rfc.
Finally what you have to do is to create a method to execute the rfc. Usually it is written in the controller. Something like this:

To call this method, first, you have to bind the input parameters and then execute it (you can do this wherever you want):

input.set<YourBapiParameters>(<YourParameter>);
wdContext.current<YourBapiName>Element.bind(input);
wdThis.wdGet<YourControllerName>(Controller().execute <YourBapiName>();

Hi Satish,
To expain it bit more clearly.
Copy the images you need to use in the application
Open your application in package explorer<Navigator>
Now Expend node src -> mimes -> components -> your application name with full package now right click on it and paste all the images here.
Now go to web Dynpro prospective and use the image name (full name of image like columnName.jpg )to assign it to imageSource property of the Table_Header (Caption Header). The image will be seen.

Lauching webdynpro java application

hi gurus
our scenario is like this..
when employee fills the educational assistance form (customized webdynpro java application) and clicks on the submit button , it should go for approval..while manager opens the workitem it should lauch the same WD form in display mode with approve and reject button. and when he approves ..it should update the data base & it should sends a intimation mail to the employee that his application has been approved...
MY QUESTIONS :
1) how to trigger a event from WD java application to start this workflow ...
2) how the values can be passed from WD application container to workflow container .i got some ideas by reading some forums for this i want to use SAP_WAPI_READ_CONTAINER , where i want to use this function module
3) it is better to use the user decision step for the approval process ? . if i am using this then i want to send the form as a attachment in user decision step, how it can be achieved ?
4)what all r the other settings i want to maintain .

I would definitely prefer to open a form with "Approve" and "Reject" buttons instead of having it as an attachment in a user decision step. Especially if it is a application where a user never approves without opening the attachment. For example i may not prefer to approve a leave requisition without viewing it! In that case it will just be an overhead for the user to open the form manually everytime before approving. So make a decision on this based on the use of your application.
Moreover it is not that tough either (atleast from a workflow perspective) to launch the webdynpro from UWL. Create a custom task and create appropriate entries in transaction SWFVISU (hope you are on or above ECC 5.0) to link your task and WD application. Thats it your application should be ready and shud be launched from UWL.
But definitely in a custom application your webdynpro developers need to do a lot of work (as we did one in our previous projects) irrespective of whether it is launched directly as a task or as an attachment.
Performacewise providing "Approve" and "Reject" will just increase one RFC call from your application (to complete your workitem).

1-I want to write webdynpro java application to call RFC
2-Call RFC with USNAM parameter
3-Get PWD output parameter and write it's value into View TextInput field.
I wrote application but I did not get PWD (output parameter) value. I checked RFC running poreperly.I did not achieve to get PWD.
How can I do that?

I checked RFC, it is running properly and getting the output value.
And I used command below, but it produces error

Problem with native offline Interactive Forms in webdynpro java.

I have a java webdynpro project build like the one in this tutorial:

The "Online" part of the tutorial is working but in the offline scenario I get no data in WebDynpro from the Interactive form (all of Context Attributes have a value "null") after the use of "Submit to SAP" button. this is the button from the Web Dynpro Native Library in the LC Designer.
the versioning information:
Netweaver 7.0 WAS on SP13
ADS SP13
Lifecycle designer 7.1
We updated the ZCI template according to the SAP notes.
Does anyone know this problem and how to fix it ?

To work on adobe forms in webdynpro java you need to install ALCD(Adobe Life Cycle Designer) along with NWDS(NetWeaver Developer Studio).
