  • Problem trying to create and manage external tables

    Hello guys,
I am having problems having created my external tables trying to select from them. I created the table thus:
    create table job_ext
    (job_id number(3),
    FUNCTION varchar2(30) )
organization external (type oracle_datapump default directory test_dir
access parameters (records delimited by newline fields delimited by "~" (job_id number(3) ,
    FUNCTION varchar2(30) ) )
    location ('testdump.lst')
but on running select * from job_ext, I get the error
    ERROR at line 1:
ORA-29913: error in executing ODCIEXTTABLEOPEN callout
    ORA-29400: data cartridge error
KUP-00554: error encountered while parsing access parameters

what am I not doing right.
Secondly, I wish to ask if an directory object is created, will it be visible on the OS file system?? I am using Oracle 10g complete reference for study but it does not throw light on this.
    thanks

    Hi,
It looks like you may need to grant permissions to the target directory.
The ORA-29913 error can also happen in external tables when you don't grant read and write permissions to the directory:
    CREATE OR REPLACE DIRECTORY extdir AS '/u01/app/oracle./extdir';
    GRANT READ ON DIRECTORY extdir TO myowner;
    GRANT WRITE ON DIRECTORY extdir TO myowner;
Also, see BUG 5172459 (MetaLink Note:373168.1)
The problem is that the message file for external tables oin not the English version. These steps will address the issue:
    1. cd $ORACLE_HOME/rdbms/mesg
    2. cp KUP<lang>.msb KUP<lang>.msb.BAK
    3. cp kupus.msb KUP<lang>.msb

    Hi
I am having a scenario where I need to activate the external number assignment for a batch in a specific plant. ( We do have around 50 plants)
Internal batch number and Automatic batch number assignment is activated at the client level. which is creating worries for me.
with activation of external numbers for batches , I do want to make this mandatory to put external batch at the time of <b>MIGO for Raw materials</b> and <b>CO11N at the time of operation confirmation for finshed goods</b> <u><i>( obvisously only for the materials having Batch management check activated in material master )</i></u>
Grateful if somebody could help me in acheving this..

    Hello Vikesh
Thanks for the reply. But bro..as I mentioned before also , i caant do the changes mentioned by you as its used by other 10 plants for the same client.
I need to do this for a specific plant only , and We dont want to create batch manually  , system should create batch number with external number range for the movement typr 101 <b>( for raw materials at the time of MIGO and for finished goods at the time of prod.order operation confirmation in CO11N)</b>.

  • Library Management: External Hard Drive

I am running aperture 3 off of my laptop and, due to my hard drive filling up, hoping to house my library on an external hard drive. Ideally I would be able to set up a smart album for each project that housed photos rated 3 stars and up. The entire library would be housed on the external, but the smart albums(photos 3 and up) would be housed/synced to my laptop.
Anyone know how to set this up?
    Thanks

Hi zuzuvela. The result you want is easy to obtain. You've conceived of the solution backwards, however, and additionally are misled by a misunderstanding of what the Aperture Library is. (It is a collection of file references, metadata, and preview images; it may or may not contain photo files.)
Keep your Aperture Library on your laptop HD. Always import to your Library. Set up a top-level Smart Album which includes only images rated 1-star or 2-star. In your workflow, know that all images you rate 1-star or 2-star are going to be stored on your external drive. Periodically connect your external drive, select all the files in your Smart Album, and using "File→Relocate Masters" move them to your external drive. That's it.
You now have a working Library on your laptop which contains references to all your photos.
. All unrated photos have Managed Masters (they are contained by your Library)
. All 1- and 2-star images have Referenced Masters (the Masters reside on your external drive)
. All 3-, 4-, and 5-star images have Managed Masters (the Masters are contained by your Library)
Read the User Manual page on the difference between Managed Masters and Referenced Masters. The essential difference is that you cannot make adjustments to or export images with off-line Masters. (This is, imho, a worthy trade-off, and the best one for you to make: you get to clear your internal drive of a lot of data of secondary value while retaining almost all the functionality you might need.)
NB: you are responsible for backing-up your Referenced Masters. Aperture does not do this.
A couple of thoughts about the Aperture Library in general -- good to keep in mind as you think this through:
The Aperture Library may or may not contain your original photo files. Aperture doesn't actually care where those files are stored -- it just needs to know where they are (and whether they are currently available). The name "Library" is ill-chosen, as it is only applicable when all of your files are converted to Managed Masters. To continue the library metaphor, it is much better to think of the Aperture "Library" as the card catalog and reference desk of a library. Sometimes the books are in the Library (you have Managed Masters). Sometimes the books are not in the Library -- they are somewhere else, and they may not even be available (you have Referenced Masters). Sometimes -- and this is extremely useful, because, face it, library shelves aren't expensive but they aren't free either -- some of your books are in the Library, and some of them are stored across the street, and some of them are in the cheap warehouse district (you have a mix of Managed and Referenced Masters).
    Good Luck.

  • Best way to manage external photo collection with iPhoto?

I have a large collection of photos that now resides on an external NAS drive. I used Canon ZoomBrowser EX software on Windows to download the images from my cameras, but I want to start using iPhoto on my MacBook instead. There's no metadata associated with the photos, it's just the JPG files, so the fact that I used ZoomBrowser doesn't really matter.
I want to keep the photos on the NAS drive, so they can be accessed from other (Windows) computers in my house, and I'd like to keep to existing folder structure I'm using there. It would be nice if photos could be added to the library from any computer, but I can live without that if necessary. It would also be nice if I could add photos from my iPhone to the library when syncing with iTunes, without syncing existing photos back to my iPhone, but I might have to use a separate library from the iPhones photos and copy them to the "main" library.
I know I can use either an iPhoto managed library or referenced library with the external drive, but I'm not sure which is the best option given my requirements. Will either or both allow me to retain the folder structure I'm already using? The metadata created by iPhoto doesn't need to be on the external drive, since I'm only using iPhoto from one machine, but it's okay if that data is on the external drive (even though that will slow down iPhoto).
    Suggestions?

    Best suggestion? Use something else.
I don't say this lightly, and you'll see I have some experience with the app but the scenario you describe is not one best suited to iPhoto.
Given: you want the photos files to reside on the NAS.
An iPhoto Library in Managed mode - cannot live on a NAS. iPhoto needs to have the Library sitting on disk formatted Mac OS Extended (Journaled). Users with the Library sitting on disks otherwise formatted regularly report issues including, but not limited to, importing, saving edits and sharing the photos.
Also, in Managed mode, the Library is simply unavailable to non-Apple devices. Period. Iphoto has no cross platform ability whatever.
    So that's out.
iPhoto in Referenced Mode is inherently unsafe when the Library is on one drive and the photos on another. Here's a fuller discussion of the issues:
    https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3062728?tstart=0
But the take away is number 3:  If you have the Library on one volume and the photos on another you if anything changes in the path to a file (Like if you upgrade your machine, move the files on the NAS or on to another one?) then the link will break, and you'll have to repair it manually. For every photo in the Library. One at a time.
Simply that's enough for me to rule iPhoto out.
Aperture has no such limitations in Reference Mode. You can repair paths to images, manipulate the storage via the application and so on. It's more expensive, sure, but more powerful. I think it's a better fit for what you describe.

  • Security Audit Log SM19 and Log Management external tool

    Hi all,
we are connecting a SAP ECC system with a third part product for log management.
Our SAP system is composed by many application servers.
We have connected the external tool with the SAP central system.
The external product gathers data from SAP Security Audit Log (SM19/SM20).
The problem is that we see, in the external tool,  only the data available in the central system.
The mandatory parameters have been activated and the system has been restarted.
The strategy of SAP Security Audit Log is to create many audit log file for each application server. Probably, only when SM20 is started, all audit files from all application servers are read and collected.
In our scenario, we do not use SM20 since we want read the collected data in the external tool.
Is there a job to be scheduled (or something else) in order to have all Security Audit Log available (from all application servers) in the central instance ?
    Thanks in advance.
    Andrea Cavalleri

I am always amazed at these questions...
For one, SAP provides an example report ( RSAU_READ_AUDITLOG_EXTERNAL ) to use BAPIs for alerts from the audit log yet 3rd party solutions seem to be alergic to using APIs for some reason.
However, mainly I do not understand why people don't use the CCMS (tcode RZ20) security templates and monitor the log centrally from SolMan. You can do a million cool things in SolMan... but no...

    Julius

  • What is best way to manage external storage for 160 GB Tiger iMac

Unfortunately I bought my 160 GB G5 a month before the Intel iMacs came out. I never thought the teens would take to movie making the way they have. I am constantly at 150 GB plus and have filled a 300 GB Maxtor external with a whole system backup image and then a whole boatload of iMovie files. I have purchased a new 500 GB WD, but is still unopened. I have also purchased but not installed Leopard. What is the recommended way to manage the external storage of all of my video - they want to make more movies! Would Time Machine work by keeping movies on for a couple of weeks and then deleting so I would have access through that interface? Help, I can't afford a newer iMac yet.

If they make movies, you will eat space. Be grateful, because if they get real good, they will be able to buy you a room full of storage. LOL.
Seriously, you do have a problem. Even though you could exchange the internal for a much larger drive, they will keep filling them. Film real estate is large. Just keep daisy chaining till you reach your tolerance limit, and if they want too make a movie after that, burn any you must delete to DVD, and then erase it.
Of course, remember, any file that is not at least 2 copies is at risk. You may want to burn some of those to DVd as backups, anyway. DVD's are very cheap.

  • Managing External Content Types - make it read only?

I have a simple SharePoint list with an External Data column. When I edit item where the corresponding data was removed from the External Content Type I get this error:
No exact match was found. Click the item(s) that did not resolve for more options. You can also use Select button to
    choose External Data.
I assume this is by design and I cannot delete underlying data and keep the value in the list - is this correct?
So my question now - is it possible to keep that info in the external list but disable in a picker so new records cannot be created with that particular value? How do I do it?
    Thanks,

I don't understand the question exactly, could you restate it.  Sorry mate, I might just be braindead.
But, as far as the issue, it is by design.  the column is a lookup columns which essentially ties to the external data.  if that data is removed, the column on your simple list becomes invalid and any edits of the simple list item will require
    it to be changed.
are you wanting to make the ECT read only?  that's simple enough.  you can pop open SPD and edit the ECT, then remove the C/E/D operations (create/update/delete).  That will not, however make it read-only in any other systems that access that
external data, as I assume its not just SP or else it wouldn't be external

  • First mac, questions on managing external drives

Have been using iphones, ipods, apple tv's, ipads for a long time.  Finally got my first mac (macbook air).  Hoping some people can help with a few questions on external drives, I have two nas drives on my network:
    - In finder each drive shows up with its official name, is there any way to give it an alias type name (in windows I would map it to a letter).
    - On the NAS there is a 'share' folder with all of my content.  I added this to my devices section for easy access, but again, is there a way to give this an alias?  Both NAS's have 'share' folders and I can't tell the difference between them.  I see an option to create an 'alias' for folders within share, but can I create an alias name that apps can recognize for the 'share' itself?
    - I added the 'share' to my login list for my account to mount it on startup, is that the best way to do it?  I checked the box to hide it but the finder still pops up with it on startup.
    - General question on finder.  When I download and install software it usually shows up on the desktop and in finder with an 'eject' button next to it.  Aren't these just folders with files in them or are they something different that causes them to have an eject button?  Just trying to understand how things work behind the scenes and it is confusing to see downloaded software behave like an external device that you would eject.
Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.  Really like the mac in general, but just need to adjust to all the new concepts.
    Thanks,
    Peter

    i may have an alternative:
if you are comfortable with AppleScript, you could edit this script to suit your situation:
    try
    mount volume "afp://<AirPort Extreme Name>.local/<Share Volume Name>"as user name "<Share Username>" with password "<Share password>"
    end try
this script just places the drive's icon on the desktop. save it as an application and add that to your login items.
credit for the script goes to Tesserax.

    those are .dmg's (disk images).

  • Azure API Management - external endpoints

    Hi,
I'm trying to implement the following scenario by using the preview Azure API management.
I have a Web API, hosted in an OnPrem IIS. I want to expose this API via the Azure API Management.
How can I manage exposing an OnPrem endpoint? Must I first be sure that my existing OnPrem API is published on the Internet? Or can I use a Service Bus Relay endpoint?
    Thanks.

    Hi David,
    Thanks for posting!
Base on my understanding, If your website is hosted on-permission( Intranet), you need expose the endpoints for Azure API management , and you need use the http or https endpoints for this feature. You could use azure service bus service to expose
your endpoints like this blog (http://blogs.msdn.com/b/paolos/archive/2013/10/24/how-to-integrate-a-windows-azure-web-site-with-a-lob-app-via-a-service-bus-relay-service.aspx
) and this thread  (http://stackoverflow.com/questions/9626386/relay-webhttprelaybinding-to-webapi-service ), Also, you could publish the site on internet
and use the API url (http://blogs.iis.net/tomkmvp/archive/2010/02/03/how-do-you-access-iis-behind-a-nat-router.aspx ).If I am misunderstanding , please
    let me know free.

  • Extranet Management (External Users)

    Dear all,
we are working with JAM to support Project Collaboration. All of our employees are working with groups related to projects.
But we also startet to work with people from outside the company, mostly customers.
So they invite external group members to single groups.
I would like to know if someone else has experience in working with external users.
    1) We have sometimes issues with their initial log on - the users get locked or the invitation cannot be opened in the browser. We know that there are specific browser settings required, which are fulfilled, but there must be something missing in some cases. Was someone facing similar issues and how did you fix that?
    2) How do you handle password reset? we always have to open a case for JAM support.
    thank you in advance

  • Quality Management - external storage?

    Hi All,
has anyone successfully set QM 2.6 up to store recordings on an external drive?
The documentation isn't very helpful and I can't seem to figure out what I could be missing or configuring incorrectly.
The QM server is part of the domain. The domain user I'm configuring has full access to the shared folder. I've tried setting up the external storage in the PostInstall tool with every possible path string I could imagine without recording anything to the share drive. Local storage works fine by the way.
Can someone having a working config give me hints on this.
    It would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,

    Hiee,
It is not like service PO does not have revision.
REVNO will only exists for any document if amendment is made after releasing it. If in EKKO for all service PO revision number is blank then test if version management is active for document type
    MM->Purchasing->Version management -> External documents
Here check for your doc type and purchase org version management is active.
