Vertically align top on textField

I have dynamic textField and need to align my text vertically top on textField. How can I set my text vertically top ?

I don't understand your question... do you want the text on just one line or do you want the text to go like:
a
b
c
d
Please explain a little more.

  • Changing Table defaults to Font to Normal, and Align-Vertical to Top - DW 5 (kind of a repost)

    Hello,
    This is pretty much a reposting of my last 2 questions...
    In DW 5, trying to change Table default settings to
    - Normal font (right now default is Bold)
    - Vertical Alignment to Top (current default is middle) (so that text and lists will start at the top and fill down, like an ordinary document or table in Word)
    I have multiple columns across the screen, different categories of events, news, resources, that I will be updating over time.
    Ideally I would like to be able to 'simply' type and update the listings as needed (including bolding, indenting, the occasional image), just like in a document. I know this will involve tables, especially when it comes to 'indenting' text under a heading.
    Updating a website. My in-progress work-up is here - http://www.wnytrauma.org/index33.html  - (I know the coding is probably a mess, but I'm an old dog and this is a new trick).

    If you can't find a stylesheet named outline-table-cells.css, it might be a name inserted by my Firebug.
    In any case, try adding a rule with these properties in any css that your page uses:
    table td, table th {
        font-weight: normal;
        vertical-align: top;
    Note: The default font weight for a table cell (td) is normal
    The default font weight for a table header cell (th) is bold.
    If you were to use td instead of th you would not need the font-weight: normal property to override the default

    I have a table with 3 columns with one row above and below
    Text in left and right column is aligned to the top but in
    the middle column the text will not align to the top. In IE it is
    correct but in Firefox 1.6 it is down by 1 line

  • Vertical alignment in table cells not working in generated output

    Using RH9 WebHelp. I have created a simple table style. Because I could not find out how to make cell vertical alignment (top, center, bottom)  part of the style definition, I have been applying it manually to individual whole tables using the cell alignment properties.
    This worked fine for a while, but at some point I noticed that even though the tables look right in Design view, with top-aligned cells contents, it gets hosed in generating output and all tables now come with vertically centred cell contents even through the in-line formatting for top alignment is still there in the code.
    Any ideas?

    Hi Mike,
    I'm confused to where you applied the vertical alignment. Normally, I would set this for the table cells and not the table.
    CSS has indeed an order in rendering: There is a point system for determining the CSS to apply. See http://net.tutsplus.com/tutorials/html-css-techniques/quick-tip-understanding-css-specific ity/ for a short introduction.
    And as an extra to the point system, the place where the styling is present, also determines the styling. Browsers use the following hierarchy (in descending order)
    User style sheet defined in the browser.
    Inline styling.
    Style block in page.
    External style sheet
    You can overwrite styling from a lower order using the !important declaration. You can use this to make sure that inline styling will not be able to overwrite styles from your style sheet. (Unless the inline styles use !important themselves.) Example:
    table.mytable td {
         vertical-align: middle !important;
    This will make all the content of table cells in the table with the class mytable to be vertically centered.

  • Vertical Alignment issue in Safari

    I have an issue in Safari displaying content of a table cell as if it's middle aligned and not vertically aligned. It works fine in IE and FF, but not in Safari.
    I am using a basic CSS setting for the table cell with vertical-align=top. I have also put in in the td tag valign=top and still have the problem where the content is middle aligned and not top aligned.
    Has anyone seen something like this and know what I can do to get it to work?

    Do you have a sample or a screenshot that illustrates this?
    Check out the Safari Developer's forum for more help; this is mainly used by people who are Users of Safari vs. Web Developers (who should know the difference between browsers).

    </div>
    I've tried encasing the table in another div and set THAT element to vertically align.

  • Vertical Alignment Issue

    I have a problem. I've browsed through existing solutions and
    haven't found anything that works for me.
    I am working on a site that has lots of nested tables. The
    navigation bar and some other text are in a column on the left (in
    a nested table) and the page content is in a table on the right (in
    a nested table). However, the image and text in the left column
    continue to migrate down whenever I add too much content in the
    right column.
    This happens only on page where the height of the content in
    the right column exceeds the height of the content in the left.
    ALL properties for all tables have the vertical alignment set
    to "top" not to "default". Any help would be greatly appreciated. I
    am attaching the code for my style.css file.

    Yes. I stand corrected. Thanks Murray.
    valign="top" is the correct HTML syntax. valign:top is some
    invalid hybrid
    of HTML & CSS. Regardless, it can't/won't/doesn't work.

  • Why don't cells align top?

    First, I am a print designer and this web stuff is just too geeky for me. I never had a problem with this type of thing in FrontPage, but it seems to me like DW likes to do what it wants to do regardless of what you do with your mouse. What I mean by this is I click on something and it doesn't "stick".
    Anyway, I'm trying to make this simple little table (yes, tables, CSS is a programming language and I don't get it). I want the images and text to line up at the top of each cell. Used to be easy.
    Examples here:
    http://www.ashronbilling.com/wpe/waterproofing.html
    http://www.ashronbilling.com/wpe/decks.html
    http://www.ashronbilling.com/wpe/undertile.html
    WHY do the first item in waterproofing.html and the last item in undertile.html refuse to align top? Why do all items in decks work? I know I have messed around with these files because I get frustrated and then things just get weird and don't work. Every time I get to a point where I want to punch my monitor I start over and I end up with the same cr@p.
    Is there a heirarchy between HTML and CSS? Why can't you use JUST ONE? I think I'm compounding my problems by just trying to click on everything there is to click on. Don't have these problems in print...
    I appreciate your patience with me and just need someone to show me the way to do this correctly.

    waterproofing.html page:
    Paragraph tags have default margin and padding already set. You need to firstly zero it out by amending your paragraph style1 css as shown below. Then adjust how much space you want by adding some back in top, right, bottom, left. 0, 0, 0, 0.
    Also you have an extra } brace after your style8 css selector which will interfere with the css cascade if you don't remove it.
    .style1 {
        font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;
        font-size: 10pt;
        vertical-align: top;
    margin: 0 0 0 0;
    padding: 0 0 10px 0;
    .style8 {
        font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;
        font-size: 14pt;
        color: #2260a6;
    } /* Delete this rogue bracket */
    .cell-top {
        vertical-align: top;
    undertile.html:
    I'd make sure you control the margin and the padding on the paragraph tags like the previous page.
    .style1 {
        font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;
        font-size: 10pt;
        vertical-align: top;
    margin: 0 0 0 0;
    padding: 0 0 10px 0;
    Also you need to make sure the images in the left table cell are aligned to the top of the cell. By default they are aligned vertically in the middle of the cell.
    You could select the <td> cells individually, go to the properties inspector and select 'top' from the 'Vert' align pop up in the lower left corner.
    You could tell all content on your page to align to the top of the table cells with css:
    table td {
    vertical-align: top;
    Frustration WILL I'm afraid get the better of you unless you know how html and css work. There is no quick fix, its months and months of a steep learning curve, just like any other profession. It takes time and patience.

  • Vertically align middle input text in a text box

    I'm creating Flash-based software that has text boxes where users write in the answers to questions. I want the text that the user types to be vertically aligned to the middle of the text box, so that even if the response is two or three lines, it is still centered in the box.
    It doesn't appear that I can accomplish this through the properties window in Flash. Am I missing something? Or is it possible to set the properties of the text box with actionscript, and would that allow me to vertically align the text?
    Thanks!

    You're not the first to ask this, but if you got an answer of how to do it, you'd likely be the first.  I don't think it is possible since there doesn't appear to be any sort of top margin property available for TextFields.  You might be able to fake something like that though if you think about it... like using the changed event of a textfield to reposition it vertically in a pseudo border/bkgnd.
    If you do come up with a solution, you should share it here... as I said, you're not the first to ask.

  • Vertical alignment in cross-tab

    Hi,
    Anyone of you know how to align the measures Vertically Centered In Cross-tab report? As far as i know, there is option for Horizontal alignment; but no options for Vertical alignment. By default the text are docking on top aligned!!!
    Help me out to solve this or any work-around to achieve this?
    Thanks in Advance
    Viswa

    Hey Anindita,
    I was not asking about the text orientation. I want to align the text in the cross tab report to be vertically aligned center.
    I want the text in each cell should be aligned centered both horizontally as well as vertically. Horizontal alignment is available in cross tab formatting but not for the vertical alignment.
    Thanks
    Viswa

  • Vertical alignment is middle regardless of setting

    Running LiveCycle Designer ES 8.2 and Adobe Acrobat Pro 9 on Windows 7.
    I'm designing a form with many text fields.  Most of them work great.  However, I several text fields--some standalone, some table cells--where the vertical alignment of the user-entered value always shows as middle.
    For example, this text field has the vertical alignment set to bottom, using the paragraph pallette:
    This is the same field with the alignment set to top:
    And this is the same field again, with the alignment set to middle:
    You will notice that they all look the same--always middle.  I'm able to set the caption alignment fine, and I'm aware of the way to distinguish between adjusting the caption and value properties in the paragraph pallette.
    I can't determine any pattern as to why some of my text fields align fine according to the settings I specify, and some of them are always, always middle-aligned.
    Are there any other settings or conditions which may be overriding my alignment settings for these specific fields?
    It first started happening with table cells, so I assumed some table setting was causing the problem (although I never found it). Once standalone text fields started doing it too, though, I was extra stumped.
    I am able to adjust all the horitzonal alignment settings fine.  I have tried deleting the offending cells and starting from scratch, but it hasn't helped.
    Any suggestions or help would be appreciated!
    Thanks,
    Marybeth

    This seems odd, but you need to also set the property JAVASE_DB_INTERACTION to false.
    <p>
    propertiesMap.put(EntityManagerFactoryProvider.JAVASE_DB_INTERACTION, "false");

  • Vertical align to center in a div

    Hi,
    I'm putting together a css layout in dreamweaver CS3, i have a basic nav bar with a solid black colour with text on top. I'm trying to vertical align the text to the center, currently it's center horizontally, but the text is right at the top of the div. The only way i've been able to change the position is to use "line height"
    Any there any easy way to do this in css?
    Any help is much appreciated, thanks.

    Hi again,
    I'm having a bit of trouble trying to get my main text area vertically center on one of my pages, i have a two column layout(text area on the right). The above methods don't seem to work, they just seem expand my whole bodyArea downwards.
    Currently my codes look like this:
    Layout:

    </style></head>
