Very sick of iCal ? ?

Hi,
I have been more than one month didn't turn on my iMac because I'm in the business trip,
then, when I turn on again, my iCal going to completely blank, all the calendars, events, to do lists, notes and reminders were disappeared, even the iCal Preferences and all the function on the "File", "Edit" and "View" menu were not responded, also can't quit normally, got to be force quit. The only things that able to do is all my previous events and notes can sync to my iPhone through iTunes, in fact which is not able to launch iCal on my iMac.
Does anyone can figure out that ??

Do you notice any pattern to the freezing, particular sites, particular kinds of content?
In case this is a Flash issue, for purposes of diagnosis, can you set the Flash plugin to "Ask to Activate". With that setting, instead of sites being able to immediately run Flash, your approval will be required. This will reduce noise from Flash ads and trackers and help distinguish Flash-generated issues from other issues.
To try this, open the Add-ons page using either:
* Ctrl+Shift+a
* "3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons
In the left column, click Plugins. Look for "Shockwave Flash" and change "Always Activate" to "Ask to Activate".
When you visit a site that wants to use the Flash, you should see a plugin notification icon in the address bar that looks a bit like Lego block. And usually at least one of the following: a link in a black rectangle in the page and an infobar sliding down between the toolbar area and the page.
If you don't want to play Flash, just ignore the notifications. If you do, click the plugin notification icon to allow it.
Does it help?

Even I cant believe this is happening again! i'm once again asking for help with my account.  Since im very sick I ask that u look into my account and read the hell verizon has put me through and assist ending the hell once and for all even if that means ending my contract, i just want the hell over. I went into my bill tonight and the mess was still there I paid $110. that's what I owe

I guess I spoke too soon!  I really can't believe this nightmare is not over yet! My account is still wrong.  The credit that I was due totaled $63.00  I am looking at a message on my phone saying that $21.01 was credited which makes my balance $219.72.  I received a text the following day that says, I processed your credit of $30.00 and your new balance $216.73 how is that possible?  None of the late fees were credited and the amount due for my monthly charges are wrong.  Before any changes were made to my data plan back in Nov. My monthly charges were $140.00, I needed my hot spot back and i was told that the hot spot will increase my bill $10 for each phone that totals $20.  The customer rep that change my data plan at that time also gave me a credit of $20 to compensate for the increase until I had time to talk with customer service about the mix-up with my Hot spot. I originally had the hot spot, but the rep that change my plan almost a year prior told me nothing was changing except I was getting more for less money.  I explained to that rep that I need my hot spot 4 times a year...and I don't want my plan to have any changes. To verify what I'm telling u check my account and see that I called from Albany New York wanting to know where my hot spot was and I was told I didn't have the hot spot on my account since the last data change!  I lost money once again due to the verizon rep's.  so my current data plan the rep promised would increase $20 which makes my monthly charges that were $140 prior to the change $160 after the hot spot was returned to my account.  Then I was given a $12 credit per month for 12 months because of so many mistakes made to my account so with that $12 credit my monthly charges should $148 + surcharges + taxes and that's not what I see. I do know this much right now my account is in such a shambles I can hardly see the light at the end if there is an end!  I need real help!

  • Hello All: ) I have video of a child who is very sick on my black berry and I want to get burn to a disk for his mom yet when I try to use my Dell laptop it will not recognize it PLEASE help any one before his time is to late :.(

Please its very important I get his family this Video from my Crackberry phone to a computer disk. I am trying to use Windows DVD Maker with DVD+r disks. Video is of his best friend trying to come to grip with his up coming voyage back to our father's Home (( to politely say it.
To God be the Glory, for through him all things become possible!

Hy and welcome to the forum
Now where is that video stored means on memory card. If yes then there are two ways to get this to your PC
    1.    Plug out the memoy card from the BB and use a card reader to read the contents of the Card
    2.    Use desktop manager. Means install the Desktop Mananger. Plug your BB to the PC using cable. Wait for the pc to finish installation. Now Say yes for mas storage. And open the driver mounted to the PC (Go to My Computer to see that drive) and copy th video.
Now to burn it on the DVD. This can be done using various ways
I recomend this time only two softwares fo you
    1.   Windows Movie Maker
    2.   Nero
The first one is the builtin software for windows and the second one is very excellent. Because it has many features. I use 9 or later fo these tricks. You must have a DVD writer drive installed on your PC and have a DVD disk either recordale or rewritable.

  • How can I change the settings so when I delete an email from my iPhone it will also delete from my iPad.....very sick of deleting the same emails two times

How can I change the settings wit mail so that when I delete my Verizon email from my iPhone it will also delete from my iPad too.... Seems like I shouldn't have to delete my email in three places...iPhone ..iPad ...and desktop

Don't know which email host you are using, but if this is a POP account, you can't do it. If IMAP, then deleting one email should delete it on all other devices.

  • Very sick Macbook Pro OS v 10.6.8 - initially running slow so I tried backing up to Time Machine and reloading the OS but the install disk failed. I was able to recover from the Time Machine back up but many applications are not working properly. Help!

I am also no longer able to back up using Time Machine (backups fail), can't access iPhoto (which was a problem before attempting to reload OS) and I suspect other apps are no longer working. The computer is however running faster in Safari and Mail...any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

If there are any files you can transfer to  a regular storage drive do that first and then disconenct all drives.
Hold c boot off the 10.6.8 disk and use Disk Utility to Erase with Zero option the hard drive, takes some time, let it complete as it's mapping off any bad or failing sectors.
Then install 10.6. log in and update to 10.6.8 (important!)
Now use Migration Assistant to transfer over just your user files, we need to rescue those first out of TimeMachine's EVIL clutches, once you've got that, transfer them to the regular storage drive and disconnect.
Note: if your 10.6 disk fails, call Apple for a replacement, you need the machine specific version, the 10.6.3 retial doesn't have iLife and only works for machines pre 10.6.3 release, not afterwards. Factory installed 10.6.4 machines and afterwards need machine specific disks.
    Then either:
Log into the admin/first set up user on the machine and delete the Migrated user, then reboot and use Migration assistant again to TM everything this time
    Or
Just install all your programs again from fresh sources.
If your TM drive is really hosed, then you'll need Data Rescue $99 to read the TM files directly and transfer the results to another regular storage drive (not the first one just in case), then pick through the debris and locate your files and transfer them to another drive.
I don't like TimeMachine, but for newbies it's better than nothing.
(I prefer cloning my entire OS X parititon instead, I can access it from any computer (Linux, Mac or PC) and I also can boot my Mac from it. I use Carbon Copy Cloner, but that's for later once your all better. )

  • Sudden very sick Photoshop CS2 after months of no problems

after months of trouble free pshop cs2 on a QUAD with 4 GB RAM 10.4.8
    recently added CR3.6.
    repaired perms
    verified disk
    ran disk warrior
    re installed a new CS2
    detached all external fwires
    any other app works
if i load pshp cs2 most features work
if i load one image and grab the paintbrush and try to use any of the numbers to control opacity i can no longer do anymore with the program
it freezes up.. Raw images load as do jpegs as do tiffs but if i try to use the numbers to control i get freezing
I cannot for the life of me understand what happened.
    What is left to do?
    (erasing the drive?)

maybe first try running hardware test - should be on OS install DVD - seen Photoshop issues caused by failed processor.
in user home folder - library folder - preferences folder
look for file "Com.Adobe.Photoshop.plist", move it to desktop
also look for Adobe folder inside the preferences folder
look for similar files in root level library folder - preferences folder
move all Adobe preferences folders to desktop
look for any cache folder for Adobe in user home folder-library folder - caches folder and move it to desktop
do not do anything with system folder - things could get messed up, otherwise should be ok.
    restart machine
all Adobe customized setting will revert to defaults
try using CS 2 - if works, delete all the stuff from desktop after a few days, if that does not help, move the files/folders back to their locations
attempt at your own risk though

  • IPod mini is very sick, please help

Problem: When my mini is fully charged (8 hrs) and updated, I can listen to about one or two songs (all songs are playable at this point). After a song or two, the battery icon drains completely and the screen says "low battery". The iPod then turns off by itself. This happens every single time, no matter how "charged" the ipod is. When I press the middle button to turn it back on the battery icon in the upper corner is empty, and about half of my songs (albums) will play. The iPod will get to an album that it won't play and skip through every song on the album (even albums purchased from iTunes). When I can find an album that my mini will play, the battery slowly creeps up to about a third full, and I get about an hour or two of playing time before the battery is drained. I find this weird b/c my mini does not discriminate against certain songs, but ENTIRE albums (purchased from iTunes and imported CDs, doesn't matter). Meaning, if my mini plays one song on an album, every song on that album is playable. If it can't play one song on an album, no songs on that album will play. It doesn't matter if I'm playing it in shuffle mode, through all songs, by artist, or by album. When it gets to a song from an album it won't play, it just skips over the song. Is this a battery issue or a hard drive issue? Anybody know quick fixes or how much it would cost to repair? -thanks

As much as the new battery would help, if you open your iPod casing, then you'll void the warranty on your iPod, making it nearly impossible to get it fixed if you break something inside it, or if the battery isn't the problem.
Oh, and no, the iPod battery won't shorten life if you turn it on and off by the play button. That's an energy conservation tool so you don't need to waste battery waiting for your iPod to turn off by auto-sleep.
I reccomend that you simply take the iPod into Apple. It easier, and you won't void your warranty.

  • Very sick imac won't complete boot (not a HD problem)

My imac (24-inch Early 2008) is not completing the boot process. After the apple appears and then the "working" pinwheel has spun for a while, the pinwheel stops and never recovers, forcing me to do a hard shutdown. Below I'll list what i have tried and what was the result.
-- My first thought was that it was the HD. It's always the HD, you know?  Well, I replaced the hard drive and we're still having the same issue. BTW this means my data is fine. the orig HD is no longer in the imac, and was totally readable by my other machine.
-- I've tried booting from an external HD (not the original drive, hooked via firewire and then by USB), a usb thumb drive (once with a Snow Leopard boot, then once with Lion) and of course the install disk. Displays the same behavior for all .
-- Attempted to boot in safe mode (CMD Shift):
-- --Displays apple screen with the progress bar
-- --fills the bar about 30%
-- --bar disappears and is replaced with spinning gear
              -- --gear freezes, no boot
-- pulled and re-set ram in slots (not original RAM, but replaced w Kingston RAM when I got the machine in early 2008, and there have been no probs until now). Tried switching slots, tried each ram card alone in both slots.
    -- PRAM Reset: CMD + option + P + R
-- SMC Reset: Unplugged for 15 seconds, plug and wait for 5 seconds, press power
-- Unplug for 15 seconds, hold power button while plugging in, release power button, press power to turn on (Some other variation of reset I found out there, don't remember what they said it was for)
Verbose mode, shows it stopping in roughly the same place no matter what I'm trying. The same place being the initialization of the network cards. Even tho' verbose says it logs to /dev/console/ there is nothing in that directory for whichever boot drive I'm using (yes, I looked in hidden files). So, I hand copied the last few lines from my latest attempt:
    yukon: Ethernet address BLAH BLAH
Airport_Brem43xx : Ethernet address BLAH BLAH
IO80211Controller:: dataLinkLayerAttachComplete () adding AppleEFINVRAM notification
Airport: Link Down on en1. Reason 1 (unspecified)
I have had some verbose logs stopping after "yukon: Ethernet address", as well as other lines that all seem to be related to either one of the network cards.
It will go into single user mode, so i imagine the solution has to come from things I can do at that command line.
I've seen some posts listing those lines from error logs, etc., but they all seemed to be issues with slowing and poor performance (which my mac had displayed prior to death). The solutions, if any, don't really apply to me since I can't boot at all.
I've got to get this puppy up and running for the start of school in a week. HELP!
Please don't make me go to genius bar!

P.S.  I should note that the OS is not yet installed on the internal drive. After I replaced the drive, I figured I'd boot off the install disk and install then. Do you think it's worth opening it up again, take out the drive, install OSX from one of my other machines, then reinstall?  It's an imac, so it's a bit involved. But I can't imagine it would be any different than trying to boot from an external, right?

I have one machine (iMac 2006 Late) that had the same problem.  It would not boot from ANY source and all the things I have tried are the same as what you have tried.  Finally, after the computer sat unplugged for a week or so, I ran across the web site linked below.  They had a list of a number of power up key commands.
I do not know if it was conincidental or if it actually cleared the problem but after I did the Command-Shift-K comands twice, I tried my Lion Installer flash drive, which had never been recognized earlier  and lo and behold, it was recognized on an Option Boot.  It then allowed me to actually begin the install from the flash drive.  I won't know till tomorrow if it completed the install but it is more progress than I made in a month of trying before the Command-Shift-K combo.
I had previously scrubbed the hard drive right before the problem started so I do not know if it would have booted from the HD had in not been completely erased.
Give the Command-Shift-K combo a try and let us know if it works or if my machine suddenly for no known reason, decided to rejoin the land of the living.  Like I said I did do that combo twice in a row.  I don't know if it makes a difference but there ain't a heck of a lot to lose if you try it.

  • My iPad (4th gen) is very sick.  No apps will stay open.

I was visiting another house and had to type in their password to conenct to wi-fi.  It wouldn't work so I tried it numerous ways and the owner gave me various passwords. My iPad never did connect to the wi-fi (android system at this house btw)
Now, my iPad won't respond.  Most of the apps will start to open and then it closes right back down to the icon on the home screen.
When I try to connect to wi-fi, it will show me the network of this house, but the window in which to type the password doesn't come up
I've turned my device off and on a number of times
I've pressed the power and home buttons at the same time.
HELP!  What else can I do?

IT is a fairly simple process. The link Jim has is better than the one I was going to suggest.
connect to iTunes on your computer
    do a backup and sync
turn off find my iPad under settings, iCloud if you have it on
    click the restore link
this may take awhile. It usually goes quickly but took about 45 minutes the other day for my phone
    follow the promots as needed
be patient, sometimes it seems like it is frozen but it will continue, that is the hard part for me
you will eventually come to a point where you restore from your backup
after this is all done, hopefully it corrects your problems.
    Good luck
    Keith

  • Can you set the type of alert in iCal on the iPad?

I have an iPad (1st generation) with the latest iOS5. I love the new iOS and especially the way that iCloud makes things more seamless between my devices. I do have an issue with iCal, however. When I set an event in iCal in OSX, I can set the alert to be a message, message with sound, email, etc. By default, if I set an event in iCal on my iPad the alert is a message. I can find no way to change this. If there is a way, please tell me.
Because of this, I never use iCal on iPad to set alerts because I like to use message with sound. This greatly reduces the functionality of iCal on iPad because, for me, it can only be used as a calendar event viewer. Any help would be appreciated. Note: I have contacted apple feedback about this issue.
In a related, but less important issue, I find that the settings for the timing of the alert are very limited in iCal on iPad. On iCal in OSX one can set the alert time for either the time of the event, or pretty much any amount of time prior to the event. On the iPad, iCal will only let you set it to the day of the event, 1 or 2 days before, or 1 week before the event. A limitation, but not crippling. However, if anyone knows how to set the timing of the event on iPad's iCal with more specificity I would really like to know.
    Thanks!

Under Settings, Sounds, you can set an alert sound for calendar events.
For timed events, you can set the alert for a range of times from 5 minutes before upwards (e.g.15 mins, 30 mins, 1 hour). For all-day events, the range is as you described.
You can set the alert for each event as you create it (or edit it later)
You can set default alerts for all-day event,s timed events, and birthdays (i.e. different defaults for each type) in Settings, Mail, Contacts and Calendar, default Alerts.
    Does that help?

  • Is there a way to expand the editing bubble in iCal 3?

I can't figure out how to expand the size of the notes field in the iCal 3.0.3 editing bubble. Is it possible to expand it? You can expand the size of a text area in Safari, but you can't expand the notes field in iCal?!!! Even more frustrating is that when you add more text than can be viewed at once in the notes field, it doesn't scroll to the next line so you can see what you're typing -- you have to scroll manually after each line is entered. What's up with that?!!! I haven't upgraded to 10.5.4 yet -- does that fix any of this?
I'm very, very frustrated with iCal in Leopard. I want the drawer back -- or at least some more reasonable way of editing events.

    Hi Patrick,
I'm working on a 30" monitor, so it's effectively 2560x1600.  It only seems to be showing 2 tracks at a time, unless there is a preference or setting I'm missing that I can't seem to find in the documentation.  Here is a screenshot:
I don't see any areas for expanding the timeline.  I can scroll vertically in the timeline, but I can't seem to actually get a larger static vertical area for showing more tracks at once.  The only vertical resizing widget is to expand the bottom or top panels, not the timeline.
    Thanks,
    Jason

  • Print Current Date on iCal Printed Output

My wife likes to print out her weekly calendar from iCal (which she sync's with her iPhone). It would be very useful if iCal could place "the dated printed" on the output hard copy. This would prevent outdated versions of the calendar from getting confused with the latest version printed. I just have not been able to figure out how to get this accomplished with iCal. I'm probably just overlooking something obvious. Help, please!

Is there a way to set the dock icon to update in Panther.
Not without keeping iCal open all the time.

  • Printing ICAL

I am very new to ical and wanted to print the month for the family to view. The calender printed fine, except in front of every entry there was a time that I didn't enter. How do I get rid of these times? Thanks for any help given by fellow apple users

I have been trying to figure out this for a week. Please let me know if anyone has an answer to this.
The program only puts the start time of an event which is annoying because I need the end time too in the calendar view. I thought I could just manually enter the start and end time in the actual even but it still ical automatically puts the start time of the even even when I try to turn this feature off.

  • How Can I Batch Separate iCal Events Into Separate Calendars?

    iMac G4
    10.4.11
Six months ago I transferred 21,000 calendar items from Chronos Personal Organizer 4.5.0 to iCal. Except for the snail crawl speed, I am very pleased with iCal. CPO operated very quickly with the same 21,000 calendar items. I hope to solve the poor-speed issue by purchasing a new Intel iMac later this year. Fingers crossed.
The transfer process deposited all 21,000 calendar items into a single calendar named "Kurt". Last week I renamed this calendar to "Kurt - Home". I created a new calendar that is named "Kurt - Work". I transferred all of my work specific calendar events from "Kurt - Home" to "Kurt - Work" for the past six months. I accomplished this by clicking on each calendar event, and then clicking on the calendar pulldown menu and selecting "Kurt - Work". Is there a way that I can select multiple calendar events simultaneously, and then transfer them to "Kurt - Work" in one click?
    Thank you.

You need to sign into your iCloud account on your Mac, and check the Calendar option. System Preferences>iCloud, sign on your iCloud account, check the apps you want to sync with your device.
    Cheers,
