Very Slooow

I decided to upgrade to Athlon 64 system. Got the whole system to run. But it is extremely slow - worse than my 4 years old PIII system. It takes too long to boot and start applications, freezes when attempting to play any audio/video files. Even running in barebones configuration with only HD and video card doesn't help.
SiSoft Sandra Standard 2004 scores are very low:
Dhrystone ALU - 61 MIPS
Whetstone FPU/iSSE2 - 75/50 MFLOPS
Integer aeMMX/aSSE - 163 it/s
Floating Point iSSE2 - 546 it/s
RAM Bandwidth Int ALU - 105 MB/s
RAM Bandwidth Float FPU - 104 MB/s
Memtest also shows low bandwidths for L1 and L2 cache:
L1 Cache 128K - 86MB/s
L2 Cache 512K - 47MB/s
Memtest runs without errors but 1 pass takes 1 hour 47 minutes (as opposed to 10-15 minutes).
So far I tried using different RAM (KingMax PC3500, Samsung PC3200, Kingston PC3200), different power supplies, different heatsinks (AMD retail and Thermaltake Venus 12), different video cards, different hard drives and different OSs (fresh installations of Win2k SP4 and XP SP1, no viruses).
I don't have a problem with over heating (Tcpu Idle=35C, Loaded=40C). Bus speed is 2000MHz (read by both Core Center and CPU-Z). Cool'N'Quiet is disabled. BIOS is in Fast mode (not Turbo).
It doesn't seem to be a problem with RAM sticks. PC3200 version of KingMax is in recommended memory list and I've seen a couple of people on the forum use PC3500. I tried running on Auto and manual timings (tight and conservative), limiting to 333MHz. The system does POST and run. It's just too slow.
I've noticed that both BIOS and Core Center show voltages that are lower than selected in BIOS. For example, at selected Vcore=+5.125V I get only +1.488V. Also, +12v shows only +11.76. I suspect that I have a power leak somewhere (not to the case). Does anybody have an idea if the problem could be with the motherboard or with CPU? It's too late to RMA them and I don't want to waste money buying them blindly.
Thanks.

You could try resetting the Cmos to clear the system. remove RAM when you do.
I had to reset it at least 5 times before but it didn't help. I tried following your advice to remove RAM while resetting, Jocko. It works at normal speed now and benchmark scores look good. Thanks a lot.
But the voltage readings are still strange. My PSU is fine. I tried to use another one, not as good, but got the same readings. Here are the numbers:
Vcore (on Auto): Core Center, BIOS - +1.456, +1.472V (fluctuating between these two numbers), SiSoft Sandra 2004 - +1.47V
+12V: Core Center - +11.76V, BIOS - +11.923V, SiSoft Sandra 2004 - +11.92V
It seems like Core Center has a problem reading +12V correctly.
My regards.

I was using Google Chrome, but it seems they do not support Silverlight which Sky Go use. I was told that Firefox would work. It doesn't. The only one that works is Internet Explorer 11, which is very slooow. Why can't I use Firefox to view Sky Go?

My Sky homepage. If I want to watch cricket say, it come up with ' sky go unavailable at this present moment'. If I log on to my IE 11, sky go works Ok. I have the Silverlight add-on or plug-in whatever you call it.

  • Installation, speed & jar on another computer

    Hi,
We have a Java app and tried many different installation mode.
In one of them (on a windows network)
we have the application on a server.
and all clients have just a shortcut with a network path like
    \\theserver\theappdir\theApp.jar
strangely when run from the server the application is very slooow...
does anyone have any ideas ?...
    (But locally it run quickly)

    not really.
    I though to this first.
but when I came back to the same screen, the class have already been loaded and it should be faster, wheras it was not...

  • Slow disc writing

I have a very slooow mac mini.
I have upgraded the memory to 5gb - so it's not that.
I used Xbench to get the following figures for the Disk Access
    Disk Test 30.51
    Sequential 61.93
    Uncached Write 63.62 39.06 MB/sec [4K blocks]
    Uncached Write 75.30 42.60 MB/sec [256K blocks]
    Uncached Read 46.09 13.49 MB/sec [4K blocks]
    Uncached Read 71.99 36.18 MB/sec [256K blocks]
    Random 20.24
    Uncached Write 6.85 0.72 MB/sec [4K blocks]
    Uncached Write 48.19 15.43 MB/sec [256K blocks]
    Uncached Read 50.58 0.36 MB/sec [4K blocks]
    Uncached Read 90.78 16.85 MB/sec [256K blocks]
The random Uncached Write (4th line from the end) shows 6.58 - much slower than other measurements.
As a comparison, my Mac Pro with an SSD has a figure of 973 (yes, one hundred times faster) and the regular hard drive has a reading of 11.
    Is my disk the problem?
    Any views?
(And yes, I will probably spend the £171 to upgrade to an SSD for the Mac Mini!)

The mini's memory slots are meant to operate in dual channel mode, and there are often performance issues when mismatched sticks are inserted. You've got two very mismatched sticks, and it would be better to run 2x2gb sticks. Also, firmware updates are not often suggested by Software Update unless they solve a significant problem with a particular model. This has not been the case for the mini. Its likely your mini has not had the update then, and that your system can not properly address more than 4gb of memory.

  • IPhoto v slooow

    Hi,
I went to about 50 pages of this forum and I found some partial answers to my questions.
    First my set up:
Mac mini C2, 1.83 Gz, 2Gb Ram, 160 Gb HDD (about 100Gb free), 1Tb FW external. I am setting this up for a HTPC.
I got all my movies and music set, and now I am working on my photos.
Currently, I have about 2000 photos (less than 4Gb) on the iPhoto library and they all sit on the internal HDD. I am planning to add at least about the same number, and I plan to add more in the future.
Q1. Can I sync the iPhoto libraries on 2 macs? If not, what would be the easiest way to update my iPhoto lib for the mac in the living room will the new pictures that I process on my mac in the office. I really do not want to sit down on the floor in the living room and play with the new photos every month. I'd rather sync the libraries.
Q2. Originals in the iPhoto folder... do I need them? I do not want to have a bunch of duplicate photos if it is not necessary.
    Q3. iPhoto is realllly slooow.
After I loaded the last 2 albums last night, iPhoto became very slow, and pictures are almos overlapping in the slide show mode. It does the same in Front Row
Q4. Would you advise to keep the photos on an external HDD? at the rate I am addig pictures to my system it will be 10 years before I get even close to put a dent in my internal HDD free space.
Q5. Can you tweek the slide show length to match the length of the music you select for your slide show (i.e., if you have a 20 picture album and a 4 minute song, can you set up the length of the slideshow to 4 minutes)
    Thank you,
    Adrian

    geologista:
Welcome to the Apple Discussions. Regarding Question 3. What you do not want to do is use a syncing application to try to sync the two libraries. That will kill both of them. One very effective way to keep the two libraries the same is to use iPhoto Library Manager. If you keep the new photos in their original rolls that are easy to identify you can use the paid version to copy rolls from one library to the other as shown here. You will also retain your keywords and comments for those photos.
Also are you keeping all of the rolls open all the time? That definitely will slow down iPhoto as all thumbnails have to be read and rendered. It's best to only have those rolls you need open and then close all of them (Option close one roll will close all open rolls) before closing. That will let iPhoto open much quicker.
    Do you Twango?
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've written an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

  • Acrobat XI very sluggish on Yoga 3 Pro

I have noticed that Adobe Acrobat XI is very sluggish on the Yoga 3 Pro. Specifically laggy when zooming in and out, panning, scrolling, and full screen. This is especially apparent with full screen and quite annoying in tablet mode. However, using the Microsoft Reader app with the same PDF files does NOT experience this lag.
What I then discovered is that this has something to do with the Core M processor and it getting its power limited. If you change the power plan in OneKey Optimizer to High Performance (from Balanced, for example), Acrobat all of a sudden becomes quite snappy.
When in tablet mode, if you simply want to read a PDF file (and use Acrobat), you do not need "high performance", so to extend the unfortunately bad battery life of the Yoga 3 Pro, you would want to put it in Balanced or Power Saver -- this should still be sufficient to read PDF files, but it is not the case with Acrobat XI unfortunately.
I'm not sure which specific CPU limiting feature of the power plan is causing this issue in Acrobat, but I thought I would post this because I couldn't find anything on the internet on this issue.

  • Help with getting values from request. Very Strange!!

    Hello,
My very strange problem is the following.
I have created three dynamic list boxes. When the user select
the first list box, the second becomes populated with stuff
from a database. The third becomes populated when the second
is selected. Now, I have used hidden values in order for
me to get the selected value from the first listbox. The
following code is my first listbox:
    <SELECT NAME="resources" onChange="document.hiddenform.hiddenObject.value = this.option [this.selectedIndex].value; document.hiddenform.submit();">
    <OPTION VALUE =""> Resource</OPTION>
    <OPTION VALUE ="soil"> Soil </OPTION>
    <OPTION VALUE ="water"> Water </OPTION>
    <OPTION VALUE ="air"> Air </OPTION>
    <OPTION VALUE ="plants"> Plants </OPTION>
    <OPTION VALUE ="animals"> Animals </OPTION>
    </SELECT>
I use the getRequest method to get the value of hiddenObject.
At this time I am able to get the value of hiddenObject to populate
    the second list box.
But, when the user selects an item from the second list box
and the second form is also submitted,
I lose the value of hiddenObject. Why is this??
The code to populate my second listbox is the following:
    <SELECT NAME ="res_categories" onChange="document.hiddenform2.hiddenObject2.value = this.options[this.selectedIndex].value; document.hiddenform2.submit(); ">
    <OPTION VALUE ="" SELECTED> Category</OPTION>
Here I access a result set to populate the list box.
    Please help!!

Form parameters are request-scoped, hence the request.getParameter("hiddenObject"); call after the submission of the second form returns a null value because the hiddenObject parameter does not exist within the second request.
A solution would be to add a hiddenObject field to your second form and alter the onChange event for res_categories to read
    document.hiddenform2.hiddenObject.value=document.1stvisibleformname.resources.option[document.1stvisibleformname.resources.selectedIndex].value;
    document.hiddenform2.hiddenObject2.value = this.options[this.selectedIndex].value;
document.hiddenform2.submit();You will then come across a similar problem with your third drop-down if indeed you need to resubmit the form...
A far better approach would be to create a session scoped bean, and a servlet to handle these requests. Then when the servlet is called, it would set the value of the bean property, thus making it available for this request, and all subsequent requests within the current session. This approach would eliminate the need for the clunky javascript, making your application far more stable.

  • New Airport Extreme802.11n &Very Odd Network&Computer Issues

    Hi,
We Replaced a D-Link DGL4300 802.11G and a Airport Express M9470LL/A with the most current Airport Extreme Base Station 802.11N 2.4Ghz and 5.0Ghz Dual Band and a Airport Express 802.11N (to use with a Shared USB HP1022 Laser Jet Printer. I have contacted Apple Tech Support once regarding setup and mentioned this other ? strange issue(s)
We have broadband cable that goes to a Motorola SB5101(meets ISP specs) then Ethernet cable
from Cable Modem to Wan Port on Airport Extreme. We have multiple computers all with wireless capability 1) Imac 800mhz 874 mb ram 802.11bAirport Card 2) eMac 1.0 Ghz 1gb ram Airport Extreme 802.11bWireless Card
    3) eMac 1.25 Ghz 1.0gb ram and a Airport Extreme 802.11bWireless Card* all running OSX Panther 10.3.9 *and each with 802.11B wireless cards 4) Macbook Pro bought Dec 2009 running Snow Leopard 4gb ram and 250gb HDand 802.11n wireless card 5) HP Tower xw4550 running Win XP Pro SP3 4gb ram 500GB HD and a 802.11G wireless card 6) Dell Mini Net Book running Win XP Home SP3 1ghz 1gb ram 150 GB HD and a
    802.11n wireless card.
At first tried setting up the Airport Extreme with the Dell Mini as it met specs and (as of Yesterday) the Mac Book Pro is with one of our children at college but was able to set up setting up the Airport Utility and Hardware for both Peripheral Devices with the Mac Book Pro.
Then things got odd. All the computers were online (as well as two wireless "Live" capable gaming systems XBox360 and Sony PS3 , I did not check my eMac until the next day
and when I woke it from sleep (or started it) I got "You need to restart your computer"
? Kernel Panic , I ran Disk Utility, Tech Tool Deluxe, Apple Hardware Test and even Applejack. no change and while permissions were repaired Tech Tool Deluxe and The Apple Hardware Test showed no faults with anything, Tried PRAM. restart etc, then we had the other eMac 1.0ghz which has been unused since the Mac Book Pro arrived as a gift, Plugged it in , started it up, and got online, no black screen, even checked and responded to email, then restarted the (2nd eMac 1.0ghz) and the "You need to restart your computer screen came up!) once seems oh maybe, possibly its crashed, or dying out
but two side by side, No Way! , so we then isolated electrical outlets, to the extent with a 100 foot extension cord outside on our back breezeway, same thing. We even went and bought a new battery and tried it in both , no change, * Was able to shut off the airport card in safe mode, restarted and it functioned as a normal computer with airport extreme card off
*same with the 1.0ghz emac airport card off and restart and functions as a computer but no online access. We then moved one close to the Airport Extreme and hooked up by ethernet and changed the settings and Bingo no Kernel Panic Like screen and can get online, tried the other same thing! So currently the two eMacs sit side by side and we bought a long ethernet cord and it works on the table where it originally was,
I did mention this to the Apple Technician that called from Apple regarding a setup issue (as have 90 days telephone support) and he said *That there have been reports of where there are with a Guest Network (we had one set up and He had us remove it as He asked if we really needed it and I said no AND also with networks with computers with wireless cards 802.11b
and 802.11g computers on a network with the802.11n computers and a 802.11n Airport Extreme, he could not explain it any further, he suggested a possible 3rd party software incompatibilty : recent download (but have not done any on the 1.25ghz eMac and the 1.0ghz has been shut
off since Dec 2009. I am baffled , my Wife and I were seriously considering buying a new Imac to replace the 1.25ghz after the Black screen showed up, but when the other one did the same, and did the trouble shooting and then the ethernet connect we saved ourselves a lot of money (t would be nice to have a new Imac but $$ is not there)
and in the past week now (could be our ISP) our Internet connection has dropped off 4 times usually for 30-45 minutes but Friday 8-20-10 it was over 3 hours (yet our Cable TV came in) I will contact our ISP who handles both the broadband about the outages
and our cable TV has been fuzzy -grainy at times, I called Them Friday and their were no outages in our area (system wide) Now though (except with Win XP) that is our access to the Airport Extreme and Utility (it blinks orange off and on when the internet is down) the Airport Express has stayed green each time. I will contact Apple also as ?
is it the Airport Extreme (but its intermittent) channels are set to automatically if thats helpful data rather than set to a specific channel, its fairly rural where we live
I thought of buying Tiger but saw the extreme prices and I called Apple per a recent Apple Thread they did not have Tiger Retail(nor did I expect then to) but after discussing
the Emacs they said why pay so much for Tiger (and a lot are used) they said and went over both eMacs specs and I checked in detail online and called them back as it was in a "card hold" and bought Leopard 10.5.6 (as min of 512 ram, DVD drive (have a combo -drive) and a Power PCG4 which both are and I am now getting unused (non System) data off the eMac and backing it up as well and its job will be to be able to access the Airport Utility (Apple OSX Leopard 10.5.6 was $129.00 plus tax free shipping and it arrived yesterday so if settings need changed can do that (with Win XP the Airport Utility
was so different and after about 4 hours and no progress I stopped and switched to he Laptop the next day!
Has anyone experienced anything like this, I read up on both peripherals before buying and called as well to the Apple Online Store to make sure we could 1) set it up and 2) all computers specs were met to be able to a)use the network for online use and b)as well as shared printing from any and all computers and they do meet the specifications
    * one last item , my Wife's Imac is also on via Ethernet, It asked for a WEP password and that was not a option in the Airport Utility set up ,only WPA-WPA2 Personal password-Security configuration
so She is not on wirelessly (though I know She has been as in the past, Her Imac was on a desk in the foyer ) That may have been with the 802.11b Apple Airport white dome and not the D-Link 802.11G router of which we had a lot of configuration issues
*I could be wrong and will read up on her specs via the Mac Tracker application or online
Many Thanks, Its so odd I did not want to leave out data etc but its a *long post and I apologize for that, I hope some one can send some light on this. On a positive avoided buying a new computer!
but makes no sense (at least to us)!

I configured the new AirPort Extreme Base Station N last week using the MacBook Pro and the PowerBook can no longer operate with AirPort on (Restart Computer message). A rep at the Genius Bar indicated that WPA2 encryption might interfere with the G4?? He recommended setting up WEP encryption, this is no longer an option using the AirPort setup assistant.
It would be very helpful to know how this original post was resolved. The G4 SHOULD be able to work with the AirPort Extreme 802.11n in theory, right??

  • I cannot receive email properly now. When I open mail, it says that is downloading about 1,700 emails. At the very end, it gives me my newest ones. But this takes a long time. I've contacted the Internet service provider and verified all the right setting

I cannot receive email properly on either my IPad or my IPhone. I have had them for over a year and they have always worked fine. Until three days ago, when they both started acting up. On the IPad, when I open mail, it says it is downloading about 1,700 emails. At the very end, which takes quite a while to get to, I finally get the most recent ones. The IPad is sending emails just fine.
On my IPhone, when I open mail, it says it is downloading 100 emails, but it doesn't do that. And it gives me no new emails at all. The IPhone is sending email just fine.
I have already deleted the email accounts on both devices and reinstalled them. I've contacted the Internet service provider and verified all the right settings. The Outlook email on my desktop is working perfectly.

WMV is a heavily-compressed format/CODEC, and the processing time will depend on several factors:
Your CPU, which is not that powerful in your case
Your I/O sub-system, which is likely a single HDD on your laptop
The source footage. What is your source footage?
Any Effects added to that footage. Do you have any Effects?
Each of those will have an impact on the time required.
The trial has only one main limitation - the watermark. Now, there are some components, that have to be activated, but are not with the trial, but they would be evident with Import of your source footage, if it's an issue.

    Hi all,
I have a table with 25 million rows. I create a report on this table in which i need to use the following expression
    ifnull(abc_accr_int_val,0)+ifnull(xyz_mar_val_lcy,0)
and this experession is group by asset description but the report output time is very high.Further there is no index on these columns in the database.
Please guide me that did my approach is right ??? if no what is the right approach

    Hi,
Thanks for such a beautiful and informative answers I really appriciated it.
I catch the problem and now want to share with U. As u know my prompt is on Date Column but I dont want to show this coloumn in my report.I only want that a user give a date and two columns are shown in report 1) asset_desc 2) total sum (which is sum of 2 columns as i discussed in this thread).
Now before...after creating the prompt on Date field I edit the report view and delete this coloumn (Date) because I only want above 2 colomns and not Date column in my report. But all sorting is performed on date bec it is in prompt (where clause). When I add Date column in my report (to show date col) the speed of the report is like sql and data fetching speed same like sql. Now tell me is there any way that I delete this col from my report but it exist in answer criteria table ??????
I have 19 Asset Desc which return by sql and answers request.

Was brought up on a PC. I would imagine my system is in  mess. I think i downloaded that Mackeeper which i have just discovered was not a good idea. I found a thread about EtreCheck and it suggested i posted the report of my machine which i have done.I only have 2GB of space. Not sure how much i have left. My wife keeps putting photos on here like they are going out of fashion. Bought the machine in 2008 because everybody said you have a MAC. I've never really got to grips with it but at least it worked. Now it does not run very well at all. That spinning wheel is driving me mad. 1. This procedure is a diagnostic test. It changes nothing, for better or worse, and therefore will not, in itself, solve the problem. But with the aid of the test results, the solution may take a few minutes, instead of hours or days.
Don't be put off merely by the seeming complexity of these instructions. The process is much less complicated than the description. You do harder tasks with the computer all the time.
    2. If you don't already have a current backup, back up all data before doing anything else. The backup is necessary on general principle, not because of anything in the test procedure. Backup is always a must, and when you're having any kind of trouble with the computer, you may be at higher than usual risk of losing data, whether you follow these instructions or not.
There are ways to back up a computer that isn't fully functional. Ask if you need guidance.
    3. Below are instructions to run a UNIX shell script, a type of program. As I wrote above, it changes nothing. It doesn't send or receive any data on the network. All it does is to generate a human-readable report on the state of the computer. That report goes nowhere unless you choose to share it. If you prefer, you can read it yourself without disclosing the contents to me or anyone else.
You should be wondering whether you can believe me, and whether it's safe to run a program at the behest of a stranger. In general, no, it's not safe and I don't encourage it.
In this case, however, there are a couple of ways for you to decide whether the program is safe without having to trust me. First, you can read it. Unlike an application that you download and click to run, it's transparent, so anyone with the necessary skill can verify what it does.
You may not be able to understand the script yourself. But variations of the script have been posted on this website thousands of times over a period of years. The site is hosted by Apple, which does not allow it to be used to distribute harmful software. Any one of the millions of registered users could have read the script and raised the alarm if it was harmful. Then I would not be here now and you would not be reading this message.
Nevertheless, if you can't satisfy yourself that these instructions are safe, don't follow them. Ask for other options.
    4. Here's a summary of what you need to do, if you choose to proceed:
☞ Copy a line of text in this window to the Clipboard.
☞ Paste into the window of another application.
☞ Wait for the test to run. It usually takes a few minutes.
☞ Paste the results, which will have been copied automatically, back into a reply on this page.
The sequence is: copy, paste, wait, paste again. You don't need to copy a second time. Details follow.
    5. You may have started the computer in "safe" mode. Preferably, these steps should be taken in “normal” mode, under the conditions in which the problem is reproduced. If the system is now in safe mode and works well enough in normal mode to run the test, restart as usual. If you can only test in safe mode, do that.
    6. If you have more than one user, and the one affected by the problem is not an administrator, then please run the test twice: once while logged in as the affected user, and once as an administrator. The results may be different. The user that is created automatically on a new computer when you start it for the first time is an administrator. If you can't log in as an administrator, test as the affected user. Most personal Macs have only one user, and in that case this section doesn’t apply. Don't log in as root.
    7. The script is a single long line, all of which must be selected. You can accomplish this easily by triple-clicking anywhere in the line. The whole line will highlight, though you may not see all of it in the browser window, and you can then copy it. If you try to select the line by dragging across the part you can see, you won't get all of it.
Triple-click anywhere in the line of text below on this page to select it:

Copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C.
    8. Launch the built-in Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
Click anywhere in the Terminal window and paste by pressing command-V. The text you pasted should vanish immediately. If it doesn't, press the return key.
    9. If you see an error message in the Terminal window such as "Syntax error" or "Event not found," enter
    exec bash
and press return. Then paste the script again.
    10. If you're logged in as an administrator, you'll be prompted for your login password. Nothing will be displayed when you type it. You will not see the usual dots in place of typed characters. Make sure caps lock is off. Type carefully and then press return. You may get a one-time warning to be careful. If you make three failed attempts to enter the password, the test will run anyway, but it will produce less information. In most cases, the difference is not important. If you don't know the password, or if you prefer not to enter it, press the key combination control-C or just press return  three times at the password prompt. Again, the script will still run.
If you're not logged in as an administrator, you won't be prompted for a password. The test will still run. It just won't do anything that requires administrator privileges.
    11. The test may take a few minutes to run, depending on how many files you have and the speed of the computer. A computer that's abnormally slow may take longer to run the test. While it's running, there will be nothing in the Terminal window and no indication of progress. Wait for the line
    [Process completed]
to appear. If you don't see it within half an hour or so, the test probably won't complete in a reasonable time. In that case, close the Terminal window and report what happened. No harm will be done.
    12. When the test is complete, quit Terminal. The results will have been copied to the Clipboard automatically. They are not shown in the Terminal window. Please don't copy anything from there. All you have to do is start a reply to this comment and then paste by pressing command-V again.
At the top of the results, there will be a line that begins with the words "Start time." If you don't see that, but instead see a mass of gibberish, you didn't wait for the "Process completed" message to appear in the Terminal window. Please wait for it and try again.
If any private information, such as your name or email address, appears in the results, anonymize it before posting. Usually that won't be necessary.
    13. When you post the results, you might see an error message on the web page: "You have included content in your post that is not permitted," or "You are not authorized to post." That's a bug in the forum software. Please post the test results on Pastebin, then post a link here to the page you created.
    14. This is a public forum, and others may give you advice based on the results of the test. They speak only for themselves, and I don't necessarily agree with them.

    Where are iTunes files located?
No, I do not mean just the music.  Copying just the media/music files or the media folder creates problems.
