VFP application in Citrix server

Hi,
I have a vfp application and it is using Microsoft Outlook to send emails. If we access the application via Citrix server, which Outlook application is it using? i.e. Outlook installed in the Citrix server or Outlook installed in the clients computer?
As I know it should use Outlook installed in Citrix server. Please confirm this. Thanks.

The best bet is to make a small test exe with just that CREATEOBJECT() call and see what is instanciated. Setup a client without outlook and run it on citrix server with outlook and you'll see.

Citrix Server works just like any other virtual or real machine you connect to via remote desktop.
The apps running there will OLE automate the ole servers there, so eg Outlook has to be installed in that virtual windows alongside your vfp app and vfp will use that server side outlook.
Your program does not automate the client, it's only visualized on it via a citrix client side software used to connect to citrix server and display it.
There is a slight chance such virtualisation software enhances and incorporates more from the client, eg one technology having spread among virtualisation solutions is seamless integration of the remote application windows, so it seems like the remote apps
run local. The display is accelerated in not sending the graphics to clients but GDI+ or DirectX 2D commands, which can be executed by client graphics hardware.
And it is just a small step to forward any ole server instanciateions like CREATEOBJECT("Outlook.Application") to be executed at the client.
So finally as first said, make a small test EXE and you know for sure what happens.

My acrobat plugin application crashes in Citrix server

Hi,
The old version of my plugin application was able to run on acrobat installed in citrix server.In the old version, resource file was present in the plugin project folder itself.
In the new version of my plugin application,I maintained separate project folder containing resource files and created the dll for that,which gets loaded in my plugin project.This is the only difference between my old and new version.
In Citrix server, I am able to install the application in the acrobat,after installation if I click on acrobat.I get run time error saying-
Run time error!!
Program: <acrobat installation path>
abnormal program termination!!
I developed the plugin using acrobat sdk7.
What has might the problem or went wrong so that application crashes on server?
please help,as i have no idea on citrix servers.newto this environment.

Remote desktop and citrix server

On my corporate network, which is Windows based, we are able to hit our Citrix server from inside the firewall using the Windows remote desktop program. How do I do the same with my Mac, when I am on the network inside our firewall? I can reach the server with no problems from outside the firewall.

What application are you using to try and connect? I would guess that you're using the Citrix app or Microsoft's Remote Desktop Connection Client for Mac, neither of which will be most likely to get assistance with in this forum which is for Apple's own software for managing networked Macs. If you'll tell us what software you're using to try and connect, we can probably direct you to the place where you'll be most likely to get quick and accurate suggestions.

Performing E2ETrace Analysis unuseable in Citrix-Server-Environment?

Hallo,
Since SAP CLient Plug-In 1.11 for E2E Trace Analysis, we get the error "ERROR: Found running application instance(s): please close the open application instance" if IE8 sessions are startet before launching the plugin.
so, executing the E2E -Trace analysis on CITRIX-Server with the Plugin seems to be unusable, because a lot of user might logged into CITRIX Server and performing IE8-Sessions?
are there any suggestions?

yes, i read this note and i used the latest plugin attached to this note.
They wrote: "Terminal services environments such as WTS and Citrix are not explicitly tested".
You have to stop existing IE-Sessions. also in Citrix-environment.
so you can not use it in Citrix Environment where a lot of user are performing IE-Sessions.

Using Crystal Reports on a Citrix server

I have a 2003 .net windows application that internal crystal reports built in using Crystal 11 SP2. On a basic client the merge modules and the reports run fine without incident.
This does not work on a Citrix server. I get a report load error.
Does the CR 11 Runtime need to be installed on the Citrix server?
Is there some special procedures or applications I need to install?
I don't believe I should have to install a server license for this to work or be licensed.
Anyone have experience with CR11 in a windows application running on a Citrix server?

There is no supported method of using Crystal Reports without deploying the appropriate runtime files. Since Crystal Reports is not fully managed by the .NET framework this additional step is required.

Unable to edit or run XL Reports on Citrix Server

Our client has a number of XL Reports which they wish users to be able to access from a Citrix Server.
The XL Reports are working for users when run locally but not via the Citrix Server.
The error we are receiving is:
'An error occurred during the process "Report Initialize", Description: (666) Error! Unable to get document! Type: 22
Cause: Automation Error
XL Reporter startup failed!'
We have investigated and applied the fix from Note: 918188 which appears to be a direct hit on this issue but the reports are still failing.
Has anyone else come accross this and resolved it?

Loginin to citrix server with safari

I am having trouble with the loging onto citrix xp server with safari and have down loaded the latest version citrix macintel client . I can login to my work site but can't use any of the application as i get a error archive required to make an ssl connection not available please contact your metaframe administrator.
is anyone having trouble with loging on with citrix with safari.

Also:
If you are connecting with Safari, the Citrix server MUST have its configuration changed to allow SSL connections via the Java client (since Safari uses the Java client starting somewhere around 10.3.7). See this link for instructions on how to enable SSL over Java on the server.
Either way, there's nothing you can do on your end other than to ditch Safari and use FireFox. Your Citrix/IT admins need to do the work

CSA on a Citrix server

I would like to hear from any that is successfully running CSA 4.5.1 on their citrix server.
Every citrix server I have installed this on ends up with a huge performance problem. And the load on these servers is actually fairly light - only about 20 users.

Richard, any luck with this? I have CSA 5.1 on Citrix, and we have had some real perf problems. The CPU appears to get super busy, so much so that even keyboard and mouse events are ignored (but without blue screen). Heavily loaded Citrix servers at about 40-50 users using all sorts of applications (but no engineering apps or crazy stuff).
After TAC suggested removing csauser.dll from reg key AppInit_DLLs we are now removing all groups except one to carry UI policy and test mode, etc. We will measure our relative success with this after a week's time. Total number of rules now == 40-50.
Avg CPU util on these servers pre-CSA was 25-50% with spikes going much higher. To me this reflects the classic CPU spinlock problem. But what is at fault here? CSA, Citrix, or something else? These are HPQ DL360 and DL380 servers. It ocurred to me that it could be mgmt software.
About 2 yrs ago there was a *major* problem between CSA and Dell mgmt software. Both products installed separate versions of MSVC70.DLL or something similar, but into separate directories. Once CSA rewrote the reg key to point to _its_ version of the file, the servers would blue screen. Boy was that awesome, let me tell you. To be fair, I don't this think this exhibits the same symptoms.

Sunray conneting to Citrix Server

We are currently looking at implementing Sunrays across our entire hospital, I'm not very familar with how they work but I have a general idea. The vendor we are working with is suggesting that we use plain Windows Terminal servers instead of Citrix, as they say the logins will be slower with Citrix. Is this true? If so why is it slower. The sunray clients would be used just to connect to a terminal or citrix server of which all the apps would run off of, we need to be able to easiely and quickly move from device to device, so if Citrix logins are really going to be slower than straight terminal server logins that might be a problem, but I would like some information to back this up. Also does the Sunray solution have a password managment/single sign on capability? So once I login to the system, I no longer have to log into all my individual applications?

Citrix corp. provides ICA clients for Solaris X86 & SPARC both as a native program and you can also use the Citrix JAVA ICA client,
if you wnat to start the ICA connection with a Java Webstart launcher from a Portal Server.
The JAVA ICA client is architecture independent and it makes it possible to launch all ICA session from the Portal server rather than
updating many PC's and server with architecture dependant binaries.
These binaries are available from Citrix download site Not from Sun.
As a Citrix server also serves RDP connections its possible to talk to the Citrix Farm with RDP using the Sun ray Windows Connector ( uttsc )
The Citrix ICA Client has an option to cache the User credentials in the users home directory .
The Sun ray Windows Connector ( uttsc ) also has a small addon program that can cache the users credentials.
this is not the same as Single_sign_on , but a way to fake it - if you can trust the security of the homedirectory.
Single sign on between UNIX/LINUX on one side and MS Windows Active directory is an evolving field at this point in time.
It is possible to set up Kerberos across domain authenitication between AD and a unix Kerberos installation, but its not simple,
and you wont find commersial support for the solution. Its a very consultant friendly/dependent solution at this point in time.

File Not Found error in Citrix Server

I have a client who is running an application through Citrix that uses Crystal Reports, and the application is erroring out when trying to load a report, ONLY when the user does not have anything mapped as their C:\ drive.
The default setup at this client was to have a P: drive as the main drive, and a Q: data drive for the users when they log into the Citrix box.
When the users were tried to launch the application with this setup, they got the following error:

If we have a drive mapped to C:\ for the user, the issue goes away. I've looked through the Crystal Reports engine code, and with an embedded report in a .NET application (as is the case here) Crystal Reports writes the embedded report out to the temp directory before reading it back in again. The failure seems to be either with reading or writing that temporary file.
Anyone run into this before, or seen a solution?

You do not say which version of Crystal Reports you are using, so the registry key may be different for whichever version you have.

I want to remove the COnlineBank, OnlineBank and csample applications from my application and web server.

How can I safely do this on Solaris? I've tried "iasdeploy removeapp" and "iasdeploy removemodule" with no luck. I want to clear all of this demo stuff out to make both the web and app server look more production like.

these applications are applogics which are not controlled by the
iasdeploy tool. Unfortunately, there is no tool available to remove
these applications for you. What you can do is to manually remove all
their entries, but be careful if you do that. If you remove the wrong
keys you might break your ias installation, so be warned and make sure
you backup the whole ias registry before attempting to remove anything.

What Inderjeet meant was that if you chose to install SharePoint as a single server instead of a complete farm, you won't be able to add servers to the farm at a later time. You can check if this is the case by checking the registry key he mentioned. If
that is indeed the case, there's nothing to it but reinstall the farm.
So that is why you never should choose the single server option, it locks you in and limits future options, while choosing to install sharepoint as a complete farm it's still perfectly acceptable to host it on a single server.

I'm getting the below error in My SHarepoint 2013 search Administration page.
Crawler background activity - The search application 'Search Service Application 1' on server "" is not provisioned. Confirm that the Microsoft SharePoint Foundation Timer service and Central Administration service are running

and when i click on Crawl Log and content source
it throws the below error

When i check the search status
Get-SPEnterpriseSearchServiceInstance, it shows all the components are online.
As of now search service application is online and search is working.But not sure why it throws the above error.
I have restarted timer service,search service in services.msc and cleared the sharepoint cache as well.
But no luck,This is happening in my prodcution environment.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

1. Central Administration > Monitoring > Review job definitions > Look for following timer job "Application Server Administration Service Timer Job" > Disable
2. Then open windows administrative services (services.msc), stop SharePoint Timer Service
3. Clear SharePoint Timer configuration cache by following steps mentioned in below blog:

4. Start SharePoint Timer Service and give it a few seconds so that the new XML files from the location you deleted then are re-populated.

There is no guideline I know of as this depends on the app itself.
What you should do is to deploy the application onto a test server and check the metrics of the app over a defined period of time with a defined amount of traffic.

Deploying adf application to WebLogic Server Version: 10.3.6.0

hi i have develope application in adf using jdeveloper 11.1.1.6.0 i have deploy the application to weblogic 10.3.6.0
this is what i have done
1. i have created a new Managed server in my weblogic=under Environment->Servers
2.the state of my new server is shutdown
3.deployment method
-in my jdeveloper i click application->Application properties->Deployment->new->Archive Type->EAR FILE->applicationName->OK
TO deploy from jdeveloper to weblogic server
in my jdeveloper i click application APPLICATION->Deploy->applicationName->Deploy to Application Server-applicationserver i choose the new server i created in my weblogic->weblogic Option->deploy to selected instance->i select the name of the server i created in my weblogic->next->finish
after that the deployment configuration screen pop up than i click deploy then screen MDS CONFIGURATION invalid pop up with message MDS CONFIGURATION information appear invalid metadata Repository not found in target server.deploy anyway then i click yes

the listern port of my new created server is 8003
my problem is am not able to test the application i have deploy
