Vgaswitcheroo, /sys/kernel/debug/vgaswitcheroo is missing

Hi all,
I'm having troubles disabling my discrete graphics card (an ATI Radeon). I already tried this guide, but after completing all the steps (including mounting the debugfs) /sys/kernel/debug/vgaswitcheroo still doesn't appear.
/proc/config.gz does have CONFIG_VGA_SWITCHEROO=y
The list of things I did to help this:
Downgrading the xf86-video-ati driver
Downgrading the linux kernel (I actually have two of them, 3.0.30-2-lts and 3.0.34-1-lts)
Trying different modeset values for radeon
Enabling both i915 and radeon in KMS
Playing with BIOS settings, however there was no option to completely disable the discrete graphics card
How can I turn that discrete graphics off? It runs quite hot and consumes lots of power.
Oh, and, this isn't a laptop computer. Currently the VGA cable is plugged into the motherboard, which has Intel HD graphics.

I think the solution in this post can help you...

  • Kernel debugging using git bisection method in combination with abs.

Is there any way to use git bisection method for kernel debugging in combination with ABS for building the kernel via makepkg?

Yes, but ABS for kernel uses some patches in order for the kernel to be successfully build.

I wanted to know is if there is any way to distinguish what particular patch to use in every bisection point.

  • Problem with the file /proc/sys/kernel/hotplug which is incorrect

    Hello,
Since few days, I can't import photos from my camera with my user (that work in root), I open a thread in this forum (http://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?pid=348659).
After investigations, the problem come from the content of the file /proc/sys/kernel/hotplug which is just :
    -e
When I run the start_udev script, the content of /proc/sys/kernel/hotplug change and importing photos with my user work again.
I isolate the only important line for my problem :
    echo -e '\000\000\000\000' > /proc/sys/kernel/hotplug
When I run this line after a boot, the import file from camera work.
I think that the content of the file is bas setted while the udev starting or replaced by another event which occurs later !
I use the x86 version up-to-date with kdemod.
Someone have an idea of why the content of /proc/sys/kernel/hotplug (it must contain an executable for kernel call on hotplugging) is bad ?

I think I've found the problem, see my comment in http://bugs.archlinux.org/task/9935. Thanks for the information about /proc/sys/kernel/hotplug!

This is what I don't understand. A get info on the drive show this:

Any idea what this is refering to?

What is the frequency of that message in your syslog?
Nine times in the past 24 hours. But oddly enough, I'm now seeing debug in other messages as well as well:

    kernel Debug System Wake
I recently installed TTP 4.6.1, which is the only thing I can think of that might be related, though why it would put the kernel into debug mode is beyond me. I'll have to do some more research. Thanks.

In my experience, the only tell is in the result with Lightroom unless your processor is dog slow. You can select PS as the active app. on my Mac and see it working.
You could also modify the action to not save and close, and then check History in PS.

  • Initscripts -- echo "$HOSTNAME" | /proc/sys/kernel/hostname

I just updated initscripts and rc.sysinit is no longer working as expected.
    It seems when:
    if [[ $HOSTNAME ]]; then
        echo "$HOSTNAME" >| /proc/sys/kernel/hostname
    fi
is run. /proc/sys/kernel is not yet existing.
So $HOSTNAME is now set to "(none)" and my prompt is:
    root@(none)...
And this is in "Newbie", because I have just had a look at /proc/... so far and never before touched it... And I am asking, because I am not sure if it is just initscripts or related to systemd and .conf files.

This happens to me as well. It started when I rebooted yesterday after the initscripts update. I was planning to have a look at this tonight, so I'll come back and check this thread before doing anything :-)
I wasn't sure if it was linked to the initscript package, since I hadn't rebooted for several days.
The machine is a VPS (Xen), in case this changes anything.

    Hi MarcoFilipe
    Welcome to Apple Discussions!!
can someone help?I did a Google search on "athbmissproc: beacon miss" and it would appear this is a problem with MacBook WiFi. It is also a problem reported in FreeBSD, where there are reported workarounds (in code) for phantom interrupts causing this problem. I don't know there is much you can do about it until Apple releases a fix.
Not having wireless on my machine means I can't investigate further, but I'll see if I can find someone who can.

    Folks,
We are trying to configure the ISG as a Radius-Proxy for EAP Authentication. I have configured aaa server radius proxy, clients and aaa auth radius-proxy group as per the guide. I have my interface config as follows:
    interface TenGigabitEthernet0/2/0.205
    encapsulation dot1Q 205
    ip vrf forwarding CS
    ip address 10.20.0.1 255.255.224.0

    ip subscriber l2-connected
      initiator dhcp
      initiator radius-proxy
      arp ignore local
When I try to connect a wifi client to an AP, I can see that the AP is forwarding the Access-Request to the ISG but the ISG does not forward it to the AAA. In the ISG debug I see the following message:

Did you follow this guide? It looks like the interface configuration is there but you didnt include the actual radius configuration does it follow the guide here -

  • [Solved] Compiling kernel with 'localmodcfg' - 'brcmsmac' missing

    Hi all,
I want to compile my own optimized ck-kernel with localmodcfg="y" which works mostly.
However there is a small problem.
The module 'brcmsmac' for the WLAN card is never included although it is listed in my modprobed.db.
Does someone have any clue what could be the cause?

A minor fix for the patch by Steven Rostedt solved my issue.
I have compiled linux-ck 3.2.1-2 with localmodconfig today and brcmsmac is now included.
Marking the thread as solved, thanks to Steve.
