When viewing videos on You Tube video stops and starts, when frozenI get a spinning disc. When playing Mafa Wars things will be going well then things get real slow when switching to a new screen of play, it starts taking longer and longer, then the spinning disc comes. It usually says "try refreshing". If I refresh it either takes me to a different and unwanted screen or it just spins again.I don't know what runs videos or games really so I don't know if I have conflicts or what. I think I've updated my plugins. Also I use a wireless dsl connection and some programs try to connect to internet when firefox is already connected and I get can't find the server message. I have Windows vista home premium Service Pack 2, 64bit AMD phenom 9150e quad core, 1.80 GHz on an HP Pavillion a9700e. I don't know exactly when this started

I can't say for sure. Here's what I recommend. Try toggling the state of that preference and see if it helps.
If it helps, great!
If it doesn't help, I'm not sure what else to say...
But what I do know is that since toggling that preference doesn't show the Default status again, that means it's not a default firefox preference. Either yourself or an add-on created it. That means if you're ever going to reset Firefox and lose all your extensions and custom preferences, you might as well do this to remove that preference first to see if it will help.
# Right-click on that preference
# Select "Reset"
# Restart Firefox and that preference should disappear

The app store screen is way off to the right and stuck with the spinning wheel. I can't close it. Should I force close? It said iPhoto did not update.

The App Store screen is way off to the right so I can't access it. It has the little spinning wheel I can see when I swipe up to see what's open. It won't close. Should I try to force it? How much more time should I give it? I did just give Google some accessibily access that it asked for. Just upgraded to Maverick. I thought everything was fine. Says iPhoto needs a retry; but I can't get to the screen to try again. Pages also says it has an update; but also says it just updated.

I had tried that; but to restart it had to close, and to close it had to close the App Store, which was stuck. Finally did a force close. Am now trying to update iPhoto. We'll see if works this time.

Black screen, steady power light... and it gets weirder

The other morning I turned on my 17" MacBook Pro that has my 30" Cinema Display hooked up to it and got a black screen on the 30" with a steady power light (no morse code flashing).
There was nothing different from the night before (when it did work). No software updates, no new installs, nothing. I have a second 30" display and hooked it up to be greeted with the same issue. After swapping power supplies and a host of other things, I determined that it wasn't the monitors, but the laptop itself.
I then hooked up a PC screen using a DVI adapter and got a picture. This led me to believe it might be a driver issue, so I re-installed the 30" display software to no luck. I then re-installed SnowLeopard with no luck as well.
After researching the problem online to no avail, I found a link to a 3rd party USB display driver:

When I installed this driver and restarted my computer, the 30" display showed an image again. However, when I shut down or restart the computer, the monitor no longer shows up and I have to re-install the 3rd party driver to get a picture.
I took it into Apple's Genius Bar and they deduced that, by process of elimination, it is a failed logic board. They ran their OSX through my comp and got no display on the test screen, which made them think it wasn't a software issue but a hardware issue.
But when talking to a long established and reputable 3rd party Mac repair shop, they weren't so sure, but were at a loss to explain the problem. They suggested I test the USB port and the firewire port, which worked fine upon testing. At that point, they were stumped.
Has ANYONE encountered this before or might have a suggestion/solution? I am having a hard time believing it is a logic board failure due to the above. PRAM has been reset and the monitor shows up sporadically upon safe boot startups without the 3rd party driver install.

Your computer is on but nothing will how on the screen.
Do a hard reset.
Turn the computer off.
Remove the power cable.
Hold down the power button for 15 sec while booth power sources are removed.
This should reset the hardware in the computer.
Do you see any lights on the keyboard or the computer flashing?
Try to connect another monitor to the computer and see if you can get anything on the external screen.

I afraid you cannot save these changes with the F12 developer tool. You could copy these changes to an external editor.
Note The Changes tab will clear if you close the F12 developer tools, but the changes you made with
DOM Explorer persist until you refresh the webpage.

Why does mafia wars page start halfway down screen with 6" of blank space above? how can this be fixed?

when I click on mafia war bookmark the page content loads 6" below the top of the screen.
no other app is affected for instance face book loads correctly, so does vampire wars and zynga poker.
how can this be corrected?

You're running an old version of Safari. Before troubleshooting, try updating it to the latest version: 6.0. You can do this by clicking the Apple logo in the top left, then clicking Software update.
You can also update to the latest version of OS X, 10.8 Mountain Lion, from the Mac App Store for $19.99, which will automatically install Safari 6 as well, but this isn't essential, only reccomended.

Mafia Wars can not load completely because you are missing a plugin, pop up is too small to see the missing pluging, how do I find out what it is?

Yesterday, while playing Mafia Wars, I kept getting a bar notification that "The game can not load completely because you are missing a plugin? When I clicked on the box I got an 1/2" popup, which probably contains the information I need but it is too small to find out what it is. You can not maximize it. The is nothing visible to click on. Flash and Java are all up to date, as well as all other plugins. No plugins are disabled. How can I find what I am missing?

IN FB Mafia Wars getting this message Unexpected Error has occurred. Requested URL not found: 400 What do I do?

These errors only appear on my laptops. Running FBMW Add Ons with grease money on 1 laptop , and the other laptop does not have these installed. The problem started 3 days ago.

for the record i hate google chrome, firefox is the browser of my choice. this error also happens when i tried using ie9, the error does not happen in chrome. i am not the only person suffering from this error pop up but zynga dont seem bothered to help, instead they tell us we have to use chrome?

Adobe Flash Player Settings Local Storage popup from Mafia Wars on Facebook.

I play Mafia Wars on Facebook. I use Mac OS 10.6.5, Flash Player 10.1, and Firefox 3.6.8. Some time ago I received a popup from Zynga entitled Adobe Flash Player Settings, Local Storage asking permission to store info on my harddrive and giving me the option to allow or deny the request. However the popup is stuck; that popup will not go away.
I have contacted Zynga, followed their instructions, and have uninstalled and reinstalled Flash Player. all with no success. When I play this game on other computers, including PCs, that popup is not there which leads me to the conclusion that the file is on my Mac hard drive somewhere and has nothing to do with the game itself. Please tell me how to find this file so that I may delete it. It spoils my enjoyment of the game because it limits what I can do in the game.

I would click on the website that gave you the popup and delete that website. Perhaps this will clear it since it is stuck.
When you visit that website again, it will problably ask to store info. Be sure to read about the Website Storage Settings Panel and how it works with the Global Storage Settings Panel.

P.S. If Flash Player is working, there is no need to Uninstall and Install it again. The games and Facebook will try to always tell you something is wrong with Flash Player. Clearly it was working until their pop up stuck, right?

When i use firefox with mafia wars none of the pictures display - i think i hit a hide picture button?

using mafia wars, it does not show any of the pictures only the words so it makes it difficult to know where to click. mafia works fine when i open in chrome - so it is something i did while using firefox.

With the site on display, click on the site identity button (for details on what that is see [https://support.mozilla.com/kb/Site+Identity+Button]) and then on More Information. This will open up the page info dialog.
First select the Permissions panel, make sure that "Load Images" is set to allow (selecting Use Default should also work)
Next select the Media panel, then click on the first item in the list. Use the down arrow key to scroll through the list. If any item has the option "Block images from (domain name)" selected, de-select the option.
This should hopefully resolve your issue, but also see [https://support.mozilla.com/kb/Images+or+animations+do+not+show].
Some add-ons can also block images, for example if you have AdBlock Plus installed, make sure that you have not accidentally created a filter to block the images.

When going from the "Home" page to play Mafia Wars, I receive the message "Invalid URL" Can go back to Home page alright, but cannot return to Mafia Wars.

* "Clear the Cache": Tools > Options > Advanced > Network > Offline Storage (Cache): "Clear Now"
* "Remove the Cookies" from sites that cause problems: Tools > Options > Privacy > Cookies: "Show Cookies"
Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of the add-ons is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes).
* Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.
