View a website on a mobile device

Could anyone point me in the direction of tips/tutorials / APIs etc. that will help me
view/render websites on a mobile device?
I have connected successfully to the internet and effectively read the HTML and then appended it to the
form on my emulator, obviously this gives me the raw HTML so my form has at the end something like:
<p> Here's my webpage</p>
<p> Thanks for visiting etc....</p>How does one go about turning this into a same as it is displayed on the internet.
Am I trying to reinvent the wheel, thinking about it I'm trying to write a browser... aren't I?
Won't that be horrifically complex?
How do existing phones do it?
Thanks
Dan

Thanks for that.
That is exactly what I need. You're most welcome. Happy to be of service.
Although I notice the platform request opens the website on Firefox on my computer rather than in the emulator.
Is there anyway to get it to open within the emulator?Ahem, no. The request is after all to the platform, and the default browser is activated -- in the case of your computer, Firefox.
I assume on a real phone it would use whatever browser is installed on the phone.Spot on. The default browser -- usually the one that came preinstalled, not any added later (like Opera Mini).
But be aware, the API warns that the device "MAY wait to handle the URL request until after the MIDlet suite exits."

  • How can i view full websites and prevent mobile sites loading?

I have an HTC desire HD when I view a website using FireFox mobile I get the mobile version of the web page. I would like to disable this and get the normal version of the web page. As most of the time the mobile pages do not have all the same features as the full page. I could do Thor with my previous mobile browser.

If you want to appear to be a desktop browser install the Phony extension. Open the preferences and set the user agent to Desktop Firefox

  • How to view local videos on iOS mobile device

How do I view local videos on my iOS device running an Adobe Air app? I know how to view the CameraRoll for iOS in Flex on Adobe Air, but the CameraRoll class only brings up photos, no videos.  When I use:
    if (CameraRoll.supportsBrowseForImage) {
                                                      var roll:CameraRoll = new CameraRoll();
                                                      roll.browseForImage();
                                            } else {
      trace("Camera Browsing not available");
The cameraRoll instance that is brought up only shows photos, no videos.  Any ideas?

+1  I need this as well.
It looks like it's simply not available in CameraRoll - is support planned?  What are other possibilities - File?  Navtive extension?
Would AIR even be able to play typical phone video formats?  From a quick search, it seems that the iPhone captures h.264 in a mov container, while at least one Android phone captures MPEG-4 in a 3gp container.  I'll try transferring such videos to my computer and embedding them in a test app just to see if they play.
    Thanks for any insight!
ETA: The docs for NetStream list h.264 and 3gp as supported formats.  From my testing, however, NetStream does play the iPhone .mov file, but does not play the Android .3gp file.  A Loader plays neither.

  • Can't be viewed on mobile devices?

So, after putting up with the creative cloud and the inability to share folders with clients whom have many files and no fix in site, I came across workspaces.  Look!  I can share folders now, but my clients cannont view the files from their mobile devices.
Am I the only ******* idiot that would like to post comps, share folders, and have my clients sign off on them where ever they may be?
Adobe, you are in the creative arts industry aren't you?

We're sorry for the frustration this has caused you.  Unfortunately Workspaces isn't supported on any mobile environments.

  • Converting website to mobile device friendly site

I was wondering if Dreamweaver had a convert button or

convert a website to a mobile website? Thank you for your time.
    Sincerely,

Option #1 could involve various techniques:
    - design a fluid-width page
    - use CSS for all the positioning
    - create a separate 'handheld' CSS file
    - use javscript as an enhancement rather than a requirement
Option #2 requires a central DB for the content, and then as
    many templates
as you want to display said content. You really need a CMS
    for this (content
management system). THere are dozens upon dozens of options
    out there for
    CMSes.

  • Apple Mobile Device Service Stopped Working 8.2

Ugh. I know there have been many posts on this, and I've tried all the suggestions, but nothing has helped.
I'm running Vista Ultimate x64. I upgraded to iTunes 8.2. The second it finished installing, I got a message that said "Apple Mobile Device Stopped Working and Was Closed". The computer recognizes my iPhone, and there are no errors in the device manager, but iTunes says "iTunes can not sync with the iPhone because Apple Mobile Device Service is not started. Here's what I've done so far:
I added application exceptions for everything in the Apple Mobile Device and iTunes folders to my Norton 360 firewall.
I uninstalled everything Apple related (including mobile device service, bonjour, etc), cleaned my registry and re-installed 8.2.
I uninstalled again and went back to 8.1 The mobile device service worked, but when I opened iTunes I got an iTunes message that said "iTunes can not open ituneslibrary.itl because it was created by a newer version of iTunes."
I uninstalled, reinstalled 8.2, uninstalled just the mobile device service, and installed just the mobile device service from 8.1. Everything was fine until I opened iTunes and got an error message that said "iTunes recquires a newer version of Apple Mobile Device Support. Please upgrade".
So at this point it looks like my options are: Go back to 8.1 and start over with a brand new library (which is a huge pain because I've got over 300 gigs of music and at least 50 playlists that I use for my work) OR stay with 8.2 and not be able to sync my iPhone (also a huge pain because, well, I need to be able to sync).
Here's the log entry in my Event Viewer every time the "Appple Mobile Device Stopped Working" error pops up: "Faulting application AppleMobileDeviceService.exe, version 2.50.39.0, time stamp 0x49f9b7cf, faulting module RPCRT4.dll, version 6.0.6001.18051, time stamp 0x48002cd4, exception code 0xc0000005, fault offset 0x00018092, process id 0x14d8, application start time 0x01c9e9f70b1e30ad."
Does anybody have any ideas? Does it have something to do with my system being 64 bit and where iTunes installs its drivers and such? Is there another update coming soon, Apple?
    Thanks,
    Matt

Stay with itunes 8.1 - sounds like that was working for you.
Get the itunes database file for itunes 8.1 out of the *Previous iTunes Libraries* folder.

  • ITunes 9.2, the Apple Mobile Device service is not started...(crashed).

"This iPhone cannot be used because the Apple Mobile Device service is not started"
The above shows each time I try to start iTunes after upgrading to 9.2 (from 9.1) this morning on my Sony Vaio (Windows 7 32 bit) laptop.
The AMD service crashes as soon as iTunes starts; services control panel shows this and the event viewer confirms with : The Apple Mobile Device service terminated unexpectedly. It has done this 6 time(s). The following corrective action will be taken in 60000 milliseconds: Restart the service.
Restarting the service while iTunes is running does not provoke iTunes into listing my iPhone, which, under 9.1 was all working correctly.
After removing iTunes, all associated apple programs, QuickTime etc, removing temporary files and so forth, then reinstalling 9.2, I'm left in the same place, each time I start iTunes, the AMD service crashes and iTunes does not list my iPhone.
Any thoughts or help would be greatly appreciated.
    Regards, Gary Thomlinson

Most people on here seem to be having problems with iTunes 9.2 on 64 systems, I however am on 32 bit.
I've also noticed just this morning, that putting my old iPod on this computer does spring iTunes into life and the device shows/syncs. The iPhone 3GS however does not, causing the service to crash or just itunes to ignore the device. I've tried and restore/backup etc (via another computer) and still iTunes refuses to see the iPhone. This has SO got to be a bug.
Irony is, my iPhone 4 arrives today, and this is the only computer I have access to at the moment, meaning no iPhone 4 activation today!!

  • PDF shows fine on computers, blank on mobile devices?

    Hey everyone,
We use Adobe Reader to create Order forms for customers to sign (from our own created template).
When we export the files and email them to clients, they show up fine on computers. However if the client chooses to view said PDF on their mobile device, it shows the form without any text filled into it.
    Any ideas?
P.S. - Just an explanation of our process: The form is a template we created a while ago. We open the template in Adobe Reader, add the customer's information and signature, and then save it as a PDF file converted. The converted PDF is emailed to the customer (locked version).

Is is normal since a number of PDF viewers on mobile devices have limited to no support for PDF forms. If they open the filled-in form in Adobe Reader, the field data should be visible. If you don't need the fields to be interactive by the recipient, you can flatten them in Acrobat (not Reader) before sending and the data will be visible.
You can flatten a form in Reader (10, 11) if the form is not Reader-enabled and you use the EchoSign e-signature features, which can flatten the form after an e-signature is placed.

  • Is it possible to link a shared calender to multiple users mobile devices?

We are trying to use an outlook shared calendar to schedule day to day activities in a remote location where desktop access is limited. Is it possible to view a shared calendar thru mobile devices that have an outlook account> So far the only participant
that can view the calendar on his phone is who ever created it.

They cannot access it via the shared mailbox or as a shared calendar in their mailbox. If you use the Share calendar feature to generate an ics link, or publish the calendar, users should be able to subscribe to the calendar by adding the ics link to their
calendar app. (I know it works in iOS devices, have not tried on Android or WinPhone.)

  • Putting Facebook comments and PayPal on both computer and mobile devices

I want to put Facebook and PayPal on the website, but I will need to put them on both the computer and mobile versions. Will there be problems between the two? For instance, if someone comments on the website using a mobile device will it show up on the computer version and vice-versa. And regarding PayPal, a customer should be able to use either to purchase something? I would imagine I am not the first person to face this. Anybody have any ideas?

I have the same concern regarding PayPal - I am going to contact PayPal to see what needs to be done and will let you know.
I would imagine Facebook should be ok on both. With PayPal though, I want to have the "Mobile Express Checkout! on the phone version of my muse site so the paypal/visa payment process is the correct version for mobile. James

  • Multi-Slide Synchronized .f4v videos looping 3 times on mobile device

I created an elearning project in captivate 8.01 which includes several slides with .f4v videos as multi-slide synchronized videos. Each of these videos spans only one slide. I published this course to our LMS (Cornerstone OnDemand Learning Cloud) in HTML5 and SWF to accommodate desktop and mobile learners. I used the SCORM 2004 1.3 standard. The project plays as expected on a desktop PC, progressing from slide to slide after each video is played (note I tried this both with HTML5 and SWF output, and it worked fine on the desktop). However, when viewing this course on a mobile device (my tablet is an Android 4.4.2), each of the slides with a video loops three times before progressing to the next slide. I tried putting the slide action "On Exit: Go to next slide" on these slides with videos to force the project to progress, but with no success. How can I ensure that these videos play only once then progress to the next slide on a mobile device?

No controllers showing here either. Controllers show and work in preview mode, but when publishing to Html5 then playing on Ipad, video in slide plays once, but now controls visible...can't pause. stop or rewind...

  • HT1386 I am having problems syncing my iphone to my itunes account.  I am getting a message stating" Apple mobile device service not started"......does anyone know what has happened???

I am trying to transfer my music to my iphone.  I have done this many times before but today I am getting a message stating that my Applie mobile device service has not been set up.  Could someone help me?

    Hey Patsy,
This is a pretty simple issue to fix.
For Windows 7 or Vista: Start> Search for 'Services'> Select the Services that shows as a Program> Click on Apple Mobile Device> And then press Start.
Windows XP> Start> Control Panel> Administrative Tools> Services (You may see this on the first Control Panel page depending on which view it's in)> Apple Mobile Device> Start the service.\

  • Page shrinks and left aligns on mobile devices

I built a one page parallax scrolling site in muse, http://www.aviditycreative.com. The desktop version works perfectly, but when I preview and view the site on a mobile device it shrinks the entire page and pushes it to the left. There are scrolling effects but I notice the issue with and without scrolling effects, I think.
    Please help!

I found the problem.  The trick is to open the page plan that has the problem.  Look for the properties type box that normally floats around next to Muse.
It has sections labeled: Swatches, Fill, Text, Scroll, etc.  Click on layers.  Expand the triangle to expose the component pieces if the page (text boxes, photos, etc.). There is an eye shaped icon next to each page  component.  Notice that if you click on the eye, parts of the web page will become invisible or hidden (if they are critical and have a photo or text in them).  Click again and the text or image will return.
I found two empty text boxes that served no purpose.  When I clicked on the eye shaped icon, nothing disappeared.  I dragged them to the trash can at the bottom and re-published the page.  Suddenly, the web page on mobile devices (like iPads and Android phones) was fixed and looked really good again.
    In Summary:
Expand layers and make sure every box has a purpose.  If it's empty and hanging around, it will likely shrink the view of the page on mobile devices.  If you don't know this, it will be hard to understand why the page is so tiny on an iPad.  Empty boxes break the mobile device view.

  • Sizing on mobile devices

    Hi there,
I'm hoping someone can help me with an issue regarding
viewing Flash pages on a mobile device. When I open up a page with
a flash item it is displayed so small that it is completely
illegible. There appears to be no option to zoom in to make it
readable. Anybody have any ideas or sggestions?
I am using Windows Mobile 2003 on an IPAQ4155 with Flash
Player 6.0 installed. (Have tried version 7.0 as well, but it has
the same problem but also gave me an error message 404 when the
    Flash item has finished dowloading!)
    Thanks.

Did you incorporate % position and sizing methods or is everything static widths and heights?

  • Websites read my macbook pro as a mobile device. How do I fix this?

This has been going on for as long as I've had my Macbook Pro (May 2011)--AND since before I recently updated my operating system to Mavericks from Snow Leopard. It's getting really annoying. It used to be that just the MGM Resorts properties in Las Vegas read my laptop as a mobile device, but now other websites are starting to do so as well. How do I make these websites understand that I'm using a laptop and want to view their full websites, not the mobile version?

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a test, not a solution. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
    Step 1
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is localized to your user account.
Enable guest logins* and log in as Guest. Don't use the Safari-only “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac.”
While logged in as Guest, you won’t have access to any of your personal files or settings. Applications will behave as if you were running them for the first time. Don’t be alarmed by this; it’s normal. If you need any passwords or other personal data in order to complete the test, memorize, print, or write them down before you begin.
Test while logged in as Guest. Same problem?
After testing, log out of the guest account and, in your own account, disable it if you wish. Any files you created in the guest account will be deleted automatically when you log out of it.
*Note: If you’ve activated “Find My Mac” or FileVault, then you can’t enable the Guest account. The “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac” is not the same. Create a new account in which to test, and delete it, including its home folder, after testing.
    Step 2
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party system modifications that load automatically at startup or login, by a peripheral device, by a font conflict, or by corruption of the file system or of certain system caches.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards, if applicable. Start up in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. You must hold down the shift key twice: once when you boot, and again when you log in.
Note: If FileVault is enabled, or if a firmware password is set, or if the boot volume is a Fusion Drive or a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, with limited graphics performance, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output and Wi-Fi on certain models. The next normal boot may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem?
After testing, reboot as usual (not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of Steps 1 and 2.
