View .erd files in SQL Developer

Hi,
I was given an .erd file that was created in TOAD. I have SQL Developer, and I haven't figured out how to view the file. Do I need a different tool? I do not have the ability to get TOAD, so I will need something else to view these files.
Any ideas?
Thanks!

Pretty sure erd is a proprietary format from TOAD, not some open standard as pdf is.
So find the ability to get TOAD, or throw away the file and start over in another tool.
Have fun,
K.

    I found out that the XML files data are in one ROW?

    Hi RAGS1109,
    If our XML data starts to get more complicated (multiple levels of elements / attributes), we start getting more outputs, we will have to join those outputs with a merge join transform.
    Please refer to the following document how to dealing with multiple outputs for XML data source:

  • View CLOB data in SQL Developer

    Hi,
    Can anyone let me know how to view CLOB data in SQL Developer 2.1.
    I am having images stored in a column of datatype CLOB. How to view this image.
    Database is 10.2.0.4.

    Since SQL Developer has no idea about the type of data stored in LOB columns, one cannot view that content in desired format.
    You need a tool to extract the LOB data and render it accordingly.
    BTW, do you mean BLOB here?

  • Double click to open .sql files with sql developer on mac osx

    hi,
    I am trying to double click a .sql file and open it with SQL Developer on Mac OSX lion. I have associated .sql files to SQL Developer. On clicking the file it opens the SQL developer application but does not open the actual .sql file. Any ideas?
    Thanks

    Hello,
    Did you find any solution to your problem ? My SQL Developer worked fine and could open additional SQL files. Now it only opens the first one when starting SQL Developer. Additionnal files cannot be opened. Even running sqldeveloper.exe from command line with a SQL file as parameter doesn't help.
    I'm on Windows 7, 64 bit, but the environment may not necessarily be the cause.

  • Load .JAR file using SQL Developer

    Hi,
    I have couple of .JAR files on my local machine which has to be loaded on to the oracle server (11g). I tried using the load Java functionality in the SQL Developer but realised one could load a java class only if you had the source code.
    Is my understanding correct or is there a way to load a JAR file using sql developer ?
    Thanks

    K,
    Thanks for the answer.
    Do you know if you have to restart oracle after loading .jar files ? I ask this because I am not aware if oracle/jvm automatically knows that the jar files have been uploaded.
    Thanks

  • How to exclude schema name from exported files (PL SQL Developer)

    Dear all,
    Just one question: I am using PL SQL Developer. My goal is to export some data (as .sql and .dmp files) from one database and to import them into the another database (both databases have identical structure - test database and production, just different database names and names of schema. In order to make it possible, I need to exclude schema name from generated export file. I believe that it is possible to do it automatically by setting up parameters of PL SQL Developer. How?
    Thank you in advance,
    Kindest regards,
    Dragana

    In the meantime, I have found the answer on my previous question:
    Actually, the initial idea (how to exclude schema name from exported files) was wrong. No need for any intervention.
    Trick is: Schema name can be changed during the import of exported files (PL SQL Developer during import gives possibility: From User (old schema) To User (new schema) .
    Hope that this will be useful info for others.

  • Unable to view table list in sql developer

    I am able to connect to the database through sql developer but unable to view tables list.
    Select query is displaying the contents though.
    Any Help ???

    Using SQL Developer, I log in using the owner user id and password. I can see all but one of my materialized views. It was definitely created by the user id I'm logged in as. A query of user_objects in sql+ shows all MVs, including the one that's missing in SQL Developer. If I log in using the same credentials in TOAD, the MV is displayed in the current schema, as I'd expect. The super weird thing is that if I use the previous version of SQL Developer, I see that MV! Any thoughts?

  • Issue with viewing Package Body in SQL Developer 2.1 EA1

    I was able to view the package body from different schemas after I log in with user account in SQL Developer 1.5.5.
    But with SQL Developer 2.1 EA1, I could view only spec and I can see the package body only if I log in with DBO account.
    Is there any setting that needs to be configured to be able to view the package body?
    Thanks!

    Thanks for replying my message.
    It's Oracle 9i.
    What I meant 'spec' is you can see only the headers you defined in spec. You can expend the package and be able to see the all functions and procedures but you won't be able to see the '%packagename% Body' where all the detail code were written.
    As I mentioned in my previous post, with SQL Developer 1.5.5 version, you can see spec and package body if you expend the package.

    Didn't they teach you how to use this program?
    I suggest you go through the tutorials inside sqldev's help first.
    Basically, you can just open them through File - Open, or through Windows' Explorer. Then assign the connection in the upper right corner, and Run Script (F5).

  • Viewing CLOB data in sql developer

    In SQL Developer 1.1, if CLOB data was returned from a query, you could place your mouse over the column and get most of it.
    But in 1.2, all you get is "(CLOB) <some data> ...", and nothing else. Is there something I need to set?

    You should look in the SQL Developer forum. I think your question is answered here:
    How to view the entire CLOB in results table?

  • Store result in file in SQL Developer

    Hi,
    Is there any way to store results from query or SP in physical file ?
    I could not find any option for that, I'm running it from Windows machine using SQL Developer,
    then I expect output file will be stored on Ora server machine, right ? There is probably no option for Oracle to store it on local W machine.

    A few remarks:
    - This is not the SQL Developer forum
    - SQL Developer comes with online help
    - Did you see the print and the disk icon in the upper left hand corner of the output window
    Could you please avoid this type of question in the future? It makes you look very silly.

  • How to view sys_context value in SQL Developer?

    hello
    i can view the results via sqlplus with following statements:
    SELECT SYS_CONTEXT ('empno_ctx', 'empno_attrib') empno_attrib FROM DUAL;
    SELECT * FROM SESSION_CONTEXT;
    both retrieve correct values;
    now, since i work mainly in SQL Developer i wanted to view the results in there as well;
    i ran the procedure in SQL Developer via right-click on the procedure -> run;
    it looked like it ran ok;
    however when i do the above queries nothing is retrieved;
    any suggestions?
    thanks
    rgds

    Hi,
    You can use
    SELECT SYS_CONTEXT ('empno_ctx', 'empno_attrib') empno_attrib into <Variable Name> FROM DUAL;
    dbms_output.putline (<Variable Name>
    So after you execute the procedure. You will be able to see the value in output window.

  • Bulk import of tnsnames.ora file into SQL developer on first run

    Is there a way for SQL developer to read the tnsnames.ora file and import all of the connections from that? Near as I can see, I would either have to manually add each of them or import an xml file of some kind...Thoughts?

    There's a feature request for this at the Exchange (http://htmldb.oracle.com/pls/otn/f?p=42626:39:3634225177876117::NO::P39_ID:4582), but they closed it down like a crack-house :-(
    So you just have to continue your manual slave-labours...

  • Import an excel file into SQL Developer and create a table

    Hello everyone!
    I have an Excel file I want to Import into SQL Developer. Do I need to Create a table first than import the file into the table?
    Or is there a way to import an Excel file and it automatically generate or turn into a table?
    I would really appreciate any directions or explanations.
    Thanks everyone!

    SQLDeveloper TeamThanks for the reply but the problem was I needed to convert the file to a csv format. To do this open the file in Excel and re-save as CSV Comma Delimiter. Don't worry about data-types because when the file is uploaded to SQL Developer, you will have the chance to set all the parameters, data-types and so on.
    Once I did this and try opening the file, the setup window opened and I was able to do all the additional tweaking and convert the data to a table.
    Because of this I am speculating that SQL Developer does not work with Excel XLSX extension.
    Thanks again!
