View podcast Comments field on iPod?

I have a lot of podcasts I listen to on my iPod (classic & nano) but it would be really nice if there were a way to view the Comments field because on these particular podcasts, that's where the info about the show is. Otherwise they basically all look alike, except for the date/hour which doesn't help me sort through which I'd like to hear.
Is there a way to view Comments on the iPod or is that strictly an iTunes option?
Thanks.
Sally

I don't think that is possible. You can only view the Description, not the Comments.
It sure would be nice if iTunes let you edit the Description, wouldn't it? You can try giving Apple feedback about it here:
http://www.apple.com/feedback/itunesapp.html
I wrote a script that will let you edit the description of the tracks you select in iTunes -- but it would be up to you to manually copy the comments field (copy and paste should work). If you want to use it, download the script, then select the podcast tracks in iTunes, then run the script by double-clicking on it. You will be prompted to enter the description for each track.
You can download it here:
http://www.pobox.com/~teridon/itunesscripts/itunes_description.vbs (right-click, and select "Save link as")
Or copy and paste from below into a text file (use Notepad):

  • View itunes comments field on Ipod

I like to add additional information about my item in itunes in the comments field (ie: if it is a spoken item, date of event). How can I view this information on the actual ipod? It would be nice especially if I have more than one spoken item and don't remember the actual title, just date.

Comments don't display on any current model iPod, the additional information on songs can only be viewed through iTunes. A workaround would be to add the date to the title, if comments are something you'd be interested in seeing you can leave feedback/feature requests at this link: Apple Product Feedback

  • Can not view Podcasts on iPod with new iTunes

I just installed the newest release of iTunes for Win XP (7.1.1.5) and now I can't see any of my Podcasts on my iPod (I have an iPod mini). I want to delete some of the podcasts from my iPod, but not all of them. And since I can't view them (I can only view MUSIC) I can't do that.
    Any suggestions?

Thanks for the posting to my question.
But the Podcasts currently on my iPod are not in my iTunes (I delete them after transferring to my iPod as I don't want to get confused which are new and which are old...).
So the problem is my inability to access my podcasts that are on my iPod as I want to delete the ones I've already listened to... If you have another guess I'd be very happy to give it a try.

  • View whole annotations/comments field in Pages 5?

Is it possible to view the whole annotations/comments field in Pages 5? It's so annoying if you have to scroll through the annotations!!

Ditto. This is sad.  The app changes and loses features. The old app was pretty nice. The new one is pretty but not nice.
What is even more pretty (as in pretty sad) is that I have to use MS Word now more often because of Pages 5.x) to get things done... minor things like identifying the author of a document.
Hard to have faith in this company and products when they leave you swinging in the breeze with half baked products that have so much potential but like raw cookie dough, can give you an upset stomach after you commit to a plate full.
Put another way, to switch to using my iPad for work I have to be able to rely on Pages on my Mac and my iPad to not leave me swinging in the breeze like this (and this is one example of many many examples).
I really don't mind paying for Pages, even out of my own pocket, but it has to live up to some minimal Pages 4 standard.

  • Can I view podcasts with a 2nd generation iPod touch?

Can I view podcasts on a 2nd generation iPod touch?

Ain't gonna happen.  The 2G does not have the necessary hardware to support iOS5.  The "Check for Update" process checks to see what version of Ipod you have.  If your iPod does not meet the upgrade requirements iTunes will tell you....

  • Some, but not all, podcasts existing on the iPod no longer appear in iTunes. Different podcasts have been affected at different times, after changes in the state of the iPod. Only podcasts are affected.

I have not seen this precise issue addressed anywhere. I don’t know if it’s an iTunes or an iPod problem:
    - Some, but not all, podcasts existing on the iPod no longer appear in iTunes;
this, after normal behavior for more than a year since purchase of the iPod.
    - Different podcasts have been affected at different times, after changes in the state of the iPod.
    - Only podcasts are affected.
    - This concerns an iPod nano 6th gen. and iTunes 11.0.2 (26) on System 10.6.8
    - The only change to iTunes, the Mac, or the iPod is that just before this condition began
I’d begun syncing an iPhone via iTunes.
I sync manually (“manually manage music and videos”). The first time this happened, I wanted to delete seventeen podcast episodes (all belonging to one podcast) existing on the iPod — but they didn’t show up in iTunes. I tried re-downloading them and re-syncing, to see if the new versions would somehow “re-link” to iTunes. They didn’t. Only one — new — episode appeared in iTunes.
I ultimately reset the iPod and manually resynced all the podcasts I currently had on iTunes. That worked, though I had to painstakingly add in all the other content deleted by the reset.
So: after that reset and manual sync, all podcasts and episodes on the iPod were visible to iTunes and I was able to delete the podcast and its — now 18 — episodes I’d wanted to get rid of to begin with. But the next time I connected the iPod, only 8 podcast episodes out of 21 episodes total existing on the iPod were visible to iTunes. These are different podcasts; I’d deleted the original “invisible” ones.
By “visible,” I mean in the “Podcasts” list view under “[name]’s iPod” in the iTunes sidebar. If I select “[name]’s” iPod in the iTunes sidebar and the “Podcasts” tab, all podcasts and episodes are visible, though greyed out because I’m set to sync manually. It’s unclear to me if these are the podcasts on the iPod or those currently in iTunes, as they are currently the same. If I switch to syncing automatically, all content on the iPod will be lost again, so I’m not up to trying it at the moment.
As I said,  this involves only podcasts. All other content on the iPod does appear in iTunes.

I have the same problem- i see my movies in the ipod section in itunes and they even show as mpeg4 in the 'kind' section but they dont have that small TV icon next to them. if i play these in itunes, they play fine- but try playing them on the ipod and all you hear is the sound and no picture. All videos that i manually transfer work fine in the beginning- its when i hook up the ipod to the comp again and start itunes- they start showing up without the 'tv' icon!! i have to again transfer them from the itunes library to activate them as videos.

  • How to view "From" header field in OUTgoing messages in Mail? Frustrating.

In Mail v.4.3 (in OSX 10.6.4), I need to view the "From" field in my outgoing messages as I am composing them. However, there seems to be no setting in Mail which allow this.
I find this very frustrating because in Eudora (which I used to use), the "From" field in outgoing messages is visible by default. But in Mail, not only is it not visible by default, there seems to be no way to make it visible.
In the "Customize..." button to the left of the Subject field in outgoing messages, one has the option to add as default outgoing message fields "cc," "bcc," "Reply-To," and "Subject," but none of those are what I want. It allows one to also view the address of the mail server, but that also is not what I'm looking for. What I want is to see my outgoing +email address+. And nowhere is there an option in the Preferences to turn this on. (At least as far as I could tell.)
In fact, the only way to see the identity in the outgoing "From" field is to go to Preferences, then click on Accounts, and look there; or send oneself a test email. Both of which are a hassle and should be unnecessary.
In case you're curious as to why I want to see my outgoing "From" header field:
I have several different "personas" online, each of which uses a different email address: My work address (with a work-related domain); my family/personal address (with a different email address than my work address); an online avatar I use in various gaming sites (also with its own address, since I don't want to use my personal name/address in the gaming community); and so on. However, I have all incoming emails to all accounts auto-forwarded to the same central email account. Most of the time I'm just replying to business emails, so my outgoing "Full Name" and "Email Address" (in Preferences>Accounts) are generally set to my business name and address; but on occasion when I want to reply to a non-business email and not have the recipient see my business email address, I go in to Preferences>Accounts and change "Full Name" and "Email Address" (i.e. what is displayed to the user) to something different. And when I'm done with that, I change it back to my business address.
However, sometimes I forget if I've changed it back or not, or forget what I've changed it to. In Eudora, All one needed to one was create a new outgoing email and it would display the "From" field so I could instantly see my outgoing identity. But in Mail, there is no "From" field in outgoing emails, so I'm constantly nervous and wondering which outgoing identity I may have changed to and accidentally forgotten to change back from.
(Yes, yes, I know that if a recipient wanted to be snoopy, they could look at the "full headers" of any incoming email and see the name of my email server, which may different from my displayed email address; but we're not talking about spy-stuff here, I'm just trying to not confuse people and keep business separate from personal.)
So: is there any way for me to see the outgoing "From" field in the emails I send? Or am I condemned to constantly (and mostly unnecessarily) checking "Preferences>Accounts" to see what I have enetered there?

    Thanks for replying.
What is the "compose window" to which you are both referring? I could find no reference to such a thing in the Mail menus or Help.
Do you mean the "Composing" pane in the Preferences? I don't see what either one of you is referring to there, but I did notice there something that could function as an awkward workaround: If I click on the "Automatically CC myself" box in Preferences>Composing, then when I start a new email, my email address is displayed in the "CC" field -- and luckily, Mail allows me to then delete my email address out of the CC field, so I don't have to spam myself with duplicate copies of all my emails. This way, I can at least briefly see what email address I'm using, before I delete it from the CC field. Pretty awkward and unnecessarily laborious, however -- still not a perfect solution.
Or, by "composing window," are you referring to an outgoing email? As I said in my original comment, I do see what Ernie called "a small box with lines and an arrow at the bottom left of the header box." This is what I had to say about it:
+"In the "Customize..." button to the left of the Subject field in outgoing messages, one has the option to add as default outgoing message fields "cc," "bcc," "Reply-To," and "Subject," but none of those are what I want. It allows one to also view the address of the mail server, but that also is not what I'm looking for. What I want is to see my outgoing email address. And nowhere is there an option in the Preferences to turn this on. (At least as far as I could tell.)"+
In other words, when Ernie says, "click the box beside From," I can't do that -- because there is no such option. That's the whole problem in the first place. If there was a "From" field beside which I could click a box to make it appear, I would have done so! But there is no "From" field in the "Customize" section of the "small box with lines and an arrow at the bottom left of the header box."
I find it completely mystifying that both of you seem to be able to see a "From" field available to be added to the header of outgoing emails, yet no such option is available to me in Mail. What possibly could be causing this? 10.6.4 is freshly installed on my machine, and Mail seems brand new and uncorrupted. And I'm using Mail 4.3, the latest version.
Are you saying that everyone else can see an option to have a "From" field in their outgoing messages, but I uniquely don't? Very very very strange.

  • How to view Year of Song in iPod Classic

I am currently working on a project to add the correct YEAR to all my songs in iTunes. Greatest Hits & Compilation albums mostly have the date that album was released and not the actual release of that individual song. After all this hard work I'm undertaking I can see the benefit in iTunes in which I can create smart playlists based on the Year of the song.
What I'm wanting to know if I can view those Years in my iPod.

No you can't. If you want more information than is currently displayed, i.e. Artist, Album, Track Name, Duration & Rating, then you could place this in the Lyrics field (in addition to the lyrics if you have them). If the lyrics field has data then it can be shown by pressing the centre select button a number of times while a track is playing.

  • Read versions of comments field using javascript client object model

    Hi,
Does someone knows how to Read versions  of comments field in 'tasks' list using javascript client object model?
    Thanks
    Manvir

    Hi,
According to your description, I know you want to read versions of comments field.
    We can use the
SPServices to achieve it. The below code for your reference:
    $().SPServices({
    operation: "GetVersionCollection",
    async: false,
    strlistID: "tester",
    strlistItemID: 1,
    strFieldName: "comments",
    completefunc: function (xData, Status) {
    $(xData.responseText).find("Version").each(function(i) {
    console.log("Name: " + $(this).attr("Information") + " Modified: " + $(this).attr("Modified"));

  • Can you export the date and user to Excel that appears into a Comments field in a tracking list?

    Hi everyone,
Can you export the date and user to Excel that appears into a Comments field in a tracking list?
When i export a tracking list with a Comment field in the Content type, the screen where you enter the data for an item, the Comments field just export the text of the comment into the Excel file.
In the Comments field appears also, besides the comment text,  the user and date from who and when the comment is added.
Is there a way to export also the user and the date?
    Thanks
    Wim

create another comment field that doesn't use 'appending', and through SP Designer change workflow keep
updating that field with the new comments  (prepend the field with date/username/new comment). Hide the field on all forms, but put it in the view you need to export to Excel.

  • Applying Album names to Comments field in iPhoto 6

I was never in the habit of applying anything to photo comments, but gave my albums a desriptive name so I knew what they were. However album titles are not searchable. I'm wondering if anyone knows how to create an Automator workflow or Applescript that could take the Album Name and apply it to the comments field for each picture in the album. I have over 25,000 pictures and quite a few albums. I've started to do it manually for each album but would love to find a quicker way to accomplish this.
    Thanks.

    Hi elenting,
It must be done within iPhoto. I started doing that awhile ago so I could find images in an album by doing a spotlight search for the album.
This is what I have done using Spotlight to find my images that are in iPhoto albums without opening iPhoto..
In iPhoto, select the album, then select all, go to Photos/batch change.
Change the comments to text. In the text field I put the name of the Album.
    Do this for each album.
    Close iPhoto.
Open Spotlight and put in the name of the Album ( you have to remember the names of the albums or have then written down)
In the spotlight search results. click on "show all"
Under "Images" click on the "xx more" to show all the images in the album.
Make sure you have it in icon view, the icon view box is the last one on the blue images line.
Now you can control click on the image to "reveal in finder", open in iPhoto or Mail, etc.
I am not sure if this is going to make you happy and it is a little more work, but you can find images in albums and even view them in a slideshow (by clicking the play arrow at the end of the Images highlighted blue line) using Spotlight, all without opening iPhoto.
I've also go to mention a useful widget called "iPhoto mini widget"
This widget will show you all images within it's viewer in an album.
for the image you are currently viewing , go to the Gear icon (menu" and you can choose to "open in" Preview, Mail, Safari or custom. It's pretty handy to choose an image and have it open in Mail to send.

  • How can I make the comments field appear when the operator is debugging a test?

When a test is being written the comments field is being utilized for information relating to what the test is doing and how to solve certain problems that arise. It is basically a quick place for the technician to look at when they are attempting to debug a board. However it appears when you view the sequence files these are off to the right side of the screen but when running the debug engine and the technician sets a break point then these comments are no longer visible to the user off to the right of the screen. Is there any way to have it include the comment in the data displayed when tracing through a test step by step. The technician can double click on each step but it would be alot mor
e user friendly and timly if these could be displayed just to the right of the execution flow column.

    Hello John,
I assume you are talking about the sequence editor. Unfortunately, there is currently no way to view the comments associated with a step inside of the execution display window (i.e during run-time). If you are using the operator interface, then you may extract the comment associated with a step and post a custom UI message that contains this information. The operator interface can then be modified to respond to this UIMessage and update its display accordingly.
To post a UIMessage with this data, you must first obtain a PropertyObject reference to the step you are trying to extract the comment from. Then use the "Comment" property of the PropertyObject class to obtain the comment value.
Unfortunately, the Sequence Editor discards all custo
m UIMessages, and you will have no way of viewing the comment using the above method.
    Hope this helps.

  • Tags from 'Comments' field in Windows Explorer don't show up in iTunes

I have thousand of files where I allready put tags directly in the comments field in the files proberties in Windows Explorer, but the tags don't show up in iTunes comments field?
I can then manually put tags directly in iTunes comments field and they will not show up in the proberties of the files in Windown Explorer!
So I ask, why on earth aren't those fields (in iTunes and in Windows Explorer) compatible, when all other fields (for example name, artist, year) are compatible?

Okay, thanks for replies and for your time, but the problem continues.
First: I've ripped CD's in different ways (before starting to use iTunes). I've used Nero, Windows Media Player, Lame and imported mp3 files directly from the internet. Some files have been through Flash Renamer and TigoTago. After importing the files I've tagged them with comments and other stuff directly in Windows Explorer. And then I decided to use iTunes because of buying iPods and playing music through AirPort Express.
What I've tried to right now:
I've tried to check files with MP3Val, but it said the files were OK.
Then I tried - with another laptop - to install I new iTunes program (English language to be sure and there after I imported/ripped a new CD using iTunes to import. Before importing I put a tag in the Comments field in iTunes and it never showed up in Windows Explorer Comment field. I also tried after that to put tags directly in Windows Explorer Comment field and add the files once again to iTunes library, but again, no comments in iTunes. Also again put tags in iTunes, but no tags in Windows Explorer.
Then I did more or less the same using Realplayer to import the CD, but with the same negative results.
*Then I went back to my old laptop, imported a CD using iTunes and then tagged the comment field in Windows Explorer and suddenly I got comments in iTunes! But the comments look like this: "00000000 00000210 000008E8 0000000000775908 00000000 0040E5E1 00000000 00000000 00000000 00000000 00000000 00000000".*
I don't know what to do with this?
And apparently, it's only when importing new files using iTunes to rip the CD, that this happens. Otherwise, nothing happens at all.

    Hi Raymond,
Thank you for the reply. As per the note some one already implemented the Screen Enhancement with 2 custom views. I need to add the field in any one of existing custom view. So for this I have created a Subscreen in copied function group of MGD1(Y_FE_MARA). But in the function group already 10 Subscreens were created. Is this is the problem? or else copy the FG MGD1 into another FG and create the subscreen will be feasible to my scenario?
    Please suggest me.

  • Copy iTunes file path to Comments field?

Since there is no built in way to display the file path of files in your iTunes library, can you copy the file paths to the "Comments" field?
Teridon wrote an awesome script that will copy them into the "Description" field, however, this overwrites what you have in that field and is not desirable especially for podcasts.
I attempted to adapt his vbs to write to track.Comments, but "Comments" is not a valid object?
    Any ideas?

I haven't tested it, but I think if you use "track.Comment" instead of track.Description it will work. i.e. change this line:
    track.Description = FileList
    to this:
    track.Comment = FileList
Of course, this will overwrite any existing Comment field.
Oh, and the entire script (for putting the file path in the description) is here:
