View query to results array

previus information... jdeveloper 10.1.3.0.4, the application is java swing adf bc .
hi, i have a bc view (sql only) inside an application module, how could i assign the results of view's query with an array of objects.

Not sure if this is on target, but if you are using ADF BC the view object's query results are already in an array of objects. Reference the following document to view how the results are structured. You can programmatically then work with the results set using the ViewObject, RowSet, and RowSetIterator Interfaces. See the SRDemo Application Module services for some examples of this in action (demo is in JSF though, not Swing.)

  • Create Materialized View based on Results from LDAP Query

    Hi -- I'm trying to create a materialized view based on results from an LDAP query. Unfortunately, it looks like a materialized view can't be created based on a stored procedure, which is where the LDAP results are obtained (using nested loops).
    Does anyone have any idea how to do this without first kicking off a stored procedure that populates a temp table which would be used to create the materialized view? I'm trying to minimize the steps that the DBA's will need to go through when refreshing this new view.
    Thanks,
    ~Christine

    Can you give us more details about the stored procedure you're calling. It will help to know what parameters are involved and what data types they are.
    Off the top of my head though it looks like, at the very least, you would need a stored function that calls the stored procedure. I don't think there is any way to call stored procedures from CREATE ... commands. If you're going to create a stored function anyway ... well, you might as well just create a procedure that inserts values into a regular table instead of fussing with functions and materialized views. You'll probably want to schedule your new procedure to run periodically since it sounds like you'll need the values refreshed from time to time.

  • VIEW Query Problem

    Hi Greg,
    I had created a view on a table which doesn't have Primary Key, but it has Unique and Not Null constraints on required columns.
    I had wrote a procedure to query the data on VIEW. I have experienced strange problem, very first call to procedure will take more time than succeeding requests. For example from second request onwards, it returns data in < 2 Sec, but first transaction is taking 12 Sec to 30 Sec.
    I thought that very first time VIEW is taking time to refresh it self. So, I added FORCE keyword in CREATE VIEW stattement. However, that doesn't helped out.
    In my further investigation I came to know that base table on which VIEW created, has to be loaded in to memory before querying on VIEW.
    So, I had executed a simple select statement on base table, before I execute VIEW query in procedure.
    With this change I got results consistently < 2 Sec all the times.
    My question is instead of executing the select statement on base table is there a way to load base tables data in memory before querying on VIEW?
    Thanks,
    Subbarao

    Hi,
    A view is nothing but parsed SQL statements stored in the database, a view may or may not run faster. If you execute the SQL used to define the view how much time is it taking. If you want try looking at MATERIALIZED VIEW , that may help you.
    thanks

  • How to get the recordcount of a query in a array

    I have an array called "sums" that holds 4 query's, each
    query has a different number of records.
    Then i use this code to loop the records of the query inside
    the array:
    <cfloop index="x" from="1" to="#arrayLen(sums)#">
    <cfloop index="i" from="1" to="#sums[x].recordcount#">
    data to loop
    </cfloop>
    </cfloop>
    This results in 4 times 4 records, of course as i now use the
    array length in the inner loop.
    My question is, how can i get the recordcount of a query in a
    array so i can use that for the inner loop "to" value.
    Thanks.

    array, then i want to loop the records of each query.

    No. It points to each query in turn. So if you have four
    queries, the first time it will point to sum[1]. Then next time
    sum[2], etcetera. It should work exactly the way you want "as is".
    If you are having a problem, it is probably related to the code
    inside your inner loop.

  • Creating a Hierarchy Viewer query

    Hello,
    I'm having huge difficulties creating a Hierarchy Viewer Query. I've looked through the source code contained withing the demo, but it seems to require great knowledge regarding the component. I'm using a three-node model, each node grouped within it's parent.
    So I created a custom View to be used as a result list for the query and this part is working just fine. I can pick the unique ID for the node I want from the search results when the user selects one, but I don't know how I can make that specific node my "anchor", my "current node", after that.
    Since I'm looking for a specific "contact_id" selected from the search results, I think the correct way of doing it is finding it's node on the TreeModel, and then setting it as my current anchor.
    Please, any tips, directions or suggestions on how can I go about doing this?
    Thanks!!

    Hi!
    Thanks for the attention, but I've been through all the basic stuff. The HV documentation only teaches the most primitive part of it. I searched all blogs related to HV, all articles I could find, I've meddled with the demo source code and all I can think of, but I couldn't find anyone who would give much insight on the mechanics of the component or how to build a really powerful search engine for it.
    As a sugestion for the developer team, it would be great if the query for this component allowed us to specify actions to be performed on all levels of the tree, instead of only the root node, since most of the time people use HV as a multi-root tree.

  • Oracle view returns incomplete result

    Hello, I have a view on oracle table, but sometimes I found the result from the view is not complete.
    It only returns part of the rows, at the meanwhile, the performance becomes very bad.
    (the only change on the table is a new index be created on it)
    After a did the table EXP / IMP, the performance back to normal (this is what I expedted), AND THE VIEW RETURNS FULL RESULT!
    It is so weird I cannot believe this can happen...
    Is it possilbe that oracle returns incompleted result rows without error?

    It only returns part of the rows, at the meanwhile, the performance becomes very bad.does it mean the select from view has been stopped/interrupted before it finished itself?
    Oracle could choose different plan with the index introduced. This plan could return first portion of rows fast, then continue to work on following portion, ant that took more time, but you did not want to wait and stop it.
    After exp/imp oracle may choose different plan that returns all rows at once.
    Is it possilbe that oracle returns incompleted result rows without error?normally not.
    though years ago I had one similar situation. The cause was a corrupted index. If query used index it returned less rows, with full scan - more. I had to rebuild the index to fix it.

  • Convert JPA Query getResultList to Array

    I have been struggling with this problem for several hours now. All I have succeeded in doing is attempt every possible way to convert a List into an array and I just get errors.
         // create native SQL query
         Query q = em.createNativeQuery("SELECT * FROM Project p");
         // get and process the results
         List<Project> list = q.getResultList();
            Project[] retVal = new Project[list.size()];
         for (int i = 0; i < list.size(); i++)
             retVal[i] = list.get(i);
         }One would assume this to work, however this generates a ClassCastException, cannot convert Object to Project, oddly because as far as I can see everything in the code is strongly typed. I think Persistence fills the typed List with Object and not Project??
    So I tried:
    Project[] retVal = list.toArray(new Project[0]);This generates an ArrayStoreException.
    Finally I tried the basic, should generate x-lint warning:
    Project[] retVal = (Project[])(list.toArray());This also return ClassCastException, same reason as the first attempt.
    I want my WebService function to return a standard Project[] not the java.lang.List class. But it seems JPA queries only support getting a List. I have googled to no end for a solution. Help appreciated!
    Thanks.

    You are almost right, you can solve this two ways as below:
    First, use native query with result class reference.
    Second, use JPA query with createQuery method.
    Both the options should work, see code below:
    // First option, create native SQL query with result class reference.
    Query q = em.createNativeQuery("SELECT * FROM Project p",Project.class);
    // Second option, Create JPA Query.
    // Query q = em.createQuery("SELECT p FROM Project p");
    // get and process the results
    List<Project> list = q.getResultList();
    // Putting result to an array
    Project[] retVal = new Project[list.size()];
    list.toArray(retVal);*Cheers,

  • Spatial vs. materialized views/query rewrite

    Dear all,
    we are trying to use Spatial (Locator) functionality together with performance optimization using materialized views and query rewrite, and it does not seem to work. Does anybody has experience with this?
    The problem in more detail:
    * There is a spatial attribut (vom Typ GEOMETRY) in our table;
    * we define a materialized view on that table;
    * we run a query that could be better answered using the materialized view with query rewrite;
    *the optimizer does not choose the plan using the materialized view, query rewrite does not take place;
    This happenes, even if neither the materialized view, nor the query contains the spatial attribut.
    The explanation given by the procedure DBMS_MVIEW.Explain_Rewrite is:
    "QSM-01064 query has a fixed table or view Cause: Query
    rewrite is not allowed if query references any fixed tables or views"
    We are using Oracle 9R2, Enterprise Edition, with locator. Nevertheless, it would also be interesting, if there is any improvement in 10g?
    A more complicated task, using materialized views to optimize spatial operations (e.g., sdo_relate) would also be very interesting, as spatial joins are very expensive operations.
    Thanks in advance for any comments, ideas!

    Gergely Lukacs

    QSM-01019 no suitable materialized view found to rewrite this query
    Cause: There doesn't exist any materialized view that can be used to rewrite this query.
    Action: Consider creating a new materialized view.
    i.e. query rewrite does not work!
    If this works, the next issue is to use materialized views for optimizing spatial operations, e.g., a spatial join. I can supply you with an example, if necessary (only makes sense, I think, after the first problem is solved).
    Thanks in advance for any ideas, comments!

  • Acrobat X--View Adobe PDF results

    Since the latest update to Acrobat X Pro, to 10.1, Acrobat doesn't show the PDF results when I print to PDF (from Word, from the Web, etc.). The PDF printer otherwise works fine; I just like to see the PDF pop up right after I create it to make sure it's what I want. I took a look at printing preferences for the Adobe PDF printer, and "View Adobe PDF results" is still checked (it was checked under the version before the update). I'm using Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit, if that matters. I'd appreciate any help anyone can provide. Thanks in advance!

    I also had this problem immediately after upgrade to 10.1, and I believe there is a bug involved.
    Going to Printer Properties, Advanced tab, and unchecking "Enable advanced printing features" did display the file after creating it.
    Checking "Enable advanced printing features" caused the file to not be displayed, even though the Printer Perferences setting to "View Adobe PDF results" remained checked under both conditions.
    I think there is a bug involved because under the problem condition, when the PDF file would be created but not displayed, I could not rename the file. It would say that Adobe had the file open. I could only rename the file by Ending Process on acrodist.exe or restarting Windows (7 Pro 64-bit).
    It seems that somehow the process was getting hung at a point prior to the display of the file.
    Since the workaround is to disable advanced features that I would like to use, it's not an acceptable solution for me.
    Is there a place to file a bug report and get a ticket?

  • Materialized view query (Oracle 9i)

    I have dropped a materialized view query and trying to create the same with additional columns in the prebuilt table.
    Option - 1
    when Iam using a query in the materialized view query "select * from schema.table@link, with refresh mode fast option, the database throws an error " no table or view exists"
    Option - 2
    When Iam using a query in the materialized view query "select * from schema.table@link, with refresh mode option either complete or force, it gets created.
    I need to create the above materialized view query in the fast mode option, Please help.

    Hi,
    Does a table named profit_mvw already exist?
    The following example illustrates the two steps required to register a user-defined table. First, the table is created, then the materialized view is defined using exactly the same name as the table. This materialized view sum_sales_tab is eligible for use in query rewrite.
    CREATE TABLE sum_sales_tab
    PCTFREE 0 TABLESPACE demo
    STORAGE (INITIAL 16k NEXT 16k PCTINCREASE 0) AS
    SELECT s.prod_id, SUM(amount_sold) AS dollar_sales,
    SUM(quantity_sold) AS unit_sales
    FROM sales s GROUP BY s.prod_id;
    CREATE MATERIALIZED VIEW sum_sales_tab
    ON PREBUILT TABLE WITHOUT REDUCED PRECISION
    ENABLE QUERY REWRITE AS
    SELECT s.prod_id, SUM(amount_sold) AS dollar_sales,
    SUM(quantity_sold) AS unit_sales
    FROM sales s GROUP BY s.prod_id;

  • Query Builder results seem to max out at 500 lines.  How to change?

    Hi all,
    Some of out Application Express users are using the Query Builder tool for ad-hoc reporting. The idea is to run the SQL to extract the data, then download to MS Excel. The Query Builder results seem to max out at 500 lines. I want to increase that value. I searched all Application Express forums for 'query builder output max 500' and then 'query builder output' and did not find the answer.
    How do I change the 500 line limit in Query Builder results?
    Thanks!

    Bryan,
    Here is a link to an HTML-DB studio application, that is a QBE "replacement" for the query tool in APEX development..
    http://htmldb.oracle.com/pls/otn/f?p=18326:7:1387557504245687::::P7_ID:1222
    It is for an older version of APEX, but you should be able to make it work for your needs..
    Thank you,
