Viewing calendar of a resource in iCal (connected to an iCal Server)

Let's say I've got a bunch of video cameras or rooms that I want to view the availability of in iCal. Is there any way to do this without making a new event, inviting the resources, and then checking the availability in the window?

according to Apple documents:
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3897
To delegate read and write access of a resource to a group use the following command, where groupname is the name of the group and resourcename is the name of the resource:
sudo calendarservermanageprincipals --add-write-proxy groups:groupname resources:resourcename
To delegate read access of a resource to a group use the following command, where groupname is the name of the group and resourcename is the name of the resource:
sudo calendarservermanageprincipals --add-read-proxy groups:groupname resources:resourcename
To delegate read and write access of a resource to a group use the following command, where groupname is the name of the group and locationname is the name of the location:
sudo calendarservermanageprincipals --add-write-proxy groups:groupname locations:locationname
To delegate read access of a location to a group use the following command, where groupname is the name of the group and locationname is the name of the location:
sudo calendarservermanageprincipals --add-read-proxy groups:groupname locations:locationname
Once you have delegated access to resource or location, a client can view it in iCal via iCal > Preferences > Accounts > Delegation and selecting "Show" beside each resource and location.

When I run the following applescript
    tell application "iCal"
view calendar at date "Thursday, June 19, 2008 4:00:00 PM"
    end tell
iCal moves to Thursday, but when I run

    it moves to Friday..
I'm guessing it is one of the bugs relating to the timezone management within iCal? (I'm in California)
Is it just me and my computer or is this actually a bug?

  • Why can't I print out a year view calendar?

I was thrilled to find we now have a Year-View in iCal with OSX Lion, but now I find I cannot print it out. Every year, I like to print a few year-view calendars to keep in different places. Right now, I do not have any calendar program that will let me do that. What is so wrong with letting us print a year view calendar?

    As a work around:
When displaying the year view, switch to full screen view and type  Command(⌘)-Shift-3 to take a screen shot.
That will store a picture of the screen on your Desktop. Print the picture.

  • Limit User View To Not Include Resource Attributes

Although I've created custom workflow and forms I'm still unclear on what exactly initiates the loading of views when starting for example the Tabbed User Form. Can you control what gets loaded into the view, specifically not load resource attributes?
We currently have approximately 700 resources and growing. This significantly lengthens the load time of the Tabbed User Form because Identity Manager connects to several hundred resources. We normally do not edit resource attributes directly but instead set them using globals or role attributes. This latency also has an affect throughout the tool, for example end-users requesting roles requires the Tabbed User Form to load.
Ideally the view would only load the waveset and globals values and only connect to the necessary resources upon saving the view.
Any ideas or further explanation on what controls the view attributes would be greatly appreciated.

Dynamic Tabbed User Form will not help here as the resource attributes are loaded anyway, regardless whether the form displays it or not.
The problem is the user view itself that checks every linked resource. I don't think you can limit the view by providing some arguments. You would have to create your own view along with the necessary handlers for checkout and checkin.

  • Users added under delegation to view calendar show No Access (Exchange)

I am trying to add other user's calendars under Delegation so I can view them in iCal.  These are calendars that are shared with me - I have confirmed this when using the Outlook client.  When I add them under iCal they show No Access.  Also, strangely, iCal appends 00000 to the end of each user name under the users field in Delegation.  For example - I add Tom Jones - pick [email protected] and I see tjones00000 in the Users field and No Access in the other fields.  My Exchange version shows as 14.2.247.5 in the web client.

That sounds like delegation issues to me. The new employee needs to go into delegation for their calendar and add all the other employees as "delegates" (iCal Preferences, Accounts, Delegation tab, Edit button). The current employees need to go into delegation for their calendars and add the new employee as a "delegate" as well. Hit the refresh button after that and everyone should be able to see each other's calendars. We have that issue all the time and, thank goodness, I have Apple Remote Desktop. I go into everyone's calendars myself and add the new employee. Otherwise newbies would never see anyone's calendars.

  • Web calendar for group only?  Users cals only in iCal?

I'm new to setting up iCal server and I've looked through my *Mac OS X Server Essentials* book as well as iCalService_Admin_v10.5_2ndEd.pdf and WebTechnologies_Adminv10.5.pdf and how the iCal service, the iCal application and the web calendar all interact remains a little murky for me.
    Here's my understanding so far:
iCal the application on the OS X client computer is used to manage a single user's calendar. iCal can also be used to manage another user's calender if so set up.
The web calendar found at http://domain/groups/groupname/calendar/ is used to manage a group's calendar.
iCal the application can subscribe Read-Only to the group's calendar.
This means to me that a user's calendar is not viewable on the web, the web calendar is only for group calendaring, and group calendar management is only done via the web not iCal, is this true?

I have only recently made my web calendars work, but have had several odd problems when trying to use both the web calendar and iCal to edit and view the same group calendar.
*What is the proper way to access a group calendar in the iCal client?*
    Is it this?

  • No more "View Calendar on .Mac" ???

I am unable to find the feature called "View Calendar on .Mac" that existed in Tiger? Where is this now? I can't locate my cal on the web.
    David

    David,
where exactly are you control clicking?
It is apparent that we are not looking in the same location, or the contextual menu has changed between iCal 2.0 and iCal 3.0.
I am looking/clicking on the iCal application "Calendars" source pane.
Perhaps you can point me in the right direction. If you talking about the .Mac web page, I have never seen that choice in that location.
Try sending yourself a "Publish" email. Select the calendar and choose Calendar>Send Publish Email... That should present you with the proper format to use for viewing in any web browser. The email will list:
    1. You can view my calendar at:

How do you create a calendar style report in Crystal Reports XI?
    Resolution
    NOTE
This solution involves advanced report design concepts. The user should be familiar with creating formulas, grouping, formatting objects, formatting sections, creating subreports and linking them.
The first part of this solution involves creating the report and the first group level:
Before creating the report, create a Microsoft Excel spreadsheet that contains a column called "date" with each day of the year in date format.
After identifying your data source and tables, create a new report.
Add the date table from the Excel spreadsheet to the report.
Insert a group based on the date field. In the dialog This section will be printed for, click For each month.
Select the Use customized group name based on a formula option and enter this formula (substituting the Excel table and field name for Sheet1_.date if yours is different.):
    Monthname(Month({Sheet1_.date}))
Insert a new Page Header section.
Drag the group name field to the Page Header_a section.
Open the Section Expert, select the Group Header #1 section, and select Suppress.
In the Section Expert, click the Group Footer #1 section, and select New Page After. In its conditional formula button, enter this formula:
    Not OnLastRecord
In the main report, create a formula called {@Weeknumber} that contains the following syntax:
    DatePart("ww",{Sheet1_.date})
In the second section of this solution, you will be creating a second group level:
Insert a group (Group #2), based on the {@Weeknumber} formula.
In the Section Expert, select the Group Footer #2 section, and select Suppress.
Create a formula for each day of the week. Name them {@Sun}, {@Mon}, and so on, using the following syntax:
    If DayOfWeek({Sheet1_.date}) = 1 then Day({sheet1_.date})
In this formula, the number 1 represents Sunday. For the rest of the six formulas, change the number to 2 for Monday, 3 for Tuesday, 4 for Wednesday, 5 for Thursday, 6 for Friday and 7 for Saturday.
Add these seven formulas to the Details section. Arrange them in a row, spacing them equally along the page, starting with the formula for Sunday.
For each of the formulas, insert a Maximum summary function.
Drag these seven summary fields to the Group Header #2 section.
Drag the lower boundary of the header down until it is the size that you want the square for the calendar days to be.
Suppress the Report Header, Details, Page Footer, and Report Footer sections.
Right-click and format each of the summary fields. In the Number tab click Customize and select Suppress if Zero.
Draw a box over Page Header_b and extend this down to the bottom of the Group Header #2 section. Then draw vertical lines from the top of the box to the bottom to divide the days, and draw a horizontal line along the top of Group Header #2 to divide the weeks.
For both the box and the vertical lines, use the Format Editor to select Extend to Bottom of Section when Printing.
Position the seven summary fields from Group Header #2 where you would like them to be in the day boxes. In Page Header_b, arrange the column labels ('Sun', 'Mon', and so on) so that they are centered above each square.
The final section will guide you through the Subreport creation part of this solution. Create seven subreports, one for each day of the week. Begin with the subreport for Sunday:
Create a subreport called "Sun". Select the data source for the data that your calendar data will display.
Add the data field(s) to the Details section of the subreport that you want to appear in the calendar squares.
    Suppress the remaining sections.
Place the subreport in the "Sunday" square of the Group Header #2 of the main report. Adjust its size to fit the square.
In the subreport, create a formula called {@WeekNumber} with the following syntax:
    DatePart("ww",{Appointments.Appointment Date})
In the Select Expert click show formula and add this syntax:
    Year({Sheet_1.date}) = 2007 and DayOfWeek({Sheet1_.date}) = 1
In this formula, 2007 is the year of your calendar and 1 is for Sunday.
Link the subreport to the main report using the {@Weeknumber} formula from each.
In the main report, right-click the subreport and click Format Subreport.
In the Common tab, enter this syntax into the conditional formula button next to the Suppress check box:
    Maximum({@Sun},{@Weeknumber}) = 0
Repeat steps 1 to 8 for the other days of the week, ensuring that you substitute the correct values for the corresponding day of the week.

    Hello SMEvans32
You can use iCloud to share the Calendar, that way she will always be up to date on that particular section of your work calendar. If you want to use iCloud, I would recommend backing up so you have a safe copy of your data.

Help! I synced my iCal from my old iPhone to iCloud. It worked great. I've done this because I'm switching to a Samsung phone and need to sync my iCal to my Google calendar. In attempting to do so today, my iCal is empty. How can I retrieve my iCal info??

This was EXACTLY what I needed about the purchases I made from my device. However, is there a way to re-download other ones you've made from a computer? Because I realized some of them were not just purchased from my device.
This is a picture of what it looks like now:
    http://tinypic.com/r/107quxu/7
As you can see, the stuff circled in red doesn't give me an option to download from Cloud Beta because it already says "downloaded".
any way to get around that?

  • Why are the events I create in my calendar on my iPhone 4S not transferring to my iCal on my iMac when i sync the phone?

None of the events I have posted to the calendar on my iPhone 4S are visible on the iCal on my Mac.  I have the sync settings correct, I believe, but nothing appears on the Mac.  Any suggestions?

I will! Thank you so much for your help. I know this will seem a simple solution that most of you out there already know about - but some of us still struggle with things we think are beyond our control.   Thanks again Ralph.
